32 MB cache with the 1 TB HDD in early 2009 MP??

If you bought an Early 2009 Mac Pro with the 1 TB hard disk drive, what is the brand and model? I am most interested in knowing if the 1 TB HDD is a 32 MB cache or a 16 MB cache.
I believe you get your Mac Pro with the 640 KB HDD it's only with a 16 MB cache.
Thanks!

Use System Profiler to look at your hard drives.
You can get to the profiler by running it from /Applications/Utilities, or by selecting "About This Mac" from the Apple menu and then clicking the "More Info..." button there.
On the left side is a list. Select "Serial ATA" and you'll get a list of your hard drives, completely with brand, model, serial number, and all kinds of information.

  • Help needed to sync cache with the database using CacheStore

    Hi,
    I need to have my cache in sync with the database. I followed the tutorial to create a DBCacheStore class which will act as a CacheStore between Cache and my Oracle database. My Cache-Config file contains
    <backing-map-scheme>
                        <read-write-backing-map-scheme>
                             <internal-cache-scheme>
                                  <local-scheme></local-scheme>
                             </internal-cache-scheme>
                             <cachestore-scheme>
                                  <class-scheme>
                                       <class-name>com.coherence.cacheUtil.DBCacheStore</class-name>
                                       <init-params>
                                            <init-param>
                                                 <param-type>java.lang.String</param-type>
                                                 <param-value>{cache-name}</param-value>
                                            </init-param>
                                       </init-params>
                                  </class-scheme>
                             </cachestore-scheme>
                        </read-write-backing-map-scheme>
                   </backing-map-scheme>
    Now, what I am trying to achieve is,
    1. Load the cache with values when the cache server is up, without any need to run separate program
    2. Integrate all read/write cache operations with the database
    I am aware that CacheStore class implements store, storeAll, erase, eraseAll, load, loadAll methods from undelying interface and I need to write corresponding code to add/remove/update records in the database.
    But, I am really not sure how and when to include the logic to load the cache with the data from the database when the server is up.
    Thank for the help. Much appreciated!

    Could you try something like this to load the cache?
    HashSet buffer=new HashSet();
    s = conn.createStatement();
    rs = s.executeQuery("select key from table");
    while (rs.next())
    String key = rs.getString(1);
    buffer.add(key);
    // this loads 1000 items at a time into the cache
    if ((count++ % 1000) == 0)
    cache.getAll(buffer);
    buffer.clear();
    if (!buffer.isEmpty())
    cache.getAll(buffer);

  • How do I properly zero out or erase the hard drives in my early 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 tower?

    How do I properly zero out or erase the hard drives in my early 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 tower?
    I assume there are already instructions on Apple.com someplace but haven't seen them yet… I have to one terabyte drives one the operating system the other is blank I want to start fresh I want to zero out both drives but I didn't want to make any mistakes
    I know I can use disk utility to 0 Out Dr., #2 that means I will have to take out the operating system hard drive out of my 2008 Mac Pro and put it into my 2009 Mac Pro to use the disk utility to zero out drive one the OS drive in my 2009 Mac Pro am my correct
    I just need a little bit a help I want to go slow so I don't make any mistakes with the sleds or with the erasing process which journaled to choose encrypted or not etc. etc.
    Furthermore is there instructions on the site on how to change the hard drive into a different sled because the sleds and my 2009 are different than my 2008 any advice
    Thank you

    I'm doing this because my friend told me that zeroing out the drive can nap bad sectors and also later for some kind of diagnostics usage of the drive or something like that he wasn't really clear
    My friend was really specific he said choose the option that writes zero's once over the drive that is plenty good enough I was inclined to use the maximum seven write ...I just want to make sure the drive has no bad sectors and that's it's it's zeroed out for possible future diagnostics usage or something that he said was usable later
    he also advised me to run a test on it but I don't have the software you mentioned or the software that he has… So I may have to take the drives over to his house unless you have some kind of free software that's easy to use that you could suggest that will not only zero out the drive but test the drive completely
    I am completely new to Mac I'm no dummy but at the same time I'm not super technically capable I mean I can surprise myself I'm pretty good but I need a good teacher… How expensive is this lifeguard software?
    Thank you

  • Potential problems with the 3 TB HDD on ThinkStation P series?

    I'm very much considering a Lenovo ThinkStation P300. I'm planning on getting two hard drives: (1) the 2.5" 256GB SATA Solid State Drive (OPAL) as the first (boot) drive
    (2) the 3.5" 3TB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive for storage space I have a question about (2); should I get 2 TB or 3 TB? Obviously, the choice is up to me, based on how much I think I want to store and how much I want to spend. However, after tentatively choosing the 3 TB, I have been given pause after researching on the web a bit. Let me explain... The P300 specs sheet here says that Lenovo's part number for the 3 TB HDD is 4XB0F18668. If I search for part number 4XB0F18668 on the Lenovo website, I find this page. On the picture, it looks like the drive has a Seagate logo on it. So the OEM for the 3 TB HDD for the ThinkStation P300 is probably Seagate. A web image search for "4XB0F18668" suggests -- though not conclusively -- that it is a Seagate Barracuda. Unfortunately, a report from Backblaze suggests that 3 TB Seagate Barracuda drives have very high failure rates, compared to other drive sizes. Reviews here seem to corroborate that. Do you have any experience with 3 TB drives being particulary unreliabe? Do you think that I should go with 2 TB? Is there any way I can know if the 3 TB HDD option for the ThinkStation P300 is actually Seagate Barracuda? Or might the 3 TB HDD on the P300 be by an OEM other than Seagate? Thanks for your time.

    The way commodities (such as HDDs) are handled is we generally qualify several different drives for each "drive type" in order to maintain continuity of supply.  So just because you saw a picture of a Seagate drive online doesn't necessarily mean that you will get a Seagate drive when ordering your system.
    My advice, buy the capacity you need.  Any drive that's officially qualified goes through extensive testing to make sure it meets required quality levels, so there is a level of confidence there that if we're selling it, we're going to back it and warrant it if needed.
    Also keep in mind that often retail drives aren't the same as what we're actually shipping.  Quite often, we ship drives with unique Lenovo firmware, which helps the drive meet our quality requirements.

  • What is the best connection method for early 2009 mac mini to 27" Monoprice monitor

    I just ordered the new monoprice 27" LCD display. It has displayport 1.2 and hdmi inputs as well as Dula Link DVI. It also has two onboard speakerd with a small amp. So before i plunk down $99 for a dual ink converter cable...how shuld i connect his monitor? And can i get audio to it as well for the speakers?
    Here is the link:

    I would love this to be true, but Monoprice is saying i need to go with the Dul link DVI cable. But i may try this first since its not only cheaper, but i read horror stories about the Dual Link DVI cable.

  • Is The Spacebar On The Apple Wired Keyboard (circa early 2009) Symmetrical

    My spacebar seemed to have a dead spot and was rattling a bit, so I took it off to clean under it. Now I am about to put it back in place, but I need to know if one side is meant to go up or can it go in either way. It might be my eyes playing tricks on me but one side appears to be infinitesimally thicker.
    Also if the cleaning doesn't have the desired effect is there anything else I can do to get the spacebar to be more consistant?

  • How to solve a serious problem with the Battary of my T500 laptop ?

    Hi Forum,
    My personal laptop is Lenovo THINKPAD T500 2055, and its main specifications are as follows:
    - 39T6651 SBB 9 CELL LI-ION BATTERY
    - Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
    - 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module 4 GB (2 x 4 GB) 1066MHz DDR31066/PC38500 DDR3 SDRAM SoDIMM Kingston.
    - 2 GB Intel Turbo Memory hard drive cache.
    - ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256MB.
    - 160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm.
    - Windows 7 Ultimate with the latest Service Pack (x64).
    My problem precisely and concisely is the Battary. I have been using my laptop with the same battary since 01.01.2009 (Almost 3.5 Years), and the battary has been working quite OK.
    Most of the time my laptop is plugged in and working with the electricity. However, A very few times I used the laptop while it is running on battery, Nevertheless, I have the habit to empty the batter once in a while i.e. Every 3 weeks, I unplug the charger and keep using the laptop till I see the warning orange sign (5%), then, I plug it in again.
    Thankfully, I never had any problems with the battary nor the laptop, and when I charge the laptop usually it shows full sign (100%).
    Three days ago, All of a sudden my laptop starts flashing the orange battary sign constantly while charge indicates 100%. When I try running on the battery by unplugging the AC adapter, the laptop loses power immediately and shuts down right away.
    What do you think should I do? Could you please provide me any useful tips to resolve this problem?
    I would greatly and sincerely appreciate all your inputs !
    Thanks for your consideration of my request, and I very much look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    In the control panel goto the "Lenovo - Power Manager" and click the battery tab, there is a maintenance button in there that will let you change the charging profile for your battery.   (from memory, so exact wording may be off)
     The lower the numbers you use there, the longer the battery *should* last.    These batteries degrade faster at higher charge levels, however storing them at too low of levels is also not good for them... I've read that 40% is optimal, but just not realistic if you use your computer.

  • How to integrate SQL table with the cahce

    Hi,
    In normal ASP.net application we use the
    sqlCacheDependency to integrate the SQL server with the cache in ASP.NET, so that any change in the SQL table row will replace the cache with the latest data.
    How to achieve the same in the Azure cache.
    We need to integrate the SQL server with the Azure cache so that any change in the SQL table row should replace the cache with the latest data.

    Hi,
    Cache in Azure is not different with ASP.NET, please see
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/gg278356.aspx for more details, Azure provides for multiple types of persistent storage which can be leveraged for caching (Azure SQL Database, Azure Table Storage, Azure Blob Storage etc…). I would suggest
    you read this article (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/blog/cid/425642/Understanding-Windows-Azure-Caching-for-building-high-performance-Websites
    ), because of we know where the cache data is, so we can sync up the data as expected.

  • Conversion issue with the French version of Presenter 9 and 10

    Anterior versions worked fine
    The problems described here arise on different PC (windows 7)
    Some "objects" (images, graphics...)  in the ppt wont show up in the Presenter document
    Sentences and even words are cut : the first part is shown on a line and the other part on a second line
    We tried the "shadow 1%" fix but without any success.
    Those problems can arise even in a previously "normal" Presenter  document !
    For example :1) Slide 4 of a Presenter document X is ok. 2) We make a modification in the slide 2 of the ppt x 3) then publish in presenter. 4)  we realize that slide 4 lay-out is no longer normal !!!

    Unfortunately, I need to report back that this didn’t resolve the issue. On my presenter, the editor still jumps over the slide with the logos. As said earlier, it shows the slide for line 0,2 seconds and then moves to the next.
    Also, for the record, I have many slides with only 7 objects (2 pics and 5 text fields) which have the same effect in some other presentations.
    Please advice.

  • 3 Screens with MacBook Pro 13' ? or just with the 15'

    is it possible to connect 3 screens (no Thunderbold) with the MacBook Pro 13' Retina (early 2013) or only with the 15' Retina with the external graphics card.

    Hi,
    It really depends on what you'll be using the MacBook Pro for.
    If you're selling your iMac, will your MacBook Pro be a desktop replacement? If so, I would go down the 15" i5/i7 route, but that's based on HD encoding requirements I currently do on my iMac.
    As it is, I recently sold a 2008 unibody 15" 2.53GHz as I found it too large to comfortably carry around. I was thinking iPad, but decided a 13" MacBook Pro was the best of both worlds, a fairly capable mobile offering, physically smaller than my old 15" unibody yet more powerful than an iPad.
    The 13" reminds me of my original PowerBook G4 12", which was my prefect travel companion (computer wise).

    I don't think that there is an SSD cache. However, you should be able to swap the hdd for a proper solid state drive.
