3 xp boxes...one ubuntu...can NM let the Ubuntu box in on the fun?
I have three XP boxes nicely networked with NM. I have an Ubuntu box that I am trying to run Boxee on with the goal to see the XP box which has my media files. I was able to get boxee to "see" my XP box by inputting its IP address, but it won't add the folder...so:
Does NM actually do anything to Windows networking that might be causing this problem? or does NM essentially overlay the existing Windows networking tools and provide a better and simpler interface to work with? I'm trying to troubleshoot this on both ends (Boxee and NM) and honestly don't know which end to start with. Any opinions appreciated.
Hi, NM actually interfaces with Windows Networking to provide a simple sharing expeirence with the use of Sharing Folders. I have not tried testing NM with a Linux box on the network, but using normal file sharing should work.

Our Bridge has been acting very strange. It keeps giving a dialog box of "Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache. ... purge central cache" For one, I can't find the central cache and two, I've purged the cache in bridge. Shouldn't that help? There's just all kinds of weird stuff going on. I suppose it does have something to do with the central cache, so maybe someone can tell me where to find it.
When I use the burn/dodge tool sometimes it drags and staggers and takes forever to complete whatever I'm burning/dodging. When I try to delete an image from the dock, it won't disappear but it won't display either.
Any help would be appreciated.The Central Cache is the Bridge Cache.
It's referred as the Central Cache to differentiate it from the individual folder's cache or even the individual image cache. -

How to limit the max dialog no that one user can use at the same time?
Hi,
I meet one performance problem that one user can open 6 sessions in the GUI and he/she can run 6 reports at the same time witch could occupy 6 dialogs in the sap R/3 instance. It makes poor performance for other users.
Would you pls tell me how to limit the no. of sessions one user can create at the same time or how to limit the no. of dialogs one user can occupy at the same time?

We can reserve DIA W.P by giving value to the parameter :- rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp=1(default)
that have to necessarily remain free for other users.
This parameter is used to reserve a number of dialog work processes for Dailog mode.
For eg. If 10 dialog w.p. are configured for the instance(rdsip/wp_no_dia=10) and the parameter rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp=3 is set,parallel RFC's can occupy a maximum of 7 DIA W.P.3 DAI W.P. always remain free for dialog mode.
But now the question is how we assign/restrict this free dialog w.p. to the specific user.

f i have a mid 2009 mac book pro and an apple tv that is the latest one. i can not mirror the mac book on my tv. is it the fact that my computer is a little older than 2011 models which will work. any info is greatly appreciated

Have one WiFi signal into the apartment for my Air, and another wifi signal for my 5c phone plan. Both from the same provider. Expensive. Is there a way to 'combine' WiFi signals so I pay only for one, but can get on the Internet with my Air?
Roamingnome, thanks for your response. Although I have been a Bell (Canada) customer for my WiFi signal for years, the 5c and its necessary mobility plan, is very recent. Some years ago, Bell supplied its own ‘router’ for my computer, and claimed that it was possible to get their WiFi signal only with the router they supplied. When I recently received the 5c, I wondered if the plan it requires, which is within the much wider, overall Bell zone, could be used somehow to get my Air online - some sort of tethering? - that allows me to give up the Air WiFi service and router all together, but still get the Air connected. Here in Canada, Bell Mobility and other Bell services are very separate. Any suggestions appreciated.

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?
Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any. -
Downloaded mavericks for one mac can i use the same download to install on another mac
I have downloaded for 12 hours initial installation on one mac for mavericks, and all installed successfully. Rather than download again for another mac, can I use the same download and copy on to the other mac..and if yes, where will I find it?
All you need to do is go to System Preferences > App Store and uncheck the automatic install of updates box, then download the Mavericks installer, and copy to a flash drive. You will need a flash drive of 8 G B or more since the installer is around 5.3 GB. The installer will be in Finder > Applications. You can then copy that flash drive installer to the Applications folders in all the Macs you have that are capable of running Mavericks, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842.
When the installer runs, the last step in the installtion is for the installer to erase itself. So makng a copy before the installer runs is essential if you want to avoid redownloading.
Installing from the same installer does not cause problems for Macs on the same network. -
One firefox can load webpage, the other cannot
I have two Firefox running concurrently, one on laptop and one on desktop, both through the same router and ISP.
Last night the desktop would not load a particular webpage, a forum, but was fine with everything else. I assumed the problem was at the other end, it has happened before, and they would fix it.
I happened to try it on the laptop and it loaded OK, but I then found that the desktop version would still not load. Repeated tries confirmed this. The desktop has version 29.01 and declared up to date.
WierdOn the Firefox that won't load the page, do you get an error that the page was not found, or it loads blank, or what happens exactly?
If the site is loading incompletely/incorrectly, did you try the usual?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
To see whether it's likely to be a settings issue, could you do a two-minute experiment?

Can you get into the forum in the new profile? If so, that implies there is an issue with a setting or extension in your regular profile.
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong. -

HP C410B Photosmart all-in-one - I can't access the printer's web server
This printer is working OK as a printer via its network connection and I can see it on the network when I do a scan.
I can also 'ping' the printer OK.
However I can't connect to its web server for configuration or to start a scan from the computer etc. When I
try to connect from my web browser it just sits there saying 'Connecting' but nothing happens. I can 'ping'
the printer OK.
I have tried stopping and re-starting the printer but that didn't help.
Any ideas anyone?I would try a couple of things. Have you tried a different browser? Have you tried with your firewall disabled?

Iphone 5 stollen got a new one but can't get the icloud backup
My Iphone was stollen and I put on lost mode on "find my Iphone". Now I have a new one and I'm trying to get the backup from icloud, but I always get a message that my Apple ID is locked. I've already reset my password twice and deleted the previous equipment from the app (Find my Iphone), but I still can't get the backup.
what should I do?? TksFor you to get the pictures off the old device, you would need to have connected the device to the computer in the past, so you could select it to trust the devices. Without a working screen on the device you will not be able to do that. Because of that, you would not be able to even use your computer to navigate the file system to get the photos. Since you never created a backup in iTunes, did you do one in iCloud? If not, then the pictures cannot be recovered. Why would you not backup your phone, or import photos to the computer like you would with a digital camera?
