32-bit plugins in Logic Pro X (for Free)

There's still a few essential plugins many of use which haven't become 64-bit just yet... (e.g. Sylenth).
There are a few ways to run them in a au/vst host and get that into Logic... namely: VEPro and Plogue Bidule. Both of these solutions hit the wallet, so I've found a way to use FREE tools to do much the same thing using Apple's AU Lab and Soundflower.
I've written up a tutorial here:

Hope it helps,

Hi, Q
Go to the Macprovideo site.
When you get the home page loaded, scroll down until you see a section called MPV Hub on the left side of the page. [At present it's under a series of banners for the Logic X Tutorials]
On the right hand side is a heading 1697 Articles with a blue link under saying See All.
Click the link and scroll the first MPV Hub page You'll see the article just after a review of Arturia's Spark LE
Hope this helps,

  • TS4088 why is there a limit on 3 years? it should be all the MacBook Pro mid 2010 with symptoms, there should get their logic board changed for free, mine mac is 3 month late and i had this problem for over a year, but i first saw this article today :(

    Hey Clintonfrombirmingham
I called Apple technical support in Denmark, but with no positive reply.
She couldn't do anything, and said that They had sent a recall Email about the problem and with their offer to repair the Macbook Pro, but I'd never recieved an Email about the problem. She wasn't in power to make an exception. It can't be true that i paid a lot of money, for a product that can't barely stand on its own feets, Apple didn't tell me that the product I was about to buy, would restart every 5 minute. and now when  they know the problem, they wont repair it? it just don't make sense for me. If a car seller discovers that all the brakes in a car he had sold, will crash after some years he will call all the cars back to repair no mater what. i just don't understand how Apple will make good service for their custumers, by extending the warranty from 2 to 3 years, but wont take the computers there is a little bit to old, 4 months will make the difference. i can't believe it.
    What can i do now?
    best regards Oskar

  • MULTI OUTS for 3rd party plugins in Logic Pro (8)

    Hi All,
I am using Logic Pro 8 on a dual g5 Mac and am trying to use a multi-channel and multi-timbral software instrument Spectrasonics Stylus RMX 1.5. This worked fine in Logic 7 but now I only have output A (a stereo output) and cannot assign to Aux channels in the enviroment window. Has any one come across the same problem ?

    Update to RMX 1.6
    It's for Logic 8 specifically.

  • HT3989 Open 32-bit AU at logic pro 10

I updated from snow leopard to mountain lion and from logic pro 9 to 10. I can't change it to 32-bit even if I follow the instructions above. what can I do?

LPX is 64-bit exclusively and so is the OS ML! Therefore you're out of luck if you plan to use 32-bit plugins. There are possibilities to bypass this rule with assistance of third party apps. At the moment I'm testing Plogue Bidule
    http://youtu.be/7KAifzef5uk
I'm still testing all possibilities, but it looks promising.
Another app which seems to be capable of offering a platform for this purpose is Vienna Symphonic Library. I did not have the chance to test so I will not comment.
    Hope that helps.
    Have a nice day!

  • Plugins in logic pro

GPO and JABB do not show up in Logic Pro. I've just upgraded from Logic Express ro Logic Pro. Plugins don't appear in Express either. I used the default install for all plugins and for Logic.

    Could be several things:
Are the plug-ins in Audio Unit format? They would have to be to work with Logic. Other formats like VST, RTAS, etc won't work.
Are the plug-ins 32-bit or 64-bit? If you are running Logic in 64-bit mode, it will not scan new 32-bit plug-ins on launch. To get it to scan them, get info on the Logic application, select the "Open in 32-bit" checkbox, and launch Logic. It will scan for new 32-bit Audio Units. Once that's done, you can quit, and uncheck the 32-bit mode check box. The 32-bit Audio Units will be available in the Audio Units (32-bit) sub menu when you click an insert slot on a channel strip.

  • HT3989 how do you activate 64 bit mode in logic pro 9 if you purchased it directly from the apps store?

    hey team
the instructions for the regular activation of 64 bit mode don't seem to work as there is no logic folder in the applicetions, only the icon to launch the program.
    thanks

    Hi
Select the Logic Pro application within the Applications folder, and use Command I (or File:Get Info).
Un-chcek the 'Open in 32 bit mode' button

  • IS LOGIC PRO RIGHT FOR ME?

I would like to start creating my own house music. Is logic pro x the right fit for me ?
Can I use the software without having to buy add ons?
If it is the right fit, which tutorial would you recommend for a total amateur with a lot of heart?

Why not check online and see what your favorite producers are using. Find music you like, in the genre you prefer and and see what's being used.

  • Using a drawing tablet with Logic Pro, esp. for hyperdraw?

Is anybody using a drawing tablet, such as the Wacom Graphire 4, with Logic Pro? I am particularly interested to hear whether a tablet makes inputting hyperdraw data easier.
    Thanx and cheers,
    Vincent

Yeah, it changes everything — from selecting menu items, to turning knobs or moving sliders. You'll never go back... This is due to the fact that pointing and clicking are merged into one gesture, like playing a piano key takes care of selecting both the pitch and the velocity.
Be sure you get a small model though, not the big one that they use with Photoshop...
I find it indispensable whatever the kind of application I'm using, be it a text processor or an audio editor, whenever precise selection or action is required — to the point that I feel awkward when I'm forced to use a mouse.
By the way, people who are used to using trackballs feel the same — but this isn't true for track-pads.

  • How to configure logic Pro X for Xenyx Q1202 USB

Hello. We need to know how to configure our Logic Pro X to accept our Xenyx Q1202 USB. At the moment we cannot record on Logic Pro from a mic plugged into the Xenyx or record any instruments. The sound comes from the mic into the Xenyx and then out of the Xenyx into the headphones but it won't go into Logic Pro X.
We are using a brand new imac, (OSX Yosemite version 10.10) Logic Pro X and Xenyx. The Xenyx seems to be working OK. The microphone and cables work perfectly because we can hear sound from the mic going into the the Xenyx and out through the headphones. The Xenyx Q1202 USB is a Mixer with preamp compressor and USB/Audio interface.
Logic Pro X knows that the Xenyx is connected to the iMac because it has registered that fact. But it's not picking up any sound at all from the Xenyx. We've have tried it on Garage Band and have the same problem.
We have a feeling it might have something to do with the configuration.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks so much.

Ok.. Lets take this a small small steps at a time..
    In Logic's preferences/Audio....
What do you have set as the Input and Output?
The input should be your Xenyx
The Output should be whatever you are going to use to listen to the sound output from your Mac...  If you have speakers or headphones connected to the headphone output of your Mac then select that. If you want to listen to sound via the headphones or audio outs of your Xenyx, select the Xenyx.
Now create an audio track in Logic and select the correct inputs to match the inputs you are using on the Xenyx...
Record Arm the track and speak into your mic.. and see if Logic's meters move for that track you created...

  • When will we get a logic pro update for os x lion?

I want to use the new mac os but I also need to use Logic Pro. I wish that apple would update all of it's programs before releasing a new os. It seems
to me that the job is rteleased as an incomplete version.
When will we see a logic update for os x lion?

First the Logic team has to do a few more upgrades of Garageband for the iPhone, version 1.0 was just released, after they do that and then upgrade Garageband for the iPad and work on the Audio section of FCPX.. then Logic might see an update.
    Yes, I'm being facetious.

  • Will upgrading to ssd mess up my plugins in logic pro

I have a 2012 MBP.. I am wondering if i upgrade to a 1tb SSD.. will logic pro and all of my plugins switch over seamlessly?

If you clone your hard drive before the swap, everything should be seamless. Put the SSD in an enclosure and copy it with Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • Linking between two Logic Pro machines for recording...

I am working on a film overseas where I need to run two Macs recording live concerts to Logic Pro simulatinously. How do I effectivly sync these two machines in a master/slave set-up? Can I use MMC, or is there a different protocol?

    fuzzynormal wrote:
If you're doing post (and of course you would), you can always synch your tracks after the fact.
But the previous response is on target. If you got a lot riding on the recording I'd suggest getting dedicated audio hardware, (rent if you have to) capturing the tracks with confidence, and then importing those tracks to do your post-mix with Logic.
Anyway, how many simultaneous tracks do you need to grab?
FYI, I've recorded my drummer (8-channels) with a old ProTools rig on a ancient G4, and the rest of the band with my Mackie 16 channel rig running into a MacBook Pro with Logic. Synched 'em in post, no problem.
Depending on the length of the recording and the material being recorded, differences in clock can get you subtle but difficult-to-fix phasing issues with that approach.
Probably not an issue when you're recording a drummer through a Mackie, but if this gig is a big one, there may be very different gear and artists involved, and probably a couple sets of extremely expensive ears listening to the final result.
