3110c keyboard light stays on while video playback
3110c keyboard light stays on while video playback. Also pause and back button are displayed always. Is there are way to turn off keyboard lights during video playback. This could also save some battery power.
Thanks for the reply.
- Is there any process to suggest improvements to the phone firmware , like the issue i mentioned.

How to Set Left/right audio channel while Video playback
how can I controlling the left / right audio channel while video playback, I can't find any method or class for this in JMF, anyone that can direct me how to do it?
The way I found to control two stereo channel is to implement a plug-in Effect that will control two volumes (left/right) indipandently.
You can start from the example GainEffect from sun, and implement your control.
For eample, if you want to mute the left channel, simply set to 0 all the odd samples (or even...I don't remember exactly, try it).
You have then to add you plug in to the processor chain... again see the examples.
More complex effects (panning etc) can be done in the same way, but it seems to me that it's quite CPU intensive.

Why does my keyboard lighting stay on its lowest setting?
why does my keyboard lighting stay on its lowest setting?
Negative, that was the first thing I tried. I've also reset the SMC, nothing.
I can see a little bit of light ubder the keys (white light, not blue) when I dim my screen to the lowest setting, but when I press F6 to strenghten the light, it does not get any brighter. -

Lock mode while video playback.
Hi,
I have a C7 with Symbian Anna installed. I feel nokia should provide with lock mode in video player while playing a video. This will minimize the chances of exiting the video player or forwading by accidental touch. In case anyone else reads this, I found the solution on my own.
Go into settings/general/passcode lock and make sure that Siri is allowed when locked. -

Battery/power issue (orange light stays on while not plugged in)
I have an X31. My laptop is behaving as though it is running on AC power when it is not (ie. Charge light is on, power management settings in windows recognizes it as running on AC power). Battery will not recharge, though windows power management says it is recharging -- it does this regardless of whether the battery is in or not. Eventually, the battery died completely and computer could no operate without AC (date an time settings would even reset when unplugged).
On the advice of a computer repair store and forums with people of similar problems, I purchased a new battery. This did not fix the problem. The new battery is able to operate on what little power it holds from factory, but computer is still behaving as though it is plugged in when it is not.
If the battery is not the problem, what else could it be? Worried about motherboard.
Please advise.
KolynWelcome to the forum!
The charging circuit on your machine's planar has been damaged. If you're handy enough, you can open up the machine and start looking for a blown fuse...
As for date and time resetting, you need a new BIOS/CMOS battery, they're under $10 on eBay. If that fails to resolve the issue, you have another motherboard-related problem.
Good luck.

George

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
Good luck,

Video playback lagging while buffering
Having a problem with video in my iPad app. The video is loaded from a server into an FLVPlayback component. While the video is buffering, the video playback is extremely choppy (like 1-2 FPS), but as soon as the buffering is complete, it plays smoothly. So obviously, the buffering itself uses too many resources (I've tested both on an iPad Mini and an ancient iPad 1).
Is there any way to reduce the resource usage of the buffering process so I can start playing before buffering is complete? YouTube is able to buffer while playing the same devices, so it should be possible. The videos are pretty low quality and around 70mb, and the bufferTime is default, not that that should make a difference. But that's not the problem. The problem is that I cannot play the video smoothly while buffering is going on. It doesn't matter how much has actually buffered. It's as if the iPad's CPU is too bogged down by the buffering to play video at the same time, but I don't understand why, since YouTube and other apps (not made by me) are obviously able to do it on the same iPads.

I have successfully run Apple Hardware Test and it returned the error code...
4SNS/1/40000001:VPOR
A Google search reveals that this is a sensor error. The "V" of VPOR indicates a voltage sensor and the "P" indicates the sensor is on the Power bus. However don't yet know what the "OR" refers to.
I have had a non operative optical disk drive for a year or more but the fault with the video only developed in the last week or two. Could the "O" in VPOR refer to the Optical drive?
By the way, I got the impression from the instructions on running the Apple Hardware Test that I had to use the internal dvd drive to run the APT program from the install disk. But this turned out to be not the case. Just put install disk ito an external drive plugged into the usb ports and use system preferences to set this drive as the start up disk. -
Mapping Video Playback to Keyboard Functions
Periodically I need to change my Video Playback to my second monitor by going to View > Video Playback > Digital Cinema Desktop PREVIEW.
I once did it to "Preview - MAIN" in Motion and couldn't get it to come off unless I trashed my preferences. I'm rather concerned that in a sleepy moment my mouse will slip and I'll hit MAIN. Is there a way to map these functions (or any other menu combinations) to the Keyboard so I can just bring it up with a simple keystroke? Or is it simple called something particular in the Keyboard layout that I haven't figured out yet?
Thanks
JoelThe shortcut exists already. Command & F12 keys.

FCP Video Distorted While Importing & Playback Issues
While importing a Mini DV off of my Sony DVCAM deck there are some moments lately where the video playback and importing is distorted. There are four vertical lines that are pixelated with multi color over the video that is playing back. It happens on and off. This just happened and I play the video source from my camcorder everything looks fine. On top of that there are moments when I can control my deck through FCP but there is no video playing back in FCP. Am I missing something? This just popped up considering I have imported footage before with no problems. Anyone have a clue? Thankx
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.2)Try capturing a short segment using iMovie.
If it works, you most likely have a Quicktime issue.
Often in upgrading the OS, QT or FCP for some odd reason QT will get knocked slightly off kilter. The usual solution it to force a full reinstall of QT.
This is how:
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
Run the Quicktime installer.
Reboot
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
Good luck.
