30gb ipod with bluetooth adapter?

i would like to use a bluetooth adapter with my ipod. im not sure which generation ipod i have though. i bought the 30gb when it first came out. which generation is it? i found a panasonic rp-bt10 earbuds and icombi ap21 adapter, but they say 4 generation or newer?
are these 2 accessories worth buying, will they work, or are there better alternatives?

so does the panasonic rp-bt10 earbuds work with the ipod classic? i was going to buy it but the add only includes the ipod 5th generation as compatible, and it does not list the ipod classic! if not, does anyone know of a similar bluetooth earbud compatible with ipod classic?

I use Bluetooth with my other accessories (PDA, Mouse, etc)and it works well but I still have to haul around a cable for syncing my IPOD. I can sync my PDA with Bluetooth but not my Ipod.

When do we get ipod with bluetooth

I'm on my third i-pod and the battery has now given up. I'm getting about 2 and a half hours which isn't long enough to update the ipod with my 8,000 songs. I cat charge and connect at the same time so its effectively useless. Bluetooth connectiveity would be easy cheap and really effective for quick updates, even if not great for large amount of data transfer.

Hi, I think that you are the last and best way to discover if my ipod 5th generation (year 2007) will work with some headset or headphones bluetooth using an adapter!
I usually use my ipod while running and playing sports ecc, so I would use it without wires that I hate!
Do you know if exists an app for my ipod that works connecting my ipod to my headphones?
I ask because those king of article are very expensive, and I wouldn't spend my money for nothing!

HT1345 If you have an iPod Classic with BlueTooth adapter, will the connected device control play, pause, skip etc.?

Wanna connect one to my cars Bluetooth, but I want to know if the car will be able to control the playback, or if I'll still have to use the controls directly from the iPod.

I'm not 100% sure, but my gut feeling is that you'll need to run the controls from the iPod still, but why not just give it a try anyways?

Unable to sync 30GB Ipod with Windows Vista

Hi! I just got a new laptop today - it has 64 bit Vista on it. I downloaded the 64 bit version of Itunes and was able to transfer my music to the computer into itunes. But it will not sync. The ipod is formatted with FAT 32 which is what I think maybe the problem but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any idea how to make this sync? Thanks!

This seems to be a really common problem with Vista. I have been trying for weeks to get it to work; sometimes it syncs a little, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it appears in the Devices list, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it appears for a few seconds and then disappears. I find that, if I disable the Ipod Service and the ItunesHelper service and then restarts Itunes, I get a better, albeit still unreliable, connection but still rarely will it sync.
Tried it with Windows Firewall on, off and all points in between in terms of opening the requisite ports. Tried it with iTunes 7.2 and still no better. Tried resetting the Apple TV numerous times at various stages of this marathon.
What I have NOT tried yet is to completely remove iTunes 7.1.1 AND Quicktime and then reinstall everything and that will be tonight's exercise.
I am currently connecting and syncing quite happily from my girlfriend's Toshiba laptop so there is definitely no problem with the Apple TV.
I will post the results of my iTunes reinstallation attempt once I have it.
Has anyone got a working Vista implementation that we can discuss?

30GB iPod won't sync with new iMac

I used my 30GB iPod with my old G5 iMac for years without any problems. 2 months ago I bought a new Intel i5 iMac and I have a lot of problems to sync it with the computer. I get the message that the content of the iPod is unreadable and I need to restore the iPod. I restored the iPOd 3 times since I got my new iMac. Is there something I can do about it?

Try a low level format of the iPod's Hard Disk using Disk Utility. See this article for a walkthrough on reformatting your iPod.

Using an iPod with multiple Macs

Hi all!
I have a 30GB iPod with color display. I've been using it with my Power Mac G4. That's where I keep all of my music and photos.
However, I just got a Pismo PowerBook, and I would like to use my iPod to play music through it while I'm at school, rather than copy my gigs of music onto the PowerBook.
I used to have the iPod set to automatically update everything, but in order to listen to music on my PowerBook, I had to set it to manually manage.
Does this mean that I have to manually sync everything, or manually copy music to the playlists on the iPod?

If the songs/photo differ on the two computers, the primary computer, where you have your songs stored in this case your G4, you can keep automatic. However, on your PowerBook, just keep it manual.

30GB iPod defrag?

I'm a crazy person when it comes to computers. I want to know everything that's going on inside them. One example is the fragmentation of the hard drives. I pay very close attention to this, and defrag every week. So, I just got my 30Gb iPod with it's fancy-pancy video playing glory. After a few days, I used the defrag program that comes with windows to analyze the iPod's HDD, and it only had about 1% fragmentation, so no problem, i just left it alone. Now it's been about a month, and the HDD is up to about 45% fragmentation. I've read that mac users can buy this program or that program to defrag the iPod, but being a PC user, can I just use the defrag program that comes with windows?

no, i'm not adding or deleting very many songs, but I am storing about 1000 pictures on it, and deleting 100 and adding a new 100 every so often.... yea, that first number was with three zeros. I'd prefer not to restore it tho, so i think i'l just live with the decrease in performance that i've still yet to notice.

I cannot get my iPod Touch to sunc with my Bluetooth adapter. The adapteer works with other BT devices. I received a message stating "no device driver installed" I am presuming the message is associated witht eh iPod. Any help or ideas appreciated.

You can get a lot of Bluetooth adapters for iPod via Best Buy. You can even search it online.

I want to use a bluetooth adapter on my ipod nano 6G. I have an iO bluetooth adapter which runs off ipod power but when i use it the music is intermittent. Does anyone know if getting an adapter with it's own power will work? is the nano battery too small or not powerful enough to power an adapter?

IPod Nano crashes with BMW adapter after 1.3 update

Hi All,
I have a 1st Gen 4G iPod Nano that I have updated to the new firmware version 1.3. The problem is that now when I connect the iPod to the BMW adaptor kit in my car the iPod freezes after approximately 1 hour and will not change play lists or tracks. Then when I unplug the adaptor the iPod is frozen with "BMW okay to disconnect" on the screen. Once resetting, the iPod will go back to normal for approximately one hour and then the error will start over again. Does anyone have a suggestion or is it possible to revert to old firmware?

Here is my update on the issue:
While reconnecting and disconnecting the iPod, I accidentally dislodged the adapter from the stereo which resulted in a service call to BMW to reconnect the adapter.
I ended up purchasing the new Product Red iPod which works fine with the adapter. To sum things up, the fact that I just updated the firmware may not have anything to do with the BMW adapter problems. The BMW adapter is finicky. I have friends with the same adapter in an X3 as well as a Mini Cooper with the same issues; the adapter becomes loose and begins to malfunction.
My recommendation is test your adapter with another iPod and if the problem persists take your car back to BMW to fix the problem.
*Note: Cold weather should not affect how the adapter works because mine has been working fine in -30 degree Celsius weather

Volume control problem with 30GB iPod 3G, Universal Dock, and Apple Remote

I just hooked up my 30GB iPod 3G to the Universal Doc and tried the my new Apple remote. The only buttons on the remote that work in controlling my iPod while on the dock are the play/pause and the skip forward and back buttons.
For some reason the volume up and down buttons don't adjust the volume on my iPod while it's on the dock. Any ideas? Shouldn't the volume up and down work? Or do they only work on the newer iPods?
Any info appreciated.

Thanks for your response. No the iPod doesn't respond at all--the volume display doesn't come up or change.
When I press the play/pause or either skip forward or back on the remote, the iPod, while on the dock, lights up and responds to the command as it should. But when I press volume up or down on the remote the iPod does not respond at all.
According to Apple's store info on the remote, the volume up/down controls should work. I am wondering if maybe it doesn't work with the 3Gs for some reason. But if that is the case, Apple should indicate that. It is kind of frustrating to not be able to adjust the volume.
