32-bit and premiere

I just downloaded the production suite from my College's website and got it all installed.  Unfortunately I am running 32-bit Win7, because I still have a P4 computer, is there anyway i can get the 32-bit support pack that didn't come with the download from my school's site?

Premiere Pro CS5 itself does not include the 32-bit version... which is actually CS4
The only way to get the included 32bit CS4 is to buy one of the suites
Again... this is NOT CS5, it is 32bit CS4

Both are referencing cooltype.dll. I ran Font Doctor on all system and non-system fonts and found no errors. Booted without Extensis Suitcase loading. Nothing works. All 32 bit programs work fine. Any clues would be appreciated.

It does not necessarily mean a "corrupt" font, but can be a font that PrPro, and PS, cannot handle.
Though I have read that changes have been made, Open Office's DejaVu font would crash PrPro's Titler - every time. There are quite a few others. Font Dr, and similar utilities, will not see the font(s) as corrupt, but they are so poorly designed, that PrPro and PS cannot deal with them.
Though it can be a long, drawn out process, one can often zero in on the problem font(s), with a little work. This is accomplished by first defining the "System Fonts," and not touching them. Then, uninstall half of the remaining fonts, and testing PrPro and PS. If they launch fine, you know that somewhere in that list of fonts, the problem exists. If there is still a failure to launch, chances are good that the problem font(s) reside in that half, that are still installed. Note: because the problem still exists, does not guarantee that there are NOT problem fonts in that uninstalled group, so keep that in mind.
Repeat the proces, by uninstalling half of the remaining fonts and testing.
If necessary, repeat by removing half of the now remaining fonts and testing.
When you get to a point, where you are no longer getting problems, reinstall fonts, in small groups, testing in between. The smaller the groups, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem font(s).
Keep notes on which fonts you are uninstalling and reinstalling, until you narrow it down to the problem font(s).
I would start by uninstalling any "free fonts," and then commercial, 3rd party fonts. A lot of free fonts are just poorly designed, and can cause issues, though they might work fine in some other programs.
I use a font manager, so that I only have ~ 350 fonts installed at one time, and then dynamically install fonts, as needed for Projects. That keeps my machine clean, and if, upon installation, I get a crash/hang, I know that at least one font in that Set is causing it. This helps, as my workstation has ~ 19,000 fonts on it, and some are free fonts, and many are from 3rd parties. Some are also very, very old.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - one common cause for hangs on loading PrPro can be from VST's, used in Audio-editing. If you also have a lot of VST's, you could have two issues with two separate programs, i..e. PS hanging on fonts, and PrPro hanging on VST's. The results would be the same, but the causes could be different. That leads to even more work. For PrPro, also see this ARTICLE. If you get PS launching, but PrPro is still not functioning, drop by the PrPro Forum, and someone can help you there.

  • After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 not available for installation for 32-bit systems

After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 require a 64-bit operating system and processor to be installed and run.
If you subscribe to Creative Cloud but use a 32-bit computer system, you will not be able to download and install Premiere Pro CS6 or After Effects CS6.
This issue primarily affects users on the Windows operating system, since all supported versions of the Mac OSX operating system are able to run 64-bit applications.
    See this document for details:
"64-bit Windows required for After Effects and Premiere Pro CS6"
In general, you can only download and use applications for which your computer system meets the minimum system requirements.

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.

  • CC, CC 64 Bit, and CC 2014? WTF?

It's bad enough Adobe can't figure out how to make the same features in one program work the same in a different program. To top it off, instead of improving what are now "apps" and integrating we now have more new programs to do the same thing (e.g. not just one for website creation, not just one for photos, not just one for illustrations, not just one for animation, etc...) and to top it off again they get rid of important programs like Soundbooth, and stop upgrading ones we need like Encore. I am beginning to think the CC is for Creative Chaos not Creative Cloud....
So, I uninstalled my CS5 master suite finally and moved presumably up to CC. But, now do I not only have more than one program to do the same thing more now I also have 3 of each! Wow! That's STUPID. Sorry, I hate using that word, but what in the hell?
Why is it when I go to my programs I have a CC version, a CC 64 bit, and now new to the Creative Chaos we have CC 2014 versions!!!!          What? Really? Someone, please help me maintain my sanity. Before I realized it I was using Premiere CC then I inadvertantly started using CC 2014. Then I was like "something is missing, oh, wait, what? there's more than one version of premiere in CC???" Then I realized "oh, there's 3 of Illustrator, Photoshop, and inDesign?
I of course have a 64 bit system, so should I only use the 64 bit versions and just delete the shortcuts to the others? and when there isn't a 64bit version but instead just a CC and a CC2014 version, which do I use? I mean, I assume the CC 2014. But, in 2014 will something change, will I be like "damn it, I should have been using the CC not the CC2014"?
Adobe, please clean up all your software, boil it down to just the ones we need, we don't need more than one program to do THE SAME THING. and once you boil it down, don't give us three versions of it, ask "do you want the 64 bit version or the 32" and we'll be happy to download precisely what we need. Or better yet, figure out a way to make it work with one program. And, of course while you're at it combine the CC and CC XXXX version of each, WTF???

32bit programs are installed for those people who use plugins that have not been updated to 64bit
CC and CC2014 have different source code bases, so they are different programs

  • What do i do with a very slow Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on a PC?

I seem to be getting mixed opinions as to why my Adobe software gets so slow, despite efforts to avoid that, but my computer seems to be working just fine, it is only when in Adobe that the problems arise, like freezing, taking longer and longer periods of time to open the screen to edit a photo, or to compare two photos side by side.  Any process seems to take such a long time, and the freezing can last for several minutes, and then continue on.    I have had a computer person come to my house and examine my computer and though his knowledge of Photoshop is limited, he feels that it is NOT the computer but something with Adobe Photoshop.  I would tend to agree with him.
Several theories have been explained to me, such as Elements and Premiere Elements are a low end of the scale of Photoshop programs, so it is just not going to be able to process high definition large photos well and quickly.  Stating comments like i can only use 2 GB of my memory even though i have 8 GB, so unless i can use 64 bit this is what i have to deal with, and it is just a way for Photoshop to say you need to upgrade to the fancier programs.  I do not need fancier programs.  I am working hard to master these, and have accomplished 4 great blu rays in high definition thanks to recommendations from the Forum here, especially Steve with the help of his books.
Others say i need a solid state hard drive to solve the problem.  Others say the only way i will ever solve the problem is to switch to a MAC.  Others state is a mal-ware problem, but i have never had my hard drive so clean and uncluttered.  I supposedly have as good of PC as i could have as far as QUAD-core, 8GB memory, presently a 1 TB hard drive less than 1/2 full.   All suggestions involve big outlays of money, with no guarantee that things will be any better.  I have tried to contact different computer companies and computer 'nerds', and these are some of the suggestions, but no one really has a lot of knowledge of the Photoshop software.
I am thinking of adding an additional internal hard drive, but not sure that is going to help either.  Could i put all my Photoshop of the second hard drive, and might that speed things up?
Adobe is rather worthless in trying to get help from them.  I have spent hours on the phone waiting and then talking to someone who says they understand English but they do NOT understand the question i am asking, which becomes very frustrating with repeat phone calls.  I gave up yesterday trying to do that challenging experience yesterday after i had spent 3 times the amount of time they said i would need to wait to get a reply, and i was at work, and my free time had come to an end.  So i am hoping you guys can give me some clues of the best thing to do.
Is it true that Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are just such a lower end program that trying to do things in high definition, with 2000x1500 photos, making them into a blu ray disc is a major challenge with a PC?  I wish i had a greater computer knowledge, but i have struggled to achieve my goal, but the speed of it all gets very frustrating, though it is possible.
Another question asked which i don't think exists, is whether there is a program that could clean up Photoshop, or are there some clues that could accomplish that and thereby speed things up.
Would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.  I am in the middle of another project so now is probably not the best time to consider any major changes.  But any comments would be appreciated.
    Ron

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

  • After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 Long Startup and Application Hang

    Problem:
After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS6 are very slow to start all of a sudden.  Around 5 minutes to get to/by the intro dialogue box.  For AE, the majority of the time is spent on the "initializing user interface." Then, if I can make a comp, and even a layer inside that comp, it will "Hang" if I attempt to open AE's General preferences for example (no preferences window ever comes up).  This "hang" is what the Event Viewer in windows calls it, with the faulting module being afterfx.exe.  Premiere is not much different.   It makes it to the new project window fast, but after setting project parameters and creating the first sequence, I can't get into the preferences either and the application hangs.  It is important to note that if I have another application open, like Chrome or Firefox for example at the time the application hangs, they will freeze as well.  As soon as I kill the Afterfx.exe process, they come back to life.
I have read nearly all threads on the subject, and am struggling to find a solution:
Deleted preferences folder under my username's appdata.
Turned off Firewall (network traffic from dynamiclink, qtserver, etc was allowed, but what the hay)
ran windows system file checker/malwarebytes/rkill/rootkit detection.
checked for windows compatibility checkboxes under the file.
    Uninstalled Wacom Tablet drivers
    Disabled Aero
Started with ctrl-alt-shift to delete pref.
uninstalled video driver and replaced with one 6 months ago.
uninstalled, reinstalled, and tested various quicktime versions back to version 7.69
    moved plugins folder
moved opengl's plugin out of the folder temporarily
Disabled all 3rd party codecs (xvid was the only one installed and for months)
    reinitialized default directshow filters
checked for adobe font list (none found) and removed any fonts from 1 month ago to present.
used msconfig to selective startup without other applications/services running.
Uninstalled all adobe products, and reinstalled.
I performed all of these in a systematic manner, trying to solve the problem.  None have fixed the problem.
So it doesn't seem to be a network issue, a codec issue, a plugin issue, a driver issue, font issue, or conflicting application.  Any thoughts?

  • Mac OS 10.7 and Premiere Pro CS5 not reading AVI and DV files, not rendering to Media Encoder

    Hi Folks,
I've been wrestling with these problems since I bought my Macbook Pro running Lion (currently v10.7.3). I've had video editing and DVD authoring workflows that have worked perfectly for both CS3 and CS4 with Premiere Pro and Encore. I used to be able to import DV and AVI files and render timelines to Adobe Media Encoder so I can make DVD projects in Encore but it seems there are a lot of broken bits and pieces either with 10.7 or with CS5 or both. I've tired creating new projects or re-editing CS4 Premiere Pro projects that I can still edit with CS4 on my old Macbook Pro with 10.6.8. In fact I've given up on CS5 and I've gone back to my old laptop to edit. My problems with CS5/5.5 are:
1     Can't import DV files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
2     Can't import AVI files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
3     When I export media and try to use Adobe Media Encoder (AME) the render queue doesn't respond to the files being sent from Premiere Pro (PPro). I have to render the files one at a time from within PPro. I have no idea where the queued files go but even if I have AME open it doesn't respond. In CS4 AME would open automatically and wait until I told it to render the files.
4     In Encore I've had trouble burning to DVD. I have to make an ISO file and then burn that using Toast. I'n not particularly fussed about this but while I'm unloading I may as well give you the full picture.
Basically I'm really hating this vcersion of CS5/Mac OS. Lion is like using Vista from what I can tell. On my PCs I went from XP to Windows 7 so I kinda avoided all that pain it it seems the computer gods are smiting good and proper now. I don't care whose fault it is I want Apple and Adobe to fix it or if some kind soul can share their experiences and hopefully how they fixed it I'd be eternally grateful until the next upgrade totally blindsides us all.
Thank you in anticipation --> Mal/Melboure/AU

    Sorry for your troubles.
Pr 5.5.2 is still a bit persnickety for me on 10.6.8, but overall, it's still faster than FCP7 and MC6, and overall pretty dependable.  Imports and plays AVI files just fine.
Lion still isn't ready for prime time, from what I've seen.  Like all Mac OS releases, it probably won't be until 10.7.6 or so.  And that may never happen, becuase 10.8 is purported to be just around the corner.
So, my advice is, if possible, go back to what works, 10.6.8.

  • Is there any "simple" documentation on the steps to download and install Photoshop and Premiere Elements V13?  The downloads seems to work but there's nothing clear on what do you do next.

I've been messing with computers since 1958 and I've never seen such a mess as trying to download and install the recently purchased copies of Photoshop and Premiere Elements Version 13.  Slow downloads?  Sure, but I can live with that.  But once downloaded, what next?  Look for a xxx.exe file somewhere in the pile?  Read the "ReadMe" file?  All I seem to get is unzipping some files with nothing leading me into the proper steps.  I can't even seem to get off the ground.  Everything I touch unzips and just lies there.  I hate to think I've gone dumb after all of these years, but "user friendly" this is not.  My "Your order confirmation" sheet gives me "Follow the instructions below to start using it today" and the first three steps work as you'd expect.  Step 4 states "After you have completed the download process, your serial number will be displayed in the download center."  Step 5 is "You can log back into 'Adobe Account Management' in the future to re-download your product or retrieve your serial number. ...."  I have no problem with my serial number but there seems to be a lot missing between Steps 4 and 5.  It would be nice to have this information as pretty standard "stuff.  Computers are supposed to do super stuff without a lot of time-consuming problems with a simple process like installing the software.  I'm feeling a bit hostile about this but it is a time-consuming, frustrating process.

  • Windows 8 and Premiere 11???  Please help

    Hi
I'm on windows 8 (64 bit) and PE11.  Today I lost all my work although I had saved regularly and I have to re-render very often.  Tonight as I'm trying to re-do my day's work, I'm losing sync and entire clips keep disapearing.  It seems to be becoming increasingly unstable.  I really don't know if I'm doing something wrong or, possibly, Windows 8 and Premire Elements 11 aren't the best fit.  I've noticed a few other post mentioning Window 8 problems although they seem to differ from mine.
The head of IT at my company wants to remove windows 8 and install windows 7 on my computer (mainly becasue of a VPN issue) but I am afraid I will lose all my work.
Can anyone suggest a way, or a number to call, to tell me how I can save my work, rid myself of windows 8 and then re-import my work into a windows 7 enviornment?  I fear 2 weeks of my work is going up in smoke.
PS I posted earlier, I am also having increasing frequent crashes.
    Please Help
    Thank you

    Hi Nealeh,
I think it is more than 'gut' feeling about Windows 8.  I had the same experience sometimes things worked, other times they didn't. Colleagues & I have problems with other programs after the Window 8 upgraded.  Infact, my VPN would not work at all with Windows 8 but works fine on W7 (luckily so I can work from home on this snowy day)
However,  since my last post I've had a new weird problems, although all the annimation footage that I generated in Photoshop/Premiere import just fine, I have to re-import them every day.  However the .MOV which worked perfectly on the Windows 8 platform now have the 'importer reported a generic error' in Windows 7.  According to the forums it may be a codec problem so I'm going to try re-importing them into the computer or try this codec solution I read about (although it seems very confusing)
I didn't want to convert to Windows 7 mid project, but with all the major crashes I had no choice.  If you are mid project, maybe you can publish the project as is to use with the new platform.  I wish I had been able to do that, exspecially with the animations as they took a long time to build, and it looks like I'm going to have to start from scratch.
Good luck with getting off Windows 8.

Good Morning.  I'm having a problem using both my Photoshop elements and premiere programs.  I've installed the programs, redeemed my code and entered the serial numbers, and created the adobe log-in.  I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions.  When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open.  Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open.  Any advice?

Is photoshop elements 10 and premiere elements 10 compatible with windows 8.1?  I am upgrading from XP and am trying to determine if I should go to 8.1 or windows 7?

Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 are compatible with Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit. I have them installed on those operating systems and no problems. My video card is Intel HD Graphics.
But, a major question is what video card will be used? There is a major issue with Premiere Elements 10 users whose computers use a NVIDIA GeForce video card. It is fixed by rolling back the driver to about May 2013. This is a user to user fix. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has offered one. • CinemaDNG operation in AE and Premiere CS 5.5?

I worked my way through using CinemaDNG in AE and Premiere. But, there are differences that are me causing confusion:
    1) In AE, I use FILE > IMPORT FILE... and select the first DNG file in a folder. The CinemaDNG panel auto-opens. After making adjustments and clicking OK, I can double-click the FOLDER name and the first frame appears in the video window. I can play the file.
    2) When I need to alter my adjustment,  I must use the FILE > REPLACE FOOTAGE > FILE (and select the first DNG file in a folder) command. Is there a simpler way like Premiere's CLIP > SOURCE SETTINGS command?
    3) When I REPLACE FOOTAGE, it has the modified images. NOT, the original footage! Which rasies two questions: Where are the adjustments one makes SAVED?  (Is it stored in each image file? In AE?)  Is there a REVERT command? (After making new adjustments, the video window shows them.)
    4) The DNG frame-size is 2048x1092. Because of garbage on the clips's edges -- I want to CROP -- not SCALE) to 1920x1080. I have set the Render Settings to 1920x1080. I'm not useing Region or any kind of Crop filter. Am I correct that AE CROPS the incoming image to 1920x1080?
In Premiere, CinemaDNG works very differently:
    1) FILE > IMPORT... and select the folder to import. After importing, I select the first clip and issue the CLIP > SOURCE SETTINGS command. Amazingly, if I made settings in AE, they appear in the newly loaded clip! This seems wrong -- the original clips should NEVER be modified.
    2) Which raises the question, how to fully revert to the original images?
    3) I notice Premiere places an XML file into folder --- while AE does not. What's the XML file for?
    4) I notice changes made in Premiere show-up in AE -- even if I delete the XML files. Which seems to indicate the adjustments must be made to the DNG files themselves. Which seems to make REVERT impossible. Correct?
    5) Premier, unlike AE, seems to have have a problem with frame-rate. In Premiere each frame is set at 1 fps -- which is wrong. After dragging the folder into a Sequence, I've tried selecting all clips and then useing CLIP > MODIFY > INTERPRET FOOTAGE... and set the rate to 999fps which forces the clips 'duration to 0:00:00:01 which is correct. But, now clips will not play. Nor, can they play if dragged into a Sequence. What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you

Ken, I've done some additional experiments.
    1) If you make adjustments to a DNG import into AE, when you click OK the first DNG file is modified. However, none of the other DNGs are modified. So it seems adjustments are written into the first DNG.
    2) Each time you RELOAD FILE you have the opportunity to make adjustments to the last saved adjustments. Each time you adjust, the first DNG is modified.
    3) The question is -- do adjustments overlay the camera written settings? If yes, then REVERT is not possible.
    4) After closing AE, I opened Premiere and imported the same DNG folder. Unlike AE, the DNG control panel does not automatically open. If one double-clicks the first DNG, what you see seems to be the initial camera settings. Which tells me they are not over-written.
    5) After selecting the first DNG, if I now issue the CLIP > SOURCE SETTINGS command -- the last adjustments made settings in AE, appear in the DNG panel.
    7) Seems there are two locations for data in a DNG: a location for the camera data and one for user made adjustments. But, there is no software way of doing a revert. Since the first DNG seems to be where adjustments are stored, it turns out that if you save the first DNG before importing into AE you can REVERT by replacing the first DNG with the original. At this point I'm exporting a ProRes 444 12-bit RGB file so all I need is for AE to work.
    8) If you do make an adjustment in Premiere, the first DNG is not modified. Rather, an XML file MAY be written.
    9) Even after making adjustments in the panel and clicking OK -- the changes MAY NOT show-up in the Viewer! If you quit Premiere and restart, the changes you made previously MAY show-up in the Viewer after double-clicking. However, only in the FIRST DNG. None of this makes sense to me. And, sometimes you may not need to quit and restart.
    10) If one wants to use Premiere, drag ONLY the FIRST DNG into a timeline.
    11) Select the clip and use the CLIP > CLIP SPEED/DURATION... and drag the duration to the correct length. For example, if there are 60 frames and the frame-rate you want is 30fps, the desired duration is 02:00. Render to see the clip play at the correct speed. All in all, a very poor process. Hopefully, for others who want to use Premiere, I've made an error.

  • Unable to open Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements

Yesterday I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and 11 and Premiere Elements 11 on my Computer (Windows 7, 64-bit) and first everything was alright.
But after a few hours I was not able to open one of them again. All I get is an error message to re-install the program again because of configuration error,  "error:1".
I had that problem before and i tried about three times to re-install them correctly. Last time I used the compability mode to install and that was the only time they opened at least once.
    Any ideas?

Adobe hasn't said whether it officially supports PSE 7 on Windows 7.  But reports are starting to trickle in that PSE 7 works fine on Windows 7 for most people, though a couple people have reported crashes. My PSE 7 seems to work fine, though I primarily use PSE 8 now.  This is all very preliminary, and we'll learn more as more people post here.
