3600 AP keeps bouncing between Primary & Secondary 5760 WLC

Hello All,
I am not sure if it was a good idea to change the controllers from software based to IOS based :(..... Anyway this is the first time I am working on the IOS based controllers and have been going through very unusual thing. I have a 3600 AP and a couple of 2600 AP, I am just at the start of the configuration for a new deployment. Even though I have many concerns but I will start with the one which is bothering me the most, which is the APs keep jumping from a primary controller to the secondary controller. I have attached the sh run, sh logging, and the sh version for a 3600 AP and the two controllers. All I can understand from the logs is that the capwap interface keeps going down which causes the AP to fall back to the other controller, I have also tried turning off the AP FALLBACK feature, still no luck.
Addiditional Confusions,
Does any one know as how to setup HA in these controllers, as I do not see any HA or RP (Port) on these controllers neither there is any stacking module on the controllers. Would it be the old way of doing it, which was defining Primary and Secondary Controllers on the APs, if yes than I should receive two different licenses for the Controllers. But these are my devices Part numbers:
Primary: AIR-CT5760-500-K9
Secondary: AIR-CT5760-HA-K9
for now I have enabled the evaluation license on both the devices. I hope that does not make any difference.

Hi,
I have been doing some of my own trouble shooting and found out that as soon as I create a layer 3 interface on the controller so as to map it to any SSID, all of my APs start to jump on to the secondary controller and since there is a primary and secondary controller configuration on each AP they tend to come back but than soon after they jump back to the secondary....... As soon as I delete the additional layer 3 interfaces, apart from the wireless management, I get all the APs back to normal register to the controller without a glitch, I am pasting the logs being received for the APs behaviour. I have marked the logs in between with Asterics to indicate when I cleared the layer 3 interfaces and from there onwards all the APs started coming up again

  • Windows 8.1 screen bounces between primary and secondary monitors

I have a Lenovo T530 laptop with a docking station and a IBM monitor L200P attached to it.
Up until yesterday, this configuration was running Windows 8 Pro with no issues.
However today, after I installed the Windows 8.1 upgrade, I started having problems with the screen bouncing between the primary and secondary monitors without my intervention. The problem happens very regularly, regardless of whether I have selected the laptop as primary monitor or the IBM monitor attached to the docking station.
I verified that the problem does not happen with Windows 7 and Windows 8 installation and only starts appearing after the Windows 8.1 upgrade is applied.
    Does anybody have similar problems
    Thank you in advance.

another thing you could try is this: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'''.
double-click it and change its value to '''1.2''' (or any other zoom factor that fits your purpose: 1.0 relates to 100%, 1.2 equals 120% and so on; -1.0 is the default value and will adhere to the system settings).
    </blockquote>
Okay, I tried it, set it to 1.2 and even more stuff got blurry and fuzzy. Besides everything in the FF menu bar everything in the header on youtube and a few other pages did it too. It did make the pages fill the actual page better, but the blur is worse than this prob so I set it back to -1.0.
    Any other ideas?

  • WCS HA - network between primary & secondary

Looking through the WCS 7.0 config guide, one of the pre-requisites for using HA between a primary and secondary instance of WCS is: "A reliable high-speed wired network must exist between the primary WCS and its backup WCS"
Is this implying they should be physically co-located with a wire-speed switched conenction between them, or could they be located across 2 geographically separated data centres which have a reasonable speed WAN between them?
    Thanks
    Nigel.

    Hi,
Its not mandatory that we need to hav it in the same LAN.. we can have it over WAN as well! but just an FYI on the below bug..

  • Display keeps switching between primary and clone.. I think.

My laptop, Pavilion DM3, keeps switching displays by the screen blacking out yet the computer still running.  If a video is playing for example I can still hear the audio but the screen goes black.  Some little musical tone plays when it switches and sometimes I get a little notification box that pops up saying the optimal resolution for clone display is... or it will say the optimal resolution for the primary is...
It's incredibly frustrating.  Sometimes it only happens once every few minutes and sometimes it happens once every few seconds.  I usually press ctrl+alt+f3 which works but it's annoying to have to keep doing it.  I took it to Best Buy and they reinstalled the drivers and said that should work and if it doesnt then the next step is to ship it off to HP and that could take weeks.  The problem is I'm currently in grad school and this is my only computer.  I can't go weeks without my laptop even if it means having my screen black out every few seconds.  Hopefully it really is just a setting or something or a software thing that I can fix myself with the help of you fine people.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion dm3 with Windows 7 64bit.  Intel Pentium processer U5400.  Optimal resoolution is 1366x768.  Graphics is Intel HD Graphics(integrated I believe?)  4 GB memory, 500GB hard drive.  I've had the laptop may six weeks and it's been having the issues for about two weeks.

    Hi juniorkk,
I can understand your frustration with the screen issue and I will be happy to help. What version of operating system are you using? What is the product number for your computer? Are you using this with two monitors as well?

  • PRIMARY SECONDARY TERTIARY WLC 5508 6.0.196

    Hi,
i have a problem on the high disponibility. In fact my LAP 1242 connect the cisco-capwap-controller.localdomain for the first time but after it don't respect my primary registred on HIGH DISPONIBILITY.
    Do you have an idea?
    Thanks.

Hi, you need to make sure that the primary WLC that you have configured on the AP is in fact replying to the discovery request
    of the AP.
If the AP receives a discovery request from the WLC that is configured as a Primary then it will join it.
Some of the reasons for the AP no to join the primary are:
1- Wrong WLC name on the AP configuration
2- WLC doesn't reply to the discovery request of the AP
    3- WLC is already full
4- AP is not getting authorized on the WLC and Authorization have been enabled for the APs on the WLC.
    5- ....
    Hope this helps

  • Difference between primary eindex and secondary index?

    hi experts
    pls answer me
difference between primary eindex and secondary index?
    rewads apply.
    thanks.
    naresh.

    hi,
    check this link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/cf/21eb2d446011d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm
A difference is made between Primary & Secondary indexes to a table. the primary index consists of the key fields of the table and a pointer to the non-keys-fields of the table. The Primary index is generated automatically when a table is created and is created in the datebase as the same times as the table. It is also possible to define further indexes to a table in the ABAP/4 dictionary, which are then referred to as Secondary indexes.
Always it is not mandatory that an index should have all the key fields of a table. To see the index of a table
goto SE11->specify table name->click on the indexes... button on the application toolbar.
Based on your requirement you can you any of those index fields in the where clause of your query. Always its a better practice to use the index fields in the order specified. While selecting the records from a table it is always better to select the fields in the same order as specified in the table.

  • Terminals bouncing between AP's

We just installed WCS, 2 WLC 4402's with 29 1131 AP's. I have a user who is half way between 2 AP's. He keeps bouncing between the 2 AP's and gets a pop up message each time he does. He has an IBM T43 with a built in wireless card. How can I keep him associated just to one of the AP's. He is a Director so this is a big issue for him. I do not see anything in WCS or the WLC to designate a client to a specific AP. Any help on this would be great.

Under the Intel card properties there was a Roaming Agressively option, by unchecking the default if I moved the slide bar to a lower setting the card is more sticky to a AP. The higher setting causes the card to always move to the stronger signal so ther is much more roaming. Thanks for your help. Something else I noted was that by default the card is set to connect 802.11g over 802.11a.

  • How to switch between primary and secondary langua...

    Hi guys,
I've got an e52 but the only way to type in sec. Language while writing a message is:
Option-> Input Options-> writing language-> primary writing language (which must be changed to new one)
so there is no use of second. lang. or at least I don't know how to switch quickly between primary and second language without going that path.
    ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATE.
    Aram

    HI Everyone,
not sure if this helps. My solution is more fo Singpore users.
As i text between English and Chinese, I was unable to set my Secondary language to Chinese as there is no option to do so in the Writing language menu.
By discovery, i first set my Primay language as Chinese. Then further down the Language menu there is this option Default input. Click on that and select the default using Text case and select Ok.
When writing sms, you can switch between this 2 languages using the # key.
    Hope it helps.
    Have a pleasant day.

  • Difference between primary key and primary index

    Dear All,
Hi... .Could you pls tell me the difference between primary key and primary index.
    Thanks...

    Hi,
Primary Key : It is one which makes an entry of the field unique. No two distinct rows in a table can have the same value (or combination of values) in those columns.
Eg: first entry is 111, if you again enter value 111 , it doesnot allow 111 again. similarly for the strings or characters or numc etc. Remember that for char or numc or string 'NAME' is not equal to 'name'.
Primary Index: this is related to the performance .A database index is a data structure that improves the speed of operations in a table. Indices can be created using one or more columns, providing the basis for both rapid random lookups and efficient ordering of access to records. The disk space required to store the index is typically less than the storage of the table (since indices usually contain only the key-fields according to which the table is to be arranged, and excludes all the other details in the table), yielding the possibility to store indices into memory from tables that would not fit into it. In a relational database an index is a copy of part of a table. Some databases extend the power of indexing by allowing indices to be created on functions or expressions. For example, an index could be created on upper(last_name), which would only store the uppercase versions of the last_name field in the index.
In a database , we may have a large number of records. At the time of retrieving data from the database based on a condition , it is a burden to the db server. so whenever we create a primary key , a primary index is automatically created by the system.
If you want to maintain indices on other fields which are frequently used in where condition then you can create secondary indices.
    Reward points if helpful.
    Thanks,
    Sirisha..

  • Outgoing mail keeps defaulting to a secondary account rather than the account I sent the message from?

I have a new MacBook Air. I have two google mail accounts set up in the mail app  - one primary account and one secondary account. For some reason my outgoing messages keep defaulting to the secondary account. Even when I create a new message or reply to a message from the primary account and have the primary account highlighted, replies keep coming back to the secondary account. When I hover over the outgoing email address, it looks like it was sent from the secondary account even though I sent it from the primary account. I've gone into settings and looked at everything, and I still can't figure out what is causing this problem.

i know it may sound crazy, but it does.
I sent the same email out through my outlook and the person received the correct version. There is an issue with my Mail but thanks for the advice tho.

    1. Does this mean the local users closest to a secondary node will authenticate against it rather than hitting the primary?
    2. What if the delay between primary and secondary is larger, say 700ms-1000ms. Is this going to flap and desync?
    Thanks,
    Brendan

Yes you can have Primary and secondary ISE in your Distributed env.
A  Cisco ISE node can provide various services based on the persona that it  assumes. Each node in a deployment, with the exception of the Inline  Posture node, can assume the Administration, Policy Service, and  Monitoring personas. In a distributed deployment, you can have the  following combination of nodes on your network:
•Primary and secondary Administration nodes for high availability
•A pair of Monitoring nodes for automatic failover
•One or more Policy Service nodes for session failover
•A pair of Inline Posture nodes for high availability
    1. No, As per my understanding All your clients authenticate with primary ISE.
    2. When Primary ISE is down then:
When the primary Administration ISE node becomes unavailable, we must log into the secondary Administration ISE node and promote it to become the primary Administration ISE node. There is no automatic failover for the AdministrationISE node.- Means High Avilability )
In case the primary Monitoring ISE node goes down, the secondary Monitoring ISE node automatically
becomes the primary Monitoring ISE node.

  • Cisco ASA - Invert primary/secondary

    Hello
This is my first post in this forum.
I haven't found an answear to my issue, so I decided to open a new discussion
We take care of 2 Cisco ASA 5580 (primary/secondary) working as usual (active/standby). Image version 8.2.5.
Today I found that the firewall that has been supposed to rule as primary, actually has been the secondary and vice-versa.
How can I configure (and what's the impact, as they are active im customer/business environment) to invert the situation: the primary become the secondary and the secondary become the primary.
I'm not talking about to perform a failover, but a config to fix that confusion with roles.
    Regards
    Christian

    Hi,
    Welcome to the CSC
Since we are talking about an Active/Standby ASA Failover environment then configuring the "primary" and "secondary" in the "failover" configurations of the ASAs doesnt to my understanding have much meaning to the firewall operation other than deciding which becomes Active WHEN they BOTH boot at the same time.
If we for example have the below situation
We have ASA1 and ASA2 in Active/Standby Failover
ASA1 is configured as "primary" and ASA2 is configured as "secondary"
ASA1 is originally the Active unit and ASA2 the Standby unit
Now lets assume that either ASA1 boots or becomes Standby because of one of its interfaces failing THEN to my understanding there is NO mechanism in the Active/Standby Failover that would return the Active role back to the ASA1 when it becomes operational.
However in the case of Active/Active Failover its possible to configure a "preempt" parameter that defines that the unit that you have decided as the Active unit will return to Active role after network outage after a configured perioid of time. This is NOT possible on Active/Standby.
So in normal networking operation to my understanding the only way to really keep the preferred physical ASA as Active is to monitor the Failover and manually set the original physical ASA Active if there has been a failover.
There doesnt seem to be any automatic mechanism for the Active role to return to the original Active physical ASA.
IF you are just talking about changing the commands "failover lan unit primary" and "failover lan unit secondary" to the correct physical ASAs THEN sadly I can't say for sure (without testing) what effect configuring those commands have (when changing them around). I'd presume that changing these wont have any effect on the operation of the firewall as in production they DONT actually decide which unit STAYS Active
According to the Command Reference of 8.2 software the default setting is Secondary
I imagine you could possibly do the following (But cant say for 100% certainty without testing it myself)
remove the possible configuration "failover lan unit secondary" from the other unit
remove the "failover lan unit primary" from the other unit
configure the "failover lan unit primary" on the correct unit
And finally if you want configure the other unit with the "secondary" option (even though the default setting should be secondary according to the command reference)
Maybe I'll try to check if I have a identical Failover pair of ASA (physical) to test this out for you.
Heres link to the Command Reference for 8.2 software and the command "failover lan unit"

    Hope the information was helpfull.

  • Cisco 5508 HA VS Primary/Secondary- Feedback

Anyone having issues with 5508 HA switching between the pair? Would you say that the Primary/secondary fail over is good enough?

    Hi Leo, Scott
So I was doing a bit more reading on this http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wireless-lan-wlan/69639-wlc-failover.html it is an old document but working through it the document suggested that you didn't need to specify the IP address of the Primary or Secondary controller in the Wireless -> All AP -> AP_NAME -> High Availability. I removed this from one of the APs that was at the time serving no clients and tried to move it to the secondary and it worked. I then moved it back to the primary and it worked again.
Any reason why this would happen? The IP addresses I was using were 100% correct. The only difference I see for this controller as opposed to others we manage is the introduction of new interface types i.e. 'redundancy management' , 'redundancy port' ,etc. I do not have redundancy enabled so I'm guessing not, but having trawled through the configuration this is the only difference I can see?

  • What makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?

I wonder what makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?The project I am working on is on my local disks which are backed up (daily) to external eSATA enclosure. If I run FCP X just by clicking its icon (not a project file) in most cases it opens FCP X with a project but in event library there is not files linked.Sometimes it expands the project’s library located on backup station.
To make active the the local version (get it expanded and access all the files related to the project, I have to: close FCP X, launch FCP X by click on a project or a library file, close FCP X again and then I can get the project and its content displayed correctly just by clicking on a FCP X icon.
After backup is made (I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup this volume) if I relaunch my FCP X, I have to start the procedure mentioned above all over again. What I am doing wrong?

Munas, what you describes sounds a lot like the problem I've been experiencing.
I have two matching external drives mounted. Drive 1 is the primary, Drive 2 is an identical back-up. Both identically formatted.
FCPX randomly opens drive 2 when I start the program, even when I click on a sidebar link to a project on Drive 1. The clips are often, nonsensically, shown as off-line.
I really don’t care if FCPX recognizes drive 2, in fact I wish it wouldn’t. I don’t, obviously, want to unmount Drive 2 just to use FCPX.
My workaround for this was to rename the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Project folders “FCE” and “FCP” respectively on Drive 2, and configure my back up utility accordingly.
Now, although Drive 2 is listed in the Events and Project Libraries on start up, FCPX doesn’t recognize any events or projects on it, and it sits there as an icon that can’t be expanded.  I can live with this until a fix comes, in fact I rather like it.
    Cheers

  • Primary & Secondary Languages?

    Hi,
What is the differentce between primary and Secondary langues with inheritence and current langues?
    Thanks In advance
    Vijay

    hi,
    Primary & secondary languages:
Repository can be maintained in multiple languages. In the console we will define in how many languages repository is maintained ( 3 0r 4 languages), you can maintain N number of language layers. when ever you are logging into the repostory using language English, if it is not maintained it will be opened in other language in the order you maintained in the repository.  we can compare the data in different languages, colour coding.
MDM multilingual support fully addresses all of the requirements for multiple languages side-by-side within a single MDM repository. It starts with an end-to-end Unicode implementation that supports both Western and Eastern languages, reflects a data model with multiple language layers that avoids data duplication while ensuring data
integrity, and features an innovative user interface that offers flexibility and efficiency during the entry, editing, browsing, and publishing of multilingual data.
An individual MDM repository can be defined as storing data for an effectively unlimited number of languages, chosen from a list of languages and locales recognized by the system (e.g. English [US] and English [UK]), including both western European and Eastern languages.
