    Hi Hugo,
The only time you can get an ISR G1 (except 870) to boot from USB is when you have upgraded the bootstrap to 12.4(13r)T15.
The command to boot from USB is a hidden command.  From ROMmon the command is "boot usbflash0:IOS_filename.bin".

  • Cisco Network Assistant Will Not Connect to 3825 Router Using http

Trying to use the CNA to connect to my 3825 router, in preparation for 2960x switches we are going to purchase. I cannot connect using http - read/write. It seems as though the username and password fail. I can however, connect Read – only Level 1, and the username and password work fine and I am logged in. Is there something I can check in the Router configuration for the Network Assistant to work?
    Thanks

It will be helpful for other community members to know the solution and cause, if can be shared.

  • 3825 Router Upgrade

    Hi,
I have a 3825 router with base config of 64MB CF and 256MB DRAM, both of which we wish to upgrade to 512MB CF and 1024MB DRAM.
I have requested from a local distributor to quote for these upgrades and they came back with the following parts numbers:
    MEM3800-256U1024D
    MEM3800-64U512CF
Now on placing the order for these items, the distributor comes back to me to say that we cannot order for the MEM3800-64U512CF alone, I am still yet to understand why.
But when I went to check out the specification of the router on the Cisco website, its written that the maximum the 3800 series CF can be upgraded to is 256MB (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5855/prod_qas0900aecd8016a953.html).
Could someone kindly explain to me whether or not we can actually upgrade this router's CF to 512MB?
    Regards,
    Femi

    Hi,
I seem to be having conflicting information from the Cisco website.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5855/prod_qas0900aecd8016a953.html - This webpage, under MEMORY section confirms that the base config of a 3825 is One 64-MB Compact Flash, one 256-MB DDR-SDRAM with ECC
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5855/product_data_sheet0900aecd8016a8e8.html - This webpage says the default config is 128MB CF and 512MB DDR-SDRAM
I know for sure that my router comes with the 64MB CF and 256MB SDRAM, both of which I intend to upgrade to 512MB and 1024MB respectively. What I would like to know is what modules do I purchase to help achieve this goal?

  • RPS 2300 and 3825 router.

Hello I have an RPS 2300 connected to the front of a 3825 router. When the main power (internal power supply) of the 3825, it stays on after switching to the RPS 2300 power, but if the internal power supply of the 3825 gets its power back, it does not switch back. How do I make it switch back to its internal power with out rebooting the router?

    Hi,
    I'll quote from the manual:
"The switch connected to the RPS 2300 might restart when it changes from RPS power to its internal power. We recommend that you first divert switch traffic to an alternate switch to avoid data loss. This does not occur on the Catalyst 3750-E or Catalyst 3560-E switches."
It's not very impressive when a vendor says something might restart, and this certainly isn't what you wanted to hear, but it looks like that's the way it works.

    Andrew.

  • Connecting MSTP 15454 and 3825 Router

    HI,
For deploying DWDM topology,we want to connect two MSTP 15454 switches with each other and Two Cisco 3825 router with MSTP 15454 switch.
Following modules and interfaces are available.
    Router 3825 :
    NM-1A-OC3-POM
    SFP-OC3-LR1
    MSTP 15454:
    15454E-MRC-2.5G12
    ONS-SI-155-5R-MM.
Now any additional card, module or interface is required to fulfill the requirement.
    Thanks in advance.

OK. Then, as another person pointed out, you will need to make sure the optics on the 3825 and the 15454 match. Right now you are using Long reach Optics on the 3825 (SFP-OC3-LR1) and Short Reach Optics on the 15454 (ONS-SI-155-SR-MM). Once these match you should be able to fullfill your requirement.

  • Control Plane Policy not allowing ssh on my 3825 router

I have complaints for a downstream customer trying to connect to my network. He is the only one connecting to hosts via ssh. He is showing up hitting the 3rd party (Mcaffee Sidewinder Firewall) between the 2 Cisco 3825 routers but with the bytes stripped out.  I started looking at the control plane policy and believe it is the culprit. He is the only host I need to get in through the router (WAN) via this protocol/port. What do I need to change in order to allow him through?

BTW, don't know why but the **** above should have read k - n - o - b.  Probably the decorum police checking in...

  • 3825 and 3845 router duplex issue?

We are currently having a new 10Mbps "LANLink" service installed in our office. Our WAN provider terminates in our comms room on a Lucent MUX, which then connects via RJ45 Ethernet to our Cisco 3825 router.
Our provider has asked us to set our router to 10Mb/full duplex. However, when we do, the Gigabit Ethernet interface on our 3825 goes down. If I set the interface to autonegotiate, it resolves to 10/half. Traffic will run at 10/half, but with muchos collisions.
We have exactly that same problem at the other end of the line, on a 3845 router. The router interface will only come up when running half duplex.
The engineer has been in and proved to me that the Lucent MUX is running 10/full. We have also switched out the ethernet cables a number of times.
We have stabilised the line somewhat by running all Lucent and Cisco equipment at half duplex. But surely there's a fix for this?
The interface config is shown below. Can anyone tell me what the 'negotiate auto' line means - despite 'speed 10' and 'duplex half' commands elsewhere?
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
description **Colt LANLink - London City Office**
    ip address 192.168.254.246 255.255.255.252
    duplex half
    speed 10
    media-type rj45
    negotiation auto
    service-policy output llq
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi Ankur -
    Thanks for posting.
That's why I was confused - the 'negotiation auto' was already in the config when the router arrived. I don't see why it's even necessary: surely it's either 'duplex half/full/auto' and 'speed 10/100/1000/auto'? Why do Cisco need to provide another command for 'negotiation?

Symptoms: Cisco IP phone users may experience dropped calls, resetting phones, and one-way audio.
Conditions: These symptoms are observed on a Cisco 3825 router that is running Cisco IOS Release 15.1(1)T and CME 8.0 when there are 4 or more active calls. The symptoms occur with the following topology:
Router/ PBX ---pri---- CISCO3825 ----sccp---- ip phone.
It is a normal external call: PSTN <-----> IP phone calls.
Workaround: Install Cisco IOS Release 12.4(15)XZ2 or another release earlier than Release 15.n.

I would recommend opening a TAC case and referecing the defect you think you're experiencing.  You should be able to work with the assigned engineer to resolve the issue.

  • 3825 FXO Port remains in off-hook after call

    Hello,
I have a 3825 router with 8 FXO ports running Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2). The problem we are facing is that after a call is placed through any of the FXO ports and the call is ended by the user, the port remains in off-hook till a reset of the port is done or someone restarts the router. Only then is the port accessible again.
I am thinking of changing the cards, but i do not want to invest in replacing the cards and then find out that this doesnt solve the problem.
The wierd thing is that this issue started on its own accord not too long ago.
    Comments and suggestions please!
    Regards,
    Femi

    Hello,
I do not want to change the FXO card till I am sure that is the problem and I did state that I always have to reboot the router when the problem starts. Rebooting clears the problem but it is back immediately I attempt a call again and hang up that call.

  • How to implement redundant with 1 CE router to 2 MPLS service providers

    Dear all,
Our head-office are currently have 1 Cisco CPE 3825 router with 2 WAN connections to our branches. We are now using static routing protocol in our network infrastructure, we consider how to implement the redundancy for networks by the redundant circuits connection to 2 MPLS providers, only when the primary connection to the primary MPLS L3 provider fail, the backup link to the second MPLS Layer 2 provider automatically active. Anybody knows where can I find information, tips or examples, how we'd handle the routing for that?
    We are now have:
1 G0/1 interface connect to primary MPLS L3 Provider (the 2nd G0/2 interface is a leased-line connection to our partner, and we not consider here)
1 HWIC (layer 2) card, with 4 ports, which has interface F0/2/3 connected to the backup MPLS Layer 2 provider.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mr jianqu,
Because of our customer now has 2 main central offices, and all other sub branches are now connected to each of these main central office via one primary full-meshed MPLS VPN of 1st Service Provider, so If I use the float static routes, and when there is a failure at one link at a CENTRAL CE Router to primary link to primary MPLS VPN Service Provider, but still there is no failure at the other site from a router CE sub branch with the the PE of the primary full-meshed MPLS VPN Layer 3 Service Provider,so It cannot cause a failover to a second redundant link of the 2nd Service Provider?
So with our system, do we only have one solution like this:
-Configure BGP as the routing protocol between the CE and the PE routers.
-Use local preference and Multi Exit Discriminator (MED) when running BGP inside a our customer VPN to select the primary and backup links.
-Use AS-override feature to support overlapping AS numbers between customer sites

  • SNMP OID to get active static NAT number of a router

    Hello,
I try to get by SNMP the number of active one-to-one NAT translations of a 3825 router.
I only find the way to get the number of active PAT translations with the OID  1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.77.1.2.3.0.
But il does not work for one-to-one active NAT translations.
Does anyone have a solution to get that ?
    Thanks
    Julien

    Hi Julien,
I have done some search and found (internally) that this counter is not supported, there was an enhancement request filed to have it but it's not in the pipe so I don't believe it will be any time soon. The "workaround" explicitly specify to use the CLI command...
However, if you are running a 3800 series with a recent IOS version, I believe you may have support for EEM scripts and custom SNMP MIBs. A good workaround for you might be to use the following script:
    http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/EEM?page=eem&fn=script&scriptId=1741
Check the TCL file header for an example on how to configure it, you'll need to specify all the variables needed among which those two:
event manager environment match_cmd show ip nat stat
event manager environment match_pattern .*Total active translations: ([0-9]+) .*
The value of the counter should appear in 1.3.6.1.2.1.90.1.2.1.1.3.5.99.105.115.99.111.7.99.117.115.116.111.109.49

  • IPS on an 1841 vs 3825

I am new to IPS applications and was wondering if there was any difference in the IPS software I have installed on my 1841 router vs the IPS software on a 3825 router I am looking into purchasing. On the 1841 I am using the IOS c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-21.bin and on the 3825 c3825-advsecurityk9-mz.124-3j.bin

The functionality of the IPS software and the signature selection is the same between those two platforms. But IPS processing takes a toll on both CPU and memory. The 3825 will have more of these resources available and could handle a larger amount of traffic as a result.
