3600N no longer prints color, only grayscale ... Vista SP2 download the culprit?

I have the 3600N connected to my home net via its USB port thru a D-Link DP-300U print server. It has been working fine since I first installed it last Fall. I use it very little, having printed less than pages.
I started it today for the first time in over a month and found that color printjobs sent from my primary (Vista Ultimate) system only print in grayscale. A check of 2 other systems on the net (both XP Pro) determined that the problem was Vista-system-specific.
Last week I downloaded the Vista SP2 offering so I now suspect that as the culprit.
Later tonight, when I can find the time, I intend to nuke the current installation on my Vista system and do a fresh re-install.
Hopefully, that will solve the issue.
Has anyone else heard of Vista SP2 turning other color printers into monchromes?

One thing that I forgot to mention ... in Properties on the Advanced page, Image Color Management is set to Disabled and grayed-out so that the setting cannot be changed.
And , nope, haven't had time to Nuke & ReInstall yet ... hopefully, later today.

    I have an (obsolete) Windows XP, SP3 computer.  Obviously, no updates from Microsoft
    have occurred that might have impacted my Canon Pixma MX479.
    When I attempt to send 1 or more pages from a PDF file to the printer, I don't even get the
    Canon PIXMA popup that would allow me to cancel the print job.
    Yet the Print Queue icon appears in the lower right corner of my monitor.
    If I view the Print Queue, the print queue shows "spooling" and does nothing more.
    If I attempt to CANCEL the print job in the Print Queue, it simply changes to "deleting -
    spooling".
    I cannot cancel the print job that shows NOT RESPONDING via Task Manager, either.
    In fact, the only way the Print Queue icon disappears is if I totally reboot my computer!
    "Luckily", I can still print e-mails, Word documents, and even my downloaded PDF of my
    bank statement.
    So, I was thinking that it was *only* PIXMA'S OWN SCANNED PDFS that could not be
    printed ON THE SAME PIXMA 479.
    However, I have since realized that I also cannot print USPS Signature Proof of Delivery
    PDFs that I received from USPS via e-mail.
    So why can I print *some* PDF files, but not *all* PDF files, like I previously could do?
    THESE SCANS ARE OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS, SO I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO E-MAIL
    THE REQUISITE, PREVIOUSLY SCANNED PDFS TO FEDEX TO PAY FOR *THEM*
    TO PRINT THEM.
    NOTE: I *have* tried turning the PIXMA off, unplugging it, rebooting the computer, plugging
    the PIXM in and restarting the PIXMA - still no ability to print PIXMA-scanned PDFs.
    And, I find it very strange that e-mails, Word documents, and some other PDFs print with
    no problem "around" "NOT RESPONDING" PIXMA print jobs.
    I have owned Canon printers for years, including the MX420, and the MX340.

    There may be some security issues related to the USPS PDFs.

    I can't help with the scan/print problem. You seem to have done everything I would try.
    I don't know if maybe using a registry cleaner would help.

Setup installs iTunes in the 32 bit application directory (Program Files x86) - it's not all that unusual to run a 32 bit app under a 64 bit OS - BUT whenever I connect any of my iPhones, I get an error message that say I cannot use the iPhone because the 64 bit version of iTunes is not installed.  The message then tells me to de-install iTunes and to install the 64 bit version.
    Like I say, the 64 bit Setup version is selected for me, and it runs error-free, but I seem to have no control or ability to force the installation of a 64 bit iTunes app.  And all the iPhones are inoperative with the 32 bit version I have.  I have another PC, which I have held at an earlier iTunes release. Although it's a notebook, it's identical in every other way (OS & installed utilities and apps) to the desktop that has developed the problem, and my iPhones work fine with it, although iTunes on it is at the earlier release, and I have no intention of upgrading that version until I understand and have corrected the problem.

    This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes.
    That usually indicates that your Apple Mobile Device Support has not installed. That's also what is being shown by the diagnostics (the driver is there but the application isn't).
    Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
    (If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
    Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
    If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    If so please sign out and sign back in to the Apps page. That should switch the links from Try to Download. If not please try clearing the browser cache and cookies and then trying again.

    I blame myself for upgrading to Mavericks from Snow Leopard, but there's no going back now...All my documents (MSWord, Adobe) print in black and white.  I cannot find the settings to configure color printing (or draft, or fast draft) like I had in Snow Leopard.  I've clicked on every button in the printer dialog box from within both applications and can't figure out how to set the print quality or color.  I just updated OS X 10.9.4, and restarted.  I downloaded the latest HP patch for J6480 (as at 7/9/14) and restarted.  Many thanks, in advance, for showing me the way!

    OK, I removed the printer, then used Disk Utility to verify permissions on my hard drive.  Only about 6 kabillion permissions were out of whack, and many of them included the word 'printer.'  So I repaired permissions, and then reverified, and one more needed repair.  So after repairing that, I restarted, and then added the printer, and printed this web page 'Two-Sided.'  The Paper Type / Quality selection box now appears, and within that screen, 'Color Options' is now a subtle tiny option near the bottom of the dialog box, but I clicked it, selected ColorSmart / sRGB, and clicked 'Print.'
    >>YIPPEE!<<
    I now have color printing!  On both sides of the paper!  And it printed my pdf and MSWord 2010 documents in color, too. 
    How come this only lets me click 'thumbs up +' only once?  You should get a click for each of the 6 kabillion permission errors!

    My Officejet Pro 6500 (A909) will no longer print in color.  I've done all the basic checks - print cartridges full, clean/align print heads, etc. to no avail.   I've restarted the device as well.  The all-in-one is less than a year old and did print color documents initially.  But now, it will on print in black and white.  I'm using the same computers as before when it would print in color.  What could be causing this and how to fix it?   Thanks

    Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue. 
    For best results
    Verify that your iOS device is using the latest version of iOS available and that the app you're printing from isup to date.
    Make sure that your AirPrint printer has the latest firmware version installed. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.
    AirPrint printers connected to Wi-Fi networks work with iOS. AirPrint printers connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet networks work with OS X.
    Wi-Fi capable AirPrint printers must be connected to the same home Wi-Fi network as your iOS device or Mac.
    If you are unable to print
    Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found":
    Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed.
    Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
    Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.
    Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed.
    Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer.

Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.

    It sounds like you have some tracks that did not complete and will not play. I recommend deleting the affected content from your computer and then re downloading them to your computer from the iTunes store free of charge with this article:
