301 Wiki SSL redirect via Server Admin not working

I can't get http://myserver.com/wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. I have other 301 redirects to send users to https pages working fine. How can I fix this? Thanks for your time - it's much appreciated. (Mavericks/Server Admin 3.1.2)

Regarding the redirect, I don't really understand why it's not possible. You can edit the non-SSL website in Web and add a 301 for /Wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. In fact you can redirect the entire site to SSL - but that is problematic. I can understand why Mavericks server would be designed to automatically use SSL for wiki logins, if it's available. I only looked at redirects because this was not working. Without a redirect or with a redirect - I can login to Wiki via non-SSL or SSL. Where (specifically in which text file) are these redirects created using Server Admin written to? I can't find them in apache2/httpd.conf. Thanks again for your help.

  • Print Queue Management via Server Admin not working

We have Xserves (10.5.8) running the Print Service for queue management to our printers. Clients print through the server just fine.
When the printer jams or is otherwise paused, print jobs pile up in the queue as expected. The queue can be seen and managed by logging into the server, going to Server Preferences/Print & Fax and selecting the print queue.
However, when the queue for the paused printer is viewed within Server Admin/Print, the queue shows as empty and therefore can't be managed. We want to use Server Admin for this function because:
    1) Server Admin can be run remotely on a workstation, so no login to the server required.
    2) We can assign Print Service management rights to select non-admins so they can manage the queues.
Any ideas on why Server Admin fails to show spooled jobs? Is it working for anyone else?
I am using Server Admin version 10.5.3 which are the latest available that comes with Server Admin Tools 10.5.7. We had been running 10.5.7 on the Xserve and it didn't work then either.

Here's a bit more information about our setup and our experiences with Apple's CUPS implementation:
On the server, all printer queues are set up with only lpr and ipp sharing enabled with the PPD setting for each printer set to Generic Postscript. We found that setting the PPD to the printer specific one on the server caused problems when clients tried to use printer specific options, like paper tray selection, etc.. The selection would be undone, apparently because the driver on the server would override the previous settings. Using Generic Postscript allows the client PPD settings to go through unmodified. Our printers are general a mix of HP LaserJets and some Sharp Copiers.
All clients use lpd to the server queues with the printers' actual PPDs configured. Using ipp is superior in that printer feedback (jams, out of toner, etc) makes it back to the clients, but ipp only works when the client, the server, and the printer are on the same network. If the ipp client is not on the same network, the client spooler immediately goes into a paused state and the print job is stuck on the client.
Using lpd to the server queues works reliably, but there is no feedback to the client. Jobs disappear from the client queue and go to the server, appearing to the user as a successful print. If the printer is down, there's nothing they can see or do about it.

  • Remote Server Admin not working from outside of network for 1 server

Our company recently changed ISPs and I had to change our two 10.4 server's IP addresses. We have a mail server (intel xserve) and a file/web server (quicksilver g4). Both servers have two network cards in them. The problem is two-fold:
1- I can successfully manage the Xserve machine locally on our network and from my home. However, I can only manage the Quicksilver g4 server locally. Any kind of external access is not even acknowledged.
2- I'm not sure if I missed any steps when changing IP addresses for these server-based computers. Also, I'm not sure if I correctly set our dns names to the correct IP address.
For some background, this is the exact IP update process I used for each server:
Quicksilver G4 (file/web server) - Installed network card #2 and configured it with the new Public IP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. In Server Admin I set our website to use the new public IP address. (network card #2 has no firewall device in between it and the internet.)
Then, I configured the default network card #1 to a static, yet private IP address that's behind our DLink firewall device with the rest of our network.
Intel Xserve (e-mail server) - Network card #1 was the only one setup before our network change. It had a static, public IP address. When we changed ISPs, I configured network card #2 to the new static, public IP address supplied to us by the new ISP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. This new IP address is where all email traffic currently gets pointed to. (All mail is successfully sent and delivered.) Until our former ISP gets shutdown, I still have network card #1 configured to the older static public IP address. After the old ISP is shut off, I plan on changing network card #1 to a static, private address.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What should I check in AD?  I am by no means an expert with AD.
Yes, I am using the same client OS.
I am talking about RDP over the internet, like from home to the office.  We have a static IP assigned to the router from ISP.  A static internal IP assigned to the server on the LAN.  And the router port forwards 3389 to the assigned IP.
It was working fine before we reinstalled Server 2012.  These are the steps I took when reinstalling:
    1. format drive and install OS
    2. rename the server
    3. install SQL server
    4. Install TFS and SharePoint
    5. Add Active Directory role and promote to Domain Controller
    6. Add domain users
    7. Enable remote access on the server and add users to remote access list

  • Share point in server admin not working correctly... I think

I suspect that the share point in server admin is not working correctly. In workgroup manager when I click on a user and then click on the "home" tab, under the full path field I see a file path of:
    afp://server.mydomain.com/Users
However if I go to Server Admin -> AFP -> Share Points then click on the Users share and then click on the share point tab below, enable auto mount is disabled. How can this be possible? I thought for a directory to show up in home in workgroup manager it had to be set as an auto mount. Has something possibly corrupted? And what?

  • Server Admin not connecting to Leopard Server when accessing via VPN

    Hi everyone,
Recently, as the title suggests, Server Admin (or Server Preferences, for that matter) would not connect to my remote server via VPN. I'm quite sure that the server is working nicely, as the users (both of them lovely young ladies with considerable charms, which makes on-site support quite interesting, if distracting) didn't call me to complain, and I can login via SSH with no problems.
The server is a Mac Mini, connected to an Airport Extreme (gigabit N), which in turn connects to our ADSL modem, if that helps any.
Now, I did tinker around a bit with the settings before this happened, so I think it's probably my fault (well, I started my "career" of administering this server a week ago, what do you expect), so I suppose I may have inadvertently limited access to a service required for Server Admin and Server Preferences to function.
If anyone could tell me which services are absolutely necessary for Server Admin to function, or at least where to start looking, I'd be immensely grateful. I didn't yet go on site to try and wrestle the whole thing from there, as the travel costs are non-trivial, so I'd rather do it remotely, if at all possible.

This is exactly the difficulty I am having with a 10.5.4 Intel xserve. I have established a VPN connection that connects me to my business LAN, and I know it has carried out the connection because there are a number of things I can access properly that are not available on the public internet. For instance, my LOM ports are restricted to my business LAN, and when I connect to the server via VPN I can access teh LOM ports and using server monitor. However, when I try to use Server Admin, nothing works. It won't connect. I too am confused. All traffic to the xserve is allowed via the business LAN. I thought all traffic was supposed to be routed to the VPN server when connected via a VPN. If this is the case, shouldn't Server Admin work? When I go on site and connect my computer directly to the business LAN, I have no difficulty using Server Admin.

  • Software Update via Server Admin 10.5.1 not working.

I have a headless XServe running 10.5.1 that I control using Server Admin. Unfortunately, the feature to install updates via Server Admin doesn't seem to be working.
When I click Check Now, it says it is "Checking for new software", then stays for a bit on "scanning in progress". It then stops, and there's no updates listed.
When I use ARD to log into the machine and run Software Update there, there are updates to be installed.
Does anyone know why this isn't working?

I experienced this with a pre-release build from the past.
You didn't specify where the build came from. Is it possible that the Admin that gave you the disk gave you an older pre-release build?
These disks often came from bit torrents or the developer connection pre-release builds. Todays modern binaries are not compatible with the pre-release OS, so its typical to see the error messages that you have experienced.
If you used a genuine apple branded production build then you may want to try the update again as I've seen that the update servers go down from time to time.

  • Server Admin not responding after upgrade to 10.5.6

    Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server
    Upgraded from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6.
When you open Server Admin and click on the server in the right hand side list. It will not show any information. Removing the server and re-adding it solves nothing.
Connecting from another computer solves nothing.
I replicated the issue by completely re-installing OS 10.5.
Upon installing 10.5 Server Admin reported all information fine. After installing 10.5.6 update, Server Admin stopped working.

    Hi
+". . . click on the server in the right hand side list . . ."+
What Server Admin are you using? All the Server Admin applications I've ever used the server is added and accessed on the left hand side panel.
Do you perhaps mean Server Preferences?
Have you tried removing the listed server and re-add it using the server's FQDN, IP address, .local name or its loopback address?

OSX server - Comment on Wiki (Mountain Lion Server) does not work - it always give an error "Comment could not be saved, please try again" eitheir upgrade from Lion Server or fresh install.

  • Mail, iCal Server and iChat server will not work over VPN

I have an Airport Extreme Base Station at the office running the network. Behind it sits a Mac Mini Snow Leopard server running 10.6.3. The ports necessary for Mail, iCal Server and iChat work fine through that external connection. I can also connect with VPN from my 10.6.3 clients.
HOWEVER, when I connect with the VPN clients, I am suddenly unable to access the Mail, iCal Server, Wiki server and iChat server. All connections time out. I can ping the server and I can do other things that do NOT work on the public Airport like ssh or VNC. ssh and VNC are closed at the airport extreme.
So it's pretty odd. When I'm connected via the VPN, all ports that are forwarded to the Snow Leopard server time out over the VPN.
I've tried various and sundry configurations with the VPN client. This includes trying to send all traffic over the VPN, moving it up in the service order, etc. etc. Nothing fixes it. DNS resolution is working fine, however when I do a wireshark capture of ppp0 traffic, I notice that SSL and TLSv1 handshakes appear to occur on the public IP address instead of the private network IP address... and they're all resets.
Has anyone gotten this to work successfully? Like I said, all ports that are NOT forwarded through the Airport work fine over the VPN, but will not work when connected to the VPN. It's really bizarre.

New data: any ports that are normally forwarded on the Airport Extreme to the Mac Mini server will not work when connected to the VPN.
For instance, if I have imaps/993 forwarded from the Airport Extreme to the Mac Mini, it works fine over the Internet. If I connect to the VPN, I can connect to all OTHER services on the Mac Mini, but Mail, for instance, will not work.

  • Server does not work in yosemite

Help!  My OS X Server does not work after upgrade to Yosemite!  Disaster!!!

After the disappointment that I cant manage the servers running the previous versions of OSX server from my upgraded desktop. I upgraded my office server to 10.10 Yosemite with OSX Server 4.0 I am still not able to connect.
I can remote desktop into the server without a problem (both are on the same LAN with the server on .local). But the Server app is not able to connect.
    Actions taken so far:
Update software on desktop to 10.10 and Server 4.0
Update software on server to 10.10 and Server 4.0
Verified connection by pinging IP and .local
Verified to connect to the drive and screen sharing via local network
    Rebooted router + switch
    Rebooted desktop + server
If you manage OSX servers for clients, keep a system on 10.9 around so you can still keep your business running.
Upgrading the server needs to be done on site with display, keyboard and mouse connected.
    Apple please fix a.s.a.p.

  • I updated iTunes to 10.5 and now in my Netgear Stora iTunes server is not working anymore

I updated iTunes to 10.5 and now in my Netgear Stora iTunes server is not working anymore.
Configuration: OSX Lion with Server, iTunes 10.5, latest firmware for the Stora.
Can this be confirmed to be a bug introduced with 10.5 ?
I also saw some people mentioning the same problem on Synology NAS.
Seems like the 10.5 uodate broke something.

Definitely seems to be a cross-platform bug in iTunes 10.5 concerning all NAS disks. Shared libraries on network drives worked fine under 10.4.1, but now there is just an endless loading cycle with no error message or time-out. There is a bit more about it in this thread.
