3d not on menu in CS5 extended why is it not there?

I have CS6 extended on monthly rental from Adobe - there is no 3d list on menu and I think there should be-I cannot get an email address within adobe to address this

Your title says CS5 extended, your message says CS6 extended... which do you have?
And just what is "extended" anyway?
Provide the name of the program you are using so a Moderator may move this message to the correct program forum
This Cloud forum is not about help with program problems... a program would be Photoshop or Lighroom or Muse or ???

    As a software engineer who is currently programming OpenGL applications, I can tell you that OpenGL is all over the map.
    Trying to achieve consistent operation across a wide variety of drivers implementing different OpenGL versions and capabilities, not to mention that the different video card companies choose to do things under the covers in slightly different ways, is an elusive goal.  I just grabbed the screen with output from a prototype of an app I currently have in development from 6 different systems (running ATI, nVidia, and Microsoft's software implementation of OpenGL) and the output from every single one is slightly different from the others.  I have to find ways to compensate for these differences so my app makes consistent output no matter what.
    OpenGL is a far more complex and varied realm than you would ever believe, partly because it's been driven by the gaming market primarily up to now.  What does that mean?  Speed in many cases trumps quality - what gamer cares, for example, if the splattering blood is exactly the same hue on two different systems?  Look at the release notes for even the latest drivers...  Almost all they mention are bugfixes for the various games.
    It's great that Adobe has waded into this pool.  The need for OpenGL to "get more serious" is now upon the driver writers, and lo and behold they appear to be responding.  The water is getting clearer.
    Leveraging the power of the GPU in the modern video card is far too attractive for the serious applications to stay away.  In my own applications I see a roughly 100 to 1 speed improvement in updating the display with my effects.  Done right the quality can be improved over pure CPU solutions as well - for example at non-step zoom levels.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Photoshop CS5 Extended NOT in CS5 Production Premium?

    Hi!
    A few days ago I purchased CS5 Production Premium. I already had Photoshop CS5 installed and registered on my PC. However, after installing Production Premium I still have Photoshop CS5, but not Extended. I checked again on the What's Is Production Premium page, and sure enough Photoshop Extended is listed right below "What's Inside" near the bottom of the page. I did not uninstall Photoshop prior to installation as I don't recall being told to anywhere.
    Just for kicks I started the install process again and stopped to look at the programs being installed. Photoshop CS5 (64bit) is listed, not CS5 Extended. If I click on the Photoshop.exe icon that is in the either of the Adobe folders (rather than using the Start menu, just to be sure), one in the Program Files (x86) for the 32bit apps, and the other in the Program FIles for the 64bit apps, I still don't have Extended for either version.
    I also noticed the modified dates of those Photoshop folders are from close to my original Photoshop CS5 installation date. Nothing was changed when I installed the Production Premium package.
    Also, I was emailed four serial numbers (two are numeric only, the other two much longer and contain letters and numbers). However, during the install only one was ever entered. Besides Photoshop I've only tried Premier Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator and they all seem fine.
    What should I do to get Extended working?

    Weird thing is that the Deacitvate option was greyed out on the 64bit version. I looked in the 32bit version and it was available there. I permanently deactivated it, exited Photoshop (32bit) to check the 64bit version again. This time a CS5 Production Premium window appeared with the option to install Photoshop CS5 Extended. I clicked install and Photoshop opened up almost immediately; all Extended options now available.

    What type of file is it (file format)?  What bit depth and what color space?

  • 3d Repousse is grey , Not working in Cs5 extended

    Very curious why other 3d programs work on my laptop (bought new in 2009) like Poser 8 , Facegen but not on CS5 Extended .. Cs5 says that my video card is not supported , i would have to buy a new video card upgrade . I really do not understand why this is happening , Please respond if this has happened to you or you have an answer !!!!!

  • Why is "New Volume From Layers" Greyed Out? (PS CS5 Extended)

    OK here's what I've tried, based on forum research:
    1. Make sure two layers are selected.
    2. Deleted PS CS5 preferences (using Shift+Ctrl+Alt method) - tried twice.
    3. Checked that my video card is supported (it is).
    Yet this menu item continues to be greyed out - I'd appreciate any suggestions to get it working!
    I cannot find out how this menu item is meant to be used as there seems to be no article in Adobe Help.

    In that case how does this guy get it to work with TWO layers http://www.planetphotoshop.com/3d-light-beams.html and also the demo from MAX2010 - maybe he was bluffing?
    And two vector paths is normally enough to interpolate a 3D volume in any 3D modeller I've ever used. So the "minimum of 3 paths" is simply not true.
    So, I'm left with the question why is "New Volume" from layers greyed out?

  • Why does CS5 Extended (Windows7) keep telling me its a trial period?

    I bought Photoshop CS5 Extended about a year ago.  I installed it on our family computer and our dell laptop. Both were active at the same time however I rarely used the one on the dell.  In January I installed CS5 onto my own laptop which i recieved for Christmas.  I was fine until a month later, in Febuary, it started telling me my trial would expire (starting at 30) # days.  I have now deactivated AND unistalled it on the dell laptop and deactivated it on the family computer and it still comes up as a trial on my laptop.  And I running out of days. 
    I have no option for deactivation on this 'trial' on my laptop and when I try to re-enter my serial code it says 'code not valid for this product'.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled since deactivating and uninstalling CS5 on the dell and deactivating it on the family computer.  I had no problems when it was just on those two computers so why does it keep coming up as a trial on my laptop?  Even after taking it off the dell?  It comes up with the same amount of days as when I uninstall it as well, I have even tried changing my computer's date and time which just makes the trial run out completely.  I would really appreciate help since I do need it on my laptop and on the family computer (never used at the same time).  Thank You.

    Do you have any other Adobe software installed on this computer?  If not the simplest solution would be to remove CS5 and then run the CS5 cleaner tool.  For more information on this tool please review CS5 Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html,
    Once the software has been removed and you have ran the cleaner tool then try the installation again.  It is likely that the installer is having problems writing to the location which contains the serial number.  This is why you are receiving the invalid serial number message.

    For that Nikon model you need ACR 8.3 that means CS6 or CC.  Or you can download the DNG converter convert your Nikon RAW files to Adobe RAW files. And then process the Adobe RAW files with CS5 ACR version  6.7

  • Image not displaying correctly Photoshop CS5 Extended V 12.1. (Same file OK in PS Elements)

    I am having a problem with Photoshop CS5 Extended V 12.1.
    The problem:
    When I open some files, some shades of BLUE colour is displayed as BLACK
    However the same file  opens and displays correctly if I open it using Photoshop Elements V9.0.3.
    When I save the file as JPEG and re-open it, the problem returns.
    Opening the JPEG file in any other application, including PS Elements, does not cause the problem
    Source of files
    The original files came from a Nikon camera, saved in RAW format. It is possible that the original files were corrupted in some way as the shots had an unusual blue cast - which was easily resolved by Photoshop when I originally opened the RAW files. However, I'm not sure.
    The problem is not universal as I've not been able to reproduce it with any other files (RAW or JPEG).
    I have calibrated my monitor display settings sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (default)

    Thank you for yur reply, Curt. Yes, I do have the original RAW file. When I open it in PSE and PS, the colours appear correctly AT FIRST as shown here:
    However, when I select "Open Image", it appears as here:
    You will see that the blues in the lady's scarf and the wolly hat of a man in the forground are appearing as black. However, when the file is saved as JPEG or PNG and printed or viewed using PSE or Pait, or any other medium (even Premiere Elements), the colurs arer fine.
    However, the same process when followed in PSE, does not result in the same outcome. The image displays correctly.

  • CS5 Extended Adobe Bridge Not Working

    I am using CS5 Extended Adobe Photoshop Student and Teacher Edition. It was working properly not 'til I installed Check It Registry Cleaner this morning. When I started to work on certain pictures I took this afternoon, and I open Adobe Bridge so I can drag the photo on the main layer and use refine edge, I do not see the "+" while dragging the photo. In this regard, do I have to uninstall CS5 Extended Adobe Photoshop and re-install again. On another note, I turned off the computer and tried to see if it will work properly, but it will not drag the photo to the main layer so I can use refine edge. Your response in this regard is greatly appreciated.

    Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop.  (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop.  Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install.  Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."   Any solution?

    CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
    So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
    and manually download/install from there.

  • Camera Raw/DNG 6.7 not loading CS5 Extended (or Elements 11)

    I install Camera Raw 6.7 for CS5 Extended.  Install successfull per Adobe Application Manager.  Successfully installed all updates.   I look in CS5  Edit>Preferences>Camera Raw and it says no plug in installed.   I attemp to open a Raw file (CRW/CR2) and it says wrong doc type.  Installed DNG converter 6.7 with a successful install.  But when DNG runs it crashes and I get the error message "Adobe DNG Converter has encountered a problem and needs to close...".   Same issue with PS Elements 11.  Not only are the file formats (Raw CRW and CR2) not even recognized, they do not appear in the open window greyed out as I've seen in other video demonstrations of the product.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled both products with virus/firewall protections disabled.   I have a AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 1.0 GB RAM Running XP Professional w/SP3 with 100+ GBs of available disk space. 

    I fixed the problem, it was simply a Preference Setting in Bridge.  I was in a directory with only jpg images.  Once I changed the preferences to allow ACR to open jpg everything is fine.  When I went to a directory with RAW images, they work fine now also.
