3D output from premiere

Hi,
We are due to start a stereoscopic 3D project filmed on RED. For on-set previews with a Macbook Pro Retina (8GB RAM, SSD) and a Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K to convert output from thunderbolt to hdmi 1.4 - will this work?
We want to drop files into premiere, sync them and then get stereoscopic playback on a preview monitor (preferably a consumer grade TV with hdmi input. Is this possible?
Is there any more equipment we would need?
Blackmagic have confirmed that their Ultrastudio 4k is capable of taking a thunderbolt signal and converting it to a hdmi 1.4 signal, so is adobe premiere cs6 capable of this?

Sure, Premiere can deal with r3d footage just fine but it doesn't have any native 3d tools.
I've used Tim Dashwood's Stereo3D Toolbox in FCP 7 and dabbled with it in Premiere (the new version supports Premiere, not just After Effects) and it's very good.  If you want to do any post-convergence or floating window work (or even digital zooming) it's essential.
Still, I prefer the Stereoscopic Adjuster filter in Edius.  Have a look at their 3d QuickStart and you'll see what I mean:

  • Encore won't import markers with bluray vid output from Premiere through Media Encoder

I have a sizeable video project, just completed, that needs to be output to DVD and BluRay.  DVDs are done, no problem - the three timelines are each exported from Premiere by queueing them in Media Encoder. Side-car .xmp files are produced containing the chapter markers, and it all imports into Encore without issue, chapter markers are there, DVD burns successfully, works on DVD players, all good.
Now for the Blurays.... Same process as before, queueing the same timelines in Media Encoder, this time exporting using the H264 BluRay HD1080i 25 preset, the export works fine, no issues or error messages, but mporting into into Encore (using Import as Asset, Import as Timeline, etc), I get the error:
"Error parsing MPEG metadata file. Deleting or renaming "E:\YourVid\test.m4v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost."
In other words, the markers file is either failing to export crrectly from Media Encoder, or failing to import correctly into Encore, or both.
I have never had this problem before, but this is the first exporting I have done with the latest versions of Premiere and Media Encoder, ie versions:
    Premiere CC: 2014.1 8.1.0 (81) Build
Media Encoder CC: 2014.1 Build 8.1.0.122
    Encore CS6: Version 6.0.2.004
    ... on Win 7 Pro 64bit
Can anyone help?  Are other people having this problem?  Is this a bug with the latest version of Media Encoder and/or Premiere, or is it just co-incidence and something else is the problem?  And most importantly, is there a sensible workaround (ie other than just re-making all the chapter markers in Encore?) Can I export the chapter markers from Premiere into Encore some other way?
    Please help!!!

Well, I wanted to play with versions and reverting...
AME version is columns; PR version is rows. The 8.1.0 x 8.1.0 was on my laptop. The rest are desktop, but both are win7. I'm guessing the fault is AME, so I will update AME to 8.1.0 as next step. But no new test till "tomorrow" (even though tomorrow is today!).

  • Bad output from Premiere Elements

I've tried every option but consistently the DVDs burned with my videos from Premiere Elements 11 are out of focus.  this makes this software useless for me.  I'm now using Photoshop Elements to generate slide shows and importing them into another video software to burn onto DVDs.  What's wrong with this software???!!!

The problem isn't just that the resolution isn't as good as the source materials.  It is totally out of focus and looks like a 3-D picture before you put on the glasses.  My premiere 9 worked beautifully but version 11 is awful.  I am still using the same input as I did with version 9, which is mostly photos with some video.  As a matter of fact, most of it is Photoshop elements projects, which should work well with Premiere.
My project settings:  editing mode -- HD 1080i (the default, I think)
              video frame size 1920x1080
What other settings are you're looking for?
For the project I've just been working on, I ended up doing it in Windows movie maker, and I got fine results with much less effort.
I'm about to shop for another video editor.  But I like the richness of options offered by Premiere and its link with elements, so would prefer to stick with it.
    Thanks.

  • Jittery output from Premiere Pro

    Hi.
I am creating wmv files from sets (say 300 frames) of still renders from 3DS Max.  I originally created JPEG frames.  The resulting wmv files were jittery/stuttery when played back in VCL or Windows Media player.  I tried creating better quality TIFF files but the resulting wmv files were still jittery.
Has anyone any idea what could be causing this and what settings I could try.  I have been through the obvious Bitrates/Codecs etc.
I am using Premiere Pro CS6 on 64 bit Windows 7 (SP1) Intel Quad Xeon 3.6 with 24Gb RAM.  My graphic card is an  NVidia Quadro 5000.
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Hi Joe.
Many thanks.  It was down to the fps.  I couldn't find where the setting was to change the fps for the sequence.  I eventually found it and also created a custom sequence with 30 fps.  My fps from Max is 30 but when I first imported into Premier it came in as 25 (not sure why?).  I also originally set up a standard widescreen sequence that was 29.97 fps.  Now everything is at 30 fps it seems much better.
The playback is not perfectly smooth but much more acceptable.  Are there any other settings when I export from Premiere that will help to make it smoother (e.g. bitrate/max render quality etc?) (I am completely new to Premier Pro).
When these are complete they are going into a Powerpoint.  I find that no matter how good the wmv files are there is still some "jerkiness" in playback in PP.  Any tips on this?
    Many thanks,
    Terry

  • Can I print to Tape from Premiere with a Black Majic Card? SDI?

I'm trying to print to HDCAM. Is this even possible? Is there a Plug In I need?

From what I understand you can't "print to tape" from Premiere. What you can do, is set your BM card to take output from Premiere's program monitor and record to your HDCAM that way. FYI, you'll need to turn off your Hardware enabled MPE for this work.

  • Poor Output from AME (Premiere 4)

I love Premiere, but I hate the Adobe Media Encoder.  I think part of the problem may be that I am producing custom video for desktop and the web as opposed to media for DVD, Blu Ray, etc.
I am producing a series of short 16:9  Quicktime videos at a custom size from high-res progressive source files rendered in 3DS Max.
I have found that the Media encoder settings seem to be very restrictive with regard to bitrate settings, and that the best available quality when encoding to H.264, for example, is just plain crappy, and nowhere near as good as I can produce if I use the Sorenson Squeeze trial.
I think some codecs are just poorly implemented.  Both of the Sorenson codecs can not be configured, and bitrate options are limited.  The resulting video is horrible compared to the same result from the Sorenson encoder.
The animation codec for desktop QuickTime is just plain broken.  even at the best quality settings, the output is full of noise and artifacts and is markedly inferior to the output from the video encoder in Max or even in the cheap little Camtasia screen recorder.
In order to get clean video in QuickTime format, I have tried every combination of codecs I can think of. I can't set the bitrate high enough with H.264 or most lossy codecs, and animation and graphics codecs are clearly broken.  I seem to have to export huge files directly to component or raw output in order to get a high enough quality video.... and then, of course I have to find another tool to transcode that to something I can actually distribute.
What am I missing? I really want to use H.264. Is there a way to get at the deeper encoding options so I ca set up the VBR options and set a higher bitrate than the little slider on the options panel seems to allow?
What are other people doing?  Are most people using a third party compression or encoding utility like Squeeze?  If so, it sucks, because I didn't count on having to spend an additional 900 bucks on top of the cost of Adobe Master Collection.

    ThreeDify,
Thanks for the info.  I will try this out.  I'm getting very discussed with AME.  Yeah, there are lots of presets...but the output is terrible.  Kinda like you find with having to use Squeeze.  Am I missing something?  There are posts all over the place that AME doesn't get it done so to speak.  Where is Adobe addressing these issues?
Does AfterEffects use a different encoder?  Why can I produce 'high quality' with AE and not with AME???  Yeah it takes longer to encode in AE but the final output is good.  Hmmm.
My goal here is to render to 1280x720 and make it for presentation with my 'high power' computer.  Then upload it to youtube HD.  When I try to convert it to Youtube it looks like crap.
Question:  What viewer do you use for .f4v files?  I'm using Adobe Media Player, and the .f4v files I have already made don't look good at all.
I view with Quicktime and Windows Media Player.  Get two different levels of quality with both.  Same problem on the internet, IE8 doesn't view youtube videos as well as FireFox...  Yes the delima goes on, and on, and on.........
I have got to get this to work..
I'm going to watch this thread for awhile.  Hopefully others will share their successes.
    Thanks.
    Dave

  • Output file names from Premiere sequences in AME CS5

Why, oh why, does AME not automatically names files according to their sequence names when added from a Premiere project? Instead, it auto-names them sequentially based on the project name. It is extremely annoying and confusing when trying to queue-up a project with many sequences.
Is there a way to change this behavior (other than to simply disable "Increment output file name", which results in multiple targets of the same exact name) ?
I really wish you could have it name the files like the sequence names.

Just to confirm what you're saying: Premiere Pro sequences added to AME from Premiere Pro are not being named properly? Because they should be...
However, Premiere Pro sequences added to AME from AME (File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence) are NOT named for the sequence, and there is no way around this; you get the project name with a serial digit. There is no setting to change this behavior, unfortunately--it is how it is.
I must agree: it is a particularly annoying oversight. How to change this behavior? Like this: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Hello, this is terrible problem, which i found in CS 6 softwares ...
solution i found only working, is uninstall and reinstall full package.. but it is not all,
you need to do BRAND NEW admin account in windows, and install it there.
that means, i could not export after repair from encoder in my original account never more (!!)   .. this is really terrible way how to repair this issue, because :
1.by reinstalling of software, client WASTE HIS TIME
2.by necessity to begin work in another windows profile you again WASTE YOUR TIME because of learning and migrating all other profile modifications, which i see really unaccpetable. Adobe means, this solution of repair is ok, and they did not do till today any steps of creating some "clever" solution.
I ask everybody, who will meet this issue in future, guys, please, complain about this situation, give "BUG Report" to them, and write "feature request" to them , in the way of creating some repair tool, which check actual  "broken" connections between encoder and premiere, which refuses to "take material" from it and encode, and REPAIR it automatically..
I am not IT, but ..does it seems so hard to create this ? Adobe IT developers should know their systems, and should create such utility tool really easy.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. i export anything by button "queue" from premiere to Encoder
    2. Encoder will start encoding
    3. Encoder does not show the window of media encoding (down left )
    Results: sound of sheep occur,
in encoding error file is this reason of canceling the encoding :
    01/02/2014 10:10:48 AM : Encoding Failed
Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted.
History of this problem and detailed description, HOW i did "repair" this. With wasting of app 2,5 days of my working time :
    1. after repairing "error 5" problem , i solved it by reinstalling the suite from the new admin user profile (profile B) .
I continued my work on my normal working windows profile . (profile A)
Every cooperation (AE+Pr, export media via "queue" to Encoder) was working fine . . .
    2. suddenly it stop working (without knowing any possible reason - i did not do installations )
and showed in error export log file :
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted."
    3.repair via procedure(procedure "a"):
i did this procedure on the profile B (profile from last time installation of repairing problem error 5)
    I did these steps :
    a-uninstall master coll suite
b-i used Adobe cleaner tool (remove ALL)
    c-removed raw directories in locations
    •C:\Program Files\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe
    •C:\ProgramData\Adobe
d-removed these links from registry file
    •HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe
    •HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe
    •HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe
    •HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Wow6432Node\Adobe
    e-restarted the PC
f- newly installed the Master Coll CS6
    g-update the software
result of repair of "3" : problem still exists
4.Ok i find out after coordination with support, it should have been created  ANOTHER NEW admin account.
4a:so i did the same procedure (uninstalling) in profile B
4b: and then i created brand new admin profile (profile C)for INSTALLATION of software
4c: restarted the pc (and did not updated it yet)
    result :
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile C) : export WORKS
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile B) : export WORKS
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile A) : export DOES NOT WORK ! ! !
(in profile A, is possible to export some raw video material in encoder which is imported to it via "drag and drop)
problem i see:, i have my basic profile A, which i am interested to work, because of all my directory modifications are in there..
this issue should be some "broken" connections between encoder and premiere, which refuses to "take material" from it and encode.
    what i expect :
to get from Adobe some repair tool, which automatically checks these connections and repair if necessary, without necessity of founding the new profile and reinstallation of whole software.. this is madness !
what i do NOT expect from Adobe:
to get from Adobe advice of kind : you have to reinstall full software in new admin profile. sorry , we do not know the solution, because we do not know, how do behave our software.

  • How to output from media encoder to camcorder via firewire?

I am using CS5.5 media encoder to output edited hi def footage from premiere as DV widescreen to sony FX 1 camcorder via firewire.
How do I route the output from media encoder to the firewire output?
This is the same camera I use for acqusition & import into premiere via firewire.
Media Encoder appears to be encoding the footage properly.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't--or can't, rather. You'd need to use Premiere Pro for this. Check this help page for details: Exporting to videotape

  • Audio and video not synchronized when exporting from Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi
We have made a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 that´s intended to be exported to DVD (it´s a weeding). We are working with NTSC DV Widescreen. The exporting is 720x480
We have 2 audio lines activated and sounding on this project.
    The question is:
When exporting the entire video (the entire timeline sequece) using Adobe Media Encoder to formats like H.264 (NTSC DV Widescreen)... Quick Tile Movie or AVI without compression (we tested these formats) the 2 audio channels get unsynchronized from the video. The same problem occurs if we get a direct link of the timeline from Premiere to Encore.
And Inside Premiere Preview audio is preety correct.
Does anyone here are getting such problem?
Also..can I ask another question (as I´m not expert on video production)?. What´s the best format for our purpose? Export a video to be played to DVD (we record weedings, birthdays..social events). No problem the time to export. We´d like the best quality for output.
    Thank you for the help
    Gustavo.

    Hi John and techkid123
We have 4 cameras here. 1 is Sony model HD1000 (since it works with Mini-DV cassete we need to capture the image via Firewire). 2 cameras are Sony HD2000 (it generates *.MPEG files if I remember well). And 1 camera is a Panasonic AG-DVC7 (it generates *.MTS files)
We start a new project using the Standard NTSC Widescreen 48Khz format.  When we drag to the timeline for example the MTS file...Premiere ask us if we want to Keep and Change timeline to suit the file specification. Anyway we always have 1 or 2 camera files that has a yellow line over timeline.
But I renders correct...no problem to edit...and we had no problem with Premiere CS5.5 :/
We are downloading the latest update of Premiere. I´ll make some test and publish here if the problem persist.
Thank you a lot for the help
    Gustavo.

  • Some scenes displaced when dyn. linked from Premiere CS4

    Hi -
I've encountered an odd problem, and I was windering if anyone else has seen it.  My system:
    Win 7 64
    Prod Premium CS4
When dynamic linking a sequence from Pr to Encore, the rendered sequence has a few seconds where the image is moved about 1/3 of the frame to the right and down. 5a few seconds out of a 60 minute project) I only see it in the Encore monitor window and on a burned DVD. The sequence in Pr looks fine, and it also renders out fine from Premiere.  It's only when dynamically linked that this happens.
It has happened on two different projects, each time for about 5 to 10 seconds. The only way to solve the problem was to render out the problem bit from Premiere, then drop the new footage in the same position in the sequence.   Encore is clealy not reading something correctly.  The problem areas don't correspond to clips in the sequence, though, they go across clips.
What is odd is that one project was Cineform 1920x1080 25p, and the other project was HDV 50i.  The Encore project is PAL DVD in both cases.
I have tried to see what the two problem bits did have in common, and it is these things:
They are both nested sequences, nested more than once.
Both had the fast blur effect applied at a transition (but the problem remained when it was deactivated)
    Magic Bullet Looks was applied.
Please note that in the projects these same conditions didn't cause any problem at all 99% of the time.  Has anybody else seen this before?

By default, the Ram preiew resolution is adaptative and not full quality, as it's just to "preview". You can switch this behavior to full quality, and by default, when you render, it will always be "Full quality" before being compressed by your output module.
You can check the Ram preview doc and the rendering doc from the AE help.
    Hope that helps,
    Seb

  • How can I export a completed project from Premiere Elements?

There are a number of formats you can export from Premiere Elements. All are available under the Share tab and the major output formats are available under the Personal Computer option.
To export your completed video for use in another project, use the DV-AVI output option.
To export your video for display on the internet, use the WMV or MOV output options.

I experienced the same problem as mreingrover. The Share features of iMovie appear to be completely unimplemented.
I had had MacKeeper installed for a short while on my previous Mac; never on my new MacBook Pro. I could not find any trace of it in Application Support, Launch Daemons, or LaunchAgents, in either my user Library or the root Library. But I figured maybe there was some trace somewhere that had been copied over from the old system, so I deleted iMovie and went to reinstall it from the App Store.
Now the App Store wants $14.95 for an app that has never worked right, and which is (I think) supposed to be free with my new MacBook Pro Retina.

  • Big problems exporting from Premiere Pro CS3

    Hey all.
Would be massively grateful if anyone here could help me out. I'm in the process of trying to export a 23 and a half minute project from Premiere Pro CS3. I've tried exporting to different formats, (Quicktime, MPEG2, etc..) but keep arriving at the same conclusion. The process will freeze midway through, and I'm greeted by the following error messages:
    "premiere pro debug event
premiere pro has encountered an error
    [..\..\Src\PPixHandleUtilities.cpp-114]"
    When I close that, another window pops up saying;
    "export error
application failed to return a video frame.
    cancelling the operation."
I'm not really sure where to go from here. Previously during the process of editing this project, I would occasionally get a message telling me that premiere pro was "running low on system memory". Fearing this to be the problem I was having while exporting, I attempted to export an extremely low quality version of the project, but arrived at the same conclusion. I also wondered if there was a corrupt frame or clip somewhere that was causing the issue, so I overlayed one whole transparent clip over the whole sequence and tried to export, but again, the same result.
I now have to put all my faith in you Adobe Wizards! Please ask me any questions that might help you to arrive at what may be causing the problem, I'll answer them the best I can
    Many thanks!

    FAR too small !!!
The program itself uses more than that for temporary working files
Also, unless you already have a 2nd hard drive or eSata external, you are below specification
Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
    Partition = Crash http://forums.adobe.com/thread/957286
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used the eSata Dock below... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Unable to upload entire video clip to Youtube from Premiere Elements 10, "Share" feature

    Hi all,
I just bought Premiere Elements 10 and plan to upload video to Youtube directly from Premiere Elements 10 "Share" feature. However it always uploaded about 10 to 20 seconds of my 2 minutes video only. Then it only uploded about 20 seconds video to Youtobe successfully but not the entire video clip which is about 2 minutes.  Is there anyone face the same problem like me? Please help me on this matter. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Ellie

    John,
The WAB (Work Area Bar) has tripped up many, and is a common issue, when the Timeline output is truncated.
Here is a look at the WAB (from PrE 4.0, but works the same in later versions):
The WAB is a great tool, when one wishes to limit the Export, or perhaps the area of the Timeline that Renders. However, many do not even notice it, and fewer understand how it works, or how to use it, and it gets in their way, if something is not set properly.
To the OP - Good luck,
    Hunt
