3D PDF on iPad?

Hi,
I have some Adobe 3D PDFs that I am producing for a cardboard box manufacturer. I want to be able to show the client 3D PDFs of product designs on an iPad or iPhone.
I have tried to view a 3D pdf on an iPhone 4 but just got a blank screen. Are 3D PDFs visible in keynote? Are there any Apps for iPad or iPhone that enable the viewing of 3D PDFs?
I have searched this forum but haven't found an answer. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

True.
The main issue here is that the 3D format that is embedded in PDF (u3d format) is really clumsy and not well supported; as a developer of MeshLab, probably the only free mac app supporting u3d, and seeing the support that adobe has given to that format in the last years I think that it is quite difficult that will be strongly supported.
Probably you should think alternative solutions like direct link to 3D models and iPad 3D viewers like MeshPad
as shown in this youtube video
Cheers.

The only text you can attach to a PDF in the current Adobe Reader is a "note" comment. If you tap the comments button (the cartoon cloud with pencil) and choose the "note" comment (the cartoon cloud) you can add a note.

  • Word docs and PDFs on iPad

I don't have an iPad yet but I'm considering buying one. Can I transfer a Word doc or a PDF from my computer to an iPad in order to read it? To edit it?

You have to be careful with annotation apps. With some, you can view the annotations in some pdf readers but not others. There have been discussions about this before, below I include a post by GNRBeaumont. I have PDF Expert, but it can't create the two types of annotation formats (see below) - but it does have other features that are valuable. Since iAnnotate PDF can handle the two formats, I bought that as well. You'll also be wise to have several pdf readers, since some do not read material that other do. Anyway, the post I referred to...
"I have spent several hours of research and trial and error and money on numerous apps to learn a surprising thing about pdf.
Annotations will not show up unless [1] the viewing app supports the particular format by which the annotation was added or [2] You are using an annotation that saves in image format (still a pdf file).
I like the latter but that means the annoation can not be edited.
The best for "2" are neu.annotate and noterize. When your annotations are made in this format everything will read it including built in email attachment viewer.
Number "1" is a mess. If you use editable format for adding annotation then the built in email viewer will not show it and many other pdf readers (iPad and desktop) MAY not read it. I have had really crazy combos, including one where my desktop would see it but when it printed the annotation disappeared.
The app in "1" category that seems most universally reliable is pdf expert.
iannotate is the only one I know of that lets you choose what format (editable or non editable) to save in. But it currently has a rotation bug that they are working on.
Since I want to make sure that whomever I send annotations to can see them, I use method "2" "

You can probably get deeper answers on the Apple website because what you're asking is a general iPad question, and not particular to a Reader.
If you have an AirPrint-equipped printer, you should just choose the Share button (arrow out of box icon), then choose Print Document.
Here's an Apple document about AirPrint:
    AirPrint basics
If you don't have an AirPrint printer, but another, you may be able to print to it with an app like Printer Pro. You can do a Google search on that.

  • Send a pdf to ipad

how do you send a pdf to ipad.  In Lion I just saved it to the cloud but that doesn't work in Mountain Lion or am I doing something wrong?

I assume that you have a PDF reading App on the iPad so you can use file sharing or you can drag the PDF into the books library in iTunes and if you have iBooks on the iPad - then sync the iPad and the PDF should be in iBooks.
This explains how to use file sharing.

  • Very High Resolution PDFs for iPad

    Hello,
A friend gave me a few PDF files created from very high resolution pictures to view on my iPad.
I loaded the PDF files on iBooks and so far so good. The problem is that when I swipe from a PDF page to another the image doesnt appear immidietly. It takes some time and the image is blur before it appears... After is fine but I want to remove this delay.
Does anyone knows any proper method to view high resolution PDF on iPad without delay when changing pages ? Or how what method or format to follow so to make them proper ?
    Thanks in Advance.

What PDF reader are you using? Perhaps there is one out there that renders files better.
However, if the images are large then there is only so much that can be done. That delay is caused by the device processing the image. If you find a more efficient reader that may help. But you may also want to consider tweaking with those images, knocking them down just a bit and find that sweet spot where they're still of a good quality but not so large that they push the boundaries of what the device can handle.

How do you make links work in PDFs on ipad?

I downloaded your "test.pdf" file. First I tested it on a Mac in Acrobat and the links worked fine.
Then I transferred it to my iPad and opened it in Reader 10.3. The links worked fine. When I clicked OK to the message I quoted above, they took me to the site in Safari browser.
It could be that you need to reset your iPad. Hold down the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time. Hold then thru the message about turning it off, until you see the Apple logo. Then let go.
    Relaunch Reader.

  • What's the easiest way to get PDFs into iPad?

A friend has a jail broken iPad.  He can drag-and-drop PDF files right into his iPad with the same ease that we can when copying a PDF file from one Mac to another (Does not use, or need iTunes).
I do NOT want to jailbreak my iPad.  Is there some similar way to transfer PDFs to iPad without going through iTunes (which I find to be a hassle).

You can either use iTunes (which you've already said that you don;t want to do)
I find transferring files using iTunes difficult and tedious (compared to the drag-and-drop methods used by jail broken iPads).  I put in several hours trying to transfer PDF files using iTunes and never could get it to work. Perhaps I did not have the right App on my iPad.
use a PDF app on the iPad that supports wifi transfer
Can you suggest an App that does this?
I did view the DropBox video.  (The video urges one to simply download it, and never discloses the cost prior.)  Also, I would never put my personal files on the cloud where they can be hacked.  I want something I can simply transfer on my own network without using the Internet.

    1. Can we please have the Mac OS X feature PRINT TO PDF on iPad 2?
    2. It took me long time to copy 32 Pages documents back to MacBook Air.  I copied each Pages document one by one to iTunes on iPad 2, then save all of them on MacBook Air.
Is there a quick way to accomplish the same thing? One-click Similar to syncing Notes between iPad 2 and MacBook Air?

  • Programs/files(pdf) in ipad will remain by this or deleted

My vista OS where I used to sychr ipaditunes, failed, now I must syncr again with new INSTALLED OS VISTA / ITUNES to get files to my PC from ipad? programs/files(pdf) in ipad will remain by this or deleted?

    Backups are located:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
32 or 64 bit should not mater for files, it does mater for programs, especially drivers.
The reference article says how to uses a backup of a backup. What you may have to do is to essentially erase your iPad and replace it with the iTunes content on your new computer and back that up and then replace that backup with your old backup. Make sure you disable automatic syncing since the first step is making a backup.

  • How do I get PDFs in iPad ?

How do I get PDFs on iPad?

the easiest is to email it to yourself or host it on a server on the internet.  you could host it on a local computer and then use a file management software app from the App store to download it to your ipad.  There are USB Flash Drive apps too which could be used to transfer files to your ipad.  Off hand I don't recall what they're called or the ones that work best but try any and everything I've mentioned.

  • Email pdf to iPad - is there a way to open multiple pdfs at one time without having to hold each individually and open with adobe reader?

I have a large number of pdf files to send to an iPad and it is taking forever to hold down each one and then choose to open with adobe reader.  Just wondering if there is a way to select all from the email to do the same action?

Not that i know of but an alternate would be to use something like dropbox instead of mail. Their app works very well.

  • Interactive PDF on IPad app created with Digital Publishing Suite

Can someone tell me why I can create an Interactive PDF in InDesign, send it to Adobe Forms but not be able to have an Interactive PDF form on an IPad App built with InDesign? Is having an Interactive (by that I mean, adding a name and address and answering questions in the form of text and checkboxes and submitting) form on an IPad at all possible using InDesign? Aaarrrrgggghhh!
    Barb

I have a 5 part questionnaire which is included in an IPad app built with InDesign. The recipients of the questionnaire answer the questions, add their name etc. They will visit this questionnaire on a monthly basis for 6 months, and each month a copy of the questionnaire is to be submitted to 3 different people. The responses of the questionnaire will need to be maintained for editing and updating each month.

  • How do I add a PDF to iPad 2 with Yosemite and iOS 8.1?

I recently migrated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.1 and my iMac to from Snow Leopard (10.6.8, I think it was) to Yosemite (10.10). Now it is not at all obvious how to copy a PDF from the iMac to the iPad 2, and I could not find instructions in the online help.
Before migrating to Yosemite, I could copy a PDF to Books in iTunes and then sync the iMac and iPad 2, and I would get a copy of the PDF on the iPad 2. Now iTunes no longer has a place for Books (which used to include PDFs)—its Books are only iBooks or audiobooks. I can copy a PDF to iBooks, but when I sync the iMac and iPad 2, I do not get a copy of the PDF on the iPad 2.
I might be able to transfer the PDF to the iPad 2 using DropBox, but if there is a way that does not involve the cloud, I would prefer it. I cannot use DropBox on my iPad 2 unless I'm in a wifi zone, and I don't have one at home.
Does anyone know a way to copy a PDF from an iMac running Yosemite to an iPad 2 running iOS 8.1 that does not involve DropBox or a wifi connection?
    Thanks,
    Sheila

I didn't get a chance to try this today, because the PDF that I emailed to myself wasn't on my iPad when I looked for it there—that is, the message that I sent to myself wasn't there. I probably made some stupid mistake. However, I discovered that I can open iBooks on my iMac, click PDFs, drag the PDF into PDFs on iBook, and sync the Books on the iMac and iPad. Before clicking Sync, I have to find the list of Books (which includes PDFs) on the iPad and select the new PDF. The difference between what I was doing on Snow Leopard and what I am doing on Yosemite is that on Snow Leopard, I could drag the PDF into iTunes (under Books) and on Yosemite I have to drag the PDF into iBooks (under PDFs). The sync'ing part is the same.
