3000 N100 0768-BXG Bios Problem

Hi All,
I'm in need of some urgent assistance.
Clients laoptop Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-BXG, Windows XP
I have just flashed the bios from 1.8 (63ET62WW) to 2.03(61ET34WW), but the way the website was worded did an update to 3.2 first, laptop crashed with a blue screen.
Got hold of version 2.03 (but did not have AdRomLdr.exe, ran WinPhlash.exe) , flashed laptop and got it loaded but know the laptop does not startup straight away. It takes several attempts before it fires up and windoes XP load normally.
During all this flash attempts, lost the original bios that was saved.
I have read various messages in this forum, but not positive answer on how to rectify this.
can anyone asist with a solution to this bootup problem that is occuring.

I see this is an old post, (Nov 2008!) but you describe EXACTLY my situation.

  • Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 DKU Battery problem

Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 DKU Laptop has battery issues. The battery shows 75% & total battery power remaining @ 76%.
The battery charge does not change when connected to the system with the AC adapter. The system will only function with the AC adapter attached. The system will not function on battery alone.
Is there some type of battery re-calibration available?   My husband checked the battery with a meter that shows that it still does have power.  The battery is a Sony LION; the original one purchased with the computer.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions offered!

  • What motherboard in my 3000 N100 0768-A53?

Hi guys! Have a problem with my Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-A53. Every time I hit the power button all it does is the heatsink fan spins and I hear the DVD drive and that's it! No beeps, screen is completely blank so no error codes. I removed DVD drive, hard drive, and ram from the laptop and still no go. From what I've been reading on the forums, it sounds like I need to replace the motherboard?
Now, if that is the case, I am confused on which motherboard I need for this laptop. According to the parts list on the lenovo web site my laptop uses motherboard model number 41W1201. Im I correct?  BUT, when I removed the ram from the laptop I was able to see the sticker on the motherboard with model number 41W8032.
Why does the web site say one motherboard model and I have different model installed ? What's the difference between both motherboard models?  Can I purchase either motherboards and transfer the CPU, DVD drive, ram.... From the old unit and use it with the new with no problems?
    Thanks for the help guys

make sure that your playback devices are enabled.
right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar > select 'playback devices'
in the empty space, right-click and select both 'show disconnected/disabled devices'
do you see icons for your speakers and headphones now?  you may need to enable both of these.
you can also try the troubleshooter to discover any connection issues that may exist, instructions are below:
    - click 'start' > select 'control panel'
    - type troubleshooting in the top-right search field > select 'troubleshooting'
    - click 'hardware and sound' > select 'playing audio'

  • LENOVO 3000 N100 "lock-up", "stall" problem

My laptop will start, but stall/freeze at any step after pushing the on buttom. It stalled at "window is starting up", "login in screen", afetr login, during loading the start-up programs or few minutes after running any propgram like Internet Explorer or spybot. When it stalled, the mouse is still able to move arond, but nothing happen if you click an icon. If clicking too many times, it beep two times and the mouse stalled. After a lot of try-and-errors, I think I find out the cause (with 80% confidence). Somehow, I.E. is causing lock-up. I have I.E. 7.0 and Window XP. What shoud I do to fix the problem? I tried to remove I.E. 7.0 from my laptop and re-installed back. It didn't work. Then, I tried to install I.E. 6.0. The set-up says it detected a new version of I.E. installed on my laptop and won't install I.E. 6.0 even I.E. 7.0 is already removed. Thanks for the help.

  • Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - 30 pin LVDS pinout of graphic card

    Hello!
I have a N100 0768 model with GeForce Go 7300 (1680x1050). I've noticed that the LCD is connected through a 30 pin LVDS interface. Since I'm using an external TFT with 1920x1200 resolution I would prefer to use digital video output instead of VGA out.
Do anyone know what kind of 30 pin LVDS interface has the GF Go 7300 card in this model?
Is there any LVDS to DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort converter that I can connect to this connector to use my TFT with digital video ouput?
    regards,
    NA

hence why i refer you to get a USB 2 DVI converter.

  • 3000 N100 0689-A42 BIOS update problem

I bought this laptop one years ago and it came with 63ET62WW, V1.08 BIOS. After then, I haven't updated any BIOS.
But today, I go to the website  BIOS Update Utility - 3000 C200, N100   and download the 63af07us V3.11 BIOS (DL01108A.WPH). I run th AdRomLdr.exe as a administrator under Vista Basic. Then a Phoenix WinPhlash windows pops up. Next, I flash the bios without battery  and external USB device. After all, it says the BIOS succeed to update and shut down Windows automatically.
The problem is: when the laptop reboot, it still shows the V1.08 BIOS, not the V3.11 BIOS.
    1. Does it mean the BIOS update is fail?
    2. What should I do in order to update my bios sucessfully.

Hi Joseph, I don't know whether my guidance is still relevant for you and others after all this time but anyways, here goes. the version v3.11 is the version number for the bios utility file 63af07us and not for the actual bios that is going to be installed. as the bios image file in version 3.11 is DL01108A.WPH, the version number for the bios is also 1.08. even the latest utilisty version 3.12, file 63AF08US, which is only meant for XP loaded models has the same bios version 1.08 (actually meant for vista models) being installed on XP loaded lenovo n100 models. As I have XP on my N100, I can't even get the dam 3.12 utility to install the XP bios like it is supposed to.
So rest assured that you laptop has the latest verion of the bios, i.e. the version 63ET62WW, V1.08 BIOS

  • Need to Flash BIOS on 3000 N100 (0768-04U)

System will not boot to Windows (Vista) which is what came on this PC.  Current BIOS version installed is 63ET62WW which is v1.08.  How can I flash it without windows?   I want to flash to 63af08us which I believe is v3.12.
I've tried using the Start Up Recovery disk and it takes about 2.5 - 3 hrs to load disk 1 but it never comes back and asks for disk 2 or 3 which I have.   Using Rescue and Recovery Version 4.
This pc is for a friend of mine who is home for 28 days from Iraq and I need to get it fixed before he goes back.
    Please help if you can.
    Thanks

    Ah....now I understand your dilemma.
Your behavioral description would make me think generic drive corruption or malware.
Sounds like you're thinking along the same lines and were going for a 'nuke and repave' strategy.
I'm wondering if the problem with the 3rd party util may be that, like XP, they lack sata awareness on their own without loading a driver first, as XP does via the F6 option.
How is the drive controller set in the bios?
If it's set to sata, you could try setting it to ahci instead, then see if you can delete partitions.
I'm less than optimistic though, since I would assume that the restore disks would have this functionality natively.
I had a similar issue recently with a desktop.
After nuking the partitions, I still couldn't get through an XP install.
It would huff and puff, start being unable to find files on pristine cd, and eventually choke.
At that point I started stripping cards and devices out of the box to no avail.
Finally grabbed a linux disk and ran mem test.
To my joy, it started spewing massive errors.
Replaced the faulty mem module and all was well.
With a laptop, there isn't much to yank, but have you tried tossing a different drive in as a test?
If you put another drive in, have the bios set to ahci, and boot from an xp disk and it still glitches, then that at least eliminates malware as the boot culprit.
My local shop has notebook sata drives from $60 on up, so if you can't borrow one from work, it would at least be an inexpensive part.
I know NC is also a tech hub, so you probably have similar prices there.
I mentioned removing the nic as an option because I wasn't sure why you wanted to flash, and the readme for the bios update does reference a potential no-boot situation caused by a broadcom wifi chipset. I figure this is unlikely to be your issue though, as I would have expect such a problem to be either sporadic, or to have existed out of the box.
While it's internal to the laptop, it's a mini-pci card and is removable, though I don't recommend it without specific justification.
Removing the card is fine - but I've seen a lot of people screw up the little hirose connectors that attach the antenna leads to the card. They just aren't made for repeated insertions, though they'll do fine a few times if you're careful. If you want to try that, just be careful, and leaves the wires attached to the card when removing it. There isn't a lot of play in the leads, but there should be enough to get the card out of the slot.
Bios corruption is pretty rare, but anything can happen.
[Oh, another thought. You could slap the notebook drive in an external usb enclosure ($15-20 part), attach it to another pc, and the run utils on it to check the health of the drive.]

  • 3000 N100 0768 A52 won't boot

    1. I have set the BIOS to  (un)quiet so I can see what is going on. Power on, POST goes through to Mouse Initialized then stops and does nothing.
    2. following directions gathered... If I hit F1 while the POST is running, I get the BIOS set up. It shows I am on 1.08 although I have repeatedly flahed 3.12.
    3. continuing with directions gathered I move to "discard changes and exit", selecting that, and the Boot continues with my newly installed Windows 7. I guess this option skips the rest of the POST. Windows loads just fine and everything works. Windows in on my C: drive which is listed second in order; first is my DVD/CD drive.
    4. my memory has tested fine, and I took it out and put it back in.
    5. I can't figure out (and I tried) how to get to the CMOS backup batter to clear it by using jumbers or disconnecting the battery, so don't ask me to do that again unless you know an easy way...
    6. used Mac341.exe to try to re-set CMOS, maybe it worked, but it didn't change anything.
    7. I can live with hitting f1 everytime I power on, but there must be something wrong that can be fixed.
I can't think of anything else, but let me know what I should do or provide for an answer.
    Thanks
    David.

I can now boot.  I reverted the BIOS to the earliest available at Lenovo support. Maybe there will be other problems because of this, but I am up and running.

  • 3000/N100 Mouse/Screen Resolution Problems with Windows 7

This is my first post and I appreciate your service.  My problem is that after I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, I find that my touchpad mouse will freeze up & the screen resolution will changes occasionally when I boot up my computer.  When this happens, I have to restart my computer and hope that the mouse works and screen resolution is correct.  If it does work, it will continue to work until I turn off or restart the computer, then I cross my fingers again.  All my drivers are updated.  If the touchpad mouse is frozen, I can get my usb mouse to work, but I don't want to have to do that.  Has anyone else had this problem, or can anyone offer suggestions?
I never had this problem until I upgraded to Windows 7.
    Thanks in advance,

I am using the Win 7 Enterprise 32 bit trial version.
It is the FULL version, NOT an upgrade.

  • TV AC & PD Problems on 3000 N100 w/ Vista HP

I noticed there was LOTS more disk activity recently, particularly at startup.  There was never a 'freeze', but the response was definately sluggish.  Looking up what was happening with the Windows Resource Monitor it reported most of the activity was to pagefile.sys, the 'swapfile'.  Interesting...
Just bought a Brand 'G' laptop w/ Vista on it and it showed none of the problems...  Uh oh.  Time to investigage more.
Noting that some of the latest updates and patches were causing problems on Vista (it's been out over a year now?), that was the first place to start.  Uninstalling the software bit by bit, I think I may have found something interesting.
When TV Access Connections 5.02 is loaded the massive pagefile.sys actiivity happens.  With just the prerequisites, no problems.  I've seen this to varying degrees for quite awhile, so it's probably <?> not a 5.02 problem exclusively.  Also noted that when the Presentation Director is reinstalled, the same problem occurs.  The extended boot up time is significantly impacted.
Is there an underlying driver that needs a Vista SP1 update so the top level apps don't crater the machine's performance?  At the time all drivers where up to date according to the TV SU tool.
BTW, run all this on Win  XP Pro SP3 on a T61p, and it all seems to run perfectly.  Just on the Vista machine does it act out.
If there's a solution, other than keeping it nuked off my system, I'd be glad to hear it.  Otherwise consider it a 'bug report'.
    TIA..

    Hello,
Vista is a bit different in using ram, google: superfetch.
In the beginning, Vista performs a lot of tasks, like doing automatic restore points, defragmentation, superfetch learns about
your behavoir and is loading the demanded programs in ram.
You can disable them, look for tweaking vista in google, there a lot of suggestions.
Another simply suggestion is, to leave Vista alone one or two nights to get ready to use.
Then Vista will serve a good user experience and you would´t go back to XP, a lot of users said.
Also I would suggest not to update your Thinkvantage programs, when it isn´t necessary.

  • Lenovo 3000 N100 audio problem

i use a 3000 N100 0768-B9G notebook with win Xp for a year and for some reason i had to format the Hard drive yesterday. i reinstalled my Win Xp and visited the site and downloades the audio drivers for the sound but nothing happend there was no device. then i downloaded the system update programm. it downloades all of the drivers including one for audio (different from the one from the lenovo site) and this time i had a audio device (not the old one though) my speakers were off and when i pluged external speakers to the speakers in the sound was horrible...what can i do?

Problem is that I have downloaded ALL DRIVERS from link you provided (www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=%2Fproductpag_1";return this.s_oc?this.s_oc(e):true">http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=/product.do?template=%2Fproductpage%2...) but audio, video and network controller still doesn't work.
Please, does anybody know where is possible to find 'working' drivers? Drivers provided by above link are not for Lenovo 3000 N500 configuration. Neither, on this configuration is not possible to download Windows XP SP3.

any idea about how to make it faster!!!!?????

1- What is your antivirus (if you use one)?
2- You probably have a lot of programs set to start with Windows...so you can open msconfig (Start --> Run --> msconfig) and disable what is useless. If you're unsure if the application XYZ is required or not, post its name and I will tell you what it is.

    Hello
I have the **EXACT** same 3000 N100 that you have..... I also had Vista pre-installed and disliked it intensely. I spent several days working on downgrading to XP and figured out a very easy way of doing it. I created a step-by-step instruction sheet. Locate the following on this forum.... "I Explain How To Downgrade From Vista To XP On A 3000 N100 Laptop"
Hope this helps you if you have not already downgraded.
