3945 router boots up with old IOS

I am trying to upgrade IOS on 3945 router to 152-4.M6 version. even boot system command pointing to the new IOS router still boots up with old image.
also verified the new IOS and checksum is ok. any idea why

Thanks for your reply. I have found the problem.
the model I am trying to upgrade do not support c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.152-4.M6 rather c3900e-universalk9-mz.SPA.152-4.M6. Found the issue when testing in the lab.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Can I restore my 3GS with old iOS?

My 3GS has iOS 4.3.1, it frequently drops calls and fails to conect to 3G or WiFi connections. I restored it as a "new" phone to ensure the backup was not corrupt etc. No joy.
I have not seen anything stating 4.3.2 will fix the bugs I have experienced.
Purely by chance I was clearing my pc's recycle bin and found a few old iOS sitting there and snatched them up quick,
    "iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore"
Apple Device Software Update File (.ipsw)
    401 MB (420,813,164 bytes)
    I also have 4.3 saved.
How can I restore the phone using one of these versions as my phone ran like a champ with these versions?

Once you have updated your phone to the latest firmware, you can't downgrade. Just because you happen to have found the previous .ipsw files doesn't mean it will let you downgrade. Once you update your phone, you are stuck with that firmware. You can try googling how to go back to previous update.

  • HT4972 new iPad with old iOS

I recently got a new iPad because my first one died. I was given an iPad with iOS4, but my previous iPad had iOS5. Now I am unable to sync my new iPad because it has as an earlier iOS version. Does anyone know how to update to iOS5 without first syncing?

With iOS 4 you can only update when connected to a computer's iTunes (with iOS 5+ installed you can then update directly on the iPad) - connect the iPad to your computer, select it on the left-hand side of iTunes and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side click the Check For Updates button

  • How can I boot Cisco1841 with USB Drive instead of CF?

    Hello
I need to boot Cisco1841 with USB Drive instead of Compact Flash but I don't know what should I do.
I heard I need to format USB Drive with FAT and need to save IOS on the USB Drive.
Before boot, Need to set config register ? I am not sure which parameter should I set config register in detail.
Please let me know if there is URL describing thease steps from the beginning.

         Q. What sizes of USB Flash sticks are supported?
         A. USB Flash sticks are supported in 64, 128, and 256 MB sizes. No other sizes are supported.
         Q. Can I use any USB memory stick for this application?
         A. No. Only Cisco USB memory sticks are supported.
    Q. Can I boot an image directly from the USB Flash module?
    A. Yes. USB drivers have been added to rommon, starting with version 12.4(13r)
         Q. Can I format the USB Flash module on the router?
    A. Yes. You can format the module on either a router or a PC. You must  specify "FAT16 file system" as the file system for the PC format process  to use.
If your setup satisfies above conditions you can get the router to boot up with the IOS on the USB flash
If you are in ROMMON mode, use 'dev' to find out the name of the USB Flash (should be usbflash0).
    set BOOT=usbflash0:
If you are in the router,
    boot system flash usbflash0:

  • 3945 Router Issue between WAAS Module and IOS Firewall

I have a new 3945 router with a SM-SRE-900 module for WAAS. The 3945 also has IP inspection configured. When IP inspection and WCCP redirection running at the same time, user connections to data center were all lost. If just IP inspection or WCC Rredirection but not both, user connections were good.
I'm feeling the problem is IP inspection not WAAS aware. I tried "ip inpsect waas enable", but the command was not available. The 3945 router, SM-SRE module, and the IOS code, are all newest versions. So I was wondering if anyone has seen the similar issues and had experience of enabling WAAS through IP inspection on those new products.
    Here is the configuration info:
    3945 G2 ISR: IOS 15.1(1)T1;
    SM-SRE-900: WAAS 4.2.3 build7;
3945 LAN interface: ip inspection in and ip wccp 61 redirect in
3945 WAN interface: ip wccp 62 redirect in
3945 SM 1/0 interface: internal connection to SM-SRE module
Between 3945 and SM-SRE module: WCCP GRE redirection and IP Forwarding return.
If you are aware of any 15.1(1)T1 bugs that may be related, please let me know too.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
This is in general for IOS / ISR. On CCO we have a very good document for ZBFW and WAAS intigration, see below
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/sec_data_plane/configuration/guide/sec_zone_polcy_firew_ps10592_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1118498
If you still need to run CBAC, then recommended solution in my first post should work for you.
If the router is in the middle of TCP optamization path, then depending upon optamization product you need to configure the firewall feature like anyother firewall. for Cisco WAAS we have "ip inspect WAAS enable".
Hope this has answer your question. Thanks.

  • I have updated to the ios7 and i used the reminders on the old ios to organise everything, now with the update reminders is not doin what its supposed to do......" Remind "

Any help would be great! , if i could turn back to the old ios somehow? Or when are they going to rectify it to work like it did before?
having to manually set a alarm for every reminder is a pain in the asset! Its core task is to remind! Also removing the calender on the side is a mistake
as its a very quick way to drop notes for the month, being a sales rep this was the best function on the pad! I have tried to find a alternative apps but havent had any luck, if nothing gets fixed with this app then it has only become a awkward note taker....let me know if you have found something!? Thanks

    Try the following:
    1. Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo.

Symptoms: Cisco IP phone users may experience dropped calls, resetting phones, and one-way audio.
Conditions: These symptoms are observed on a Cisco 3825 router that is running Cisco IOS Release 15.1(1)T and CME 8.0 when there are 4 or more active calls. The symptoms occur with the following topology:
Router/ PBX ---pri---- CISCO3825 ----sccp---- ip phone.
It is a normal external call: PSTN <-----> IP phone calls.
Workaround: Install Cisco IOS Release 12.4(15)XZ2 or another release earlier than Release 15.n.

I would recommend opening a TAC case and referecing the defect you think you're experiencing.  You should be able to work with the assigned engineer to resolve the issue.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

You cannot bypass this security measure. You need to recover your AppleID from appleID.apple.com
If you can't send the password recovery to a secondary email, contact Apple Support.

IOS 5.01 with my 3GS is rubbish - How do I revert to any old IOS ?

    Thank you for your answers.
The specific problems I have make the phone unusable - I have no signal at home and I use a Vodaphone SureSignal box, which not longer works (i.e femtocell). I will approach Apple to downgrade, which is a reasonable request. If that is not sucessful I will have to buy another phone.
I will update this blog with my progress.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Router prompt showing router(boot)

I fired up an old 2522 Frame Relay router for one of my labs.  For whatever reason, it's now booting into the prompt router(boot).  What exactly causes this issue?  Did the IOS somehow become corrupt?  I've verified that the config-register is set to the default value of 0x2102, but I'm still ending up at the router(boot) prompt.  Before I go and reload the IOS, I just wanted to get other opinions about this issue.
    Cheers,

A router may be stuck in boot mode because the configuration register is set incorrectly. This is the prompt reached by the router:
    router(boot)>
If the configuration register has been misconfigured, no errors will be logged to the console during the boot sequence.
    Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform these steps:
Check the configuration register value by issuing the show version command.  The configuration register is found in the last line of the command output, as shown in this example:
    router(boot)>show version
    Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software

    2 Serial network interfaces.
32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)
    Configuration register is 0x2001
Change the value back to the default value of 0x2102, as shown in this example:
    router(boot)>enable
    router(boot)#config term
    router(boot)(config)#config-register 0x2102
    router(boot)(config)#exit
    router(boot)#
For more information on the configuration register, refer to Use of the Configuration Register on All Cisco Routers.
To verify the configuration register change, issue the show version command at the router(boot)# prompt, and review the output again. Look for the configuration register setting, which should show a new value upon the next reload.

Once the router is reloaded, the new configuration register setting becomes active. This is an example of how to reload your router:Note: Do not save the configuration while the router is in boot mode. Avoid using the save commands (write memory or (copy running-config startup-config), and answer no to any prompt suggesting that you save your current configuration. If you save the configuration while the router is in boot mode, the configuration may be partially or completely erased. The config-register command is the only Cisco IOS  Software configuration command which does not get saved in NVRAM. It changes the configuration register immediately, but this takes effect only during the next boot.
    router(boot)#reload
System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n
    Proceed with reload? [confirm]

  • Easy way to erase a router's config & reload an IOS? Dont know passwords..

I've been given a couple of 3640 routers, one of them had no config and I was able to work with it. The other 3640 had some config on there and heres what I've done so far.
*Change config regsiter and booted up to access the startup config.
    *Copied all data
*Whenever I do the command "copy start run" I get some weird memory dump issues (but that is besides the point) and I cant change any data or do any commands.
I want to erase the router and put a new IOS on it. I dont know any passwords how do I do this easily? Im guessing a simple config register change from within ROMON mode????
Anyone have a how to: for me????

If you do the parts of password recovery that deal with accessing the router, setting the config register to 0x2142, and booting the router you will have wiped the config and kept the IOS. You do not need to do the other parts of password recovery. Once you have wiped the config and booted the router be sure to set the config register back to its normal value (probably 0x2102).
In looking at the error that you describe, this part (%AAAA-3-INVSTATE) seems to indicate that the error is generated in AAA. We do not know what is in the existing config, but I believe that it is something in the existing config that is causing your problem and not some inherent problem in the router.
Try just setting the config register to 0x2142 and booting the router and let us know if that worked.
