3750x2 Disable loop guard and the effect on connectivity

Hello,
I have two building about 500 yards apart. They are connected via a Lightpointe FSO (Free Space Optics) Laser and Airbridge (802.11n RF) point to point bridge. The transport up to the head is done via a multimode fiber optic cable.
When the signal level is good, FSO can achieve the full 1gbps link between buildings. When the signal level falls below a definable threshold (in my case 250 mV), the Airbridge 802.11n RF point to point takes over. This runs in the 5 GHz band on a 40 MHz channel, theoretic speed of 144 to 300mbps.
The issue I have is when this failover occurs, the switch port will go into Loopguard_block and the remote building is dead in the water. I happened to be over there today when this occurred and my quick fix was to unplug the fiber and plug it back in. I since changed the thresholds and widened the window for the Laser to RF failover. If the signal is below 250 mV, it fails over to RF. It does not attempt to return to Laser until the signal hits 350 mV. This "deadband" of 100 mV is to prevent flapping. Previously it was a low of 250 and a high of 300. So hopefully this helps.
However if I were to want to disable Loop Guard, can I do it and what kind of ill effects would that have - if any? Would I do this at both endpoints, or just the remote location? The other end is our HQ and it goes right into the core switch stack (a group of 3750 switches).

Physical connectivity:
Cat6 cable solely for powering (not connected to switch - connected to Lightpointe 48vdc power injector)
multimode fiber cable connected to Lightpointe FSO head.
FSO head has a cat 5e data port that passes power and data to a ubiquiti AirOS 5 powered nanostation (they brand this Airbridge).
Something internally in the FSO linkhead shifts the data flow to the ubiquity nanostation (and back) automatically. Regardless of this activity, all data traverses that multimode fiber. We do not handle any type of routing as the Lightpointe unit does it itself. It is supposed to look like an ethernet handoff.
We use VLAN44 (192.168.4.1) as a transport network and the switches are in layer 3 mode.

On a Cisco 3750x2 L3 switch, would there be any special port config statements to mitigate this? Should not be needed, but you can turn off Spanning Tree since the redundancy is being handled by the laser / RF combination on the roof.
So if I put spanning-tree portfast on the uplink port at the HQ and at the Remote side, that would effectively turn off spanning tree and prevent the port from going into loopguard? Am I correct? If the hardware on the roof handles 100% of the laser or RF mode of operation, then I don't need the Cisco switch to intervene. Thoughts?

I have the exact same problem! I sent the discs into my local Apple Center so they could check the discs. A month later I get them back by mail and an e-mail that says "there is no problem with the discs, therefore it must be a problem with you system". Not very helpful, and it took forever before they got time to check the discs. Pretty ****** off by now...
EDIT: It is probably worth mentioning that I get an error when installing LiveType 1B at about 4% of installing, that says "there were errors installing, please try again". I am installing the LiveType content on my LaCie 250GB USB external hard drive, although I have already tried installing the content on the built in hard drive as well..

Disconnect the iPad, do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!, reconnect and follow the prompts.

I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open. It also needs to be on the same network. My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not. He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band. Hope this helps.

If I understand the issue correctly, you have recently purchased a used iPhone and you do not see your Apple TV in the control center in order to AirPlay. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps outlined below.
Try these steps first
Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV.
Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network.
If you're trying to use peer-to-peer AirPlay, make sure that both devices have Bluetooth turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Bluetooth.
If you don't see AirPlay in Control Center
When an AirPlay-enabled device is available, you'll see AirPlay in Control Center on your iOS device.
If you don't, try these steps:
Restart your iOS device and Apple TV.
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network. If your Apple TV is connected using Ethernet, make sure that it’s plugged in to the router you're using for Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, make sure that AirPlay is turned on. Go to Settings > AirPlay.

Error The PC and the printer are connected to different networks

I'm trying to set up my C4580 on my laptop, but I'm getting the following error after the diagnostic test:
The PC and the printer are connected to different networks(237DB2A87D and 66616B65). They must be connected to the same network. This can happen when you use the manufacturer's default network name (SSID) and another nearby network is using the same name.
My setup is a Linksys router WRT546, my laptop is conntected wireless to the router. I have two other desktop computers that are directly connected to the router. Both the desktops are able to connect wireless to the printer. My router SSID name is 'Blair Office' with WPA security.
I get a internet connect fine with the laptop, but can't get the new printer to setup.
I saw another post that talked about 'Print the C45** Network Configuration Page', but not sure how to do this

This reply may be late for this user, but it might be helpful for any current users.
I managed to change the modem's IP address to match that of the printer. In my case the printer worked fine wirelessly until I moved to a new place and installed a new modem. Here is what I did to solve the problem:
1. At the printer, click on the wireless button, wireless settings, print network configuration page. This will print a page with the printer's IP address (in my case: 192.168.0.13)
2. I accessed my modem via the internet browser, typing 192.168.1.1 (this is one of the default addresses (192.168.0.1 is also common). Default user and password is admin (usually). There I changed the modem's IP address to 192.168.0.1 and the range to start at 192.168.0.13 (my printer's IP address).
3. I saved the settings (the modem will reboot and you will be offline, it may take some 20 seconds before the modem is visible again).
4. Reconnect to the modem and check if internet is still working. Then try to install the printer again.
This worked for me after I read several other postings.

I am interested in the iPhone 6 but have several meetings that have to call into for work. Where can I find out about the compatibility with iPhone 6 and if there are issues I need to be aware of for connecting to hands free option in the car?
Please point me to the right direction. The dealership was useless in helping me. I figured Verizon can be more helpful.

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

How do I get loops to keep the effect settings I hear when previewing?

When I place loops into a new track, the effects settings go away and it is simply a dry signal. How can I move a loop from the browser into a new track and have it keep the effects settings that I hear when I preview the loop?

If you drag a green MIDI loop onto the Arrange window space, it should create a Software instrument track with all the required plug-ins for the sound, so don't drag it to an already existing Software instrument track.
If you drag it to an audio track it will convert it to an audio file, so obviously the instrument/fx plug-ins wont be in the channel strip.

Can I view the browser window and the effects window at the same time?

I just got a second monitor to complement my 24" iMac, and would like to take advantage of it by having the effects window and the browser window with all my clips open at the same time. Anyone know if this is possible?

I think you just need to grab the Effects tab and drag it out of the Browser onto your extra monitor (though I could be wrong).

How do I revert back to the old operating system? The new upgrade that came out totally disabled my WiFi and the default backgrounds changed to white instead of bla k.

An upgrade was sent to my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone on 3/27/15 and it ruined my phone. I no longer have the ability to Wi-Fi. When I swipe the phone on there is a clicking sound and the scree goes directly to my keypad. I want the phone to go to my home screen like it did before. My apps that had a black background now have a white background which is impossible to see outdoors. I want the black background back for settings, clock, and calculator. Samsung tech support says this stuff is default with the new upgrade. How do I revert back to the version I had before without having to put the phone back to factory settings and lose all my pictures, memos and other files I have accumulated over the last year that I have had the phone. You cannot revert back without voiding warranty and we cannot discuss the methods to do so.

Changing the name of the computer and the effect on Time Machine?

I have a new iMac and used my MacBook Pro's Time Machine backup to migrate over. Everything works fine and the entire system, settings, everything are just like on my MBP, plus whatever was needed to make the wireless kb and mouse work. So that's all fine.
The only thing is, the name of the computer is also DougMacBookPro.
I have a 1TB drive I freshly formatted for Time Machine backups just for this new machine. The old backup on a portable USB drive still exists for when my MBP comes back from repairs (portable Time Machine for travel).
Anyway, to my question. In the 1TB new Time Machine drive, the name of the backup folder is Backups.backupdb > DougMacBookPro.
I probably should have changed the name of the computer prior to doing my first Time Machine backup. And I can always start over since I only have half a day of backups anyway.
But my question is, what happens if I change my computer name now, after Time Machine has already started backing up? Will it rename the folder? Will it create a whole new folder, thus wasting all the space from the initial backup?

Is it possible and legal to disable home button and the screenshot feature in an ipad app?

I am being asked to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done, also it must prevent the use of screenshot feature and the home button. Is this possible? Is this legal? In case of this not being legal what would happen (in legal terms) if I do develop it?

It's impossible to develop an iPad app that can't be closed until some actions are done. The iPad programmer cannot override what happens when the user presses the 'Home' button. The 'Home' button will always tell the front application to go to the background, and if that application doesn't cooperate within a reasonable time it will be terminated.
Bear in mind that an iPad is an overgrown iPhone. It's always possible that someone will phone you up when you're running an app, and the app must release control and let you answer that phonecall.
I suggest you discuss the design philosophy with whoever wants the application, remembering that computers are meant to help us do what we want to do, not boss us about.

Why won't my iPod work on iTunes or my computer? It shows up (not on iTunes) and the iPod shows connected but it has to be "formatted." And why are half my songs unable to play on it anymore? It just skips them!

I've read through several discussions and I've seen a lot of similar issues but none that were quite like mine. Every time I plug my 3rd gen. iPod nano in it shows it connected on the iPod screen and iTunes opens up but the device does not show up in iTunes. The icon on the iPod shows connected and gives the arrows circling showing syncing even though it still says connected. But it won’t show up in iTunes. It shows up on my windows computer but I can’t click it or make it do anything. It keeps saying “You need to format the disk before you can do anything.” And when I hit cancel it beeps and says "Location not available. Dara error (cyclic redundancy check)." As if I know what that means!! And I have 800 songs on it but they aren’t all on my computer and some are on my parents’ computer but I can’t get to that one. It shows it is a “FAT32” which I have no clue what that means but I’ve never noticed that before.
Windows "can't access the disk" and I don't know why. It gives me that notification if I try to check the drive or disk or device for problems. And if you click it on Windows it pops up a screen with formatting things (which I don't know anything about). And then it closes and says that it CANNOT format the device.
The iPod works almost okay when it isn’t plugged in, but I’ve noticed that half my songs won’t play. You click on it and it plays the next one in the album. And it isn’t always the first song in an album but random songs. And songs I listen to a lot. You can’t go back (you can only go forward and you can’t skip over the ‘missing’ song) or even click to select those songs. But other songs play normal, just not half of them that are on the iPod but all of a sudden no longer work. And I don’t know why. I have another 3rd gen. iPod nano that doesn’t have ANY of these problems. It hooks up, it doesn’t need formatting, and all its songs play. I don’t know what is wrong or what to do. I’ve tried re-downloading iTunes and everything. I don’t want to have to reset my iPod and lose everything.
I’ve tried locating the device in iTunes and it shows the iPod but it gives this weird symbol and I can’t select it. It’s like a white box with a box that is outlined in blue with six random icons in the middle. I’ve seen it before and it always means something is wrong or a file (which is where I have seen it before) is corrupted. And like I said I have a second iPod nano of the same generation and it does not give this weird symbol. Plus it connects just fine. It’s this one iPod.
I don’t understand what is going on. It worked just fine and then all of a sudden I noticed songs wouldn’t play so I went to plug it into iTunes and nothing has worked. I’ve searched discussions and none of the tips help. But I want my songs to play again and I want my iPod back.
