3560 w/ SFP to AIR-PWRINJ-FIB to 1242AG issue
Hi,
I'm having all sorts of issues trying to get an Acces Point talking to a switch.
I have the following:
WS-C3560V2-24PS Catalyst 3560
GLC-SX-MM= SFP Adapter
AIR-PWRINJ-FIB Media Converter
AIR-AP1242AG-N-K9 Access Point
(MT-RJ to LC patch cable)
Here's what happens:
The AP powers up via Ethernet
The Ethernet LED is on for the AP (Status light is blue/green)
The MC Shows both the Fibre and Power LED's
The Switch does not show the Green LED where the SFP is plugged into
I've tried a few different configs with the switch and the Gigabit ports, but nothing I do seems to work.
Also tried other AP and MC.
Have confirmed that the AP works ok via Ethernet straight from the Switch.
And before you ask, yes, I do need to run the AP via the MC (due to distance).
I'd really appreciate any help on this one.
I have a very similar issue.
I have the following:
WS-C3750G-12S
AIR-PWRINJ-FIB Media Converter
AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9 Access Point
(MT-RJ to LC patch cable)
Happend the same to me also.
The power injector recognize the link and the AP, but the switch in my case with a GBIC does not turn on.
Did you ever make it work?

Can you use a AIR-PWRINJ-FIB with a AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9 access point?
Is it possible to use a AIR-PWRINJ-FIB with an AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9 access point?
You cannot use a mouse as it defeats the point of a MacBook. You can although have a keyboard for the iPad which allows word processing and simple things like typing emails. Hope this helps

Media converter AIR-PWRINJ-FIB
We have AP 1240AG connected to LAN via media converter AIR-PWRINJ-FIB.
When there is link failure on the fiber side of the AIR-PWRINJ-FIB the cooper port on the media converter is always up and did not detect fiber disconnection effectively AP1240AG did not detect LAN connection failure.
Is this a normal behavior of AIR-PWRINJ-FIB?This is normal in install Ihave seen. the issue is the ap does not communicate with the far end switch in spanning-tree. What some have done is put switches on both ends, but that might be costly. You might want to search around for a converter that might have the ability to do this...
This sounds like it can do what you are looking for:

Slow performance through Catalyst 3560 w/SFPs
I have some WS-C3560-48PS-S switches with 1000BaseT and fiber SX gigabit SFPs connected to a server farm switch WS-C3750G-24TS-E. Servers are attached with gigatbit-capable NICs.
I found extremely sluggish performance when installing Windows XP to new PCs via the network, which first draw a DOS-based Windows 98 TCP/IP stack on themselves from floppy then start copying necessary files from the gigabit attached Windows 2000 servers. So client PCs are on 3560's 100Mbps ports, backbone is 1000BaseT or fiber SX (tried both, no difference) to C3750G-24TS-E, where the server is attached and set to gigabit speed.
Cabling is fine, and no port errors occur.
I managed to speed up the installation process (took 4 hours, become 15 minutes!!!) by any one of the next three measures:
1. Lowered the server connection speed to 100Mbps full duplex (switch port and NIC).
2. Set the backbone to 100Mbps full duplex.
3. Relocated the server to a 100Mbps port on the 3560 switch.
I could exclude the C3750G-24TS-E from the suspect list by moving the server directly to the 3560 1000BaseT SFP and still the same phenomena could be seen.
I suspect the Windows 98 TCP/IP stack for the sluggish performance.
Has anyone come accross similar problem or has a better idea? Here is what did...
Auto QoS set on the 48 port switches. Any devices on the 24TS connecting to another device on the 24TS works fine. Devices connecting from the 48P to the 24TS with Auto-QoS on the 48P experince severe performance degradation. Below is the global command to fix this.
**** Global Command to Fix the Issue
mls qos queue-set output 1 threshold 2 400 400 100 400
****** Queue Setting Before Fix **********
MID3750Stack#sh mls qos queue-set 1

threshold2: 100 50 100 100
reserved : 50 100 50 50
maximum : 400 400 400 400
********** Queue Setting After Fix *************
MID3750Stack#sh mls qos queue-set 1
Queueset: 1
Queue : 1 2 3 4
buffers : 20 20 20 40
threshold1: 100 400 100 100
threshold2: 100 400 100 100
reserved : 50 100 50 50
maximum : 400 400 400 400
Notice that in the output above that the thresholds for queue 2 by
default are only configured to allow 50% of their buffer to be used
before traffic is dropped since Queue 2 is the lowest priority queue
and services the type of traffic that your switch has been
dropping. We changed this queue to accomodate a higher amount of the
lower priority traffic which thus resolves the issue.
As you can see, there are core differences in the architecture of the
two switches which account for the different behaviors when it comes
to buffer management. -
Sorry for my english...
I want to deploy a network based on Cisco Aironet 1300. In enclosures with network equipment has a guarantee of power 24 VDC. How can power the AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2T from the existing power supply? Which slot (connector) should get him to come to the injector? The input voltage range for AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2T is +12VDC to +40VDC. +24VDC must be provided to the power injector via the power jack. It’s located between the F-connectors to the left side and the Ethernet LAN port on the right side.
What did you mean about the “existing power supply”? -
Aironet Power Injector -Air-Pwrinj-Blr2=
I am working with a Aironet Power Injector (Air-Pwrinj-Blr2=) trying to connect it to the access point it comes with to a desktop running Windows XP. I am able to connected to it and use cli commands via hyper terminal, but I am not able to get a network signal to the desktop. I was able to find the IP address or what I assume is the ip address, but can't ping it from inside the office and I am not able to use the ip address to get a connection to the power injector via browser. Has anybody worked with one of these units before this is a first for me and I am hoping somebody can steer me in the right direction and get this working. The Ethernet, Status and Radio are all blinking green lights on the access point and the Install is not used on this model so no light there. Thanks in advance for any help provided!
what error do you get when you http://10.0.0.1 ?
webpage cannot be displayed
seems to function cli mode fine?
it seems to, but I'm also not very familiar with this piece of equipment
I am also receiving a blinking green light under (E) Ethernet and also under (S) Status
the device does a sh tech?
Heres what I received from this command:

Can we use a power injector from a 1410 series wireless bridge to replace a failed AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2 for a 1310 series bridge ? I know there is no console port on the BLR1.
It is 'possibe' if they provide same power. But I don't think they do. And even if they do, that is not supported scenario by cisco and if anything goes wron g cisco can not help you unless you use the proper devices. So it is always recommended to use the devices that cisco recommend even though other non-supported devices may work.

AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2 and 1400 bridges
I'm wondering if the AIR-PWRINJ-BLR2 power injector will work with the 1400 series bridges, or will it work only for the 1300s. Thanks.
Cisco recommends AIR-PWRINJ-BLR1 for 1400 series bridges. I don't think the voltage specs are the same for both these injectors.

I have a mac book air. Have had no issues with any virus before but today my safari page keeps directing me to a page which says " cyber crime" posing to be by Cheshire Police AUthority uk metropolitan police.Tells me that I have 24 hours to pay a 100 pounds.Using my ipad I looked it up and it appears to be a very common virus.I am worried about my Mac(relieved at the same time that I am not a cyber criminal
!) so anyway what should I do.I tried to fonce quit and then open safari but only that page keeps opening up.Looking up online their was a suggestion to reset safari, but I am unable to click on the reset safari tab as the pop up for stay on page keeps coming up.i have switched off my lap top now.But am really worried. How can I get rid of it?It's not a virus. It's a JavaScript scam that only affects your web browser, and only temporarily.
Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize. -
Cisco 500 Series Fiber Optic connector issues
I have a 500 Series express with a Cisco GE SFP, LC connector SX transeiver and a belkin dual LC to ST cable plugged into it.
The unit is stating the cable is misconfigured. Is there anything I have to do besides configuring the port to switch in the smart role settings to get this fiber interface to work?Hi
If you are getting any error logs in your switch is it possible for you to paste the same here ?
Also are you connecting your server on the SFP or any other device ..

Macbook Air mid-2012 battery life issues -- a possible culprit ?
Hi all,
I've posted and followed a thread regarding diminished battery life for the mid-2012 MBA, when Mountain Lion was released. I never could fix the problem, was contacted by Apple but that didn't solve anything either.
The troubles I was (and still am) having with my MBA were :
Battery life reduced by at least 33% when I upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion, following a firmware update.
No change when I clean installed ML.
No change when I upgraded, and then clean installed Mavericks.
My battery, after 13 months of use, had its capacity reduced to 70-80%, and has now been stable for one year at 70-80% capacity. It now lasts approximately 3 to 4 hours, and has never lasted longer than 5 hours since I upgraded to ML, which was a few weeks after the laptop was purchased...
I've tried everything that was posted on the forums, SMC resets, etc. Now to the (maybe) interesting stuff.
I stumbled today on something interesting. I was researching my issue to see if people with the same laptop, that followed the same firmware upgrade path than I did had similar issues. Long story short, a forum post led me to something interesting, located at /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins/ACPI_SM C_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources
DISCLAIMER Whatever you do, do not try to remove / move anything in this folder.
What is interesting is that my Macbook Air has the following identifier : MacBookAir5,2. However, in the above-mentioned folder, there is no MacBookAir5_2.plist, it stops at 4_2.plist and then goes on to MBP models. Now, the question that I have is could the fact that this plist is missing be related to my battery issues ? In the sense that without this file, the kernel does not know how to properly manage the power, read the battery status / thermal sensors ?
I would really love to fix this 2-year old issue that has been plaguing my laptop ever since I purchased it.
Cheers,
Hadrien

Edited to add a screenshot of the plists directory.I leave my LithiumIon battery plugged in when near an outlet. But I use it on battery down to 40% at least once a month.
Using Coconut battery (download from macupdate.com) you see my battery is just fine after 18 months: -
Brand New MacBook Air Randomly Resetting (IMO WiFi Issue)
Good evening,
My problem is as follows:
I purchased a brand new Macbook Air last week and since the get go have been having issues while transferring large amounts of data over WIFI. The issue is that it seems when there is no activity (I leave the files transferring and have no interaction with the computer) and the files are transferring, some sort of error occurs and creates the system to panic and subsequently reboots.
I have contacted Apple, and they ran me through a few common procedures (Reset SMC, RAM, Disk Repair, etc...). On my own I also ran the Hardware Tool several times and the results was always the same (everything in perfectly working order). I also did a restore in the event that it may be some faulty system file, yet to no avail as the problem persists.
As per my title, I believe it has something to do with WiFi card, as I even disconnected all peripherals (USB Apple Keyboard & My Passport External HDD), yet again and as mentioned above the system continues to reboot without any apparent reason.
Below is a copy of the log, certain information has been changed such as UUID, but everything else is as is.
Could it be a hardware problem? As I am only seeing (as of now) this happen whenever I leave the computer and it is downloading a file.

Macbook Air 13" Early 2014 - Display issue
Having a weird issue with my Macbook Air Early 2014. HDD 256, 4gb 1600mhz, 1.4 Ghz i5, HD 5000 - OSX 10.9.3
Being brief… I have researched and tired SMC etc and think I have explored this problem to a point where I have identified a key factor causing a major display and system issue. The system only works properly when audio is playing through speakers, specifically keyboard, trackpad and screen. If audio is not playing, the screen wlil turn on then off after 3 seconds and 80% of the time the trackpad and keyboard do not work.
However - If I have external device such as aux display, keyboard and mouse It works fine without having to have any type of audio coming from speakers.
So via process of elimination is seems the MB, sorry logic board and components are somehow faulting and know it could be many reasons for this.
If anyone could give some insight into troubleshoot options or things to try, that's be amazing.
To be clear - All software resets inc SMC have been tried and failed. All OS etc is up to date.
Before I have to leave my computer at a genius bar in the Apple store for days or leave it to get fixed or open it, I want to see my options. I use it for work and run my own small business and can't afford the time or money and having to make do with inconvenience of always being plugged into external screens and controls.
Thanks so much if you read this.Probably not. Take it in for a free diagnosis and warranty repair.

Can I use a USA macbook air in the UK without issue?
Hello all
I am acutely aware of the customs and taxation issues that occur with buying from abroad, but I wanted to know if there are issues with:
Voltage; US sockets are 120v and UK are 240v. I know the macbook air's tech specs state that they can handle line voltage of 100-240v and a Hertx rate of 50-60Htz, which should make it ok, but not sure...
Software; apart from converting everything into proper english (), will I be limited in the compatability dept (e.g. can I download from UK Mac App store and install UK software without issue), etc.?
Repairs; can I take it to a UK Apple store and will my warranty still be valid?
Thanks, hope you all enjoy your mac as much as me !
Regards,
Mohammad SyedVoltage; US sockets are 120v and UK are 240v. I know the macbook air's tech specs state that they can handle line voltage of 100-240v and a Hertx rate of 50-60Htz, which should make it ok, but not sure...
All you need is a suitable adapter to allow the 2 pin power prong or 3-pin cable to plug into a UK outlet. Apple sell an international adapter set (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B?fnode=MTY1NDEwMQ) which, at $39, is really a bit overkill for travel to one location, when a quick search on Amazon for 'UK Travel Adapter' provides a number of options closer to $5.... and which would do the job perfectly well - you can find the same adapters in Amazon's UK store too, so you can get them once you arrive there if you prefer.
Software; apart from converting everything into proper english (), will I be limited in the compatability dept (e.g. can I download from UK Mac App store and install UK software without issue), etc.?
You'll need to create an account in the UK store, but there is nothing to prevent you installing and using UK-sourced software along with already installed US applications.
Repairs; can I take it to a UK Apple store and will my warranty still be valid?

Hi Team, I have installed new cisco AIR-CAP1602I-E-K9 in the remote site LAN however the access point received the ip address through central DHCP helper address. I am able to ping the access point through LAN but I am unable to telenet the device to configure.
Also when Field enginner visited on site to connect physical he connected through console but we were not able get into configure mode though we had full privilege access.
Please advice.

2. I am also not able to discover controller when running in controller-based IOS. getting below errors.
