31.0.017 N95 Upgrade - Email / Nokia Messaging sto...

I was really enjoying the new push email service with firmware 30.0.x, but last night I upgraded to 31.0.017 and everything stopped working.
I tried to reinstall the new Nokia Messaging software (the Symbian Series 60 3.1 version - Nokia Email 9.04(34)), and that installation process appears to work. It then asks me to setup the email accounts. The problem is that it just sets up the email account the old way (under messaing) where it just connects on demand to the email server and collects the email. Unfortunately the new way where email is "pushed" to the phone don't seem to exist.  The email icon (the pink @ sign) appears under applications but when I click on it nothing happens at all.
Anyone have any one have any ideas?
Regards,
Piero

back up your device, use code # 2, the default code is always 12345, take out the memory card when you do this. once done reinstall it again and see what happens.
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list.
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is dead proceed with reflash if not, turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.

I find it very disturbing and anoying when I can not use Email softwares like Nokia Messaging or Seven with the latest Nokia set 5800 Music Express.
Can any one tell me if these softwares will be available for 5300 Express

As far as i remember, now the nokia email password is aligned with your personal mail password.
Just login with the username/password of your email service, for example, hotmail, yahoo, etc., and nm with automatically change your nokia email password.

I experienced the same problem on my phone and discovered that the problem was caused by the number of sent messages that I had on my phone. I reset my phone to use the Chone memory and the problem was fixed for me.

  • Nokia Messaging installing correctly on N95

I tried forseveral times installing Nokia Messaging on my N95 (including after firmwarere-install) and every time the same thing happens: I download the program from email.nokia.com(I don’t receive the SMS), install it, insert the User/ Pwd, the programcreates a E-Mail Box in the phone and that’s it. If I click the “Email” icon, the screen just blinks and nothing happens (no program opens). The phone wasbought unlocked, at a Nokia Retailer in NYC. What is happening? Is this NokiaMessaging all about configuring the default e-mail box? If so, how would thisnew “push e-mail” be configured (the phone has built-in a configurable e-mail retrievalroutine).
    Thanks forany help!!

I found one solution for this problem in an other topic
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&message.id=13542
However, I could not test it because I am not receiving the SMS msg. I am currently living in Brazil. Does any body knows if Nokia has an agreement with TIM in Brazil to send SMS? I have already received other SMSs from Nokia in this line...
    Hope it helps others,

  • Questions on Nokia Messaging (uploading sent email...

    Hi all,
    I have a few questions on Nokia Messaging;
Does it connect to (non-Exchange)  email servers via imap idle?
When I send an email, can it be uploaded to the 'Sent' folder in my email server?
When I delete an email from my Nokia, can the email be deleted from the server as well?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    1) No, even though the specs state otherwise. You may only have it pull Mails every 5 Minutes, or have them pushed using Nokia Messaging Service. Quite some disappointed customers hope this will change in the future, but I don't believe in it, because I feel nokia wants to force one to use their push service.
    2) No, at least not automatic. Of course you can sync your sent items folder and manually move your sent messages there from your local(on your phone)sent items folder, but that is not very efficient.
    3) Yes

  • Nokia Messaging: Sent emails are not saved on the ...

    Hi,
I use Nokia messaging (the latest -13 version) on a Nokia 5800. The server is a Imap server, not one of the automatically detected email providers. Sending and receiving of messages works. Unfortunately the messages are only saved locally on my phone, not on the server. How can I change that? How to I specifiy in which folder the messages are to be saved?

If you have performed a sync with the device since you restored this old backup, then don't bother looking for another backup. iTunes writes over the last backup each time you sync. If you were handling contacts in iCloud, you would find them by logging into iCloud. Or you can check settings and iCloud and see if the button it on for Contacts. Otherwise it might have been on the computer, if you had a program that syncs with iTunes and handles contacts, depending on the computer system you use. If Windows, it would be Windows Contacts or Outlook. If a Mac, there is a Mac Address book as well.

  • Removing an email account nokia messaging

    Hi,
I just wanted to share how I solved an issue with my E72 as another friend had a similar issue.
I setup my gmail account and it was a breeze setting it up and it was working properly (except when NM was down). BTW I use Roadsync for Exchange mails. My wife  wanted to check her email so I tried to add another mailbox with her credentials but NM refused to recognise it. I did a browser cache clear and then a restart. Post that I started getting all my wifes mails but not mine. Post that however many times I removed the mailbox and set it up again with my credentials I would only get my wifes mailbox. Not fun.
I logged into email.nokia.com and saw the setting - it had my name but all the folders from my wife mailbox. Looks like NM has an issue with its cache clearing (?). Anyway remove the mailbox at email.nokia.com and set mine again and presto it started working again.
Lesson learnt - the setup on the device is very spotty when it comes to changing setting so use email.nokia.com , remove the mailbox and set it up again.

You have been lucky, usually it ends up by a full hard reset plus cleanup of all Nokia Messaging setups on Nokia's site...
    Very lucky!

  • How do you forward, or move emails in Nokia Messag...

Help!! I cannot seem to find any command for forwaring emails in Nokia Messaging. I find it hard to believe Nokia did not put this utility in their email client.
It is not rocket science. Also, there is no way to move emails from one folder to another. I am looking to move certain emails from the Trash folder back to the Inbox. Even the simple Gmail client has both commands!
We are not asking Nokia to re-invent the wheel, just to copy it!!
    Can anyone help??

Hi, it's all done by keyboard shortcuts.  Go into your mailbox, select options and the help section - you'll find a list of all the shortcuts.  'f' is forward, 'm' is move . . .

  • Nokia Messaging deletes my emails

    Hi all,
I'm a new E66 user, I set up my email on Nokia messaging and started using today. I'm using an IMAP email server. I receives emails into my phone, they are kept in the server but after outlook receives the emails, they are deleted from the server. And after that emails are deleted from my phone immediately. It doesn't wait for 3 days or so.
And also I can't change "3 days" option from the options menu, it says "Setting can not be changed!"when I tried to.
Because I'm a new user, maybe I'm doing something wrong but I tried the options and couldn't find anything about it.I updated phonesoftware and download the last version of Nokia Messaging.
    Any help?
    Thanks

You're doing just great. When you pull your mail with Outlook, it will be deleted from the servers. Log in to Nokia Messaging with a PC and check the settings.

  • Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Html email cropped in nokia messaging on e72

  • Please help! Nokia N97 Email and Message Settings ...

I got the Nokia N97 in July on Contract with 02, and it appears its missing quite a few settings but most important are the email settings in the Retreival section.
The only settings its shows me are "Headers Only" i cant seem to retreive anymore than that. I have been looking online and it appears that others who have this phone have the complete settings in Retreival but I dont.
I desperately need to get the full settings is someone able to help me with how i go about resolving this?
    Many thanks in advance

yes for native email client off the phone the headers only option is normal. you download a full message upon selection of a particular header. i dont recall it behaving differently at least on my n97. nokia messaging the stand alone app that you can download behaves different and its actually a pretty good app as long as you don't have to pay for it. in some countries you have to pay for it and it has a major downfall, it only stores data on the c memory/phone memory and that is not really an option for me.

  • Unable to send emails via Nokia Messaging

I have had the device for about 3 months and I have never had problems sending emails before, however over the last 3 days when I try and send an email it just sits in my outbox and then after a while it says failed.
I receive emails fine so this is baffling me.
I've noticed a similar problem was addressed however that is specific to getting an error 500 message and I don't get that. I tried the work through anyway but it still didn't solve the issue.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
