3D for MS Visio 2013 and 2010

We have a 3D addon (3D Visioner 2013) for MS Visio 2013 and 2010 which converts a 2D design into a 3D model.
3D Visioner makes possible to arrange and see things from any angle and from any point of view, capturing all details, dramatically improving representation quality. 3D Visioner 2013 is compatible with Visio 2010 and 2013 in a single package.
With 3D Visioner you will be able to create – easy and fast – professionally looking 3D designs of living rooms, office spaces, buildings and more, including complex structures and multistory designs. You can place walls, windows, doors, furniture and equipment
of your virtual home or office to quickly see how it looks like. With support for Network shapes you can create network diagrams in amazingly visual 3D way without heavy effort, including visualizing connection flows. With Enterprise edition you also can assign
3D models of your choice breath life in 3D for any of your existing 2D shapes and drawings.
We would be really happy to receive feedback about 3D Visioner. The addon is free to try for 14 days and can be downloaded from http://samposoftware.com/3dvisioner/
Please let us know at [email protected] after trying the addon.

  • Exchange 2013 and 2010 co-existance

We will have 2013 and 2010 exist together for a while...we plan to move away from using Unified Access Gateway for HTTP redirection to our Exchange services and implement Kemp
load balancers...two at our HQ site and two at our DR stie...
We plan to have a one arm configuration...from what I gathered...each load balancer will have a network connection and only one network connection and be on the same network as
our new Exchange 2013 servers.  Can someone take a look at my config and give some input whether or not this will work and some suggestion on Ex13 urls, cert SAN names, etc.

    Virtual IP   172.16.1.106
                             Virtual IP
    172.25.1.104
From the video I’ve watched for Kemp install…we’ll create the following internal DNS records for the Exchange services that will be configured on balancers.
    OWA/ECP
        mail.corp.local.com
                  172.16.1.107
    EWS               ews.corp.local.com

    ActiveSync      mobile.corp.local.co
    172.16.1.110
    OA                 oa.corp.local.com
    172.16.1.111
    Autodiscover   autodiscover.corp.local.com 172.16.1.112
    Question:
We will configure the Exchange services with these ip addresses linked to each service on all four load balancers?
Or will DR site load balancers have different IPs configured for same Exchange services?
Exchange services are split between our two sites…meaning Outlook Anywhere is configured for our CAS servers at our DR site and ActiveSync comes to HQ CAS servers as an example…so
I want all Exchange services to come through the newly installed load balancers at HQ and if they don’t respond…the Exchange services get redirected to the load balancers at our DR site.
Can you give some insight on the config of load balancers as to how we can do that?
I have a question about the cert we will have.
Our Microsoft rep says we should get a new wildcard cert…currently we have a UCC cert with the following SANs attached.
Will this new cert have to be installed on load balancers?
If so…can you suggest some ideas as to what new SANs I need if any of the new cert with Exchange 2010 and 2013 co-existing for a while.
Below are the SANs on our current UCC cert.
    Outside resolvable SANs
    Webmail.corp.local.com
    205.223.19.25           portal.corp.local.com     205.223.27.78
    Portal2.corp.local.com
    205.223.19.25
    Autodiscover.corp.local.com
    205.223.19.25
    Internal SANs
    Hqcas1.corp.local.com
    Hqcas2.corp.local.com
    Dccas1.corp.local.com
    Dccas2.corp.local.com
    Owamail.corp.local.com
(this CAS Array server name that HQ CAS servers create)
What do you suggest we use for the external urls on Exchange 2013 for these services?
Our firewall guy says we’ll use same names,
but I’m not sure if we try to use same name if we’ll get an error?
Active Directory may say name already in use?
We plan to have firewall to just redirect requests for external urls to load balancers…sound correct?
Meaning load balancer won’t have an external NIC defined…which makes it a one arm config…correct?

    Hi Techy,
According to your description, I am still not quite sure about your environment. Could you please provide more information about it, such as:
    1. How many Exchange servers in your coexistence environment? One Exchange 2010 with all roles and one Exchange 2013 with all roles? Or several Exchange 2010 and multiple Exchange 2013?
    2. Are there two sites in your environment? What’s the Exchange deployment in different sites?
    3. Please confirm if both Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 are Internet-facing.
Additionally, if you are using different namespaces for different services for internal access and external accessing, we need to include all service namespaces in your certificate with IIS service. Personal suggestion, we can follow ED Crowley’s suggestion
to use split-brain DNS in your environment and only use the same namespace for Exchange service URLs.
The following article described the details about how to configure different namespace for Exchange services by using Load Balance in Exchange 2013:

  • Which Laptop is good for VS 2012/2013 and SQL SERVER 2008 R2 /2012 ?

    Hi,
I am planing to buy a laptop.
I am gonna be using mostly for Visual sStudio 2013 and Sql Server 2012 .
    my budget is $1000.
confuse between DELL/ HP / LENOVO..!!!
    please help.

This is only a personal taste of mine:
I prefer to work in Virtual Machines. In fact I did set up a VM just for my programming. This has the advantage that games and other stuff are not slowed down by SQL Server Services and similiar stuff.
This also allows me to quickly make a small virtual networks with multiple clients if I need to test some client/server stuff.
Plus I am also a bit of an adminstrator and prefer to test stuff in VM's before I try them in the real world.
I prefer using Virtual Box for Virtual Machines, so one thing of big importance was support for VT-X/AMD-V. Without them Virtual Box cannot run x64 guests even on a x64 host system.
Otherwise I wanted Windows 8 (so I could finally learn to live with it/learn programming for it's UI). And of big importance was an upgrade of gaming ability (my old one had difficulty/impossibility to run most current games).
So I bought a x64, Win8 Gaming Laptop with 8 GiB RAM (so I can run 3-6 Windows 7 hosts in paralell) and looked that the CPU supported Hardware Virtualsiation.
Otherwise pretty much every current laptop will work. x64 OS might be prefereable, as .NET has some limitations under x32/x86 OS (like the
2 GiB limit). Multicore (2 or more) is pretty much the state of the art (are there still any single core CPU's out there?).
It of course needs to be a Windows (7 or 8) to support VS. New Laptops should have UEFI (all that are sold with Windows 8 have).
If you do not need a lot of storage, using a SSD instead of a HDD will propably speed up startups (Windows, Programms) and compilation times a lot (those are disk-heavy operations) - but I only know that it should and heard of people who have them.
Let's talk about MVVM: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/b1a8bf14-4acd-4d77-9df8-bdb95b02dbe2 Please mark post as helpfull and answers respectively.

  • Visio 2013 and Office 2010 Professional Plus

I am using KMS.  Both Office 2010 and Office 2013 keys are installed on the KMS server.  On a Windows 7 system, Office 2010 Professional Plus in installed and activated.  Visio 2013 Professional is also installed, but it is not activated.
I see hits in the event log for activation requests, furthermore slmgr.vs /dlv all shows a 4 count for Office 15, KMSHostVL edition.  This is probably correct, we haven't deployed Office 2013 or many Visio 2013 apps.  The problem is every time I
open Access 2010, the Office installer runs.  This does not happen for Word, Excel or Outlook.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem or how to troubleshoot it?
I tried running the VA client diagnostic tool, but it said Office was activated.  I am sure in looked at my 2010 Pro and not the 2013 Visio.
    Thanks

when you have a combination of Office products installed upon a single machine, (even sometimes with a single product installed), the Office applications can sometimes suffer a repair/re-registration sequence upon application launch.
This can happen in non-KMS scenarios, and, is usually caused by missing registry keys or a damaged installation.
It can also be caused by updating/patching one of the Office products, since updating/patching will sometimes cause the registry entries to be re-written, which can "toggle" the registered default application.
This is one of several reasons why MS recommend against having multiple versions of Office installed upon a machine.
Try a repair of Office2010, to see if that will correct the registration of Access2010. If successful, then check Visio2013 is still launching ok. Then check Access one more time (to see if launching Visio has disrupted Access again).

  • App-V 5.0: Adding Visio 2013 and Project 2013 to a previously deployed virtual Office 2013

    Good morning.
I can successfully deploy Office 2013 via PowerShell and App-V v5.0 without difficulty.  I've read the document at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745/en-us and followed all instructions successfully.
My question is this:  If Office 2013 without Visio 2013 or Project 2013 is virtually deployed, how can those components be added later?
For instance, we may have 100 users that acquire a virtualized Office 2013 without Project or Visio.  We then may have 25 users that require a virtualized Office and Visio without Project and, perhaps, another 15 that require Office and Project without
    Visio.
Currently, when I attempt a second virtual deployment of one of these components, it removes Office 2013 making it inaccessible.
How can Project and/or Visio be deployed to an already existing virtually deployed Office 2013?
    Thanks very much.

As a part of MDOP, you'll also have access to UE-V which will provide a mechanism of moving user preferences across the same applications from difference packages.
It will require planning, configuration and deployment, but will ensure you don't face the same issue in the future.

  • Windows XP Machines Always Prompt for Credentials (Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010)

I am running Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 Datacenter (VM).  Windows 7 clients with Outlook 2010 work fine.  Windows XP clients with Outlook 2010 prompt for credentials (user name and password) each time Outlook is started, and checking the "Remember
my password" box does not prevent this from happening the next time.  The "Always prompt for logon credentials" checkbox on the "Security" tab of the "More Settings" section of the Exchange account is not checked.  I have found a myriad of posts
with similar issues, but they all seem to have to do with SBS/Exchange 2007, and I haven't come across something that works as a solution for me.  One suggested certificate issues, and I was having certificate security warnings, but I got that resolved.
I am hopefuly that the fact that this only happens on Windows XP will be telling.

  • When to use Managed Metadata service in Sharepoint 2013 and 2010

    Hi Folks,
I have been working on sharepoint from quiet some time now. I have been using managed metadata service also.
What I have not been able to find out so far is when should I be using MMS.
What are the real advantages that I can draw out of it.
I have one application that has Managed Metadata installed and has various terms stores and terms.
The Managed metadata service  created is utilized in search,
What I do not know is what is why are we using it at all.
    What is benefit of it.
Managed metadata service could also be used in navigation is what i know.
But what confused me is when is the best scenario to use it for navigation.
Why can we not use the navigation provider in the managed metadata service.
There might be other uses also, but that is not clear to me.
Can any one tell me why and in which scenario to really use it.
I know how to configure the mms and how it works though the jargons around the managed metadata.
    Regards

Managed Metadata has some specific advantages that make it useful for certain situations.
A managed metadata column has the following advantages over a lookup or choice column:
A managed metadata term set can be shared across the entire SharePoint farm, so you can use it in different site collections.
You can set up "synonyms" so that multiple similar terms resolve to the same underlying piece of information
Terms can be hierarchical (terms can be nested under other terms), and the SharePoint interface allows hierarchical filtering. For example, if I have a term set for Location, and one of my terms is North America, with terms below that for United States,
Mexico, and Canada, I could choose to filter my list to show me all records with any North America location (inclusive of US, Mexico, and Canada), or to filter on a specific term (such as Mexico).
You can allow people to enter new terms, which will then appear in the term set.
You can specify information owners/stakeholders who maintain the term sets without them needing elevated access to sites; normally only site owners can mess with site columns and content types. Managed metadata lets you separate information management
(what terms/synonyms should be used) from site management (granting access, creating groups and lists, etc).
There are some disadvantages too. For example, with a lookup column, the lookup list can store additional columns of information. A managed metadata term set (on the other hand) only really stores terms (and descriptions/synonyms), but not related
info. You might be tempted to do something like create a term set for part numbers, representing every part that your company produces; the term set would handle the part numbers just fine, but wouldn't let you add extra columns of information for
description, weight, price, etc. In such a case, a lookup list is the better option.
Microsoft has some suggested guidelines for when to use managed metadata/term store:
    SharePoint 2013:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee519604(v=office.15).aspx
    SharePoint 2010:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee519604(v=office.14).aspx
    A brief summary...
Managed metadata is a good option when the potential metadata meets the following criteria:
Is something for which a user will select a valid value
Represents information that is likely to be used multiple times
Has valid values that can be organized hierarchically
Includes synonyms or abbreviations that should be aggregated
Can be applied in one language, but might be viewed in other languages
Managed metadata is not a good option if the potential metadata meets any of the following criteria:
Is represented by a built-in column (such as “last modified date”)
Has an infinite number of valid values
Has different valid values in each location that it is used (such as different values for the “version” attribute depending on which product team’s site the item appears in)*
Has only “yes” and “no” as valid values
*This type of metadata could still be captured in site collection-specific term stores

This is commonly seen with an Outlook add-in, such as the AVG add-in. I just ran into it again today. I removed AVG and enabled Windows Defender on a Win8 laptop with Outlook 2013, and that took care of the issue. If you must use AVG, you can disable the
add-in and then test new emails.
To disable the AVG add-in, this is one method:
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry.
          (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/            )
    in case problems occur.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps to disable the Avgoutlook.Addin add-in. If the problem is , we recommend that you contact the vendor of the add-in to ask about an updated version of the add-in.
Exit Microsoft Outlook if it is running.
    Start Registry Editor.
    In Windows 8
Press the Windows logo key+R, type regedit in the Open box, and then press Enter.
In Windows 7, 8 or Windows Vista
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey, depending on the type of Office and Windows installations that you have.
    32-bit Office plus 32-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
    64-bit Office plus 64-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
    32-bit Office plus 64-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
Right-click the LoadBehavior value, and then click Modify.
Change the Value Data value to 0, and then click
    OK.
    Start Microsoft Outlook.
Note To re-enable this add-in in Outlook, change the LoadBehavior value to
    3.

The dynamic ports use a pipeline including a custom pipeline component which I can confirm is available in the correct directory
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013\Pipeline Components
I’m a bit stuck at what to try now, I have option where I could recreate the dynamic ports from scratch in the orchestrations and redeploy to dev in the hope it’s something
that VS2012 didn’t handle too gracefully when converting the project.
    Two things.
    1. That's what I would do first, recreate (really just change and reset the properties) the Orchestration Ports in Visual Studio.
    2. Probably not related but, Custom Pipeline Components should not be placed in the Pipeline Components folder.  All Custom Pipeline Components should be in the GAC only.  The Pipeline Components folder
is a compatibility vestige from BizTalk Server 2004.

  • Unable to open OWA cross site between 2013 and 2010 Exchange Server

    Hello,
First of all allow me to describe the scenario as this always helps and is often omitted from many questions.
SITEA – 1 x 2010 Exchange Server (All roles except UM and Edge), Domain controllers etc available
SITEB- 1 x Newly installed 2013 Exchange Server (Mailbox and CAS roles), GC Domain controllers etc. avaliable
Sites and Services are correctly configured between the sites and we have a high speed WAN connection between the data centres all ports and communication between servers at both sites are open as the connection is secure.
After installing Exchange 2013 in SITEB, whenever I try to login to either the ECP or OWA of the 2013 with a user whose mailbox is in SITEA we immediately receive the sad smiley face with the something went wrong message. Clicking more details displays
    the following message:

I was expecting Exchange to proxy the request to the 2010 server and get the 2010 OWA experience. If I create a new mailbox on the 2013 then it is of course fine.
Is someone able to suggest any troubleshooting steps? I have of course fully followed the Exchange 2013 deployment assistant from Microsoft and ensured all pre-requisites were carried out.
The Exchange 2013 server is SP1 and is running on Windows 2012 R2

    Hi,
According to your description, your ECP and OWA requests cannot be proxyed or redirected from your Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2010 server. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
If yes, I recommend you the following troubleshooting:
    1. Check all URLs of ECP and OWA virtual directory on your Exchange 2010 server.
    get-owavirtualdorectory |fl *url
    get-ecpvirtualdirectory |fl *url
Does your Exchange 2010 server has the same namespace with your Exchange 2013 server?
    2. Check if you can ping your Exhange 2010 server on your Exchange 2013 server.
    3. Check if there is any error in your event log and IIS log on the Exchange 2013 server.
    Thanks,

  • Mac hardware configuration/purchase for animation & editing - 2013 and CS6

I do a lot of after effects work, and my job is switching me over to a Mac from pc.  (The office is mostly mac - the tech guys and everyone who chooses our fonts will be thrilled!)   They're looking at ordering a pretty standard imac build though I'm sure they'll go up to an i7.  I'd never have thought of not getting a mac pro, now that they've been updated --- but am I just dating myself with that assumption?    It's been a few years since I shopped for a machine; I've always worked on towers but don't know anyone who's used the 2012 ones.

Thank you for these quick replies; that explains why I haven't seen benchmarks for the 2012 issue.  This idea just came up last night (when my veryvery souped-up pc tower ran into trouble and nobody could service it).  I think they were planning to buy the standard imac build about five minutes later, and I said "wait wait! I don't think that can be right"....
We're doing a lot of motion graphics and light HD video editing (and rendering all that out) but no heavy FX work.   I guess I'll ask for an i7 imac for the moment (though I weep at the thought of a glossy screen) since they look like ordering it *today*, and hope for a bigger machine to come.

  • SharePoint Designer 2010 and Visio 2013 Issues

I currently have Visio 2013 and SharePoint Designer 2010 installed.  I have two problems that I'm experiencing and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    1. I'm able to export an already manually created workflow from SharePoint Designer 2010 as a .vwi file without a problem and am able to import the file into Visio Pro 2013.  I
was also able to export the file from Visio once changes were made.  However, when I go to import the file into SharePoint Designer I receive a message stating "This workflow cannot be imported because it was created in SharePoint Designer for a
different site, or the original workflow has been moved or deleted.  To move a workflow between sites, use Save as Template (.wsp file) instead of Visio workflow drawing."  I cannot figure out how to save it in the format the prompt is suggesting
as this is not available from the list of Save As options from Visio and when exporting from Visio the only format to do so is as a Visio Workflow Interchange (.vwi file).  When exporting from SharePoint Designer I’m only able to export as a .vwi file
and the Save As option is not available in SharePoint Designer.  Additionally, the file location where I exported from SharePoint and importing back into SharePoint is not changing, nor is the file name.
    2. If I create a workflow from scratch within Visio utilizing the SharePoint 2010 shapes, I'm about to export without a problem and save as a .vwi file.  I'm also able to import this workflow into SharePoint Designer, but the problem is the workflow
never actually shows up and I do not receive any errors.
Any help on either or both of these issues would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric

Use Visio 2010. You may be running into a compatibility issue between Visio 2013 and Designer 2010.
