IPOD freezes after 2-3 songs, i have 10000 songs.

hmmm im not really sure why that happens or how to fix it. but i just wanted to say that to reset the ipod, its not with the hold switch and menu/play. its by holding down the \play button with the center click button, if you have an ipod with a click wheel. if its one with the 4 light up buttons, then you hold down play and menu.
    i hope that helps!

  • Library gone, ipod freezes with sync, and won't save positions in videos

Wow. Three major issues with iTunes/my iPod in three days. Have I set some kind of a record here?
Well, first off... I went to charge my iPod with the usb cable as I always do. iTunes is configured to pop up and sync with the ipod each time it sees that the device is connected. All seemed well, until I saw a message telling me the library on my computer did not match the one on my iPod. Basically asked me if I wanted to wipe out the music/video collection on the iPod and replace it with, well, NOTHING which is what appears to be in my iTunes library right now. That's right, my library is all gone. No big deal, right? Just point iTunes back to my media folders! Not cool. I've pruned SO MANY horrible songs within itunes without deleting the actual song files. my iPod will be getting at least 250+ songs I do NOT want to bring to work, or on my commute. I don't have my library backed up. Why would I? This should not happen. I did nothing to cause it, there's no "iTunes virus" which wipes our your library, is there?
Next problem... This morning when I gave my iPod a quick charge before work... Hold switch on "hold," iTunes hadn't popped up during the 30 mins I left it in.. Guess what? The iPod is frozen. Reset it. This'll be the third or fourth time this has happened to me.
Lastly, I've noticed that the iPod simply WILL NOT save the position I was at before shutting down the iPod after a viewing "session." No, that's not true. It will revert to some random spot in the video I was watching, perhaps the first "bookmark" I'd made, the first time I'd quit in the middle of a video. Every time after that it won't continue where I'd left off, but rather at that first spot in the video. This isn't a problem for ALL of my videos, just some.
And a fourth bonus problem:: When am I going to be able to categorize my non-purchased videos properly? I complained about this like 2 months ago and iTunes still hasn't been "fixed." I'm limited to keeping non-purchased videos under "music videos" which is just stupid.
    Homemade   Windows XP Pro

First off, you have to search the system for your purchased songs. There usually in the My Music/iTunes/iTUnes Music/(Artist name)/(Album Name)
If you can not find them there then search the system by going to start button>Search and type in the search m4p for audio and m4v for video. more on this here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301749
Its true apple doesn't offer redownloads BUT alot of people including me, have had success in emailing the music store, telling them what has happened, and getting an offer to "Redownload" all the songs paid for
Far as the malware goes, you have some type of malware on the system, if you didn't ewido wouldn't of sent off an alarm with a sound and you wouldn't have been removeing things with it. malware comes in many forms, sometimes installed by that "Free" program you get off the net, sometimes installed in the background when you goto a certain site. In some cases simply rolling the mouse pointer over an ad on a web page (Which is easy to do when its beside the scroll bar to the right) will have it install. I have 3 different adware scanners and still get one or 2 that gets thru now and then

  • Ipod freezes with certain songs

I don't know what in the world is going on with my ipod but right now it's freezing up when I want it to play certain songs no matter what I do. It functions well otherwise except for this small dilemma. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this?

    Possibly this?

  • IPod freezing, skipping

I have an iPod Video 30 Gig version. I have noticed that on many of my older songs and videos cause my iPod to freeze up to the point where I have to do a manual reset of the iPod. I have tried to do a restore to factory settings and resync but this appears to not help. When I play these same songs and videos in iTunes, they play perfectly fine without error.

I've had a problem a lot like that, except it has nothing to do with the older stuff on my ipod, my Ipod freezes with newer added TV shows and Music Videos that I download. Does anyone else have that problem? (Aslo with a 30g Video Ipod)

  • Ipod freezes when playing video through dock

Okay, this is a challenging one. I will be surprised if someone can help me figure this one out, but I will be very grateful!!
Picked up a brand new 60gb 5th generation video ipod the other day. 1.1 update already installed. Everything worked great. Was able to play videos through the AV dock, no problem, and was able to hook it up to the JBL stereo for the ipod, no problem.
Here is where it gets interesting. I took an avi video from my digital camera, and used Quicktime Pro to convert it into a .mov Apple Quicktime movie. I am using Windows XP. I then imported that .mov movie into itunes. Then I right clicked on the file and told itunes to convert it into the ipod format. I then hooked the ipod up to the computer, and the video was transferred to the ipod with no problems.
Then I was able to play the video with no problem on the ipod screen (not hooked up to the AV dock). Then I inserted the ipod into the AV dock that is hooked up to my tv. I played videos this way without a problem, before I loaded this new home made video. When I played the new video, I answered Yes to Tv Out, and right after that point my ipod froze up. No video played at all. Then I had to reset my ipod.
I tried this again several times, with the same result. This was now happening with regular videos that I downloaded from itunes. Also now, when I hooked the ipod up to the JBL stereo, and just tried to play a song, the ipod would freeze up. However, songs and videos play fine when the ipod is not hooked up to a dock.
It seems to me like my home made video somehow corrupted the software drivers for the port on the ipod.
Then to fix the problem, I finally had to do the dreaded RESTORE. I could not update the ipod, because I was already at version 1.1. I tried rolling back to an earlier version, but the updater told me that the update was not compatible with my ipod.
The RESTORE did fix the problem. The ipod was completely back to normal. I could hook it up to the JBL and the AV dock with no problems. Until...yes, I tried playing the home made video again. I just wanted to see if it was a fluke. Same problem came back....arrghhh!
He is another weird observation. I can start the video playing on the ipod, without it hooked up to the dock, and answer Yes to tv out. The video starts playing, then I can insert the ipod into the dock, while it is still playing, and the video plays fine on the tv, through the dock! Until the video finishes. Once the video finishes, the ipod freezes up again.
I wonder if this is a hardware problem, and I should just return my ipod. It seems like a software problem to me. I think if it is my home made video that is corrupting my ipod, I think itunes should be smart enough to not copy something to my ipod that is going to corrupt it.
Ha..ha...wow, sorry that was very long-winded. Anyone have any suggestions?
Dell Dimension 2.8ghz P4   Windows XP   2.25GB of RAM

All I can suggest is to re-encode the video as m4v with QT Pro, there might've been a problem in encoding. Also, try sending this same video (setting TV Out to Yes) with the iPod not plugged into the dock and with an Apple RCA cable, if you have one, hooked up to a TV. If that works, the dock connector might be damaged (unlikely) but it's possible. So once you've re-encoded, see if the dock situation works then. Good luck.

  • Ipod freeze unexpectingly and video problems

I have the older version of a 60 gb video ipod. Everytime my battery reaches halfway, my ipod freezes. Then after like 15 minutes, it shuts off. After it shuts off, it won't turn back on. After an hour later, I would try to turn it back on and it would show the 'out of battery' icon. But I barely even use up the battery yet.
Also, everytime I try to view a video, the video always freezes. And blue lines starts to show up. Sometimes the audio would screech too.

    Try restoring from backup.

  • Itunes Videos freezing with windows 7!

I just got a brand new dell studio last week; i installed itunes 9 with the 64bit and for the first few days it worked just fine and now I will be watching a movie on itunes and my computer will freeze and go black, requiring me to do a manual shut down because i can no longer move my cursor or click anything. I've heard other problems with windows 7 and itunes. When i insert a regular DVD into windows media it works just fine. So far my computer only freezes with my itunes videos but who knows next week it could be my music too!

I had the same issue for windows 7. Right click on the iTunes setup file and run as administrator, it works.

  • Ipod classis with videos not showing on TV with connection - Help

Got a new Ipod classic as I got into an accident with my first ipod. Trying to play videos (movie) from ipod classic to tv. Bought Belkin video connector and use with my old ipod. With the ipod classic, when I plug in, i can only hear the sound of the movie but cannot see the picture. need assistance. thanks

I had to replace my old 80gig Ipod, so I bought the new 160 gig classic. When I pugged it into my Sonic Impact V55 audio-video player that the old one worked fine in it will not work. The sound works for the music files, but when I use the TV out to play videos it says to connect the Ipod even when it is already connected. The same thing happens with a Belkin audio-video cord. The Sonic people say that this is because Apple changed the software in the new classic Ipods. I have spent a lot of money on accessories and can't believe Apple would do this without a remedy. Help!!

I sync all songs, photos and videos between my computer and iPod classic with no problems, but when I get to sync info I get this message: "iTunes cannot sync Calendar and contacts to iPod. Try logging out of Windows adn then logging back in".  Could you please help?

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

  • Updated my 30gig video firmware, now it doesn't work.

I little over a week ago I updated my firmware for the first time since I got my 30gig video nearly 2 years ago. I want to say it was 1.92 or something like that. I know itunes was up to date also since I just built this computer and had to install it for the procedure. After the update I finished updating my library and disconnected. I noticed when I unplugged it the battery meter was empty. I know it was fully charged before the update since it was plugged in to my computer for a while before. So I plugged it back in and when I unplugged it again, the meter still had the "charging" icon. I plugged it back in again to try and revert, but it was not being recongized. After trying to find solutions, I plugged it in 2 days later and it showed up so I immediatly tried to format it. The ipod turned off a few seconds in and now all I can see is an Apple logo on my screen. I can't reset and since my computer can't see it, I can't format it. Obviously it's far beyond warranty and I refuse to pay the support costs since I'm sure they aren't going to be helpful even though it was their software that bricked my ipod.
Edit: I should mention I have spent much of the last week searching for solutions with no luck.

    UPDATE
After getting a hold of a charger (it's complete BS that I need one after it goes that far and they no longer include them by the way) was able to get it visible again on my computer. I've formatted it, reverted it, even did the firmware again a couple times and it's still not working. The weird thing is that it's saying my firmware is up to date in itunes, but it's a much lower number than the update that caused this mess.
What I think his happening, even after all this, is that my ipod always thinks it's charging and therefor never turns off.
On a side note, this whole ordeal has really turned me off of Apple products. I don't know if things would have really turned out differently elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure I could have gotten official support without having to fork over money for it even though it was no fault of my own. I do appreciate the one person who tried to help.
