3 windows accounts, 1 library

I have 3 accounts on my Windows XP. I read that itunes will stay up in other accounts. I needed to follow that advice because in my account the window will not stay up. So I created a third account for that. Now my problem is that all my music is on my account and I can't put that on my other libraries. I tryed unistalling, but the same songs came up. I figured that I should delete the other two accounts, since the other person who use the computer uses my account. However it occured to my that it might backfire since as I mentioned earlier that my itunes window will not stay up. What should I do?

I don't know if you can absolutely sync them together.
But what you can do is put all of the music in one place...like take the one music library with all the music, go to edit > preferences > Advanced (tab) and there will be a box with a source in it. Change it to a new folder, and then go to advanced > consolidate library. It will copy all of the music in that library to a new folder. Then, on the other users, just go to file > add folder to library and select the one that you consolidated the music to. It will add all of the music. Also, change your source folder the the folder you added. (Source folder = Edit > Preferences > Advanced (tab.) Unfortunately, you will still have to manually add any music that another person adds to that folder by ripping CDs.
Otherwise, I don't really know of a way to do what you're talking about.

  • Best iTunes strategy for a family with multiple Windows accounts

On our previous Windows 7 PC, I set up separate Windows accounts for each of our family members. Since iTunes can't be run concurrently on more than one Windows account, I also set up another Windows account named "iTunes," the sole purpose of which is to have iTunes running in a way that everyone can access it without having to log into each others' accounts. When you want to use iTunes, you log into the "iTunes" Windows account; when you want to do something else on the computer, you log into your personal Windows account.
Two questions: (1) Is there a better way to do this? and (2) Am I right that iTunes still can't be run concurrently on more than one Windows account?
    Thanks.

This is a user to user support forum. Your fellow users can offer solutions or workarounds based on their experience with the application. If you think it should work differently drop a line to iTunes Feedback.
For reasons unknown Apple haven't chosen to allow iTunes to be suspended in one profile and active in another. My recollection is that this applies even if each profile has a different library, although it is some time since I've committed a personal test.
I'm not sure why my suggestion make less sense that your current approach?. As I understand it currently everybody is either signed into their own account when they can do something other than work with iTunes, or they sign into the special iTunes account where they can't access any of their other stuff. You don't have to disable fast user switching. Follow exactly the same steps, but make sure everyone closes iTunes before turning the computer over to another user. Disabling fast user switching helps to enforce that action.

  • Multiple windows accounts and multiple shuffles on single computer

Hi folks I need help.Is it possible to share an i.tunes library with one of my sons (who is getting his shuffle for xmas)i.e to be able to play on the computer and download to each shuffle the same music as it seems a bit stupid that if we like the same tunes I end up paying twice !!
So far i have read in this forum about moving playlists to a shared area but i wonder if this may only let you play on computer but not down load to shuffle. I have also considered setting up a new windows account "music" purely for us to be able to access and share but of course i have already a purchased library which i need to migrate if thats possible. Advice gratefully received

Thanks for the link you sent me . Following the advice has solved my issue ....sure enough sharing of music between accounts is now happening.
    Thanks

  • Problem sharing iTunes with multiple Windows accounts

My kids and I share a single computer via multiple user accounts. We also share a common iTunes account across all Windows accounts. When new songs or playlists are added, they appear in the other accounts.
Recently, I had to create a new Windows account for my daughter. In iTunes, I went to Edit -> Preferences and changed the iTunes Media folder location to the shared folder. The problem is that none of the playlists came through, and when new songs are added, they do not show up in her account either.
What could be causing this problem on just this account, and what is the possible fix?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same music to be available in iTunes for all users, see iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer.
The important stuff is near the bottom
    +To listen to another account's music files+
    +Open iTunes.+
+From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.+
    +Click Advanced.+
+Deselect the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library file" option.+
    +Click OK.+
+From the File menu, choose Add File to Library.+
+Note: Windows users can also choose Add Folder to Library to add a folder of songs.+
+Navigate in the Add File To Library window to the location where the other user's music is saved (the iTunes Music folder in the case above).+
    +Click Open.+
+Repeat these steps for each account that is listening to shared music.+
+When another user of the computer has imported new music from CD, *repeat steps 6 through 8* to add the music to your library.+

  • Conflicting Windows Accounts

Hello. My brother's NetBook 'died' recently due to virus problems. Since he doesn't have access iTunes, I let him use my computer instead. I have an iPod Touch and sync all of my music with MediaMonkey. Since, of course, he has to update his iPhone with iTunes, he downloaded iTunes. That's when the problem started. When I accessed my account, I found a QuickTime and iTunes icons on my desktop. I recently uninstalled iTunes along with QuickTime recently because I now use MediaMonkey on my PC. Not just that, but all of my music that's in MP3 format (most of my music is in FLAC) was set to play on iTunes, so not knowing, I clicked on an MP3 and it opened up iTunes, and it started scanning all of my library, and started 'Determining Audio Volume' or something like that. So, here is the question. Is there anyway to install iTunes only on one Windows account? I would enjoy it, so nothing conflicts.

Just don't use iTunes on your account.
Select an MP3 file, right click - *Open with* and select Media Monkey and tick *Always use the selected program to open this kind of file*.

  • I recently built a new windows PC for the first time. My (new) wife and I both have itunes accounts, which we would like to use under different windows accounts on same PC. However, when I try to download my wife's songs it gives me an error.

I am recently married to a wonderful woman and just built a windows PC for the first time. The idea was that we would (sorta) both be able to get a new computer out of it as we would each have a different account under windows. One of the first tasks was to migrate over our iTunes libraries. I did mine with no problem, but now that I'm try to do hers, I'm getting an error message saying "if you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days."
What's the best solution for this? I want my wife to be able to use the new computer under her windows account just like it's her new computer, to the extent possible. I don't want our two iTunes accounts to be fighting each other and causing problems because they are on the same physical machine. What to do? Surely this can't be the first time this has happened - where two people each want to have their own iTunes account on the same computer.
This is the latest version of iTunes (12.0.1.26) running on Windows 8.1.

Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from her old compouter to /Music/ in her account on this new computer.

  • How can I move my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library (with my cps ripped) to my Mac iTunes library?

Just for my curiosity and knowledge,
    I have a PC (Windows 7) and a Mac (OS X 10.10).
Both of them with the latest version of iTunes.
Both of them with the exact music library (genre, artist, album, etc).
All my music is coming from iTunes Store, so very easy to re download at any time I want with my Apple ID
My PC (Windows 7) computer has a CD/DVD drive. I would like to RIP some music from my CDs and add them to my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library.
Once I finished, how can I move my PC (Windows 7) iTunes library (with my cps ripped) to my Mac iTunes library?
    Thank you so much

If you've downloaded the media idependently to each library so far then thet won't be exactly the same as there are different naming rules for the files and folders in OS X and Windows. See Make a split library portable for some general advice. You can move a portable library between Mac and Windows, but there is a delay opening the library after each change of OS.

  • How can I play my  windows-based itunes library on an imac?

Does anyone know of a way that I can transfer my windows-based itunes library to my new imac?

    Instructions:
    for iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
    for iPhoto
    http://www.wondershare.com/photo-editing-tips/move-iphoto-library.html
Remember you only move the libraries, not the apps. So it will, as you want it to, "run normally through the imac". After the move, the first time you open the app, you have to identify the location of the library.

  • Using iTunes with multiple Windows accounts

A friend of mine has 2 Windows accounts on his Win XP machine. He uses iTunes on each account, but has his music in a shared location. If he has music playing in iTunes on one account and then uses Fast User Switching to log into the second account, the current song continues to play but the next song and every song thereafter will be very jerky. Like trying to stream music with a slow internet connection.
    Any thoughts.

    hiya!
hmmmm. it might well be the Windows Fast User Switching causing his problem (although he isn't getting the usual problem i see associated with Fast User Switching):

  • Migrate Nokia Suite between windows accounts

I have recently changed my home pc so that each user has their own account, I now want to move my Nokia Suite settings to my personal windows account rather than the shared windows account.
My issue is that I have a lot of photographs stored on my N8, these have already been uploaded to windows (shared account) - but if I connect the N8 while logged in with my new windows account Nokia Suite tries to upload all the photos again, this would turn into a massive problem for me to sort out manually.
What can I do to migrate my Nokia Suite data from one account to another - I see there are hidden "Nokia" and "Nokia Account" folders in AppData/Local... would it be sufficient to copy these or is there other stuff that I would be missing?

    Hi dylanf,
You can see the help of Nokia Suite "Moving the contents of Nokia Suite to a new computer", the same applies to creating a new account or profile on your same computer.
If you had your Photos and Videos from your phone stored on your shared account on PC in the standard Windows Pictures and Videos folders. You just need to copy them those to your new account's Pictures and Videos. This way you will not need to copy those photos again from your phone to your new account.
I copied here the instructions from the Nokia Suite help. Nokia Suite -> Help -> Moving the contents of Nokia Suite to a new computer.
When you are switching to a new computer, it's easy to move your contacts, messages, media files, calendar information, bookmarks, and web feeds from Nokia Suite on your old computer to Nokia Suite on the new computer. All your files stay safe and you can continue using Nokia Suite just like before. See below for detailed instructions on how to move different content types to your new computer.
    Music, photos, and videos
The music, photos, and videos you see in Nokia Suite are stored on your computer just like any files and you can move them to the new computer with the help of Windows Explorer and an external hard drive, such as a USB memory stick. In the options of Nokia Suite, check if the program saves your media files to the standard Windows folders for music, photos, and videos (such as Music, Pictures, and Videos on Windows Vista and Windows 7 or My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos on Windows XP), or if you have chosen to save them in some other folders. To check your options, open the Tools menu, click Options, and then go to the Music and Gallery tabs.
Note that if you have created music playlists or photo albums in Nokia Suite on your old computer, you need to create them again when you start using Nokia Suite on your new computer.

  • How do I transfer my account stuff to another account, NOT library

My parents just got iPhones, my dad has had an iPod, and I had an iPod and iPad. We used the same account. I kept using his account because I changed it to my email and he never used his iPod. I've bought so much stuff with the account. Now i want to make an account for my mom and dad but yet my dad still wants his music and movies and apps. But I want my own account while still saving everything. I would I transfer his music, movies, and apps to the account I want to make him? Please, please, help me. And I know the difference between account, and library.

  • How can I start two FF instances under two Windows accounts at once w/o -no-remote? I need to be able to send URLs to them.

I have one FF (36.0) installation and two Windows user accounts: one for work (w/o internet access but with access to domain resources like JIRA) and one for internet access (w/o access to local resources). I need two instances of FF running at the same time with different resources.
I've created profiles with different names under both accounts and specify profile names using -p parameter. However when I try to start both instances of FF (second one is started via RUNAS), second instance can't be started, new tab in already running instance is opened instead:
    firefox.exe -p profile
    runas.exe /profile /savecred /user:user_i "\"firefox.exe\" -p profile_i"
When I start one of them with -no-profile, I can start both at once... but when I try to execute firefox.exe with an URL in order to open a tab with this URL in one of running instances (local URLs I open by starting firefox.exe under work account and remote URLs I open by starting FF via RUNAS), it can't sent URL to already running instance of same user, it always sends URLs to an instance that is runnung w/o -no-remote.
    firefox.exe -p profile -url "url"
    runas.exe /profile /savecred /user:user_i "\"firefox.exe\" -p profile_i -url \"url\""
So, I need to have two instances under two different Windows user accounts, and when firefox.exe is started again, it should only communicate with instance that is running under same user account, it must not communicate with instance that is running under different Windows account.
