30GB Ipod Update failure...can anyone help??

I've got a 30 GB Ipod just recently downloaded ITunes7 and have no problems except for when I try and update my Ipod I keep getting this error...
-iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the internet.
Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.
It's been irritating the **** out of me because I can surf all over the iTunes Store with no problems so I know the program is working. Any thoughts or ideas on how to remedy this. Thanks in advance!

try reseting the ipod first hold the center and menu button for around 8 sec the screen will go black a apple logo will appear also try and shut your comp down with the ipod plugged in when the comp goes down you can unplug it safely try that and see if that helps

There is no 4.2.3 and over-the-air updating was introduced with iOS 5.0.
You will need to connect your iPhone to the computer you sync with. When iTunes opens click on the name of your iPhone under DEVICES on the far left frame. Move to the Summary tab to the right and click on the Update button.

Reinstalling Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. HT1349 I have registered with my local library and can download books. But these are not being shown in ITunes, the Library does not show 'audiobooks'. I have an ipod 6G. can anyone help please?

I have recently purchased (from the States) an ipod nano 6th generation. I belong to a local library and can download books from the audiobooks online section. Problem is, my iPod when synced to iTunes, does not show Library as a category and audiobooks. For some reason, it is allowing me to download the books to my iPod, but I am unable to delete them from the iPod, and also, it is giving an echo (I think somehow it is downloading twice which is giving an echo effect). Not sure what is going on, but if anyone can advise me on this I would be very grateful.

If you have an issue with the audiobook showing up in music, check to see if those tracks are labeled as audio books or music. The article below will explained as well as I have highlighted the main portion for changing that information.

IPod G5 froze, can anyone help with a fix?

My iPod G5 froze today with the screen and backlight still on. When I try to reset it (pressing menu and play), it does nothing, but the buttons still click like they should. Any suggestions?

Hey there,
Have you tried hooking the iPod up to your computer? If you can do that, it may be a good idea to restore the iPod, but only if you have everything on your iPod backed up somewhere safely because restoring it will return the iPod to its original default settings. If that doesn't work, you could always just let the battery die and then you should be able to hook it up to your computer. Hope this helps. Also, make sure you have tried all of Apple's 5 Rs which can be found below.

No sound after Flash update. Can anyone help please?

After installing the latest flash player update yesterday (11.5) I no longer have any sound in You Tube in IE9. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm also having this no sound issue, some youtube videos have sound and others don't. The ones with no sound also pause and then fast forward.

I'm using IE9 and Winds 7 32bit system.

What was the complete wording of the error message?
Without that all I can suggest is:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

What are you trying to download? If you are referring to the recent security update, just ignore the error and select the option to open the installer. It's fine.

Help!! Itunes won't let me downgrade on my 2g ipod touch. Can anyone help?

I just got a macally microphone for the ipod touch and I found out that it's not compatible with the 3.1.3 firmware. So I have to downgrade to the 3.0 Firmware in order for the mic to work. But that's the problem, it won't let me downgrade at all! I tried holding in shift, then pressing restore. That didn't work. Every time I try to downgrade it says "The ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)" Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you actually have the 3.0 FW on your computer, you may be able to downgrade by first putting your Touch into "DFU Mode", then use the Shift-Restore technique to select the 3.0 OS file. I won't go into the DFU Mode instructions here, plenty of explanations around here and the web in general. Note that this is not a practice supported by Apple.

N8 Maps update problem - can anyone help

Hi i connected to OVI and was told there were updated maps.
It stopped half way through update.
My N8 had all maps etc removed
I have decided to reload ,aps 1 by 1 to my device using OVI
However th "NETHERLANDS " map part downloaded and wont transfer to my device
I seem to be able to download others.
Sadly using Mobile broadband until i return to London and fixed Broadband Connection
Any ideas if i delete device maps again and try and download ALL does anyone think this will work.
I have not try SUICIDE REBOOT and dont intend to.

No i don't think you should do the hard reset, i remember first time when i decided to use the Ovi suite to update my maps, it wouldn't work, i just kept trying till finally downloaded all the maps to my N8, i'd say maybe uninstall the maps on your device and install it again and then try to download the files through ovi suite. good luck
