32 bit vista won't sync

My system is 32 bit Vista, the computer is capable of 64 bit (if that makes a difference)
my ipod does not sync, apple mobile device driver will not start
I have the latest itunes,
its charged
ive done all the troubleshooting the site provides
and nada

Hey TouchMyPod86,
If you have other iPods that are recognized, your computers issue may be related to the Apple Mobile Device service also. The iPod's use the iPod service while the iPhone and the iPod touch use the Apple Mobile Device service to become recognized by the computer and iTunes.
A couple things that can stop Apple Mobile Device from installing correctly are security software and User Access Control.
Is the Apple Mobile Device service started on your computer?

  • IPhone 4 with iOS6 and iTunes 10.7 on PC/Vista won't sync!!!

Just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and my iTunes to 10.7. And now they won't sync. I get the "tone" indicating that the device is recognized when I plug into the usb port, but my iPhone does not appear as a device in iTunes, nor does the iPhone even appear as a device in My Computer. Have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. No luck. Have reverted back to installing iTunes 10.6.3 but then it won't open properly becasue the file "iTunes Library.itl" was created by a newer version of iTunes. So back to iTunes 10.7. Have run the iTunes diagnostics and get the below log. Nothing is working. Please help.

OK, getting closer. Looks like it may have something to do with my Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. I get this message when I look at it in Device Manager: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Unfortunately, when I try to update the driver Windows tells me that I have the latest version of this driver.
    Is there another remedy?

  • Z22 Hotsync using Vista - won't sync ebook files - then asks for reset

My Z22 asks for a rest everytime I hotsync and then the file (an ebook pdb) doesn't load to the hand held. previously I have tried it a few times and finally got the file on the hand held, but I tried numerous times with one file and it ALWAYS asks for a soft reset (date and time are correct - just have to acknowledge this)
Also, the Z22 won't hold more than one ebook. I'm sure this is not a full memory issue, as I have enough space for a few books.
    Can anyone help?

  • 64 bit Vista and Palm Desktop...

Wow! I've spent hours on the forum and the web because my new laptop has 64 bit Vista (and is a tablet as well). I'm a long, long time fan of the Palm having had an original US Robotics Palm Pro (in fact I still have it and the original box!) I've gone through several iterations and currently own a Sprint 700p -all this time I've been using the Palm Desktop and have loads of notes, contacts, etc. I love the Palm Desktop as a simple way to keep all my personal info together in an easy to access format.
Now I understand that 64 bit Vista won't sink via the USB but that there are solutions to synch with either IR or Bluetooth (fine, but you lose the ability to power up the 700p -guess I'll have to find the power plug). However, what doesn't seem to be clear is which version of Palm Desktop should I install on 64 bit Vista?
What happens if I load 4.1.4E under 64 bit Vista or should I use 6.2? I understand 6.2 is missing some features. Would be curious what others have experienced.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts, inputs, experiences, and opinions!
Just food for thought... if I can't find a solution that I like; I might just keep my old Dell laptop with XP running and terminal into it from my new tablet. Kind of silly, but what else do you do with an old laptop? Only problem is, I wouldn't have access to it when on the road without having to configure my router and an internet connection; but in theory I should have all my data on the 700p when out of the house.

Just to add on to what legendeld said:
Syncing will work fine in either solution, but I'd actually recommend using 6.2 for two main reasons. The first is that certain functions of 4.1 don't work in Vista. These include the Install Tool for adding files/apps to your device and the help files.
The second reason is that Bluetooth setup in 6.2 is much easier. In 4.1, you have to create a Bluetooth serial port and then set HotSync to scan that port for incomming connections. 6.2 simply gives youa Bluetooth connection option (as long as Vista recognizes your adapter).
Creating a serial port is pretty easy with most Bluetooth implementations, so you can still go the 4.1 route. But you won't be able to use the Install Tool if you do.

  • IPhone 4 won't sync calendar with Outlook 2010 and Windows 7

I have iPhone 4 and have noticed my Outlook 2010 (32 bit) calendar won't sync in either direction with my iPhone. I run Windows 7 (64 bit version 6.1 Home Premium). ITunes (10.4.1.10 version) sees my device and I even checked the serial number match. Entries in my calendar on the phone don't appear in Outlook and entries in Outlook don't appear on the phone. I have double checked all the settings and they all seem correct, so what is happening here?

Did you try the troublshooting mentioned here? Troubleshooting iPhone and iPod touch contact and calendar syncing via USB on Windows
Start with resetting the sync history:
    Reset Sync History
If you find that some of your data syncs to your device but you see an unexpected number of changes or modifications, you may need to reset your sync history. This causes iTunes to prompt to Merge or Replace information on the device when you next attempt to sync your information. To reset your Sync History:
    Open iTunes.
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Devices tab.
Click the Reset Sync History button.

  • Sync File Corruption with 64-bit Vista/iTunes

I'm getting some file corruption problems when trying to sync my new 16GB iPhone with the latest 64-bit iTunes (7.6.0.29). "yes I have the 64-bit version".
The sync seems to go correctly, but I have yet to be able to play any videos all the way through. Videos purchased from iTunes as well as self encoded files. All said files were working on my 60GB iPod Video with previous versions of iTunes on the same 64-bit Vista machine.
The videos will start playing fine, but will eventually reach a point in the file that was corrupted during transfer, the audio will drop out and the video will distort, then it exits from the video as if it reached the end of the file. No error messages or anything. If I play the file again, it will do the same thing at the exact same spot, so its a problem in the file. Now, if I remove the file and add it back, the file still has the same problem, but in a different location, which means the source is fine, but the copy to the device during the sync is the issue.
To test, I synced the exact same content from my notebook which is 32-bit XP, and zero problems. So I'm currently just using my notebook for syncing at the moment.
Anyone else with 64-bit Vista have a similar issue?

    Hello
I have a couple troubleshooting steps I would like you to try. I myself do not have a 64 bit Vista so I can not test this to confirm if the same issue occurs or not.
    1. Attempt to Sync content using each of the USB Ports. See if all USB Ports pose the same issue with the video. Or if you found when where it does not occur.
    2. Test on a new user on the Vista Machine. If possible take at least one or 2 movies and copy them onto a flash drive or something. And bring them into iTunes on a new user account. You may need to Authorize that user and De-authorize when your done. Does the same issue occur?
    3. If you perform a reboot on the iPhone, Then Sync Data over. Does the same issue occur?
    4. If possible could you restore the iPhone. Then Re-sync and see if same issue occurs.
    5. Is this happening with all videos? or only certain ones? Does the corruption occur at the same time frame every time? If so is it the same time frame for all videos or slightly different?
    6. Perform an Uninstall and Reinstall of iTunes on your system, See if same issue occurs.
Let us know how it goes.

  • After installing the 64 bit version of itunes my iphone still won't sync. I get the explantation that I mobile driver application did not download and i need to remove and reinstall itunes (which I have done numberous times).  Any help?

After installing the 64 bit version of itunes my iphone still won't sync. I get the explantation that I mobile driver application did not download and i need to remove and reinstall itunes (which I have done numberous times).  Any help?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • Vista 64- Ipod touch won't sync

downloaded the 64 bit itunes off of IEx64 and it still won't work. The Apple mobile service is there, I tried stopping/starting it and it still won't sync. When i plug it in now it reads it as "Digital Still Camera"
    what do i do?

Perhaps the questions had been answered earlier luvlabs, but I did a search and found it difficult to find a good answer within the discussions as there are so many people continuing to have this problem. I had more success just searching the Apple support site. I also think that since this has been a consistent problem for several months it is surprising that Apple hasn't improved iTunes so that this doesn't happen. It seems like a looping problem in the software Apple is always squirmy in the way it acknowledges any kind of problem.
For the best answer that Apple provides, check this link for its solution http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2050 (Also has separate links for PC users)
This problem happened to me when I upgraded to the latest iTunes and QuickTime. First, I followed the directions on disabling the automatic connection to iPhotos. See support.apple.com/kb/TS1501 (or look for links to Windows software)
Then I went through the list that Apple suggests for troubleshooting syncing problems. The one that finally worked for me was the last one. Reload iTunes. Restart computer. Finally the iTouch is showing up.
    Good luck!

  • IPod won't sync with iTunes on Windows 7/64 bit PC

I just updated my PC to Windows 7/64 bit. iPod will not sync with iTunes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried all the suggestions on the Internet (except restoring the iPod, too scary; and modifying registry on the PC, too too scary). The device thinks it has the most current software. The iPod tries to connect and appears briefly but then disconnects. A Windows message appears asking the following: "Do you want to scan and fix My iPod? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it." If I tell it yes to scan it gives another error message that is it not recognized. If I tell it to skip the scan, the device disconnects and nothing happens. No syncing. I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Has anyone encountered this type of issue and if so - how did you resolve it. I don't want to restore the iPod as I do not know if it will ever connect and sync again and all the music on it now would be lost and the device would be useless. Thank you in advance for your suggestions. Tikimom

  • Voice memo won't sync!! and won't let me email either!

believe me, i've got all settings correct.
I've been using voice memo for a long time and now for the first time it just won't sync at all
i've noticed lately that sometimes the voice memo doesn't sync,
I thought I operated wrongly, synced the iphone again, and was able to get the memos out.
    BUT NOT THIS TIME
    it's like permanently stopped working
I've got an important lecture in there and have to get it out asap
why doesn't apple even allow users to email large memos over wifi at least!??
this is really upsetting and disappointing
I seriously don't understand apple's logic on this

thanks, I just used iExplorer to get it out too
apple seriously has to listen to its customers
such huge amount of users have been complaining about this tiny yet important issue
they just don't give a dang
won't even allow users to have an alternative way of retrieving their files, and we have to use a 3rd party app to do their job??
    this is such a joke
it's even on the official website, like thousands of people have complained about the same problem for YEARS, numerous updates never fixed any bit of this
    what's your excuse, apple?

  • Issues with itunes 10.5 on Windows 7 (32 Bit) When Trying to sync iphone 4S or older

I see a lot of people out there, specifically windows OS owners (xp all the way to 7), having issues with iTunes 10.5.  Here are the following issues I've encountered (some may only have one problem, others my have a combo pack of problems).
    1. iphone 4S or older won't sync or backup
    2. iTunes store won't open
The issue I found after using the diagnostics tool in iTunes (which is useless in identify scripting issues or major communication issues), reviewing the windows event log, and reinstalling all apple software and components, was the fact that my spyware and anti virus software was causing a communication error within apple's software.  I use spyware doctor with anti virus.  I had to uninstall spyware doctor in order for iTunes 10.5 to work.  After that, everything worked well and I did a clean install of spyware doctor.
If the issue still persists, you might have to reset your internet protocol (TCP/IP).  You have to run a command prompt as an administrator and enter the following: netsh winsock reset
Visit this Microsoft link for more info about resetting your IP:  support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Finally words:  Apple, like all other software companies, continually encounter software glitches and issues because they don't test products correctly before bringing them to market- this has been a reoccurring theme for the last 2-3 years.  The most important aspect of using any software should be functionality, efficiency, ease of use, and above all "A Positive End User Experience."  Wasn't that Steve Job's mantra?  We can all hope that Apple embraces his philosophy and vision for the many years to come.  This, above all, is not a great start for Apple moving forward without their true inspirational leader.

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hours of frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a sync or tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and click to start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click on it.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running in safe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarily disabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but you should clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause of your issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer or do it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure if this is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all of us Windows 7 64-bit folks.

  • Applications tab doesn't work - apps won't sync

I'm starting to go a bit bonkers. It's been a while since I updated iTunes, and the Applications tab still doesn't work right. Is it just me? I can't click on anything/manipulate anything in that part of iTunes. And when I download new apps through the app store and tell my iPhone to sync, it doesn't sync the apps, even though "Sync Applications" under the Applications tab is checked.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've restored my iPhone. I've done both things a few times and you know what? Sometimes that makes it work. But if so, it only works one time. I can use the Applications window to check which apps I want synced and move things around onto different screens. But then if I click on another tab/navigate away from that window, it stops working. And I have to restore my iPhone again just to sync my apps.
Any suggestions? Help? Is it just me that's having this problem? Thanks...
    iTunes version: 9.0.2 (25)
    iPhone software version: 3.1.2

Wouldn't I lose all my paid apps if I go under a different account?
Still not working... only when I restore my iPhone to factory settings and reupload everything do I get my new and updated apps and have a working Applications tab. Then, if I quit iTunes and open it again later, I can't manipulate/change anything under the Applications tab, and my apps won't sync with the rest of the stuff on my iPhone. So maybe the solution is to leave iTunes open and my computer on FOREVER.
I'm seriously getting ticked that this isn't working right. Anyone else have this problem? Or just scuttlebutt and me?

  • IPod won't sync and iTunes not accepting authorisation

    Hi
bit of a complicated story (to me anyway).  My computer recently crashed and had to be completely restored, when I got it back and reloaded iTunes (itunes 11) all of my music was still there in the cloud, excellent.  I bought two albums last night from the iTunes Store and they won't sync with my iPod classic.  When I plug it in iTunes recognises it, it connects then ejects without syncing.  When I tried transferring my purchases I get a message to say iTunes is not authorised to play certain songs (not the songs I have just bought) and I need to authorise my computer.  Then a box comes up with an apple ID I have never seen before pretty filled.  I deleted that andout my details in but then I get a message to say my computer is already registered.  I'm on my 4th out of 5 computers so I don't want to start deauthorising and deauthorising unless that's the right thing to do.
Tried resetting etc but doesn't have any effect.  Any ideas?
    THanks

Took the tick out of manually manage itunes and all is well.

  • My itouch1st gen will not sync with my cmputer and ipad so i can't retrieve my songs, videos it won't sync and itunes don't  have my old purchases. how can i recover them

i cannot get my itouch to sync to my computer and ipad my itouch is the first one made.  my computer where my itouch was linked crashed and had to have windows vista reinstalled.  when it was re done itunes only showed recent purchases on it.  it would not resync with my itouch with still has all the music and viideos and tv shows on it but won't sync with my new laptop or ipads2.  it will not tranfer the music, videos, tv either  what can it do

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.
