32 gig touch thinks it's 1970?

Hi all-
I just got a 32 gig touch as a present and while I like it a lot, I've noticed that occasionally it changes both the time and the date; suddenly it's 10 pm on January 1, 1970. On one occasion it was suddenly 10 pm on December 31, 1969. Re-syncing fixes it, but I'm curious why this happens all of a sudden. It doesn't affect playback, nor does it seem to set the date/time of the music played to that date, as in iTunes I don't see any tracks that were played in 1969.
Any ideas?

My 16GB has the same problem. Over time, I have figured that it is simply a reset of the settings (what happened to my alarms?). Apparently, it can happen while playing music as well. It works fine until about half battery, which I think is the problem: low battery.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

Touch thinks it is a camera and doesn't work - please help!!

I've looked at the other threads posted here but nothing seems to work. My Touch is still recognised in the Device Manager as a camera and the screen on the Touch itself still thinks that I need to connect the USB cable to my Touch, even though it is already connected. I've tried updating the drivers with the driver in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\ folder, but that doesn't work either. Any other tips please?

lol you guys must be macking around with those cracks on the Internet...try to put your iPod to recovery mode and it should be fine, follow this:
- Make sure the phone/touch is on. The phone/touch must also be docked or plugged in to your USB cable.
- Press and hold the Power and Home buttons on the phone until the screen shuts off.
- Release the Power button immediately. Keep pressing the Home button.
- You should see a number of horizontal lines invade the now-off screen, and it will be slightly disturbing. If you just see just flat blackness turn your phone back on and try again.
- Your computer will recognize an "Apple Restore (DFU) Device". Open iTunes and it will complain about needing to restore.
- Now just restore and everything will be back to normal.

Why is it so much for a new 8 gig touch and has only one camera lens-that is completely unfair, and a terrible tactic to play on people...

i dont understand why apple is charging so much more for the new ipod touch 5 , 8 gig with just one camera lens on it....its highway robbery...not only that every store that is close by to me are sold out of the 8 gig they also tried to rope me into the more exspensive ones...shame on you apple for doing this...it cost you pennies to make these items and you cant help the little guy out by making it more affordable for a struggling single mother of two try to make this year better...i am ashamed of you and that your products are going down hill since the passing of the master mind...i will no long be purchasing your products and will be trading the other products i have so i can give my children a good christmas...thanks....

sorry yes i ment 16g it still don't make any sence on why they choose to place a front camera on the 16g and not one on the back as well....NOT EVERYONE takes selfies... thank you for the comparision info...but apple is falling short, they charge way to much money for this item...thanks for the respond...

S440 Touch - Think its dead

Hello everyone.
Ran into a bit of a problem today and unfortunately i cant get in touch with the local tech support till Monday. So im just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me.
S440 was delivered mid April and all seemed to be going well apart from the small blemishs on the case of the computer on arrival.
So the issue is last night i used the always on USB to charge my phone and was using the laptop to copy over music and surf the net.
Today woke up and the laptop was dead. Had to run out to work so just thought that the battery was flat. On getting to work plugged in the computer and nothing happened. Thought it might be a dodgy plug as wasnt in my office so when i got home tried the normal plug that i would used and still nothing. I spoke with the lenovo support in the US and they had me press the little button on the base of the computer for about 20 seconds for a static discharge.
The only hope i have is that the status light flashes 3/4 times when i plug in to power cable ( i think ) on the ohter hand i think that the computer is dead and needs to be replaced.
if the laptop is dead I am starting to wonder what silly mistake i have made by moving to this brand and when the computer is replaced will i need to do this again in another 4 months. As i use the computer for work this is not something that i can deal with on a regular basis.
Has anyone else had the same issue and what was the outcome?

I managed to get the computer to work again after pressing the reset button, taking the battery, memory and SSD out, disconnecting and reconnecting the BIOS battery, then plugging only the battery back (which gave me a long string of beeps together with several status LED blinks), and then reconnecting first the memory (so I could get into Lenovo Diagnostics), and then the SSD. The status LED now blinks three times every time I connect the power source, but I guess is a small price to pay...
Finally, I disabled the Always-on USB option from the BIOS, since I think this caused the issue in the first place. I'm posting this in case someone else runs into the same problems.

Hi my daughters ipod touch gen 4 powers up but then just thinks and wont go any futher,can some help??
Ive tried resetting it and restoring it,it said it couldnt restore there was an error of some sort.

Sounds like a bad battery. Search ebay, there are people who provide the replacement service for as low as $19.

There is a serious problem with my 2nd gen 16 gig touch

ive had this problem for almost a couple months now,and its only been recently that i started to seek some real help.
- for starters, my ipod crashes.... All the time. when its running, i can play music, go thru apps, etc, but not very long, as it just blanks out, or the screen turns white...
- when that happens, i try to do a hard reset. the apple sign shows, but here is where it gets interesting. a series of things can happen here....
-the ipod just shuts off.
-it will white screen.
-orange lines will show on the screen.
-a series of other colors will show, almost rainbow, more like plaid.
-the apple sign will just have pink and purple moving pixels in it.
-random code will display, ending in "we're hanging here".
-the apple sign will just be purple, and the rest of the screen shows green.
- the apple sign will be somewhat animated, like its having a seizure, and its pixels distorted.
everytime i do a hard reset, one of these, if not something else, occurs. if not, it goes back to the main screen, and i can use it again, for however long it holds out.
if someone can figure out some solution to this before i just try and send it to apple, it would be awesome.

2. Why don't you make some playlists of the music you want on your iPod and sync the selected playlists rather than dragging the individual songs to your iPod. That way you only have to drag them into a playlist (or a few playlists) once and sync those playlists.

IPod Touch thinks 2.2.1 is up-to-date

When my iPod touch connects to the latest version of iTunes on my regularly updated Mac, the update iPod software section says that 2.2.1 is the latest software. I know this isn't true. How can I update?

1.1.4 no sync on 8 gig touch

I finally had the chance to update my ipod firmware to 1.1.4 and it destroyed my ipod. After downloading the update, the ipod would hang on the "verifying ipod software" until itunes crashed (7 or 8 times). after finally getting the ipod to update correctly the ipod WILL NOT SYNC TO ITUNES AT ALL. I have the latest version of itunes 7.6.2 (9) and the firmware is updated to 1.1.4 according to the settings inside of the ipod, I have restored the ipod countless times in the last three hours (using different macs as it still keeps crashing itunes during the restore) to no avail. I ALWAYS get the message " COULD NOT SYNC TO IPOD THE DEVICE IS NOT CONNECTED", during this entire time the ipod sync banner is scrolling across in itunes and the ipod also believes it is being synced. after 3 or 4 minutes of this itunes no longer responds and crashes. I have followed to the T EVERY LETTER IN THE IPOD TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE and nothing does any good. I have restored the ipod on 3 different macs and it does the same thing on all of them. I have created new user accounts on all 3 macs to get the firmware update to work, but i cannot copy the contents of MY MUSIC LIBRARY on my mac mini from the other computers. I have tried three separate ipod to usb 2.0 cables in every port of the mac mini. I have restarted time and time again. I have tried to sync a single song, and nothing, just my contacts list and nothing, i have tried everything apple recomends and IT DOES NOTHING! I am so frustrated I could throw this 300 dollar brick up against a wall. I need help and I NEED IT NOW! who do i bill for my wasted time on this product?

yeah, all 3 cables faulty (upon further inspection i found cat teeth holes in everyone of them)

IPod Touch stays on 1970

My 2nd Gen iPod Touch is stuck on 1970, it won't stay on current date.

-When changng the date are you starting with the year?
- In Settings>General>International is Calender set to Gregorian?

IOS5 on iPod Touch 2nd Gen

Will it ever happen, or is my iPod Touch 2nd Gen now just a useless hunk of junk that won't work with modern apps, which all seem to need iOS5?

Guys like you crack me up, really....
I mean c'mon... Do you really expect Apple or any other company to spend money to support obsolete technology? Do you think that Ford, GM, or any car makers still have parts for cars made in the 1920's? Its the same thing with personal electronics with one HUGE exception: Personal electronics become obsolete much, much faster than cars do.
And what's really sad is that it is obvious to the most casual observer than guys like you don't have the time or the inclination to actually do any research before you whip out the plastic, and its also obvious that because you don't have the tiniest inkling as to how quickly technology changes, you get all bent out of shape when you finally realize that you are behind everyone else.
Oh, and while we are talking about obsolete stuff, I have a 30gig 5th gen iPod Video, a 2nd gen Touch and a 30 gig Zune, all of which I resurrected from the dead. They all work fine and not one is currently supported by their manufacturers.
I also have a 32 gig 4th Gen Touch and an iPhone 4. The 30 gig iPod gets used in my truck, I use the Zune when I ride my Harley Sportster so I can listen to FM radio when I want to, the 32 gig Touch goes with my touring trike 'cause I use a Griffin FM transmitter to stream through the bike's FM stereo, and I use the iPhone for making phone calls..
Now really, isn't technology, even if it is obsolete, just freakin' wonderful?

Should I buy 2G touch today?

I've got my credit card here and am on the Apple site ready to purchase the 32 gig touch. Can't find it in any stores around here so I'm buying online. I've been following the discussions about the touch somewhat and am a bit skeptical although I know that it's a support site and you're gonna get info only on the bad issues folks are having. But there seem to be so many cool things about it and I would think that Apple will have fixes for the persistent problems and this place is great in terms of helping solve problems so...... I guess I just talked myself into purchasing. 'Just do it' like the nike commercial says; right?

Like you, I'm on the verge of buying one, but I have noticed that all the usual retail stores that were carrying it are now out of stock. Apple has a long history of frequent upgrades of their products and I'm wondering if the lack of on the shelf Touches might be heralding a new generation announcement? Because of that, I'm going to hold off for another week or two and see what happens. Enjoy your new "toy".

Can I control my Zen Touch by footswit

I use my Zen Touch for playing backing tracks for my band. Is there such a thing as a footswitch available to select tracks? I see that the iPod can be controlled in this way and was wondering if something similar is available for the Zen Touch?

I've got a 40 gig Touch and I want my $320 back.
Seriously. My Computer won't detect the player half the time. The interface is unergonomic and clunky. I've done multiple reinstalls of Nomad Explorer, and have already done a RMA on the player due to a backlight issue. I'm also shocked at the lack of accesories (like a small dockable boombox, wireless remote).
If there is to be a firmware release, It had better be soon and good. I want no brainer/intuiti've navigating. Perhaps upgraded software on the PC end too.....
I get sick thinking that for $4o dollars more I could have had an iPod 60G.

My grandson deleted all the data from his ipod touch . all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen and an apple logo. Our computer no longer recognizes the ipod nor does itunes, Help.

We do not have it backed up nor was it ever turned on to itunes. We purchased it used from a co worker and didnt get that far.. Our computers do not recognise it as any thing nor does itunes when we have it plugged into itunes. Any way to fix this? Apple support will remote into our computer to fix it. For $ 99.00. Well needless to say he used all his savings to buy the ipod so ...... Any free ideas??

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

ToDo's -- Why aren't they in iCal on my iMac and my iPod Touch?

To anyone that will listen at Apple...
I’ve been a devoted Apple user for years. I’ve owned 2 different palm pilots and did the best I could to sync them with my Mac (Palm Desktop, The Missing Sync) -- though always with only limited success.
I’ve always longed for the day Apple would come up with the perfect portable device that could flawlessly sync with my desktop. And after a very long wait, I have finally bought the iPod Touch -- thinking it would be everything I’d always hoped in terms of ease of use, synchronization, and all around perfection! Now, I do indeed believe that my new Touch can do anything -- it blows the buttons off of my old Palm device... BUT... why in the world would the desktop version of iCal, which holds all my very precious and plentiful ToDo’s, not perfectly sync with my Touch’s “Calendar” app so that it includes everything right where it deserves to be??? Why isn’t it just “iCal”??? I understand (after much searching) that apparently (and confusingly!?!) I can have my iCal ToDo’s sent to the Mail app on my Touch... if I have an IMAP email account... which I don’t... but why would you guys set it up that way in the first place?!? Everything else you’ve created is so elegant, so intuitive. What good are To Do’s to me in a mailbox? I’d like them right where I have them on my iMac!?! A beautiful little checklist...
Since last year, I’ve been looking at all sorts of “To Do” apps, pouring through reviews, hoping for something great to be there. And I could choose one... and I could use it, but... why in the world do I have to???
I guess this is less of a question and more of a request for the creators of the OS X and the iPhone OS, but could you please, PLEASE make these two wonderful calendars work together, in EVERY way? Could you make them sync wirelessly too? Could you update these two platforms together, and make this work for those of us that really deserve to see this major oversight corrected? I’ve read other’s comments on this subject, and it confounds everyone that it affects... in my mind, it’s simply so... un-Apple of you!
Don’t make it cost anything, and don’t make me wait long either -- this should have been correct from the start. I will consult with you and help you understand the problem better, if that’s what it takes. But please just get this one little HUGE thing right. For me, and everyone that loves everything Apple!

totally agree. I ended up buying 3rd party to do list software, which I then have to synch via wifi with my desktop imac. Why couldn't a ToDo list be built into the ipod?
