I try use two cascaded counter without any success.

Frequency/Period measurement with USB-6218

I have been trying to get a USB-6218 to measure either frequency or period and have been running in to issues. I have attempted to connected to each counter gate (PFI1 or PFI2) and have not had any luck. I am attempting to meausre lower-frequency signals (1Hz-1KHz) so the Low-Frequency, 1 counter approach seems to be the one I need. The end goal is to get it working in Labwindows. I have made attempts using both sample LabWindows programs as well as MAX. In each of them, it appears that the frequency measurement is actually coming back with the pulse width of both the low and high portions of the signal. For instance, if I am trying to meausre the period of a 100 Hz signal, with a 75% duty cycle, it will toggle between 0.0075 and 0.0025 seconds for the period. If I increase the frequency of the signal to 10 KHz, it measures the frequency well. Is there something I am missing? Based on the manual, I should be able to meausre lower frequency signals using this method. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you upload a screenshot of your Task in MAX is setup? Is this happening at all lower frequencies or just at 100 Hz? Lets make sure we can get this working in MAX before adding LabWindows/CVI on top of it.
Sometimes this can happen if the rise/fall time of the signal is not within the specifications of the device. This KnowledgeBase article shows the acceptable rise/fall times.

Can I trigger the read of a buffer period measurement with a external signal (PFI line) with my 6602 card? How can I do it?

I am doing a buffered period measurement with a 6602 card, Labview real time. I want to measure the period of 6 rising edges of a TTL, but I want to do it exactly when an edge comes on other external signal (of course slowler than the previous one), that is to say that I want an external start trigger. Can anybody help me? I have hardly searched at the web and I have not found an example of code of what I am looking for.
Another question:
After reading the buffer, how does my program know that the data has been refreshed in a continuous measurement? I attach two VIs I am trying to make work and a quite explanatory bmp of what I
want to do.

Hello;
I can't think of any way to accomplish that task. Once the counters have only two input pins, and both are in use when one configures the counter to do buffered measurements, there isn't a way to trigger that operation in hardware.
I'm not sure if I understood your second question, however, the buffered operation on a counter is hardware controlled, meaning that a pulse on its gate input triggers the transfer of the count value from the counter register to the PC memory buffer. That is therefore a continuous measurement.

Cannot close period 3/1998 with MMPV

   When i try with 3/2007 and execute. i got an error

   I Had faced this Problem go to T.Code: OMSY There check CoCd : 0001 in which year & Month Till Closing period is there. As per your query it must be in 1998 03.
So Now Go to MMPV CoCd: 0001 (your Cocd)
Period : 04
Fiscal Year : 1998
It Gives a Warning Message as :
The specified year 1998 is not the current calendar year (Press Enter)
Period is closed for 04 1998 in this way you do for all months till you Get Calender year 2007.
I thing This Solve your Problem.

Meas buffered semi-period continuous.vi with DAQPad-6020E

Hi,
Does anybody know if it's possible to use the meas buffered semi-period continuous.vi with the DAQPad-6020E? Or, if it's not, what workarounds might be possible?
LabVIEW responds with Error 200220 (Measurements: Device identifier is invalid). I know the hardware is definitely good because I can run other VI's with it.

Are you able to make any kind of counter examples run on your device? There are two counters on your board, are you using any of the counters for something else while running this example? Do you also get the same error in Measurement and Automation Explorer (Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> Measurement and Automation Explorer). You can create a new task and select Acquire Signals >> Counter Input >> Semi Period. Please let me know if you get the same error in this environment as well.
Also, what is your operating system and what is the DAQmx driver version that you are using?

if there are multiple PWS in an organisation and if the client requires the absences to be counted in different manner depending on the PWS. this counting class can be used.
use the appropriate check box in counting rule.

i try to install "jre-7u51-windows-i586.exe" (32bit) via CA IT Client Manager (Version 12.5) on serveral machines (64bit), OS MS Vista.
Error: .... cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.
manually installation works without errors.
i need jre 32bit on 64bit!

MBP Periodically blacks out with a faint "hardware" sound

For the last couple of days, my (approximately 2.5-year-old) MBP's screen has been blacking out periodically. When it blacks at, it does so for 2-5 seconds, and is accompanied by a very quite, and I mean the faintest - I don't know what else to call it - "hardware" sound? A bit like the sound one gets when one's Macbook Pro is starting up, but neither as loud nor as extended. Furthermore, this often happens while I'm writing, and the last two times it has occurred I have continued to write while the screen is black, and once it returns, I notice that what I have written has been truncated (for example, I am writing "anthropocentrism" and, once the screen comes back on, what I see is "anentrism." And yes, I DID hit all the keys. I'm a very accurate typist and this sort of thing has happened on more than two occasions). Does this have anything to do with the last update Apple released prior to the release of Lion? I can't remember exactly when I installed the last update, but there might be some correlation there. I just hope this doesn't have anything to do with my hardware...
If it's any help, I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (or is it 9600M GT? System Profiler is showing both) graphics card, although, as my description above would indicate to ME at least, it is probably not a problem with my graphics card.

Exact same specs as Mika on my powerbook, and I just recently got the exact same buzzing sound. It sounds like it is coming from under / near the trackpad. Sometimes it is quiet, and other times it is louder.
Running the diagnostic shows no problems. It sounds like a fan with a loose bearing or something else that is rotating and either hitting something else, or not working as it should. It started all of a sudden, and I'm quiet worried about the situation of the computer overall.
In general, almost the exact same problem as the O.P. and none of the solutions I've seen seem to correct it. I suspect it may have something to do with the video card, but I could be wrong (say an extra fan on it). Otherwise perhaps the harddrive, but I would have to know what the internals looked like to pinpoint it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: After looking at another website to pinpoint where the sound is coming from, it is almost CERTAINLY coming directly from the hard drive.

Periodic Billing: Invoicing with VF01 vs VF04

Hello,
I have created a basic billing plan for a rental contract. The contract is for 12 months (01.01.-31.12.2011)
Billing date is at month end. Billing plan type is 02 = periodic and does NOT have a billing block assigned to it.
Now I would like to create an invoice with VF01 for the month of January i.e. I go into VF01 and put in billing date 31.01.2011 but the system gives me all 12 items.
When I use VF04 and also enter billing date to 31.01.2011 it gives me only the first invoice for January (which is correct).
Why is the functionality in VF01 different to VF04? Why does VF01 not pull in the first item only (even though I enter billing date 31.01.2011)?
What am I doing wrong here?

the field 'Billing date' in first screen of VF01 is the Default billing date, it is not a selection criteria.
To select by billing date in VF01 select menu Settings > Selection date.

Do u use vista 32bit or 64bit software with bootcamp 1.4?

I just got a mac pro and need to use older pc software and will load vista.
macpro is 64bit computer but the bootcamp 1.4 manual says for XP use 32 bit software. Is this the same for Vista, or can I use 64bit vista software?

Bootcamp only supports 32bit windows and while you are correct that your computer is 64bit and can run Vista 64 its generally not recommended.
First the only real advantage to running 64bit windows is you have access to more ram. The downside is that unlike 32bit windows, 64 bit will only install Microsoft Signed drivers. This can be accomplished by searching the net, but until you get them all your computer will have less functionality.
Third (I cannot confirm this since I don't run 64bit vista) is that 64bit windows reportedly has issues running games and such.
Bottom line, problems with getting the drivers, running games just for a more maximum ram means little advantage to going that route.

I am doing semi period measurement. I want to measure the frequency and duty cycle of the PWM signals. But when I run it, it has error. Hi marconi,
This error that you are getting is a buffer overflow error and is likely due to the value that you used as an input to "number of samples" on the DAQmx Read VI. You had it set to 4 but depending on how fast the PWM that you are reading is, you may be acquiring values to the onboard buffer much faster than you are retrieving them with the DAQmx Read VI. Then when you call the DAQmx Read VI, which reads relative to a read pointer the data that you are expecting to read from the buffer has already been overwritten. One way to get around this is to increase the number of samples to read each time you call the DAQmx Read VI. I tried out your VI and got it to work with a slight modification to the start trigger (using PFI0 instead of the 20MHz timebase) and added a loop condition to stop from getting a buffer underflow error as well. Take a look and see if this helps out. Also, why are you triggering off the 20MHz timebase? is there a particular reason? This is essentially like using no start trigger since you should get the first rising edge of that almost immediately after the DAQmx Start VI is called. I am just curious, since using this start trigger did not actually work for me (though I didn't look into why).
