30GB ipod freezes at black apple screen.

Alright, i don't know what the deal is with this thing. I've had it for maybe 2 months. And it just started acting up within the last two weeks. At first there was about a 5 second lag when trying to skip between songs and/or executing any commands. And my laptop didn't want to recognize it (running Windows XP)and yes i made sure the USB hubs were on. So that was the issue for a while. So i ran the updater and updated the ipod and itunes. Didn't work. So i restored my ipod...completely erasing it. Now whether it's empty or has my music on it, it won't start. It'll just go to the black apple startup screen. I can however get it to go into Disk Mode. So what's the deal?

hook it up to your computer then try to put the device into DFU Mode by holding down the power button for 5 seconds, without releasing the power button hold down the home button for 10 seconds, release the power button but don't release the home button for 15 seconds. once it is in DFU mode click iPod touch then click restore

  • Why does my iPhone 5c go to black apple screen when I unlock it?

When using my messaging, if my phone locks when I unlock it, it goes directly to the black apple screen that usually appears when turning my phone on. Then it will eventually go back to my messages. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it?

    Hi MrsBarnett10,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone not unlocking normally while using Messages,   you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

  • My MacBook freezes on the Apple Screen

My MacBook freezes on the Apple Screen. What should i do?

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk. You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
    Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

Tried to install Yosemite on my Macbook Retina Pro stuck at Black Apple Screen Progress bar is about a third done. Beach Ball is spinning been more than five hours. Tried a reboot, zapping Pram etc. still no go. Should I reinstall old system and if so should I use my Time Machine back up or do a fresh install of Mavericks?
**** everything was working so nicely before I tried the Yosemite update.

    Hi,
Do you mean that you're unable to logon to Windows no matter via normal start or safe mode, and startup repair doesn't work with the disk?
For this error "gets stuck at 'Loaded: \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\avgidsha.sys' every time", hope this link can help you

  • IPod classic hung at "black Apple" screen

My 160GB Classic was hung up so I re-set (menu + center select button.) The "black apple" appeared in the screen, but will not move past that point. It appears to be hung in the reset mode.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Bucky123

Did you try to reset it again?
If it resets but still gets stuck on the Apple screen, see if you can force it into disk mode after a reset...

  • My ipod Classic hangs and freezes on the apple screen.  It will not do anything.  I tried to restore using iTunes, but came out 1415 error code, and cannot do anything about it.

My iPod Classic which I rarely uses.  I try to refresh it and put new song into it.
As I try with iTunes, it runs very slow and show that it had problem, need to restore it.
When I tried, it will not and hangs, also slows my HP Win 7 system immensly.
I tried to reset, pressing the middle and menu botton, now it hangs on the apple screen and remains there forever.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes.

  • IPod stuck on black reboot screen and won't boot up

I realize I made a mistake now. I went to Disk Utility and formatted my iPod for UNIX file system. I wanted to be able to plug it into a Linux machine and copy some files over.
Now the iPod is stuck on the black reboot screen with the dim Apple logo. I can hear the hard drive in it attempting to boot up every few seconds.
I can't get iTunes to see the iPod when I plug it in the dock. I can't even get my Mac to see the iPod now.
Any suggestions on how I can Restore it? Or did I kill my poor iPod?

I think I found the solution:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61584
Your suggestion is correct but I have to have it in Disk Mode first before I can format it back to HFS+ and then Restore.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Startup freezes on gray apple screen

I've restarted twice and it freezes on the gray apple screen. No kernel panic message, no error message, nothing. No peripheral devices plugged in. No new RAM installed. It just decided to start doing this today.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.

Your directory is corrupted. It could be from a bad block on the hard drive, incorrect shutdown procedure, or even hardware issues (possible but not likely).
You will either have to reinstall (not fun) or purchase a utility like Disk Warrior.
I checked further and found this post on another web site:
DiskWarrior and invalid key length on Mac OS X hard drives
I had a problem where a hard disk of mine wasn't mounting -- it just wouldn't appear in the finder. It did show up in Disk Utility, where it reported that it had an "invalid key length", but Disk Utility would not repair it. I tried to use Tech Tool Pro 3 and Tech Tool Deluxe for OS X, but neither of those would even let me select the volume.
Some searching on the web suggested DiskWarrior. It retails for about $100, but I was able to get it on a special for $80. I ran it, it found the volume, and fixed it right up. I highly recommend the program to anyone with an invalid key length error.

If DFU function won't work, it would be better to restore your iTunes. Just make sure that you will have it backed up every once in a while so you'll have it ready for this type of problem.
