32GB iPod Touch Capacity now just 16GB??

My 32GB iPod Touch is now showing a total capacity of just 14.64GB rather than the 29GB or so that was there before.
The iPod froze when I was using Safari and I tried to quit by holding down the Home button, but that didn't work. Then I tried holding down the sleep/wake button, but that did not work either. So, I held down the Home and the sleep/wake button and, eventually, the Apple logo came up and I began the restore process. But, as the files were restoring I noticed that the capacity was 14.64GB.
I have tried restoring a few times and I tried to sync a 25GB playlist, but iTunes told me that there was not enough room on the iPod.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
James

It wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't a four hour drive through the lovely wintery roads to make it to the nearest Apple Store.
If you are still under warranty/AppleCare you can contact AppleCare and send in your touch by mail. See http://www.apple.com/support/serviceassistant/overview.html for more information.

  • Hello. Does the 32GB iPod touch 4-gen now come with the earbuds lacking the microphone and controls?

I just purchased a 32GB ipod touch from a local Target, and am surprised that the Apple earbuds in the package are the plain ones. My previous 4Gen ipod touch came with earbuds with microphone and controls.  Did I get a 'mistake'?  Thanks.

(So sorry for the late follow up.)  So, I visited our local Apple store and a Genius told me that Apple has never included the 'earphones with remote and mic' in their iPod touch packages. I can't believe that is true, because I would have saved the box end/UPC and printed 'manual'.  But, I have a happy ending: the Apple Genius accepted my plain earphones as a trade-in for a new pair of earphones with mic/remote.  That is Apple Care. - And by the way, I now have a box/UPC and product booklet - proof for the future.
    Cheers.

  • I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.

I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

ALL of your music should be on your computer in itunes.  Is it not?
How did it get on your ipod in the first place if not from your comptuer?
Everything on your ipod should be on your computer and you should be syncing regularly.

That sounds like you've engaged one of the automatic syncing options for your nano.
Plug the nano in, and go into the Device screen for the nano in itunes. Is "manually manage ..." unchecked? If so, check the box for it, and click okay. Disconnect and reconnect the nano. Is the content on the nano able to be selected in your iTunes now?

I have a brand new ipod touch 32gb ipod touch. Upgraded to ios 7. open music app but there is no radio tab to select!!! All online help just says, "just select it".
I have looked at the "More" part but again radio is not an option.
    Can you help?

Just wait a bit.  Turn it off, then back on.
I don't know why, but after the update it doesn't show up right away.
When it finally does, you will find a red icon on the bottom of the screen, on the left side.

I just downloaded a new software update to my ipod touch and now the ipod and screen are frozen. I received a message that the download was not successful and now my screen is showing the blue round itunes symbol with an arrow pointing to the symbol and shows a cable below it. I have tried the restart of pushing the two buttons together and waiting 10 seconds for the apple symbol which appears and then go backs to the same stuck symbol. My computer is not recognizing the ipod either and will not connect. What needs to be done?  Thanks.

Try manually placin the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes.
Next try DFU mode and restore

i did a factory reset on my ipod touch but now when i try turning it on it just goes to the apple screen with a loading sign, ive let my battery die and tried reconnecting but it still wont work. it doesnt even come up on itunes.

Why won't it let you sync?  What happens when you try to sync it? Any error messages from iTunes?  How is your iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library?  In other words, what options do you have selected from under the iPod's Music tab in iTunes?  To access this tab, plug your iPod in, select it under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes, and over to the right locate and select the Music tab along the top.
Or are you trying to manually manage your iPod's contents?  In other words, is the Manually manage music and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?

  • Buy the iPod Touch g2 now or wait it out?

Hi there! I recently have gotten enough money for a 32GB iPod touch. I had been wanting one at release of the first generation, but had next to nothing as far as money. I currently have the iPod that first played video (got it when it first came out and still love it), but I need something so that I can use the internet on campus at the college because the open lab is usually on the other side of the campus that I'm at.
I've been reading about quite a few bugs with the 2nd generation iPod Touch such as: lower battery life and unable to connect to WPA routers. At home I have a Linksys 160 Wireless-N (b/g compatible) router, LOVE IT, but I use WPA. I'm sure it's not really a big deal with WPA because I live in the middle of nowhere and I highly doubt my neighbor is capable of hacking into my wireless network, let alone use a computer. But if the campus uses a WPA encryption (don't know whether or not it does) then it would render the touch useless.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks

its been a bit of a rough start if you dont read some of the app help threads, but its such a good device and the apps are getting more powerful, and consistent.
it has wifi'd to almost every router i have encountered. lots of great content. very secure.
i bought the first generation and had a few issues.
now this second one is way more solid.
they hit the mark on this one.
battery issue is if you don't turn down the brightness of the screen.
if you do that its been lasting almost 18 hours for me, reading books
listening to music, some games, and emails.
    just some thoughts.

Please, is there anyone one out who can help me solve this problem? I just can seem to figure out how to get to the U.S. store... thanks!

I just read this solution, tried it & now it's working...
I think I found a fix...I went to Settings, iTunes & App Stores, then click on your Apple ID...view Apple ID...change country region to USA (even though it was already USA...just do it again...go through the steps making sure the United States store is selected...agree to the Terms of Service, THEN I think what the key is is to RE-auhorize your credit card...in my case all I had to do was enter the security code...and it worked...I am now able to download the YouTube app for example...couldn't do it before.

  • HT1386 I updated my daughters iPod Touch and now the music states is it now stored on iCloud and can be accessed on WiFi or cellular.  There is no music stored on the iPod and she listens to it outside of the home without WiFi.  I will not let me sync.

I updated my daughter iPod touch.   Now the music states that it is on iCloud and can be accessed using WiFi or cellular.   I need to move the music back on the iPod so that she can listen to it without WiFi.   I tried to Restore backup but still does not work.   I tried to sync, still does not work.

Is the music in your iTunes library?
    Why can't you sync?
You said "Now the music states that it is on iCloud and can be accessed using WiFi or cellular."
    where does it state that?
Just redownload them from iCloud to the computer and the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I dropped my ipod touch and now it wont charge

I dropped my ipod touch and now it wont charge. When I plug it in to charge it just keeps going off and on.

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Is 3.0 included on all new ipod touch from now on? +itunes question

Anyone know if 3.0 is included on all new ipod touch from now on? If so, does Apple have a history of giving you credit for the software update if say, you just got the ipod a couple days ago? I just bought my first mac and got the 2g ipod touch with it on Friday. Argh. If I had known I would've waited but I was so excited from the WWDC news of the 13" macbook I was stalking for so long that I just bought it! I would like to save that $10 if I could. Anyone know if Apple does such things?
Also, I have a 1g iPod touch that was synced with my windows pc. I figured out how to transfer my paid apps and other apps to the new touch, but it says it can only be linked to one iTunes. Is there a way for me to set it up so I can sync the ipod from my new mac from now on? but keep the apps?
    THANKS!

Suz, as long as iTunes on both computers are authorized, you should be able to start synching to both. But make sure you do a back-up on your old computer(the one you was synching to all along) before starting to sync your apps to the new one. If you're not sure whether your iTune has been authorized, you can click on 'Store' then go down to the last section where it should say 'View My Account (your e-mail)...'. If not then Authorize it again. Since you may not have all the music files from your previous computer, you should uncheck all sync categories check boxes until you've transfer them by other means to your new pc, otherwise it will erase them from your iPod. The first time you click the sync button(assuming you've already authorized both pcs), a message will pop up asking whether you will want to 'Erase data' or 'Transfer purchases', click on 'Transfer purchases' and iTune will automatically transfer all your iTune purchased songs and apps to your new iTune.
