3550-12T ACL OUT counters not incrementing.

We have several acl’s applied against various vlans on the 3550-12T switch IOS version c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-22.EA1a.bin. Noticed that if the ACL is applied IN on the interface that all hits are counted. It appears that only the denies are being counted on an ACL if it is applied OUT on the interface.
I am using the permit any any established command and would have expected to see massive counts on this line. When compared to the behavior on the 4507 ACL the established counter increments dramatically.
With out the hit counts it is hard to see what is being done and if an ACL entry is even required.
Any suggestions?

ACLs counters will not increment if the traffic is switched via hardware. The ACL counter will only be incrementing on software switched traffic, with matching ACL entries.

  • LLQ policy counters not incrementing

    I have created a LLQ policy on a 1721 running 12.2(4)YH2 but the counters do not incrementing. I disabled fast-swithcing and the counters increment. Is this correct and is LLQ being used even though the counters do not show the packets being matched? I have a 3620 running CEF and the LLQ counters do increment, the 1721 does not support CEF (I am running IP only, not sure whether I need IP Plus to use CEF. Any thoughts?

    The Cisco IOS image which you are using, doesnt have the CEF Feature support on it. For a Cisco 1721, the IOS recommended for the features relating to CEF are:
    12.2(13)T or 12.2(13)T1. Following CEF Features are available in it:
    * CEF on Multipoint GRE Tunnels
    * CEF/dCEF - Cisco Express Forwarding
    * CEFv6/dCEFv6 - Cisco Express Forwarding
    So, an IOS upgrade to your router should help you solve the problem. You can verify the above recommened versions from the Software Advisor as given in the url below:

  • Write permissions issues / lots of "ACL found but not expected" errors / hardware failure? on brand new Mac Mini (still within warranty). OSX Mavericks 10.9.1.

    I was hoping that I could receive some feedback from you fine folks here
    My situation:
    I bought a 2012 Mac Mini 2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7 from the online Apple store. It came with Mavericks 10.9.1 pre-installed and was delivered two days ago (I know, the mini update is evident but I needed the machine).
    I noticed that I had to enter my password every time I created, moved or deleted a folder. I did not think much of it.
    I did, however, think much of not being able to install files from certain developers. I received the "The installer is damaged" notification as shown in this topic: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5541793
    This screenshot is someone elses, I tried to install audio software.
    Based on that error, I contacted the developer of the software. But then I noticed that I got the same error for other developers too.
    I tried the solution that the topic starter marked as solving his issue in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5541793. It involves booting in OSX Recovery (command+R) and excecuting the 'resetpassword' command. That did not work for me. It also looks like my password data isn't stored as I do not see the 'obfuscated' password dots that the screenshot shows in that topic, even when I entered and saved it multiple times -- but I'm not sure if that is part of the main issue (which I'm gettting to).
    I also made sure gatekeeper allows applications to be installed from unidentified developers, as shown here: http://www.instantteamspeak.com/static/en/img/mac-gatekeeper-anywhere.png That didn't help either.
    Next I opened up Disk Utility and ran a check on write permissions. That got me worried.
    The check ran for a long time, spitting out "ACL found but not expected" errors.
    I proceeded to restore write permissions. That took 20-25 minutes.
    Once it finished I checked write permissions again. An equal amount of permissions needed to be restored! It's as if Mavericks didn't remember anything it did.
    The good news is that I could now install the files I previously couldn't, but the fact that I've restored write permissions three times now, and each time it seems as if nothing of that is remembered, has gotten me worried.
    I've made a video with some explanation here http://youtu.be/a0hKQvy-Km8 - my sincerest apologies for the shaky camera.
    I then checked the hard disk and the partition above it. The Macintosh HD gave me the green 'ok' light, but something weird happened when I checked the partition on the level above it. It will take ages to finish and I see Disk Utility doing some strange 'jumping around': http://youtu.be/hyLAEhLRnKc (warning - long video so you might want to skip through it. The point is to demonstrate how long it takes).
    When I checked the hard disk for a second and third time, I got 'everything ok' results pretty quickly.
    Checking both the HD and the partition above it again, this is what happens (and what now worries me the most): http://youtu.be/4l2Fb2RvOW4
    Edit: I sum up my findings at the end of the video, might be better to skip here and then watch the full thing only if it's not clear yet.
    There is some further explanation in the video. It basically comes down to Disk Utility not finishing/not providing any conslusion, while Activity Monitor shows it's not doing anything -- please bare with me when watching the video, I know it's not the most exhiting video ever posted on YouTube but it does bring my point across (there is some more talk in this one; not sure if that's an improvement in terms of entertainment value though ).
    ** Is my hard disk failing? In that case I'll return the Mac immediately.
    ** Or just a software issue?
    As said, this Mac Mini is brand new. If at some stage anyone would feel the wise thing to do is to return my Mac, please do let me know. There is a 14 day return policy in The Netherlands (on top of other warranties) and I'd rather return it in case of doubt, than end up with technical issues with this machine once I've started working with it. I'm ok with doing some troubleshooting if the machine is fine, but I'd rather not take a gamble with a 1200 € machine under warranty.
    Thank you so much in advance - your help is highly appreciated.

  • "ACL found but not recognized on..."

    I have seen several posts on this that say to ignore these entries in Disk Utility, but in my case, I get over 12,000 of these every time I run Disk Utility - so it takes forever to run!
    It appears that all of my ACL problems are in the "Applications" folder. Is there not something I can do to fix this?
    I was not getting any of these messages when I first upgraded to 10.5.1, but I was registered as User ID 502 instead of 501. So after upgrading to 10.5.2, I did a new Archive and Install and I am now listed as User ID 501, but now I get all these ACL reports? Not sure if the two are connected?

    I don't know what happened, but the only thing inside the Applications folder that ought to have an ACL is the Utilities sub-folder (this is to keep people from throwing it away). Also, the third party items would likely show as belonging to whoever installed them, would not have an entry in the database that Disk Utility consults, and so even if they do have ACLs clapped on them you would not find out using Disk Utility. You can try to fix it (although my guess is some previous attempt on your part to fix something caused this), or just stop running the Permission Repair thing. As long as everything is working fine I would recommend that.

  • ACL found but not expected on . . . applications

    Like others who've posted here, I stupidly did an "apply to enclosed items" when trying to fix a permission problem on a non-Apple application. I should have targeted my repair to that one application, but assumed there were more permission problems among Applications. (After moving a user to this new computer, I'd been dealing with quite a few permissions issues, but mostly on her work files, so I was a little distracted.) I realize the long list of "ACL found but not expected" messages when doing a "repair permissions" are not really a problem, but I'd like to get them fixed - get rid of the clutter. (If there was a real permission issue, it would be difficult to see among the clutter.)
    Anyway, I've read (from V.K.) to do the following: In terminal, enter:
    sudo chmod -RN /Applications
    sudo chmod +a "everyone deny delete" /Applications /Applications/Utilities
    then: "next delete everything in Applications except for Timemachine.app and the Utilities folder. next restore all that stuff from Time machine. next delete all contents of the Utilities folder and then restore it from TM. repair permissions afterward. that should fix all permissions back to what they were."
    Problem is, I don't have these applications backed up in Time Machine. (I back up five computers to a tape drive through Retrospect, and only back up our work and certain other specific "user created" files. In case of a total crash, I figure I'd generally rather "start fresh" with whatever OS a new computer would come with.)
    So, would it work to do the Terminal thing first, then reinstall the applications from the OS DVD via Pacifist? I guess any applications that have updated since the OS DVD would then be updated via Software Update?
    Any other ideas? (Kappy mentioned entering "sudo chown -R root:admin /Applications" in Terminal, and nothing about having to restore
    applications.)
    Other than this annoyance, the computer is working fine.
    Thanks,
    Ginny

  • Time Machine making full backups--not incremental

    Hi,
    I just installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro a couple of days ago, and have been using Time Machine to make backups (never used it before now). I have TimeMachineEditor installed, and have it set to make a backup daily at 3:30am. It backs up data from my 500GB main hard drive to another internal 500GB hard drive.
    The first backup went without a hitch, and did a full backup as expected (everything). But the second, third, and fourth backups all were full backups as well....not incremental as they should've been. The fourth one was actually a manual backup I did to test it...I chose "Back Up Now" to see if it did full or incremental. It did a full backup.
    So, after four backups, each a little over 100GB, I'm already running out of space Has anyone else run into this behaviour? Is this a consequence of TimeMachineEditor having screwed it up somehow? Even if it has, shouldn't a manual backup still do an incremental backup?
    Very strange....

    lol...well, seeing as how you'll clearly be here a while then... ...perhaps I can prevail upon you to answer one last question that just occurred to me.
    Let's say I have tons of TM snapshots on my backup drive, and at some point I want to delete a few to clear some space. I know TM automatically goes after the earliest ones when the drive fills up,
    You should know that TM also constantly thins recent backups. It keeps hourly backups for 24 hours and then deletes all but one for every day; it keeps daily backups for 30 days and then deletes all but one for every week. it keeps all weekly backups till the TM drive gets full at which point it starts deleting the oldest ones.
    but let's say I manually want to delete a few snapshots that contain, say, a massive cache file or something totally useless to keep around, which I could afford to delete and would gain me a lot more drive space.
    When I go into the TM interface to do the removal, how can I figure out which snapshots to get rid of? How would you do it?
    TM offers two options. you can delete an entire backup corresponding to a time point or it can delete all backups of a given file/folder. to do that enter TM and scroll back in time to some time point. select something and click on the "gears" action button in Finder toolbar. you'll see options "delete backup" (deletes the entire backup for that time point), and 'delete all backups of this item". deletes all backups of the selected item from all time points. I use the latter sometimes to get rid of backups of very large files.

  • Policy-routing on 3550 12T

    IOS used: c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-22.EA3.bin
    I try to policy-route packets coming from a certain source (160.160.160.0/24)to a next-hop ip address:
    route-map from_server permit 10
    match ip address 160
    set ip next-hop 192.168.1.1
    access-list 160 permit ip 160.160.160.0 0.0.0.255 any
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    ip policy route-map from_server
    The next-hop IP is in the routing table, nevertheless the packets matched with ACL 160 are not policy-routed.
    What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot
    Florian

    You probably need to do this to get PBR to work:
    You must modify the SDM template to enable the switch to support the 144-bit Layer 3 TCAM. Use
    the sdm prefer extended-match, sdm prefer access extended-match, or the sdm prefer routing
    extended-match global configuration commands to reformat the TCAM space allocated to unicast
    routing in the default, access, or routing template, respectively. Reformatting the unicast routing
    TCAM reduces by half the number of supported unicast routes in the template.
    This is from the configuration guide for the 3550.

  • Replacement for 3550 12T

    Our 'backbone' switch is an older 3550 12T.  Our network has just under 100 users with fairly light traffic.  I'm looking to replace this older switch but am not that familiar with Cisco's whole product line.  Recommendations?

    Lots of choices, 3560, 3750, 3850

  • Cisco 3550-12T IP address

    Can i set IP address in Cisco 3550-12T in any one of the Gigabit Interface, being a layer 3 switch, it is possible, but when i entered the “ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252” in “gigabitEthernet 0/1” i get a message “IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links” why is that so? I enabled IP Routing & tried without enabling also, but still i get the same message. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Anand,
    Though it is a layer 3 switch but default behaviour of ports are layer 2.
    To make it layer 3 you have to first give "no switchport" command.
    int gig0/1
    no switchport
    ip address

  • Please help with ACL "found but not expected," permissions, (and yes I've read /kb/TS1448)

    Hi, I am getting this report from Disk Utility when I repair permissions.
    They keep coming up even if I run repair permissions multiple times.
    Repairing permissions for “SSD ML Clone 928”
    ACL found but not expected on “private/var/root/Library”
    Repaired “private/var/root/Library”
    ACL found but not expected on “private/var/root/Library/Preferences”
    Repaired “private/var/root/Library/Preferences”
    Permissions repair complete
    And, yes I have read Apples Support Page,
    "Mac OS X: Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages that you can safely ignore,"
    at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
    And, these particular ACL's are not listed on that page, as being ones that can be safely ignored.
    Can anyone tell me for certain if this is anything I should be worried about, (or not), and if it's a problem, what I can do about it?
    Thanks in advance!

    OK, I resorted to running ACLr8 1.3
    I had found a post about running some terminal commands first, and then restarting in recovery mode, and repairing acl's. It was bit complex.
    This app, ACLr8, runs it all in terminal, and without a reboot.
    Disk Utility immediately gave a clean report!
    ACLr8, had been updated for Lion, but hadn't been for ML.
    So although I had some trepidation about running it, my understanding is ML is more of an upgraded Lion than a new OS, so I felt safe taking the risk.
    And it paid off!
    I suppose it didn't actually fix anything, but hey, out of sight, out of mind!
    And therefore, peace of mind.

  • Cisco Catalyst 3550-12T

    hi,
    internal AC power supply of cisco Catalyst 3550-12T has been failed and rps led blinking.we want to replace this internal power supply.What is the part number of it? and is there any document or web site to learn part numbers of cisco devices..Thks.

    I don't think you can replace the power supply in 3550 switch. It is on the motherboard. You may need to replace the whole switch. Check out the link below

  • Counter not incrementing

    Here is the code from one of my classes, these methods are used when a button is cliked in another class.
    My problem is that the counter for rate is not incrementing for some reason.
    Can anyone see a reason from the code why?
    public class AccountModel
        private Account c, d;
        private int counter=0;
        public AccountModel()
            c = new Account();
            d = new Account();
        public AccountModel(String Name1, int intialAge1, String Name2, int intialAge2)
            c = new Account();
            c.setName(Name1);
            c.setInitialAge(intialAge1);
            d = new Account();
            c.setName(Name2);
            c.setInitialAge(intialAge2);
        public void saveData(int option, String newName, double newDeposit, int newInitialAge,
                             double newRate)
                if (option==1)
                    setData(c,newName,newDeposit,newInitialAge,newRate);
                else if (option==2)
                    setData(d,newName,newDeposit,newInitialAge,newRate);
        public void setData(Account a, String name, double deposit, int initialAge, double rate)
                    a.setName(name);
                    a.setDeposit(deposit);
                    a.setInitialAge(initialAge);
                    a.setRate(rate);
        public String showData(int option)
            String display = "";  //display string to return
            Account acc;    //local account variable
            if(option==1)   acc=c;  //choose which account
            else acc=d;
            //build string
            display += "Name: " + acc.getName() + "\n";
            display += "Initial Age: " + acc.getInitialAge() + "\n";
            display += "Actual Age: " + acc.getActualAge() + "\n";
            display += "Total Balance: " + acc.getBalance() + "\n";

            display += "Total Withdrawals: " + acc.getTotalWithdrawal() + "\n";
            display += "Interest Rate: " + acc.getRate() + "\n";
            return display;
        public double getBalance(int option)
            Account acc;
            if(option==1) acc=c;
            else acc=d;
            double balance = acc.getBalance();
            double deposit = acc.getDeposit();
            double rate = acc.getRate();
            for (int i = 0; i < acc.getYears(); i++)
                balance = (balance + deposit*12) * (1 + rate/100);
                if (counter % 10==0)
                    rate = rate + 0.01;
                counter++;
            acc.setBalance(balance);
            return balance;
        public double keepDepositing(int option, int continuedYears)
            Account acc;
            if(option==1) acc=c;
            else acc=d;
            double balance = acc.getBalance();
            double deposit = acc.getDeposit();
            double rate = acc.getRate();
            for (int i = 0; i < continuedYears; i++)
                    balance = (balance + deposit*12) * (1 + rate/100);
                    if (counter % 10==0)
                        rate = rate + 0.01;
                    counter++;
            acc.setBalance(balance);
            return balance;
        public double startWithdrawing(int option, double withdrawals, int withdrawalYears)
            counter=0;
            Account acc;
            if(option==1) acc=c;
            else acc=d;
            double balance = acc.getBalance();
            double rate = acc.getRate();
            for (int i = 0; i < withdrawalYears; i++)
                    balance = (balance - withdrawals*12)*(1 + rate/100);
            acc.setBalance(balance);
            return balance;
            }

    rate is a local variable in all your class methods. When you leave the method the value goes out of scope.
    You don't post your Account class, so I can't tell if it has a rate data member.
    If you want it to persist after you've left those methods, make it a data member in the AccountModel class.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected

    My Macbook Pro (Early 2011) DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected. If get the blue screen and then can use the macbook but nothing is displayed on the TV. If i go into display I can see that there are two screens but nothing displayed on the TV. If i take the power cable out at this point the TV shows the second desktop as expected. If i then reconnect the cable, the screen flickers, as though it is being affected by the power cable, and the screen goes blank on the TV. Only if i remove the DVI cable do i get the blue screen again. If i remove the power cable and reconnect it will do it every single time, so i cannot see it being a TV issue or a minor glitch.
    I have had this working previously but at the minute it seems to not be playing ball....any thoughts
    Thanks

  • Satellite 1800-100: video-out does not work

    He,
    I just installed windows XP on my old Satellite 1800-100, but now my video-out does not work anymore. So I just downloaded the latest driver, but there's no way I can get it installed. According to Windows the new driver isn't newer, so it won't let me update it. And when i try to unistall the display driver, I have to reboot before it takes effect, and wile rebooting it automaticly installs the standard driver again.
    Can anybody help me?
    Greets,
    Daan

    Hi
    Do you mean TV- out port or monitor port? As far as I know this unit is preinstalled with WXP Home and all drivers can be also used for WXP Pro.
    Did you preinstall your own OS (non recovery image)?

    Help, I can't sync any music to my iPhone 5s or iPad 2 ! it says it's finished sync but the music is greyed out and not on my devices.. I've tried unchecking the music and doing it manually. Nothing works. I took it to Apple store Robina no help..

    So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
    So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
    Hope this makes sense and is helpful.
