3550 Management VLAN Question

I have a 24 port fiber 3550 attached to a 12 port copper 2950 via trunked gigastack interfaces. My router attaches to an interface on the 2950 that is a member of VLAN 40, my management VLAN. Both the 2950 and the 3550 have IP addresses associated with VLAN 40. My problem is that no switchports on the 3550 are members of VLAN 40 which is keeping the interface associated with VLAN 40 as "down down" and I cannot communicate with it. I have tried "no keepalive" on interface VLAN 40 but the interface does not come up. Is there a command that can be entered to force the interface to come up even though there are no ports associated with it? Thanks.

Hi Efairbanks,
If you have a trunk port configured between 3550 and 2950 and vlan 40 is allowed on that trunk port int vlan 40 will be up and up.
Please check 2 things..
1) Vlan 40 is present in vlan database. Check with command "sh vlan"
2) If it is present in " sh vlan " output check your trunk config and make sure you allow vlan 40 on the trunk port.
There is no specific command which can bring int vlan 40 up and up. Eithere there should be a active port for vlan 40 or trunk shoule be configured allowing vlan 40 on it.

• Question in regard to management VLAN for each Context in ACE module

Dear Pros,
I know this will be a simple questions to answer, and I have searched the forum, but I am not able to find the answer I need.
1) Does the ACE module require an Management IP address for each Context? Should the same VLAN be applied to each context, with larger size subnet to supply host address?
2) If it does require that, what IP address should I used for default route in each context.
I will be utilizing "Bridge Mode" for my application to transition the current network from Foundry to ACE. I will later on apply the "Routed Mode" model.
Each ACE module will have 3 seperate Context, for a total of 4 including the Admin.
Any suggestions or if you can point me to location as always will be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks and best regards.

Hi,
you have several options to choose from.
1. Use Admin context for management
You can use the Admin context for management. Give it an IP address in your managment VLAN, default route to upstream router, and login and change to contexts from there.
+ Easy and straightforward
- snmp and syslog are using the ip from each individual context and not the management IP
2. Use a Large subnet and assign an IP address in each context for management.
You can configure 1 managment VLAN and assign an IP address to each context in this subnet. Create static routes to the management stations that need to access this management address.
+ each context has its own managment address
- static routes need to be added
3. Use your client-side ip address (or BVI) as management address.
You management traffic will be inline and use the same path as your data. Default route is already configured and also valid for the management.
+ no static routes needed
- inline management
Personally, I choose option 1. That is, if the people that need to manage the ACE is the same team.
If other teams (serverteam for context 1, other serverteam for context 2) need to manage the ACE, than I would choose option 3.

• Best Practices for management VLAN

Hi guys,
I have a client with a data center where they have lots of VLANs running off a 3750 (main switch) and then they have a 3550 and a 2950 running off from this main 3750.
They have lots of VLANs configured and I see that Vlan1 is not being used. Currently, all the IPs of the switches and routers belong to one of the customer Vlan's.
I've read that this is bad practice and that a management VLAN should be created. But I think I've also read that when it comes to management Vlans, one needs to stay away from Vlan1
So I am not sure how to tackle this.
any help?
thanks

• VWLC clients getting DHCP address from management VLAN

Hi,
We have a strange scenario whereby some wireless employees are obtaining addresses from the management VLAN.
Some details:
DHCP managed by MS DHCP 2008 R2 (in remote data centre)
Cisco vWLC AIR-CTVM-K9 running v7.6.110.0
AP's are a mix of 2602 and 3702 (46 and 2 of each respectively)
SSID's are employee, guest, and production devices (all mapped to their own interface with relevant VLAN tag as per normal)
AP's all in FlexConnect mode as per vWLC caveats
Some employees are receiving addresses in the wireless management VLAN. This network only has six DHCP addresses available as it is solely for AP's, WLC and HSRP gateway. Obviously this gets exhausted very quickly leaving us with a scenario where clients are not obtaining DHCP addresses.
I understand that with FlexConnect mode, it will assign IP's from the native VLAN. What I don't understand is why most clients receive addresses in the correct VLAN, but a handful do not, and then cannot get an address from DHCP. Obviously the ideal scenario would be to put the AP's into local mode but unless this has changed in a SW release then I don't believe it's possible...
My question is: How do I get ALL the employees to obtain addresses from their interface and not the management VLAN?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think we need a closer look to your configurarion to eliminate some possibilities:
- What is the WLAN security you choose?
- What is the interface that is configured under the WLAN?
- Does your WLAN have local switching enabled?
- If your security is using RADIUS server, do you have AAA override enabled under the WLAN config?
- If your security is using RADIUS server, do you send any attributes to the users?
- You have eliminate that clients that got management vlan IPs are always on same AP or they can be on any AP.

• RV180 managing VLAN on WAN side

Hi,
i have a question:
Does the RV180 supports managing vlans on the WAN side?
i would like to use PPPoE over a certain VLAN, and i do not get it working.
see https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2242943 for more information.
if the RV180 does support it, how can i manage this?
if the RV180 does not support this feature, which entry level router does support this feature?
Message was edited by: Mad Cat: added link to other question

I have this problem also with the RV180. The Fibre internet in New Zealand requires a PPPoE login in on VLAN 10. This is not unusual as I understand it. Is this something that could be implemented in a future firmware update? Happy to test a beta firmware.

• Changing Management Vlan

Hi I need to change the vlan of my management network and had a few questions. I have two cores (4507's) that i created the new vlan on and started to add the vlan to the access switches (2960's) throughout the campus. is it ok to setup the new vlan and give it an Ip address while still leaving the old one in? will this cause any issues? i will eventually take the old one out once im confident everything is stable. Also, Is there anything else i might have missed in creatin the new vlan? i pretty much just copied anything that was in the config for the old one.
thanks
Mike

Mike
If the config at the top is from your 4500s then it looks like you are setting the STP priority for all vlans on those switches so nothing to worry about.
So assuming you have setup the vlan 4 interfaces on the 4500 with HSRP etc. then -
1) login to the 4500. If you work from the 4500 then the default gateway etc. on the access switch doesn't matter because you are in the same vlan ie. vlan 4
2) make sure that vlan 4 is allowed on the trunk link. You need to make sure it is allowed on both ends
3) Currently you have a vlan 241 SVI on each access switch. So you need to -
a) create a vlan 4 SVI and give it an IP. ie. -
int vlan 4
shut <-- just to make sure it is not brought up yet
ip address x.x.x.x <subnet mask>
At this stage that SVI should be down and the vlan 241 up. To see this do a "sh ip int brief" and it should show you the status of the vlan interfaces.
b) do a "no shut" on the vlan 4 ie.
int vlan 4
no shut
one of two things will happen -
i) either both SVIs will still be up in which case you can then log out of the switch, log back in using the vlan 4 SVI IP and then shutdown the 241 SVI
or
ii) because the 241 SVI is up the vlan 4 SVI won't come up. If this is the case you will then need to shutdown the 241 SVI. When you do this you will automatically be logged out of the switch.
You should however then be able to log back in using the vlan 4 IP address because that SVI should have come up. You must make sure you did the "no shut" under vlan 4 in the previous step.
If that all works and you are now logged in using the vlan 4 SVI IP then you can add -
"ip default-gateway x.x.x.x" <-- where x.x.x.x is the HSRP VIP for vlan 4 on the 4500s.
Once you have done that you should be able to connect to the switch from a remote subnet eg. your PC for example.
Like i say, even if you do get locked out of the switch end user traffic will not be affected but you would then need to login locally to the switch to setup the new management vlan.
Let me know how it goes.

• Restrict management vlan

Hi,
I've been looking around the forums and cisco documents for an answer to my question, and get close but cannot quite seem to find an answer i understand.
I am looking to create a managemenet vlan (vlan 100) on which all the switches have their management ip address and also allow me to place management ports for certain servers.
Currently on my 3750 i can ssh/http to the ip address of any of the vlan interfaces set up on it and log in.
I only want to be able to do this from the ip address set up for vlan 100.
I can then set up ACLs to restrict where i can access vlan 100 from.
Is this possible? If so, how?

Just to try and present a different angle here as the use of a network-wide Management VLAN is simply not a good idea.
Spanning VLANs over your entire network introduces STP loops and instability that (IMO) should be avoided at all possible costs. If you have a typical structured network with Core, Distribution & Access or for smaller networks just a Core & Access then you should really be keeping access VLANs local to switches (or stacks if you have 3750's) using trunks with only the allowed VLANs enabled or better still Layer-3 routed uplinks. This way all uplinks will always be in a forwarding state and you will get better utilisation of your infrastructure links, plus any STP instability issues are removed. Have a read of the campus design SRND at the SRND site (http://www.cisco.com/go/srnd).
Based on your comments (Currently on my 3750 i can ssh/http to the ip address of any of the vlan interfaces) you are running these switches as Layer-3 devices (routers) so the concept of a management VLAN does dwindle a bit anyway. What i would suggest is using /32 loopback interfaces to manage these devices and lock the VTY lines (& HTTP/HTTPS if you use it?) down with access-classes restricting access to certain networks (typically where your management hosts are). You can also configure control-plane policing as an extra level of defence to deny or rate limit access to control-plane protocols (routing, management etc). Be careful with control-plane policing though as I have got myself into some odd situations with it.

• Catalyst 3550 Privat-VLAN

Hi,
I was about to purchase a 3560 for my home lab to do private VLANS because I read that 3550s do not supprt pvlan. Till my suprise i can see the commands to do a private-vlan configuration on my 3550:
(config-vlan)#private-vlan ?
association Configure association between private VLANs
community Configure the VLAN as a community private VLAN
isolated Configure the VLAN as an isolated private VLAN
primary Configure the VLAN as a primary private VLAN
twoway-community Configure the VLAN as a two way community private VLAN
Can any tell me why everyone says their not supported though the commands are availble?
Thanks in advance
Bart

Hi Bart,
The IOS is obviously compiled from a common code base that is shared also for Catalyst 3560 and similar platforms. That is why you see the commands actually present. However, if you try to define a Private VLAN (either primary or secondary) and exit the VLAN configuration mode, you will get a platform error message, indicating the switch hardware could not be programmed for the Private VLAN operation.
Private VLANs require hardware support, and if the underlying platform has no hardware provisions for supporting Private VLANs, they will not be available even if the switch IOS itself has the management features built in, as is in your case. True, the Private VLAN management commands should have not been enabled in the IOS for your platform but it's just the way it is...
Best regards,
Peter

• VLAN trunking, native vlan and management vlan

Hello all,
In our situation, we have 3 separate vlans: 100 for management vlan and 101 for data and 102 for voice.
We have an uplink which is trunked using .1Q. Our access ports has the data vlan as the native. Based on our design, what should be the native vlan for this uplink trunk? Should it be the management vlan or the data vlan? Thanks for your help.

To answer this question you must remember what the native vlan is. Native is where untagged packets are sent, i.e. packets without a dot1Q tag. It is there mainly for compatibility. On an access port it has no function while normal traffic is not tagged and sent to the vlan that is configured for the port. Traffic for the voice vlan is an exception to this general rule.
Native vlan setting only plays a role on trunk links where most of the traffic carries a tag. As explained, it is then used as the vlan for untagged traffic.
When you do not consider this a security breach, you may configure the data-vlan as native. Use another vlan (why not vlan1?) in the case where you want to isolate this traffic.
I find it good design practice to use the same native vlan throughout the network. This keeps things clear and it's better for anyone who is not completely obsessed with security. The latter kind of people can always find a reason to mess things up, both for themselves and for others;-)
Regards,
Leo

• The old native vlan question....

Topic came up during troubleshooting a 3524XL sw.
I think my understanding of the native vlan concept is wrong.
I thought on a trunk port (Cisco device) that any packet transversing a trunk link (dot1q trunk that is) has a vlan tag applied on the egress port. As an untagged packet arrives on the port (prior to being sent out over the trunk), its is tagged with the native vlan (if its not assocated with any other vlan), then sent out the (egress) the trunked port.
But lately I have been reading that
"A native vlan is the untagged vlan on an 802.1q trunked switchport. The native vlan and management vlan could be the same, but it is better security practice that they aren't. Basically if a switch receives untagged frames on a trunkport, they are assumed to be part of the vlan that are designated on the switchport as the native vlan. Frames egressing a switchport on the native vlan are not tagged. This is the definition however more recent switch software often will allow you to tag all of the frames, even those in the native vlan. This gives some added security and allows the CoS bits to be carried between switches even on the native vlan. Let me know if you need further clarification."
From : https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/thread/8721
So this tells me that you can have a packet transversing a dot1q link w/o a vlan tag...then when it arrives on the other end its put in the vlan that is on that native vlan question. Is this correct?
If so, and a packet can transverse a trunk link w/o a VLAN tag applied, how does a sw detect (ingress) a native vlan mismatch?
Thanks!

Hi,
It's correct, the native vlan is not tagged by default on the trunk link but some platform can make you tag all traffic though even the native vlan.
The native vlan mismatch is detected through cdp.
Regards.
Alain.

• 1300 bridge with native and management vlan in different vlans

Hello,
We are going to set up a wireless bridge between two 1300 accesspoints. In our network the native vlan and the management vlan are different vlan's. Will we be able to manage the ap and switch at the "remote" site? Do we have to set up two ssid's, one for native and one for management?
regards,
Rutger

Too answer my own question:
I don't think it is possible. Things work fine by making our management vlan the native vlan on switches and ap's involved. Management IP address on the BVI1 interface and everything works!

• Management VLAN on a WAP371.

Hello,
When I try and configure the WAP371 to use my management VLAN, I lose control of the WAP. I am connecting it to my 3750-X stack, and I have the port it is connected to configured as an 802.1Q trunk, and the 3750-X shows the port up as an 802.1Q trunk. I have configured VLAN 501 as the management VLAN and when I configure the management VLAN on the WAP371 to use VLAN 501, and I set an appropriate static IP for this VLAN, and an appropriate default gateway, I can no longer communicate with the WAP371. I do know it is properly using VLAN tags, as the other SSIDs are communicating with hosts on the respective VLANs associated with each SSID. I have tried leaving the untagged VLAN support on, I have turned it off. I am out of ideas on what else to try. If anyone else has successfully configured the WAP371 to use a tagged VLAN I would love to hear about what was needed.
Thx

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.
What is the management VLAN that is used on the other parts of your network? I would suggest calling in to open a case with one of our phone engineers so that we can work with you.

• 3702i AP's not Joining WLC - Layer 3 discovery request not received on management VLAN

Hi Guys,
This is a follow up post to this thread: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12400481/3702i-not-joint-2504
Have been playing around with my AP's and made sure the time is correct on all the devices ( WLC and Switch). I have also moved the AP's to the same Vlan as the management IP of the WLC.
if I move the AP's to the same Vlan as the WLC they join and are happy, as soon as I move them to a different Vlan they cant join and there time goes back to the default plus they do not seem to save the WLC details to flash but still remember the test names I give them.
it appears that option 43 is working fine as I can see it look for the WLC IP and I have done some trouble shooting on the WLC and it looks like it see's the AP but doesn't except it.

• Organization Management Interview Questions and Answers Extremely Urgent

Hi,
Please let me know Organization Management Interview Questions and Answers. MOST MOST URGENT
Please do not post Link or website name and detail response will be highly appreciated.
Very Respectfully,
Sameer.
SAP HR .

Hi there,
Pl. find herewith the answers of the questions posted on the forum.
1. What are plan versions used for?
Ans : Plan versions are scenarios in which you can create organizational plans.
• In the plan version which you have flagged as the active plan version, you create your current valid organizational plan. This is also the integration plan version which will be used if integration with Personnel Administration is active.
• You use additional plan versions to create additional organizational plans as planning scenarios.
As a rule, a plan version contains one organizational structure, that is, one root organizational unit. It is, however, possible to create more than one root organizational unit, that is more than one organizational structure in a plan version.
For more information on creating plan versions, see the Implementation Guide (IMG), under Personnel Management  Global Settings in Personnel Management  Plan Version Maintenance.
2. What are the basic object types?
Ans. An organization object type has an attribute that refers to an object of the organization management (position, job, user, and so on). The organization object type is linked to a business object type.
Example
The business object type BUS1001 (material) has the organization object type T024L (laboratory) as the attribute that on the other hand has an object of the organization management as the attribute. Thus, a specific material is linked with particular employees using an assigned laboratory.
3. What is the difference between a job and a position?
Ans. Job is not a concrete, it is General holding various task to perform which is generic.(Eg: Manager, General Manager, Executive).
Positions are related to persons and Position is concrete and specific which are occupied by Persons. (Eg: Manager - HR, GM – HR, Executive - HR).
4. What is the difference between an organizational unit and a work centre?
Ans. Work Centre : A work center is an organizational unit that represents a suitably-equipped zone where assigned operations can be performed. A zone is a physical location in a site dedicated to a specific function.
Organization Unit : Organizational object (object key O) used to form the basis of an organizational plan. Organizational units are functional units in an enterprise. According to how tasks are divided up within an enterprise, these can be departments, groups or project teams, for example.
Organizational units differ from other units in an enterprise such as personnel areas, company codes, business areas etc. These are used to depict structures (administration or accounting) in the corresponding components.
5. Where can you maintain relationships between objects?
Ans. Infotype 1001 that defines the Relationships between different objects.
There are many types of possible relationships between different objects. Each individual relationship is actually a subtype or category of the Relationships infotype.
Certain relationships can only be assigned to certain objects. That means that when you create relationship infotype records, you must select a relationship that is suitable for the two objects involved. For example, a relationship between two organizational units might not make any sense for a work center and a job.
6. What are the main areas of the Organization and Staffing user interfaces?
Ans. You use the user interface in the Organization and Staffing or Organization and Staffing (Workflow) view to create, display and edit organizational plans.
The user interface is divided into various areas, each of it which fulfills specific functions.
Search Area
Selection Area
Overview Area
Details Area
Together, the search area and the selection area make up the Object Manager.
7. What is Expert Mode used for?
Ans. interface is used to create Org structure. Using Infotypes we can create Objects in Expert mode and we have to use different transactions to create various types of objects. If the company needs to create a huge structure, we will use Simple maintenance, because it is user friendly that is it is easy to create a structure, the system automatically relationship between the objects.
8. Can you create cost centers in Expert Mode?
Ans. Probably not. You create cost center assignments to assign a cost center to an organizational unit, or position.
When you create a cost center assignment, the system creates a relationship record between the organizational unit or position and the cost center. (This is relationship A/B 011.) No assignment percentage record can be entered.
9. Can you assign people to jobs in Expert Mode?
10. Can you use the organizational structure to create a matrix organization?
Ans. By depicting your organizational units and the hierarchical or matrix relationships between them, you model the organizational structure of your enterprise.
This organizational structure is the basis for the creation of an organizational plan, as every position in your enterprise is assigned to an organizational unit. This defines the reporting structure.
11. In general structure maintenance, is it possible to represent the legal entity of organizational units?
12. What is the Object Infotype (1000) used for?
Ans. Infotype that determines the existence of an organizational object.
As soon as you have created an object using this infotype, you can determine additional object characteristics and relationships to other objects using other infotypes.
To create new objects you must:
• Define a validity period for the object
• Provide an abbreviation to represent the object
• Provide a brief description of the object
The validity period you apply to the object automatically limits the validity of any infotype records you append to the object. The validity periods for appended infotype records cannot exceed that of the Object infotype.
The abbreviation assigned to an object in the system renders it easily identifiable. It is helpful to use easily recognizable abbreviations.
You can change abbreviations and descriptions at a later time by editing object infotype records. However, you cannot change an object’s validity period in this manner. This must be done using the Delimit function.
You can also delete the objects you create. However, if you delete an object the system erases all record of the object from the database. You should only delete objects if they are not valid at all (for example, if you create an object accidentally)
13. What is the Relationships Infotype (1001) used for?
Ans. Infotype that defines the Relationships between different objects.
You indicate that a employee or user holds a position by creating a relationship infotype record between the position and the employee or user. Relationships between various organizational units form the organizational structure in your enterprise. You identify the tasks that the holder of a position must perform by creating relationship infotype records between individual tasks and a position.
Creating and editing relationship infotype records is an essential part of setting up information in the Organizational Management component. Without relationships, all you have are isolated pieces of information.
You must decide the types of relationship record you require for your organizational structure.
If you work in Infotype Maintenance, you must create relationship records manually. However, if you work in Simple Maintenance and Structural Graphics, the system creates certain relationships automatically.
14. Which status can Infotypes in the Organizational Management component have?
Ans. Once you have created the basic framework of your organizational plan in Simple Maintenance, you can create and maintain all infotypes allowed for individual objects in your organizational plan. These can be the basic object types of Organizational Management – organizational unit, position, work center and task. You can also maintain object types, which do not belong to Organizational Management.
15. What is an evaluation path?
Ans. An evaluation path describes a chain of relationships that exists between individual organizational objects in the organizational plan.
Evaluation paths are used in connection with the definition of roles and views.
The evaluation path O-S-P describes the relationship chain Organizational unit > Position > Employee.
Evaluation paths are used to select other objects from one particular organizational object. The system evaluates the organizational plan along the evaluation path.
Starting from an organizational unit, evaluation path O-S-P is used to establish all persons who belong to this organizational unit or subordinate organizational units via their positions.
16. What is Managers Desktop used for?
Ans. Manager's Desktop assists in the performance of administrative and organizational management tasks. In addition to functions in Personnel Management, Manager's Desktop also covers other application components like Controlling, where it supports manual planning or the information system for cost centers.
17. Is it possible to set up new evaluation paths in Customizing?
Ans. You can use the evaluation paths available or define your own. Before creating new evaluation paths, check the evaluation paths available as standard.
18. Which situations require new evaluation paths?
Ans. When using an evaluation path in a view, you should consider the following:
Define the evaluation path in such a manner that the relationship chain always starts from a user (object type US in Organizational Management) and ends at an organizational unit, a position or a user.
When defining the evaluation path, use the Skip indicator in order not to overload the result of the evaluation.
19. How do you set up integration between Personnel Administration and Organizational Management?
Ans. Integration between the Organizational Management and Personnel Administration components enables you to,
Use data from one component in the other
Keep data in the two components consistent
Basically its relationship between person and position.
Objects in the integration plan version in the Organizational Management component must also be contained in the following Personnel Administration tables:
Tables Objects
T528B and T528T Positions
T513S and T513 Jobs
T527X Organizational units
If integration is active and you create or delete these objects in Organizational Management transactions, the system also creates or deletes the corresponding entries automatically in the tables mentioned above. Entries that were created automatically are indicated by a "P". You cannot change or delete them manually. Entries you create manually cannot have the "P" indicator (the entry cannot be maintained manually).
You can transfer either the long or the short texts of Organizational Management objects to the Personnel Administration tables. You do this in the Implementation Guide under Organizational Management -> Integration -> Integration with Personnel Administration -> Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration. If you change these control entries at a later date, you must also change the relevant table texts. To do that you use the report RHINTE10 (Prepare Integration (OM with PA)).
When you activate integration for the first time, you must ensure that the Personnel Administration and the Organizational Management databases are consistent. To do this, you use the reports:
• RHINTE00 (Adopt organizational assignment (PA to PD))
• RHINTE10 (Prepare Integration (PD to PA))
• RHINTE20 (Check Program Integration PA - PD)
• RHINTE30 (Create Batch Input Folder for Infotype 0001)
The following table entries are also required:
• PLOGI PRELI in Customizing for Organizational Management (under Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration). This entry defines the standard position number.
• INTE in table T77FC
• INTE_PS, INTE_OSP, INTEBACK, INTECHEK and INTEGRAT in Customizing under Global Settings ® Maintain Evaluation Paths.
These table entries are included in the SAP standard system. You must not change them.
Since integration enables you to create relationships between persons and positions (A/B 008), you may be required to include appropriate entries to control the validation of these relationships. You make the necessary settings for this check in Customizing under Global Settings ® Maintain Relationships.
Sincerely,
Devang Nandha

• Wireless AP Management VLAN and BVIs

Hi All,
I've been looking around and I can't find a solution to what I am trying to achieve and I was hoping the community may have had more luck than I have.
I'm looking to have my management VLAN for my AP setup as a tagged BVI but I'm struggling to get it setup. I can set it up fine using BVI1 and having it just accessed on the native VLAN but I see this as a security flaw, I don't really want direct access into my management network on the switch.
Now there may be a better way of preventing this but I am, at least compared to many, still fairly new to Cisco and this seems to be the best approach. Please see below for my current config, hopefully you can let me know where I am going wrong.
Also, as a note, at the moment I am mainly focusing on the management security of the AP before I check the wifi config, hence the radios still being shutdown so there may also be small errors in this. I have also removed some elements which are not relevant.

With this setup I can't get any IP communication, send or receive but I can see the MAC address on the switch in the MAC address table on vlan100. There is also no entries in the ARP table of the AP.
The switch is setup with vlan 999 untagged and vlans 10,30,100 as tagged.
Hope you can help! Thanks for any advice in advanced.
Many thanks,
Martin.

Yea that would work and I have set it up like this without issue but I'm trying to limit access to the management VLAN, I don't want someone to be able to plug directly into the switch and be on the same broadcast domain as alll of the other equipment.
There are otherways of achieving this but I felt like I was so close with the above config but I was just missing something.
