32L2400U LED TV. When using as PC monitor, it crops image output by around 1 inch all sides

I have tried all the menu settings I can think of.  I have other LED/LCD TVs that do not have this issue.
Are any other uses of the 32 inch model having this issue regarding 1080p output from an Nvidia video card?

The problem is on the computer side and not the TV.
What operating system do you use? Do you have 1080 output from the source?

I am trying to crop faces from old family group photos and paste them on to records in Family Tree Maker. When I do this, the pasted cropped image reverts to the original of the entire family. Is there a way of unlinking the original version from the cropped image?

Are you copying the cropped images directly from Aperture's Browser window and then pasting into your family tree?
It would be safer to export the cropped faces as new image files to a folder on your disk, and then drag them from there to the "Family Tree" window.
To export select the cropped image versions in Aperture's browser and use the command "File > Export > Version". Select a suitable export preset from the pop-up menu, for example "Jpeg fit into ..." and select a folder to export to.

  • Often lose wireless connection when using HDTV as monitor

I have an unusual wireless networking problem when using my Samsung HDTV in my living room as a monitor for my MacBook (when watching Internet TV shows, for example). Frequently when I switch URLs, networking freezes, even though the connection appears strong, with the Airport symbol at the top of my screen showing all bars. To re-establish the wireless connection, I have to go through the process of re-joining my network through the “Join Other Network" option. The signal holds as long as I don’t try to change it, as in selecting another URL.
I connect to my HDTV via HDMI cable, using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter from my Macbook’s video-out port. The audio connection is a mini-plug from the Mac’s headphone out jack to stereo RCA plugs associated with the TV’s HDMI port.
The wireless connection is through a Lynksys Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz, 54 Mpbs Broadband router.
I’d appreciate any solutions the Apple user community has to offer.

I'd say this has nothing to do with your display. The problem will likely lie in either your router settings, network settings or a simple signal strength issue. Try first changing the broadcast channel on your router, and make sure all settings are correct for your desired network.

  • MBA drops wifi when using an external monitor

My MBA 1.6 GHz has an issue when using only an external monitor. That is when re-awoken after a sleep, with the portable's monitor closed and using both an Apple external keyboard and mouse, my wifi connection to my time capsule drops. It does this consistently and I suspect a hardware issue as the same thing happened under leopard.
Is anyone experiencing this issue? Does anyone know of a test I could preform to establish what is failing? Does this require a hardware repair? Any help with this would be appreciated!

I am having an identical problem with my Mac Air.
It seems we aren't alone either: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1401466&tstart=60. Seems to be some sort of interference issue.

  • Airport doesn't work when using a second monitor

My macbook pro, purchased mid-June, is exhibiting an odd problem. When nothing is plugged into the mini-displayport, everything is fine. If I plug my external monitor in, and the display is being mirrored, whether the lid is open or not, once again, everything works perfectly. Once I switch into extended display mode however, my wireless connection drops after a few minutes and refuses to reconnect.
It is definitely not a signal issue. The second I unplug the monitor, my wireless connection returns to normal even if I don't move the computer an inch.

    Hello,
I have the exact same issue: whenever I am using my external display, my wireless connection with airport immediately stops. Same June 2009 macbook pro for me as well.
If I go down to the lowest resolution (640x480), I can get it to connect. The moment I unplug the external display, the wireless connection with airport is re-established.
This problem has been reported on the apple discussions forums by a few people. Someone mentioned that it could be electrical cross-talk between the graphics card and wireless card internally, one causing noise for the other.
Anyone have a solution? Or have the same problem?

    HELP!

  • My macbook has problems streaming video when using an external monitor

I have a MacBook from 2007.  I have a converter so that the MacBook can be connected to an external monitor, and have connected it to my TV.  This works fine, but if I am streaming videos and trying to watch on the TV, the streaming becomes very choppy, almost like the wireless connection is too slow.  If I unplug the computer from the TV, however, the streaming returns to normal.  I previously connected to a TV with an S-video connection and the problem did not seem as prominent.  Now I am connecting to a HD tv using an HDMI connection.
Any suggestions for how to alleviate this?  I haven't updated or upgraded the memory or RAM, possibly that would help?  Would the amount of files I am storing be causing the problem?  I currently have 50 GB available.
    Thanks for any help!
    Conor

Make sure your Mac is set to a resolution and frequency that your monitor supports.
The other possibility is that your graphics card is fried, but that seems unlikely since your computer is new. Before too long, you should make sure your graphics card is OK using the Apple Hardware Test, but I'm not sure how reliable that is because it claims that my partially broken graphics card is OK.

  • AIF Automatic Reprocessing when using AIF as Monitoring Tool for ordinary Idocs

    Hi,
we are using AIF in different ways as we introduced AIF after having a set of IDocs already set up in the traditional way. All new processes are set up in a way that AIF is responsible for the mapping and the following actions. But for the most older IDocs AIF is only used as a monitioring tool.
We are also using the reprocessing facilities of the AIF working fine for the new designed processes. We set up also some reprossessing processes for the "old" IDocs and find out, that some of them are not working becausse of the "COMMIT WORK" within the function calls. So we get a dump saying that we are "POSTING_ILLEGAL_STATEMENT".
Is there a way to solve the problem without redesigning the process (the SAP-Standard-FM L_IDOC_INPUT_WMMBXY is used in our special situation)?
    best regards
    Ignaz

I have a similar thing happening here, but on my aging iMac8,1 (3.06, 6 gigs of ram, plenty of internal and external scratch space) No wacom here, a Logitech mouse though, running via USB overdrive.
With me it's undos that are typically causing the hang, and as such, I notice it happening and don't keep clicking around. It hangs for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes or so and then I can continue working.  Once, it was happening on a document I had open for a while, once it was occurring on a file I opened, made an errant click, and hit undo.  This was a 46.6 MB CMYK tif. I also had it occur while drawing a simple selection with the polygonal lasso - each time it would hang on the third click.  That time, it would unhang, but then the selection would be all messed up and not display what was being selected.
Each time it happens, I see photoshop pinned at 99-100% in iStat.  Doesn't seem to be related to running out of memory, as there is usually a good amount free when it's happening.  I tried using the internal drive as the swap, and that didn't seem to matter.
I've been forced to go back to CS5 for the time being, but would love to see this solved.  Is there any further info I could provide?

  • Dock doesn't realign when using an external monitor (an HDTV in this case)

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I've run into a new problem.
I hook my MacBook Pro 2.2 up to a 32" Vizio HDTV often. I keep the MBP in sleep mode until I plug my DVI->HDMI cable into it. I wake it with my Logitech M555b bluetooth mouse. Normally everything kicked in fine, under Leopard. Now, under Snow Leopard, my dock does not line up right. I have it positioned to the left side, and when first displayed on the TV, the bottom portion of it is not shown. I have to move the dock to the right or bottom for it to completely re-appear, then I can move it back to the left, where I prefer it.

    Version 18.0.2

Try to disable the automatic restart to make it easier to check the cause or open the event viewer to check this.
*Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings : untick "Automatically restart"
*Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Is there any way to avoid a huge memory spike when using CGContextDrawImage for a high resolution image?

    Hi,
I'm trying to fix the orientation of an UIImage in my app (iPad 2, iOS 7). I'm using the method described here: https://gist.github.com/alex-cellcity/1531596, but a huge memory spike appears when CGContextDrawImage is called. The image size I'm trying to fix is 2848x4288.
Anybody knows any algorithm to avoid this huge spike?
    Thanks,
    Roberto.

While I never done iOS code it appears that the code you link to basically does the following:
    takes a large image A
generates a transformation matrix by doing rotation in 90 degree increments and by mirroring
    creates a large image B
draws image A into B using the transformation matrix
    releases memory for image A
    goes on using image B
This results in a memory peak as you have two large images in RAM, until image A gets deallocated, which can't be done until B has been drawn.
I can see two possible solutions to this, both which probably require you to explicitly modify individual pixels:
    1) Try to simplify the solution - if 180 degree rotation and mirroring is enough to solve your image issues, then a simple in-place (same bitmap) pixel swap could be done.
    2) Find more memory -  if you need 90, 270 or arbitrary degrees of rotation as well, you could instead keep either image A or B on disc.
Keep image A on disc: read pixels from disc and place appropriately in image B. This may require you to first load image A and write it back to disc as ARGB data (one byte for each color) for easy access.
Keep image B on disc: get pixel from image A and place it at the right location in image (file) B - this will require pre-creating a file of the correct size for Bs ARGB data and then moving the insertion point for writing around. When done dealloc image A and load image B.
Keep image A and B on disc: combine using disc for image A and B - this will minimize RAM usage but will probably be the slowest solution and will increases disc (SSD/flash) load and wear.

  • When using the refine edge tool, my image is opposite....rather than the background being transparent...the "subject" is gone...do I have a  something set incorrectly?

I used the quick selection tool to outline, then refine edge....
my image does not shoe up in the refine edge window....it is a "mask"..
then when I output to "new layer  with layer mask"....my "subject" t is gone...back ground remains...

    Thanks for your prompt reply!
this is how the "finished" product looks...this is the image after I select "output to mask"..
    It seems "reversed"?
