$30 gamer's unlocked renewal coupon declined

I went to store to renew my gamers unlocked membership yesterday. Casher scaned the coupon but it didn't go through. Casher scaned my reward card, typed the sku for gamer's unlocked membership and scan coupon. Tried multiple times with different scanning order but got 'declined' message. Did I get a defective code?

    I'll be happy to answer your question, and thank you for being a My Best Buy member.
    Without providing specific purchase information I can say that your membership would have expired last fall were it not for the complimentary extension we offered members.  That being the case, your Unlocked membership benefits were extended until Feb. 10, 2014.  
    You would have been eligible for a $30 renewal coupon if you were interested in renewing, and we were recently able to offer an added time frame to provide those.  Please see our post linked below for more information on how to receive a coupon.

  • $30 Gamer Club Unlocked Coupon Won't Work ("already redeemed")

    i'm an elite plus member and received the $30 2-year renewal coupon for GCU.  i went to 2 different best buys and my coupon would not work because it said "already redeemed."  the stores refused to help and said i should call 1-800-Bestbuy.  I called twice and kept getting the runaround by service reps who said they knew nothing about the promotion. 
    very frustrating - how do i resolve this!? i thought BB had a policy about providing SOLUTIONS to customers?

    I regret to hear that you attempted to renew your Unlocked membership with the coupon at two separate Best Buy stores to no avail.  
    At this time, the $30 coupon is for active members or members whose memberships may have expired since May 1, 2013 and this is a one time use coupon.  I would like to further review your account with you, if you are able to send me your member ID by clicking on the "Private Message" link near my name below.

    Sorry to hear that! Gamers' Club Unlocked welcome packets typically only take 2-3 business days to arrive by e-mail, so it'd be difficult to determine why you wouldn't have received yours by now. I've sent you some information though, so make sure to check your private messages when you get the chance.

  • Getting screwed out of my BestBuy Gamer's Unlocked Membership

    So I have been a gamers unlocked member since I believe March of 2013. When Bestbuy upgraded the program with all the cool stuff I knew I had to sign up for the 2 year membership. I never received my e-mail to upgrade for the $30 for 2 years. So I made a post on here where a helpful admin sent me a coupon to let me upgrade my gamer's unlocked membership. Of course for everyone that knows that this coupon expired Dec. 31 2013. I believe I went into bestbuy maybe around mid december to go ahead and upgrade my account. I rightfully did paid my $30 and continued to purchase NEW games to receive that 20% off discount.
    So time goes on and I finally made a new game purchase yesterday, which was Plants Vs Zombies for the Xbox One. Once the cashier rang up my bestbuy id my game wasn't being discounted. Granted on their screen it states I was a gamer's unlocked member. On top of the employee being completely unaware that gamers unlocked members receive the 20% discount. So after speaking with a manager I was told just to call 1-800-bestbuy. 
    So I call this morning and the rep, can't seem to find when I purchased my gamers unlocked membership. She states the only way I can get my membership is by my receipt. But the problem is I can't find my recepit let alone I don't know if I ever received one for purchasing the unlocked membership. I don't even remember if I paid with cash, card, certificates. All I do know is that I purchased the dang membership and my account even had stated I was a gamers unlocked member through 2015. Now suddenly it doesn't even state I'm a gamers unlocked member. 
    Now I'm being screwed over my membership that I paid $30 for, I wasn't able to get my discount on my Plants Vs Zombies purchase. Titanfall is releasing in 2 weeks, which I need my discount for, And everything else for the next 2 years. So is their anything that can happen for me? I don't know how this happens. I have my membership on my account and suddenly it disappeard. On top of at my Bestbuy the employee's have messed up several times when I purchased video game items. When I first stated how I had to post on this forum to receive my upgrade coupon it was because the employee never issued it out to my account. The employee's at my bestbuy are really unaware of what they are doing when it comes to this stuff. So maybe what the rep. told me and the employee never applied it to my account. But then I would be confused because my account showed I had the Gamers Unlocked membership linked to my account. So this is all very confusing and it's wrong it can be taken away from me for Bestbuy's mistake. I need some serious help.

    Thank you for being a My Best Buy member.  I am sorry for any concern you've had with your Gamers Club Unlocked membership.  While these were sent out via an automated system, and not any individuals at your store, I can understand your disappointment at not receiving it.
    I was unable to locate a purchase where your renewal was purchased in December, so when your previous unlocked membership expired a few days ago, there was no renewal on the account.  If you have the purchase receipt, please send me a private message with the Customer Service Pin Number and I'll be happy to ensure that purchase is attached to your account.  
    If you don't have the receipt but paid by credit card and can provide me with the store location, date and amount paid, I can attempt to locate the receipt that way.  You can contact me by using the "Private Message" button in my signature line.

  • Gamer Club Unlocked for sale online?

    I tried using my coupon in the store for $60.00 off and after about an hour of managers and calling best buy, getting transferred 6 times, and finally I was told to go online and order Gamers Club Unlocked and then call back and they could credit me the $60.00, I can't seem to find it for sale online... does anyone know if that is even possible? At least the cahier Brian bought me a soda..

    I am sorry to hear of the trouble you had with your Unlocked discount coupon.  It does sound as though there may have been some user error on the part of the store associate assisting you in your check-out process.
    I have replied to your private message, but as BrianJason mentioned, Gamers Club Unlocked can only be purchased in-store.  As you had a manager there aware of your situation and offering assistance I would recommend you return and speak with him or her.

  • All of a sudden, Gamer's Unlocked membership is gone

    I went in to trade in a game and the system wouldn't give me my Gamer's Unlocked discount.  The cashier tried with her account to see if it was the system and it also didn't work.  Are some accounts affected?  Can't even order a game with discount.
    My membership is supposed to expire Feb 17/2017.  Had this account since the whole Gamer's Unlocked thing started and I have always followed every rule.  I usually buy my games, beat them, then trade them in.  Never did any hanky-panky like you read about in other forums.
    Help would be appreciated.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked $30 Renewal Coupon??

    Good Evening!
        Last night while reading one of the gaming forums I often visit, I came across a thread that started at the end of Novemeber 2013, that mentioned that coupons were emailed out to GCU members, or members whose subscriptions recently expired, to get re-subscribed for $30. After reading about it, I fumbled through my inbox and spam folder, and wasn't able to find any such coupon. There were a few other people in that forum thread who didn't recieve a coupon either, and were directed here to the Best Buy Unboxed forums, and were told to leave a message here about it, to see if a coupon could be re-sent. Any input at all would be much appreciated, as I would definitely like to partake in the offer if I'm still able to . That was the first I've heard of it.

  • Never used Gamer's Club welcome coupon, now link is dead.

    Hi I hope someones can help me out. I joined gamer's club back in October or November and recieved my welcome coupon email but I never used it. I wanted to use it a few days ago and the link was dead. I called 1 800 Best Buy and I ended up recieving an email saying the welcome coupons are automated and there's nothing that can be done about it. That seems unfair. Please help. Thanks,

    Thanks for writing in, and thanks too for being an Unlocked member.  It's a great addition to your My Best Buy experience.  Part of the benefits are those welcome coupons, but regrettably as all good things must come to an end, so too must welcome packet coupon eligibility.  
    As with other coupons that are offered by Best Buy, our welcome packet coupons come with an expiration date.  These are typical 2-4 weeks from the date issued.  As you enrolled in October, your packet would have likely expired in the middle of November.  Once they expire the link will no longer work.
    I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused.  If you choose to renew your account you will have access to a new packet.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions at this time.

    Both zztoluca and enuf are spot-on here. With the changes to the Gamers' Club Program last November, the @ Gamer magazine and its associated coupons were discontinued for all members. Customers who still had time remaining on their subscription when these changes went into effect continued to receive issues until their original subscription term had expired or until the May 2014 issue, whichever came first. Upon review of your account, it looks like the last issue you should have received was the March 2014 issue.

  • Gamers Club Unlocked $30 Coupon Apparently didn't take affect last month?

    I was on the phone with customer service for hours yesterday and could not get a straight answer.
    I went to BB on 12/13/13 to purchase 2 - $20 Origin Cards and Renew my BB Gamers Club Unlocked Membership with the coupon for 2 years at $30. I had $10 in rewards Certs as well. I went to the Cashier, saw him scan the coupon, paid for my purchase and left. Realizing, it should have been in more than I paid, I went back to the customer service and asked them to check my account and make sure everything was okay. 
    Customer Service in Store told me everything was fine, I was showing as a Gamers Unlocked Member, and I would get charged the $30 when my date was up from my original Gamers Unlocked Membership. Well I was going to go in and buy GT6 and my 20% was not being deducted. Then told me that was because I was a Gamers Club Member and not a Gamers Club Unlocked member. I told them what was going on, and they said I could renew my membership at the full $20. If I wanted to be a Gamers Club Unlocked Member. 
    I am a very loyal BB customer. I have been an Elite Plus member for a year, and a Gamers Club Unlocked Member for a year. I am very upset with this situation as it seems I have missed up on a oppurtunity thanks to a cashier making a mistake. 
    I still have my original Receipt and Coupon from the date I went in a month ago. What do I do? Do I go talk to the store manager! I really want my Gamers Club Unlocked account re-instated. I am even willing to pay $30 TWICE if I need too. 
    Please Help.

    This issue was had by one person in this thread. I am heading to the store now to see If I can resolve my issue.

    That’s a very astute observation. Kiingspade, I apologize for the redundancy in my post.    
    Johnh2005, I was able to locate your My Best Buy Member ID and Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) purchase with the information you've provided to the forums.  Unfortunately, it appears that the GCU transaction wasn't added to your member ID.
    I'd advise you to return to the store location and have them activate your account by making sure that they scan both barcodes on the card.  If they're still unable to verify the activation (Attempt to purchase a new game with the discount), then they may need to exchange the card.  
    I'm really sorry for the hassle and please keep us in the loop on how it goes at the store.

  • Can't pay off pre-order to join Gamer Club Unlocked in weekly ad?

    So I got the Best Buy ad this moring in the paper and saw the "Join Gamers Club Unlocked for $30 when you buy any new game $39.99 or above." Knowing I still had 3 preorders outstanding, I called up the Rewards Zone 866 number and asked them if I would be able to take my preorder in and just pay it in full to satisfy the requirement so I could join. Of course is what I was told and just to take my pre-order receipt into customer service. 
    I head into Best Buy in Castleton, Indiana (#229) and head to customer service as told with the ad and explain I called the RZ 866 number and they told me to bring it to them. After the lady handling the registered called someone, he told me that it would be no problem and he would just have to cancel my preorder and then to just pull the game card and one of the Gamers Club Unlocked cards and the register would take care of it. 
    Then that is when everything went South. 
    I hand the individual the two cards and he proceeds to tell me I could join the GCU for $30 when I buy a game. When I told him I wanted to pay in full for the game he told me I could not do that because "it's two different systems." I explained that I had already spoken to the RZ folks as well as customer service and then he told me "well I should know, I'm the video games guy." I then told him I would just come home and call the RZ folks again, asked for his name and store number which he gave me in a smug tone and I left. As I was walking out the sliding glass doors he said "have a nice day" in a condescending tone. That set me off. I turned and asked the security guy for a manager to complain about the terrible customer service and attitude and the manager was apathetic in helping me. After explaining what I was trying to do, he said he "thought" he could help me. At this point I was overly annoyed so I told him to forget about it and left. 
    If you look at the add, nowhere does it say you can't pay in full for a preorder game to satisfy the requirement. Obviously it can be done because the folks on the 866 number said it would be no problem and I've seen multiple posts on several video game forums of people doing it at their local store. This is probably the third time in the last year I've had issues with associates at this store on advertised deals. So what gives? Lack of training? Employees that just don't care? 
    So now my dilemma is do I go to another location to see if they can help me or do I just cancel all of my preorders and find a new retailer?

    Enuf is spot-on: since in-store pre-order deposits are not considered to be actual purchases, bundle offers such as our current Gamers' Club Unlocked promotion do not apply. If the title you reserved is released and you pick up your copy while the offer is still in effect, then you would be able to take advantage of the bundle savings during the final sale. Otherwise, you will need to purchase another title $39.99+ to be eligible.
    As far as why your thread was moved is concerned, all My Best Buy Gamers' Club-related inquiries -- including those on promotional offers, benefits, and pre-order bonus certificates -- belong in this board. Our In-Store Purchase board is intended as a place for customers to post general policy inquiries, share their in-store experience, and obtain support for existing/prior purchases.
