30-pin Doc Connector - Potential Problem ?

Hello,
Today I inserted my charger into the 30-pin doc connector and the phone
started to charge normally. Usually when the charger is not fully plugged in
I push it in a little more so that it has fitted all the way in. I thought the charger
had not gone in all the way (when it had) and I pushed it in more three more
times with a little bit of force. Nothing happened and the phone charged just
fine and everything was normal.
My question is,
1) By additionally pushing in the charger, have I in any way
damaged the 30-pin doc connector?.
2) Should I be concerned for the future?.
3) How can a pin doc connector possibly damage? (ie by pushing or bending etc?)
Thanks
PA

It appears that the device was defective right out of the box and if that's the case I would return it right away for an exchange and indicate the issue that you are having with the dock connector. Also inform them that there appears to be an object that's wedged/stuck in the connector and that you received it in that condition. From my past experiences Apple is very good about exchanging items like that especially when you receive it in that manner/condition. I hope that helps. My apologies I also forgot to point out that if it's an Online purchase you don't have to do an online return you can simply go to your nearest Apple Store along with your printed out Online Apple store receipt that you received with your shipment.

I am new to ipod. I don't understand what the doc connector is for. I have a monster icarplay and it says I need a doc connector. I can't find any info on what the doc connector does. Where is it supposed to go? Please help.

Every iPod except the Shuffle has a Dock Connector. It is the same port you connect your USB Cable to to sync the iPod to your computer. It is also known as the 30-Pin connector. Simply connect the device to the wide port on the bottom of the iPod. There are also devices that take advantage of a port not on the Nano or shuffle. These devices are usually small and connect to a port on the top of the standard 30 or 80 GB iPod.

• 24 pin motherboard connector.

I try to remove the 24 pin motherboard connector to change the power supply but it doent come out. I press the button on the side and try to remove it but it still doesnt come out. Should I use force or will it break the connector?

Hi StargazerUSA,
Are you sure the problem is the motherboard? It could be the powersupply or the connection from the power button to the MB. I don't think you'll find specs for changing the motherboard pin connectors.
This PC is about 5 years old, so it's going to be hard to find replacement parts if something else happens. It would probably be easier and less expensive to get a new PC.

• Zen 32GB and CreativeMediaSource organizer potential problem?

I'm using Windows XP home/ SP3
Hi!? And thanks in advance for any help with this...:-)
I just bought a used Zen 32GB player ( I haven't received it yet) and already know it's missing the installation CD. I'm anticipating some problems that hopefully will be addressed here.
I DID read the FAQ for the Zen player but stil not completely clear (sorry!)
I already have CreativeMediaSource 5 Organizer on my computer from my VisionM and Vplus players.
) Without the installation CD, will my computer automatically recognize the new Zen 32GB player?
2) Will the CreativeMediaSource 5 organizer work to transfer files with the Zen? I find this to be the easiest way.....don't like using Windows Media and synching.
3) Assuming that I absolutely need the installation CD, where exactly do I download the origianal install software-

Re: Zen 32GB and CreativeMediaSource organizer potential problem?OBeen addressed on another forum. Yes, CMS5 will be useable with the player so you don't really need to install anymore software for it. If you insist on having more then this is what you can install. It is for XP . For converting Video files to play on the player I use & recommend this one has a preset for the player fast simple & free. The first thing you should do is charge the player fully. You may not need to do any firmware updating since the player has been previously owned & has most likely been done. Even if it has not I personally don't think firmware should be meddled with unless it is absolutely? necessary .

• HT5624 My husband, myself & our 2 daughters all use the same Apple ID but w different user names. Is this a potential problem?

4 members of my family use the same Apple ID but different user names
Is this a potential problem w privacy etc?

Since the Apple ID does not have a username, I suppose you mean different e-mail-adresses?
In theory, this is not a problem, but of course it can be difficult if you want to keep things separated. For example, logging in with you Apple ID will automatically set up iCloud and sync your calendar, reminder, notes, mails etc. You can disable this syncing on your daughter's devices, but then they won't be able to use functionalities unless they create their own accounts (for example set up another email account). I think (but I am not 100% on this) they will be able to create reminders/notes etc. locally on the iphone.
If you mean app-wise or legal-wise: No, this is not an issue. You can use your Apple ID and the apps you bought on up to five different devices. Still, for simplicities sake and to give everyone their share of privacy I personally would suggest different IDs for everyone.

• How to diagnose a broken 30 pin dock connector?

Is there a "diagnostic" application to determine if my Iphone 4 — 30 pin dock connector is fully functional? BTW - all lint and dirt has been removed (delicately). This iPhone has been able to perform TV/video out and mirror display with a (still) fully functional 30 pin to VGA connector, VGA cable and VGA equipped monitors. This phone currently cannot perform the same task. Only other variable is a conflict with iOS 6.1.3.
Thanks for any help.

• Can anyone help me. Every time I open iPhoto 9.2 and try to go to photo stream iPhoto quits unexpectedly.  When I reopen I get "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library.  Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems."

Can anyone help me.  I have iPhoto 9.2 and  Mac OS X 10.7.2.
Every time I open iPhoto 9.2 and try to go to photo stream iPhoto quits unexpectedly.  When I reopen I get "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library.  Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems."
I have read plenty of the posts on the subject and it seems that deleting the "3ivx" fixed the problem.  I looked at the detaied reports and see where it says "
Library/Application Support/3ivx" etc..
On my report it says "/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/*/iLMBiPhoto8Plugin".  Does this help with an answer?

I am also having this crashing problem. I am running lion on a 2010 mac mini. My iPhoto library is kept on an external drive. I just upgraded to iPhoto 11 and everytime I try to enable photo stream the app crashes. I have tried all the above suggestions, including re-installing iphoto from the Mac App store. Below are the first 50 lines of the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Tiff placed in Indesign and set to Multiply mode - potential problems?

I am set to send a file to print and would appreciate any heads up on any potential problems.
It's a simple file: cmyk yellow background colour with a bog standard Tiff of black line artwork. Because the Tiff is black artwork on a white background I've set the tiff to multiply mode so the white vanishes and I'm left with just the black lines on the yellow backround.
Is this the best way to go about this or does it (multiply mode) create problems? Would italways be best to attempt to create a psd with the black line work on a seperate layer (not a white background but transparent)?  What's the "industry standard" way to handle this?
Thanks.

If the artwork is just black ink, it should be saved as Grayscale or Bitmap mode. The white parts will take on the color of the frame fill. Grays will be somewhere between black and fill color, depending on the density, or you can change the black to another color.

• 7 pin DIN connector.

Hello Team,
What are the features of the 7 pin DIN connector on the right side of the PowerBook G4?
Is is just video, or does it include audio as well?
The PowerBook G4 comes with a conveter cable to composite video, if there is no audio does it also convert to 4 pin video so I can connect direct to a TV using S-Video?
If the 7 pins allow for video and audio is there a cable which has 7 pin DIN on one end and on the other end a S-Video DIN plus audio RCA connectors.
Thanks.

I hope someone can give a difinitive answer as it is badly documented by Apple and other places.
It seem that the 7 pin DIN is used to provide three output options using special connectors for video only....
1) 7 pin DIN video out
2) 4 pin S-video with dongle video out
3) Composite video out, cable supplied with PowerBook G4
No audio. It seems like to show video and audio on the screen you need to use the 7 pin DIN, as converted, to show the video, and the headphones socket to get audio.
Not a nice way to conect. The DIN connector is on the right and the headphones connector on the left.
If this is wrong, and I hope it is, then please let me know.

• Potential problems with using a report to run a commit in a separate LUW.

I am working with a classic Badi within a transaction where I wanted to commit some information to a database before the commit that occurs at the end of the transaction.
Putting a commit point directly inside the BADI caused problems with cursors that were open inside the transaction, so I researched some and discovered that Report Programs can run in a separate database Logical Unit of Work (LUW).
I coded my BADI to call a report which does some database work based on input parameters, and then commits this work to the database before returning control back to the calling BADI function.
Does anyone know of any potential problems from doing this?  It seems like a good way to get around restrictions on the use of commit points inside transactions, but I'm not sure if there could be potential undesired effects from doing this.
Has anyone tried this before?

Hi Clay,
Yes I did it too. We faced some issues with commit when using fm HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION . We had to enclose it in separate report which only then let us do physical change in DB.
What is to be noticed here as well is (according to SAP) that DB commit is triggered each time work process is released which happens when:
- system shows dialog message
- RFC call is executed
- new transaction is called
The above however didn't work for me in couple cases, but using separate SAP LUW solves the problem (as you already read). This happens each time:
- new report is called (SUBMIT ...),
- new transaction is called (CALL TRANSACTION ...)
- new asynchoronus RFC call is executed (CALL FUNCTION...STARTING NEW TASK).
This approach works fine for cases I met and had to overcome with such solution. So far we didn't face any issues with that. Works perfectly
Regards
Marcin

• Potential problems of burning a large quantity of CD's on Mac mini

At my work, we have Intel Mac mini's running Windows XP. One of my managers want a few of us to burn 220 CD's from our mini's instead of paying for CD duplication. Is there any potential problems in burning such a large quantity of CD's?

While the slot loading drives used in the Mac mini (and other Apple systems) are not the most robust, they are not fragile devices and should not be assumed to be incapable of use in a broadly similar pattern of demand as any other drive. Where they do suffer is in being relatively slow in performance and relatively fussy in media compatibility compared to tray loading devices. As long as you have patience, don't force the disks in (or out) and use media the drives 'like', 220 burns over 6 months should be within the drive's capabilities.
I do agree with the previous comments that it would make more sense, given the cost of an external burner, to use such a device instead, but that's as much to do with the fact that the improved burn performance and reliability would save more in labor time (and potentially media) than the drive would cost!
