32 bit on x230?

Has anyone been able to completely install Win 7 32 on the X230? I can get it running, but it's missing about 6 crucial drivers, and I haven't found them on the Lenovo site. For starters, no internet because missing the adapter and related drivers.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you already installed the ThinkVantage System Update to download and install the appropriate drivers?

  • Device Driver Update...General Install error

I have the Pantech UML290.  I have intalled and uninstalled SEVERAL times the software. When I run the .exe it tells me its installing the driver; however, it stops and I get a message of GENERAL INSTALL ERROR.  Once I hit ok, it will finish installing VZ Access.  I cannot use my device.  I have tried inserting it into all 3 ports on my laptop and no luck.
I am installing 7.9.1.0 (2807b) for Windows 7 32/64 bit.  When I connect my device it tells me that it cannot locate my driver.  I even go to device manager, click on the yellow icon and select to update driver however the driver can never be found.

Very frustrated.  I work in IT and I have NEVER had problems installing anything until NOW.  I have searched the internet for hours to see if the driver exists somewhere and I find nothing except links back to the link I have already used.

Sidenote--Itunes compatibility is my curent version of OS.  I have an IPAD 3 that wont sync because of old verison of itunes

  • X230 Custom WIN 7 ENT 64 bit

    Hi,
I would like to know if I am missing something. I setup a x230 with a custom (load from scratch) Win 7 ENT 64bit setup. I have loaded all my required programs etc etc. The setup is running like I need it to - I run sysprep and capture the image on our WDS, though when I take a new laptop and load the image during system setup it does a BSOD loop. I am picking some driver error or something but have even tried loading a "bare bones" setup and still getting BSOD. I have changed the BIOS setup for the drive to "Compatibility" but still fails. Can someone please shed some light as I am processing too many laptops to load each and every one from scratch. And besides what's the point of having a WDS if the image process is not working?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have tried both ways, manually installing the driver and then using System update. Nor drive corruption as I have 5 machines that I am testing our imaging process with and they are all doing it.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 64-bit crashes on Windows 8

I recently installed the trial version of the new Photoshop CC 2014, in addition to Audition. Audition works just fine, but when I tried to run Photoshop, it crashes immediately with the typical "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" error. I've tried every solution I've found in the forums, including updating my graphics drivers, system drivers, Windows updates, renaming SLCache folders, and a few others. Absolutely nothing is working. Here is my system info and the error as recorded in Event Logs.

These identify your Intel display driver as the problem.  Chances are their implementation of one or more OpenGL API calls has a bug.
Check Intel.com to see if Intel has released an updated display driver for your hardware and OS.  It may well be that they've already released a driver that fixes the bugs.
Failing to get a resolution from that, you may be able to change the OpenGL drawing mode Photoshop uses.  Go into your Photoshop Edit - Preferences - Performance panel, click the [Advanced Settings], and try lowering the Drawing Mode.  You'll have to close and reopen Photoshop after any changes there before testing.
    Good luck!

Sorry for these issues, the updates team is still working on getting all the updates published for the new systems like X230...
Bluetooth should be there starting from today.
I recommend not installing RapidBoot Shield unless you have personally tested it and determined that it makes your image boot faster and doesn't cause side-effects.
Intel USB 3.0 has a wrong dependency on RapidBoot Shield, the team is working on removing the dependency.  If you are using ThinInstaller you may be able to figure out how to remove the dependency from the XML file yourself...

  • X230 Screen Replacemen: Check for warranty.

So I bought my x230 off of ebay, and apparently it has a 3 year limited warranty... but I do not know whether it has a warranty for the screen?
My laptop tumbled a foot off the ground (it slid from the edge of the bathtub, where I placed it while I washed my hands", partly open, and tumbled onto a bathroom scale, which was only a foot below...
I was seriously annoyed, because I bought this laptop under the premise that thinkpads were indestructable, and yet a little bump and tumble cracked the screen. Fall from the table? I could understand. Slide on to the floor from a foot high ledge and crack? that sort of breaks my conception of its legendary sturdiness. Huh...
Anyways, I'm on ubuntu, and I want to know if:
A: My limited warranty can do anything for me in regards to this,
    and
B: Whether or not I have a screen warranty for little drops. How do I check this?

Also a word of warning to lenovo designers: In the developer community, you are losing popularity because of the choices you have been making in regards to design recently. For my part, I want a utilitarian laptop, with my blue enter keys, lots of keyboard functional buttons, clean black plain design, durability and battery life at the cost fatness, and not a carbon copy of generic acer toshiba cheapo plasticy junk.
    Just my two cents.

  • X230 with windows 7 still won't connect to any bluetooth devices after many attempted solutions

    My starting point:
I have 6 month old x230 with windows 7, all windows and lenovo updates already completed.  The bluetooth logo exists on the bottom of screen but when I try to "add device" it doesn't recognize any bluetooth devices.  I've tried this with speakers from 3 different companies.  I have updated the bluetooth drivers, the windows and lenovo programs say "device is working properly".  Nothing wierd in device manager.  I have  microsoft bluetooth enumerator and thinkpad bluetooth 4.0.  One time for about 30 minutes it worked on a ECOXGEAR bluetooth speaker but then also stopped.
    Since then:
I enabled settings in BT control panel, BT is enabled in BIOS, BT wireless on, have tried to rollback driver to previous versions of BT but not possible, devices still do not show up in Add new device window.
    Latest update:
I have uninstalled the lenovo bluetooth software following a suggestion and now my laptop no longer has bluetooth capacity at all - it seems when uninstallig the lenovo bluetooth sw the microsoft sw uninstalls as well.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Seems BT audio profiles your speakers need are absent in the sw installed on the laptop. Try BlueSoleli or Toshiba BT drivers, both of them might have needed audio profiles. Toshiba stack seems a bit better quality but needs some tweaks for installation.

  • Windows 7 64 bit wireless latency

I have been struggling with an odd issue effecting openvpn on Windows 7 64-bit wireless.  Performance is very sluggish and my ping latency is very high across the openvpn connection when compared to WinXP wireless and Win7 wired connections.
This appears to be an issue with the Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN wireless card.  No firmware updates are available from Lenovo or Intel for the card.
Average ping latency is 30ms across vpn from WinXP in both wireless and wired as well as Win7 wired.  But goes to 130ms+ from Win7 wireless connection!  This translates to a remote session that is like working through molasses.  Stepping through code in Visual Studio on a remote machine from the Windows 7 machine when on a wireless connection has so much lag time it becomes unusable.  Making the remote connection on a wired ethernet or WinXP wireless N is as responsive as sitting in front of the remote machine.
Appears that my MTU is optimal for my internet connection.  I tested and found that 1480 is the minimum size packet where I can ping and return a "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set." response.  So I am leaving my MTU at 1500 on both wired and wireless on Win7 machine.
So far I have (I believe) ruled out the following:
Firewalls - both windows and at router - have turned off both with no effect
Antivirus - no change with it deactivated
Router settings - put laptop in DMZ and no change
MTU - tested 1500 as optimal
Thinkpad drivers and BIOS - all latest
Has anyone else run into issues with this Intel 1000 wireless  card?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I had a real problem with wireless performance on multiple ThinkPads with Win7 until I realized there is a new (or maybe changed implementation) power setting in Win7 which was affecting it.
If you go into Control Panel -> Power Options and click "Change plan settings" for your current power plan.
On the next screen click on "Change advanced power settings"
On the next screen expand "Wireless Adapter Settings" and then "Power Saving Mode"
Make sure it is set to Maximum Performance.
Not sure if this will help your particular problem but hope it does.

  • ImageFORMULA P-215 Scan-tini Software Issues with Windows 8.1 32-Bit Laptop

    Hi,,
I have a ImageFORMULA P-215 Scan-tini scanner which worked without any problems with my Lenovo X230 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit.  However, I have been unable to get the CaptureOn Touch software to work on my Asus Transformer TA100T notebook running Windows 8.1 32-bit. The software and driver installation completed without any errors (without the scanner connected). But when I connect the scanner into the USB port and run the Capture On Touch software, it always comes up with a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library error - Program C:\Program Files\Canon Electronics\P215\TouchDR.exe abnormal program termination.
I tried every possible troubleshooting approaches I could Google online including (1) doing running sfc /scannow (which found no integrity or corruption issues with my Win 8.1 system, (2) did a clean reboot disabling everything except the CaptureOn Touch software and it still comes up with the same error, (3) installing Visual C++ runtime library distributables for 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 but still the error pops up. So basically, now I can't use this great little portable scanner with my great little transformer tablet/notebook.
I am wondering whether anyone else have come across a similar problem of getting this scanner to work on a 32-bit Win 8.1 system? Would greatly appreciate any advise.

    Hi:
I would try the Vista audio driver from your notebook's support and driver page.
the dv6000 model series is not supported by HP for W7 let alone W8 or 8.1.

  • X230 Battery drains quickly

I have a 10 month old X230 with a 6 cell 44+ battery. I am finding that it seems to drain quite quickly - more so than when it was new. I am getting about 2.5 hours of use - and am also noticing that when in sleep mode, it seems to drain quite a bit. Overnight last night it went from a full charge - to 91% just while on sleep - nothing was used or running.
I am running Win 7 Home Premium, have a USB (not Bluetooth) mouse attached that I turn off before sleep, screen brightness on around 8.
Any suggestions on what to check or change woud be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    LH

Yes - in the cmd window with administratior rights. Nothing in that powercfg -devicequery wake_armed - it just goes tot he next command prompt.
Using the powercfg -energy string, I did get a long list, but it looks like these below may be the most useful - display not turing off - though it does when it sleeps, and the USB - though it isn't suspend, it is sleep that seems to be the issue. is this at all helpful? There were a lot of other warnings about something called Platform Timer Resolution and informational strings - and there were other things running when I did that test this time.
My power settings are - Balanced, on battery - dim after 2 minutes, turn off display after 5 minutes, sleep after 20 minutes. Generally I put it to sleep when I am not using it with the FnF4 combo  - I usually don't let it just sleep in its own - maybe that is an issue, too?
Let me know if that tells you anything, or if I should try it again.
Thanks for working with me to try to figure this out - it is definitely related to the sleep issue - when it is just on battery and not sleeping, the battery lasts much longer.

Hi, I'm using an external monitor NEX MultiSync EA244WMi connected via Displayport to my X230 (Windows 7 Pro 64bit). I happen to use different graphics settings for various purposes - from extended desktop at full resultion to external only at 1024x768 in some games. Every few times, when I swich my graphics mode on the external monitor - typically from lower resolution to the full resolution - the displayport stops working. Meaning- as long as the cable is connected, computer thinks there is a display and is trying to use it... however monitor is showing "no signal" and going into sleep mode. - disconnecting the display port cable is switching to laptop only mode - this works fine- reconnecting the display port cable is switching Windows to use it again, it's waking up the monitor for a while but nothing is presented and it's again showing no-signal and going to sleep So far the only way around I found was to put the computer into the sleep mode (or reboot), than after it's started again all works fine for a while - hence it looks like a software/firmware problem on my X230... any ideas appreciated... BR. Alek

    Hi Alan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
Can you check uninstalling the current graphic driver from Control panel -- Program & feature option, and download the latest version from the below link.
Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit), Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting X230 to Philips Miracast enabled Smart TV

I have a new X230 which came with Intel WiDi installed.  I am trying to connect it to a Philips Smart TV which the folks at Philips tell me should work with WiDi.  The TV is Miracast enabled.
When I run the Intel WiDi software, the Philips TV appears as an available device.
When I click to connect, the software asks for a PIN number and at the same time a PIN number appears on the TV screen.  I enter this in the box provided by the software.
There is a pause of 15 - 45 seconds, and then there is a message on the TV : "Step 2/2.  Connected.  Starting playback."
This is quickly replaced by a message on the TV "Failed to playback".
The WiDi software remains at the "Connecting..." screen.
I feel I am pretty close to getting this to work, but not sure what to do to actually succeed.
I have already updated the WiDi software and drivers to the latest available on the Lenovo site:
    Intel WiDi - 4.2.19.0
Intel HD Graphics driver - 9.18.10.3359
    Intel PROSet/Wireless software 16.1.3
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very welcome.

Following my last post, I went out and bought a Netgear Push2TV which provides Miracast connection to a TV via a small external unit box.  With this I was able to establish a WiDi connection from my X230, albeit after a little messing about.  When the connection was first made, the TV screen remained blank.  I had to right click on the desktop and select Graphics Options > Output To > Clone Displays > Built in display and WiDi.  The display then appeared on the TV.
Since then, Phillips have released a firmware upgrade for the Phillips 32PFL4258M/08 TV I have, and the X230 WiDi now works directly with the TV's Miracast facility.  My Kindle Fire HDX also now works with the TV's Miracast, albeit the reproduction is not great.
The resolution with the Phillips TV's Miracast is, for reasons only known to Phillips, limited to 720p albeit the TV itself is full HD.  The 720p is notably less sharp than the Netgear Push2TV's 1020p, so I shall continue to use the Netgear Push2TV, which works extremely well.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • (X230) Connected to Wifi with excellent signal but unable to load internet pages:

    Hey everyone,
Hoping for the community to help me figure out a problem of mine.
Trying to connect my X230 to internet through a new router (Asus - security type WPA-Personal) and although the laptop connects without a problem (98% signal strength), internet pages are not loading. The diagnosis tool isn't finding anything and I could add that other laptops do not have the same problem when connecting to this router.
My tech level is rather low so I don't know what more I could add to help you guys get a clear view of the situation/problem so if more info is needed, let me know. I won't be far.
    Thanks a lot,
    Patrick

    Thanks for your help jdhurst,
    To answer your questions:
    1. The machine connects fine on other routers. For example Starbucks (Unsecured), friends house (Linksys on WPA2-Personal), two different schools (WPA-Enterprise and WPA2-Enterprise).
Maybe it's a coincidence but its the first time the machine tries to connect to a WPA-Personal...
    2. Several other computers connect well to this router. Which leads me to believe that the problem is with the X230.
    3. How do I do this if I can't access internet with the said machine? (sorry, a bit of a noob).
    Extra notes:
    A) When I open up the Wireless Network Connction Status, it says ''No Internet Access'' next to IPv6 Connectivity.
    B) Although this router is set on WPA-Personnal, the Lenovo Access Connections manager seems to think that specific router is in fact a WPA2-PSK
Hopefully this will generate more thoughts on the subject.

  • Thinkpad X230 Battery issues

It's been about 5 months since I started to use my Thinkpad  X230.  Only three days ago it could work for 5-6 hours without charging.  I could charge it at home, bring it to school and use it without charging.  But suddenly the battery started to die in a short amount of time.  Then I explored the battery settings a little bit.  I found out it says "Battery Condition: poor" and "Your battery can 47% of its original full charge capacity."
It has warranty until 2015. So can Lenovo send me a new battery if I want so? Or is it a problem that warranty doesn't cover? Please help!!

If you are running WIndows 7 on your X230, go into Power Manager and find the Battery Maintenance function.  Then run a Reset cycle on the battery and see how it comes up.
The microprocessor in the battery can get out of sync with the battery capacity the X230 think should be available and that can cretae the sort of issue you have described.  Resetting the battery will resync the on board micrprocessor in eth battery with the expected battery capacity in Power Manager.

  • X230 SSD Firmware Update help

    Hello,
We are currently having some issues with waking up a X230-2324CTO from a sleep. When awoken from sleep it is unable to open any programs. Programs for example an icon on the taskbar will glow up like if you would normally open a program but then will return to a normal icon like suggesting it was never pressed and no program will open.
Our hope is that the solution is a SSD Firmware update. The have the system updated with every update available for the X230-2324CTO using System Update but this one remains.
Tho we can't figure out how to do this SSD Firmware Update. We don't have a CD drive in this model and when using an USB external disk drive (Samsung) we are unable to boot to the CD.
The question now is can someone provide us with a very clear step by step manual in how to create such a CD the documentation with the update FWSS31 is very poor to say the least. What do we need to create such a CD and how do we need to do it.
    Thanks for the support

We are using a Lenovo preload of Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. We currently have 5 Lenovo X230 2324CTO laptops and all of these laptops have the same problems.
One of these problems is that when coming into the office and they put there laptop into the Lenovo dockingstations and power up the laptop that when logged in the OS no program is able to load. There sometimes is a delay in this problem that for example they are able to open Outlook or a website but then no program is able to load. As I described earlier the animation for opening a program will occur on the bar but it will quickly just fade away. Also shutting the laptop off is not possible. It is possible to open the charm bar in Windows 8 and go to the shutdown option but on clicking the computer does nothing.
Another problem is that the user is stuck on the login screen of Windows 8 simply saying Welcome with a loading circle which never stops.
Only a forced shutdown (holding the power button for aprox 10 seconds) and restarting the laptop will make the laptop work again when either of these problems occur. These problems occur on random days. As I'm in the IT Team I know when a problem occurs and it can vary to a few days, every day or a few weeks even before it starts to show up again.
I also checked the users and there behaviour in using the laptop but I cannot find any strange behaviour at all. As i also stated before we are running on every update that Lenovo System Update 5 can trow at us. I also installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology the newest version in hopes of fixing some of the problems.
    Thanks for the support.
