32HL67U Picture Shot

I have a Regza 32HL67U LCD TV and teh picture has gone bad. The colors are off, either too red or too green, half the screen has a dark "cloud" over it and the motion has serious trails, as if it is not refreshing fast enough. The LCD screen itself looks OK and the backlight is fine but I do not know where to look next. Is anyone familiar with these symptoms?

Golden,
NEVER judge picture quality from a computer monitor.
Nothing wrong is going on. You always have to monitor your video externally.
Then [see here|http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?objID=f939&search=Go&q=Monitoring +HDV] to find out how to monitor HDV.

  • Grainy horrible picture shot with Sony FX7 when capturing

Please help...I shot 15 hours of footage with my new FX7 and am importing it to Final Cut Pro (6.0.2). I shot as HDV. The picture quality looks awful on iMac screen. It is grainy, not at all like it looks like on a FX7 screen.
I connected the camera straight to Sony Bravia HD ready TV and the quality is very good, but only if I put on the Bravia´s "noise reduction system" at full level.
So this is straight from the camera without recording. When I switch off the noise reduction system, the picture looks grainy. Not as bad as on iMac screen, but still bad.
What is going on here? Am I missing something here on HDV material vs "normal material"?
    All the best, Timo

  • ImageCapture app won't see new pictures shot on iPhon after update to 4.1

I updated my iPhone 3G from 3.1 to 4.1 and got a slower and buggy phone now.
When I connect to PC or Mac to download new pictures made by iPhone, it is impossible to see them with the usual "ImageCapture app".
The new pictures are seen on iPhone but not on Computer....
The only way to download them is to e-mail the pictures Is this Bug known?? How I restore my iPhone3g to a usable phone now??? shame on apple - next time better no to update

    OK I gotcha!
I changed the default application from Imagecapture to iPhoto
    I connected my iPhone
I opened with iPhoto and - after a long wait - the latest pictures appeared in iPhoto
then I went back to Imagecapture and suddenly the latest pictures appeared too.
I noticed that the new photos has been named with lower number than expected, so having order by name made the latest pictures "invisible"
I switched to ordering by date and I found them
I wonder only why suddenly, after upgrading from 3.1 to 4.1, the names of pictures aren't progressive but went back from IMG_3248.jpg to IMG_1745.jpg
    did I overwrite older photos?

  • Iphoto can't import .CR2 shot with manual lenses on intel imac

I'm shooting with a Peleng 8mm on my Canon REBEL Xt, it is a manual lens and my problem is that all the pictures shot with regular EF lenses can be imported in iPhoto, but the ones shot with the Peleng freeze the import process. I got this problem on 2 different intel iMacs, never on the PPC ones. and only with CR2 (raw) pics. JPEGs are imported, whatever the lens I shot with.
My idea is that manual lenses do not feed information to the camera. (regular EF lenses inform the camera of their aperture and approx. focus distance). Consequently, the EXIF in the CR2 file has no values for the aperture and focus distance. I think the problem comes from that, but I was wondering if nobody knows a workaround. I did file bug reports, twice.
if someone want to give it a try :

CAUTION: when you try to import the above file, iphoto hangs, you have to force-quit it and delete the contents of the "Import" folder in the iPhoto Library. Only for the strong.

Try converting the files to DNG and import that format. It should work.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Uploading pictures onto calendar at a defined dat

how would i upload a picture onto the calendar at a specific date.
ex birthday and the actual picture of the person

PSA SE has a Calendar View. The pictures shot at a particular date are shown associated with that date in the Calendar View. When the pictures are imported into SE they automatically get associated with the date in Calendar and are shown in the Calendar View.
If you have a picture of a person shot on his Bday, it will be shown in the Calendar view against that date.Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Bridge - White balance metadata

When I browse raw files from my Canon EOS Rebel XT/350D in Adobe Bridge I always look at the Metadata tab to check for the f-stop value, speed, white balance settings, etc. of the currently-selected raw image file.
I noticed that the pictures shot in Automatic White Balance appear on the upper-left portion of the Metadata tab as an icon indicating AWB. However, whenever I take pictures with manually-set white balances, such as shade, day light, tungsten, etc., the metadata tab no longer indicates the white balance I chose, instead, it either shows an icon of a camera or two dashes, as in --.
Is there any way I can set Adobe Bridge to show the appropriate White Balance icon for pictures I take with manually-set white balances?

    Hi Curt,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, White Balance is checked in preferences/metadata. All of the Exposure metadata entries are also checked.
I forgot to mention that my version of Camera Raw is 4.5 (the latest).
You know, although White Balance is checked, I cannot find a White Balance text entry on any of the metadata lists (File properties, IPTC core, Camera Data (EXIF), etc.). The only place where I can see the White Balance setting in on the upper left corner of the Metadata tab, under the f-stop value.
Here is a personal question for you: When you browse your pictures in Adobe Bridge and you select one that was taken with a specific White Balance (not Auto), does your Adobe Bridge display an icon for that particular White Balance setting? I just want to eliminate the possibility that this happening only in my computer.
Thanks a lot for your time and attention.

  • Not able to open Canon 6D raw files in PS CS5.1 Extended Version 64 Bit

Hey there. I'm using Photoshop CS5.1 Extended Version 64 Bit. I want to work with raw pictures, shot on a Canon 6D. I have to install the camera raw plug in. But It doesn't work. Could somebody help me please? It's very important too know it soon.

    Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7.1 Update

    Hi R.reiffer,
Cannon 6D requires a minimum of ACR 7.3. If you are using Photoshop CS5.1 i would advice you to use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the images and then use it in Photoshop.
Use the below link to download the DNG converter.

  • Black Bars With 16/9 JPEG's and AVCHD in Video

I have Final Cut Express 4.0.1 and trying to use AVCHD video from my Sony NEX-5C camera along with JPEG pictures shot in 16/9 from the same camera. After importing everything I wound up with black bars above and belowin the viewer on everything and can't rid of them. I made a test video with one16/9 still picture and tried various settings before importing the picture, but still couldn't get rid of the bars. Also, I can't find a combination of exportsettings that eliminate the problem. I have tried exporting to a standard DVDusing Apple's "16:9 workflow for IDVD".
Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Thanks for prompt reply. I use FCE occasionally, so I am not 100% sure that I am answering your questions properly.
I checked the properties on one of the JPEG's and don't see "Format" listed. However, it is shown as 2390 x 1369 and the Pixel Aspect is "Square".
One of the video clips is shown as 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97fps. Pixel Aspect is "Square" and the Compressor is" Apple Intermediate Codec".
The Sequence shows 720 x 480 Frame Size @ 29.97fps; Compressor is DV/DVCPRO-NTSC and the Pixel Aspect is NTSC-CCIR 601.
The Sequence Aspect Ratio is wrong, but I don't know how to change it.
    Thanks,
    Brian
PS: I checked the Sequence Preset and it is now on Apple Intermediate Codec 1920 x 1080/60.

  • Nikon Shooting Data & Caption Field in Lightroom

I have a Nikon D100 Camera and am still using Nikon View 6.0.0.  I have thousands of pictures shot with this camera.  I have always filled out certain fields in Nikon View's IPTC.  I did misinterpret a Nikon Transfer Option long ago.  ("Nikon Transfer" is for transferring the digital photos from camera to computer.  The term "Shooting Data is their term for EXIF data, I guess.  Like Shutterspeed, Focal Length etc...)  I mistakenly checked the box that said, 'Copy Shooting Data to the IPTC Caption field.  At the time I didn't quite understand this and thought it meant if you checked this box you would have all the Shooting Data Available to be read by other programs in the future.  (The only way it would be available.) I don't think this is the case now because I transferred a new photo to my computer without this box being checked and I still got all the Shooting Data in Nikon View's window, I just didn't get it in the IPTC box.  The Shooting EXIF Data is still inside the photo's file (or in a sidecar). without it turning up in the IPTC box. Yes?
I've downloaded a tiny free program, for now, that that reads and displays digital photo metadata.  Everything works fine.  My keywords come through in the program's keyword field and my file names.   The only thing is that when I call up the Caption field in this little program it first brings up the text that I originally entered in Nikon Views IPTC, like it should.  But then directly after that I get[#Beginning of Shooting Data Section]ONikon D100OFocal Length:.......ect. ect...listing all of the shooting data, then[#End of Shooting Data Section].  All of this is listed after my caption text!  I just wanted what I entered in the IPTC as a caption!  Not the shooting data!
All of the Shooting Data is fused with the Caption that I originally entered in the IPTC!   Because
I originally checked that Transfer Options Box.  I've asked another person if you could somehow separate the Caption from the Shooting Data by computer language?  He didn't know as yet.  He said, "Try and separate it in Nikon View."  I did.
My questions are:  I have some thousands of photos now with all the Shooting Data as part of the Caption.  When I import these photos into Lightroom and Lightroom's  Metadata Panel automatically fills in with the photos metadata information, will the Caption field be the Caption and Shooting Data together?  Will my EXIF Shooting Data turn up under the right EXIF field in Lightroom's Metadata Panel?  Should I not use the Lightroom IPTC Metadata Panel and use another?  If the Shooting Data is still part of the Caption in Lightroom, because there is so much of it, will it just run out of space and run out the end of the box?  Is there a way to separate my  Caption from the Shooting Data so Lightroom will not include the Shooting Data in Lightroom's Metadata Panel under Caption?  I have been studying from a Lightroom 2 book.  I am not acquainted with Lightroom 4.  But I will be buying Lightroom 4.
Thank You so much for any information on this,
    Thank You
    Sandy

    Sandy,
I suspect that you'll have the same problems in Lightroom. It sounds like Nikon View has put that shooting data where you don't want it.
In any case, you can download a 30-day free trial of LR 4.1 and import a few of the problematic images and see how their metadata looks in Lightroom. It won't cost you anything, not even time if you decide to buy. And if you do buy the program, you can just enter the serial number in the trial version, and it will no longer expire.

  • Previews don't display

Aperture 3.2.2, MacBook Pro, 8 Gb ram. I keep my CR2 (Canon 60D) RAW photos in Aperture on an external usb 2 drive so my wife can view them from her "user" side of our computer. We are both "admin" users. I know the library can't be shared, so I turn Aperture off on my side before she logs into her user side to see the pics, and vice versa. Yesterday I uploaded some pics to Aperture from my user side and they all appeared as expected in the library. All thumbnails, and full size pics show up fine. When I turn Aperture off on my side, and login to my wife's user side to view the pics the thumbnails don't display in the browser. The pictures are represented by empty placeholders. If I double click on an empty (thumbnail) placeholder, the picture opens and can be seen and edited as usual. Upon closing the image, the thumbnails still don't show.
When I upload images from my wife's user side, everything shows up fine on her side, as expected, thumbnails and all. But when I switch to my side, the thumbnails don't display, but double clicking on the empty thumbnail placeholder opens the image for viewing or editing. The problem files are all from a single day/event. Pictures shot on later date, but on the same SD card upload and display correctly on both user's sides.
I have over 5,000 pictures in Aperture, and this is the first time this has happened, all the other pics show up fine as thumbnails on both user's sides.
    Any ideas about this?
    Peter

    >Sorry, but that is plain BS
Let's try to be a bit less flamey, shall we?
    >For starters, in order to use the laptop's keyboard, the external monitor has to be way too high, or the laptop/keyboard way too low, since the darned laptop screen gets in the way.
True, but when using an external monitor (in the office) I also have my external keyboard and mouse. The laptop is on the left and behind, sitting on a riser so the bottoms of both screens are at the same level. External display is on the right. Both angled slightly inward towards me. The laptop overhangs the front of the riser (and the external keyboard) so the display is not too far away.
    >Secondly, your scheme underscores the futility of using a laptop and takes away any portability advantage you may have had.
I don't see that. The screen IS profiled, just not as well as the external screen. It's plenty adequate for sorting/filtering shoots and preliminary editing, with more serious color correction, output sharpening, et. handled when back at the office.
    >Third, you won't be generating much income doing photography or Photoshop work on a lousy laptop screen "in the islands", or at least not for long. You may have earned your vacation, but the laptop sure isn't going to "pay for it". You may permanently lose some clients instead.
I'll have to tell my clients that one. I'm sure they'll find it worth a chuckle. True the last trip was mostly spent coding and working in Flash, and the more critical Photoshop work I did needed a modest tweak once I got back to the good monitor, but it was pretty close and easy to fix. Technically I suppose working on a trip doesn't mean the trip is paying for itself, but rather than bleeding twice (traveling AND not working for a week) I'm only bleeding once. And I happen to enjoy work, so it's not a vacation killer.
    > I stand by my fundamental aversion to laptops.
And I by my attraction to them.

  • WARNING: EyeTV Nuked My Built-In iSight

Ye EyeTV runners probably already know this, but I just want to let everyone know that a known issue with the current version of Elgato System's EyeTV software is that it nukes both (a) the resolution of video/pictures shot with your built-in iSight, and (b) the effects in PhotoBooth.
The company says the new version (currently in beta) doesn't have this problem, but for TV-watching purposes, that product has issues of its own.
    Just so you're forewarned.

    Hello Christopher Schuller,
Welcome to Apple Discussions! And thanks for the heads-up.
If you could post any hardware or software that you run on your Mac that may affect the problem and exactly what ElGato said or a link to the issue on their site would be helpful.
I've never heard of this before and appreciate the post. Anyone else w/EyeTV experience problems?
    Respectfully,
    Bill Gallagher

  • Date filter not reading dates correctly

I've noticed that since Bridge CS5 came out, the filter on date is not working correctly. For example,I'm looking at a series of images that I captured today (Sept 7th), and the date shown in the metadata panel of Bridge ays "Today". Yet, the Filter pane shows only "yesterday", not "today" as an option. When I click on "yesterday", Bridge displays the files that I took today! (And for the record, I'm using Bridge on Sept 7th, at 6 PM Pacific time when I'm posting this.)

Sorry, hope you can read the details...
Thanks, screenshot is clear, I see it but can't believe my eyes I'm
    afraid....
Tried to reproduce it on my system but can't achieve this, pictures shot at
same day as 'today' give today in the filter panel and yesterday also
    correctly filtered.
You have of course already checked the date and time of your camera?
But that should reflect also the data in the EXIF shown under file
    properties in the Metadata section.
Assuming you have already tried to reset the Bridge Preferences (holding
down option key while restarting Bridge) you could also repeat this after
having manual deleted the AdobeBridge4.plist file from the preference folder
    in the User library.
If still no luck, a way to narrow the possibilities down is if you have CS4
still installed you could try it in Bridge CS4 with the same files.
If it shows correct in CS4 it might be related to your CS5 install  or to
NEF from D200 and Bridge CS5.
If it shows also incorrect in CS4 it might be related with your User account
    or OSX.

  • Import speed is UNBELIEVABLY slow!

I have converted to LR5 as part of the creative cloud because Apple has chosen to abandon its professional level cataloging and editing software. No big deal, I was planning on moving to LR anyway because of its powerful tools, integration and workflow. So, I have been moving the projects I have from the Aperture library slowly but surely to my LR catalogue. I have also been importing all of my new shoots directly into LR. Last night when I tried to import 177 pictures, about 4GB, it just hung! All the previews popped up like normal and the slow down started when I clicked import. I waited about 1 hour and only 5 pictures were copied and added to the catalogue. I have never had to wait this long so I started trouble shooting. I canceled the import and thought maybe it is the card or the card reader. Closed LR and rebooted the MAC. Once I had restarted the computer I thought that maybe the card was going bad even though it is only 2 months old and about 4000 pictures shot on it. BTW I format the card after each copy and import. So I copied the card directly through the finder and the reader and card only took about 5 min to copy 4GB. I copied to both the SSD and an external HD backup which is part of my workflow. I then tried to copy and catalogue the card again. Also I tried directly from the Drives.  NO DICE! By this time it was late. I was curious how long it would take, so started the import and went to bed. Much to my surprise 8 hours later only 70 pictures, about 1.5Gb of data transferred. Help! I really love this software. Finally none of my setting have changed. Still building minimal previews and no added presets or additional corrections upon import.
    Thank you in advance.

Last, do you possibly have Lightroom set to generate 1:1 or smart previews? That might cause it to be working really hard for hours after a very large import.
Here's what the OP said, "It did finally copy all files but took 24 hours to do 4gb about 180 pics." Some simple math (24 hrs x 60) ÷ 180 pics = 8.0 Minutes per picture to import and build the 1:1 preview.
4GB ÷ 180 pics = 22.2MB file size should take no longer than 2.0 sec. to write to HDD and perhaps 10-20 seconds to build the 1:1 preview with a slow CPU.
    (2.0+20 sec) x 180 pics = 66 minutes Total
Along with CPU spec on your system please provide memory amount (4GB, 8GB), OS you are running and if it is 32 bit or 64 bit.
