3D rendering CS6 results in grey box in upper-left corner

Hi,
I recently found out about the 3D features in Photoshop and I started to experiment with them. I've created some nice extrusions. However, when I try to start the render of my current project, it waits a short while and then continues on rendering the rest of the image, leaving a grey box in the upper-left corner. When I zoom in, I can see that the texture is in place and the box starts at the border of the 3D object, not at the border of the image. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, Intel i5-2430M (2.4 GHz), nVidia GeForce GT555M (1 GB) and 8 GB of RAM. I've rendered my other projects successfully with the same settings (all highest quality, though very slow). Could this possibly be a bug in the software, is it an error of mine or is this 3D document just irrenderable?
Thanks in advance
Edit: after re-inspecting the area, I've come to the conclusion that it isn't the texture what's shown. In editing mode, there is no grey box but the actual image.

Thanks Mylenium for your reply,
It can't be the case that my texture file is damaged, because when I make a change to the model (and because of that the model has to be rerendered), the texture gets back in place. If it turns out that it is a damaged texture file, how can I replace it without too much of a hassle?
Edit: So I found out how to replace the texture. After replacing, the problem stays. I also tried removing the texture. When I do a render without texture, the whole square (not the whole image) becomes grey, instead of just a small box in the corner.

Hi - I'm not only having trouble waking up my MBP from sleep and having to restart repeatedly which is a pain in itself, but now when it restarted, I have these black boxes surrounding things, e.g., there is a black box around the red "close" button on the upper left corner of this page. There is also an oblong resizable black box sitting on top of anything. The content changes depending on the actions I take. Right now it says, "You are currently on a close button. To click this button, which closes the current window, press Control-Option-Space." Right now I'm open in Firefox, but it doesn't matter if only Finder is open, it's still there. I've tried closing all my applications and restarting and I also reset the PRAM. It won't go away. It's probably something simple, but I don't know how to get rid of it. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Janet

Thanks so much. I saw this on "desktop strangeness" immediately after I posted and tried to retract my question. It worked perfectly. I'm not sure how VoiceOver got turned on unless something happened when I was trying to wake up the computer. I open the lid and it flashes whatever is open and then the screen goes black and I can't wake it up. Still looking for the resolution to this.

• Illustrator CS 6 won't paste into a text box/paragraph of text, instead pastes a new line of text in the upper left corner of my document. How can I get it to paste into the selected paragraph or highlighted text like normal?

I've done it a million times, I copy a selection of type...I select the type that I want to replace it with, and then I paste. Now, Illustrator will only paste the text as a "point text" (a single line) somewhere else on the artboard—it seems to always be the upper left corner of the art board.

peg,
In cases of sudden appearance of strangenesses, the list may be relevant, hopefully the easy part at the top.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Hi Mokum
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

• Where is the usual toolbar...just installed on my new PC (windows 7 64 bit) and only see little box in upper left.

I am looking for the usual (on my other PC -XP Pro-- I see only a very limited toolbar with a little box in the upper left of my screen. It doesn't feature Tool/Options and other features of the old toolbar.

• I was trying to figure out how to stop my pinned apps from disappearing after I've shut-down my computer during storms. In the process of trying things I lost the Orange Firefox drop down box in the upper left corner. How do I get it back?

Question 1 - How do I restore the Orange Firefox drop-down box that was originally at the top of the screen.
Question 2 - How do I undo the last command I changed
Question 3 - How do I prevent my pinned apps from disappearing. I have about 10 loaded and it's a pain to have to reload those several days a week. Seems to only happen if I shut down the computer.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden.
*View > Toolbars > Customize
*Right-click a toolbar).
*Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

What do you mean with Question 2: ''How do I undo the last command I changed'' ?
Which last command are you referring to?

• No grey padlock in upper right corner

Hi,
I no longer get a grey padlock when going to any secure website. The url says https, but there is no padlock. I have tried a couple of sugestions from previous posts but that did not fix the problem. I don't even know if this site is secure but I had to put in passward to ask question. Any ideas? Thanks

I don't even know if this site is secure but I had to put in passward to ask question
Yes, this site is secure and you will always be asked to login to Apple Support Communities.
Mac OS X (10.6.5) < your profile
If that is correct, part of the problem is your system software is way outdated.
Click your Apple menu > Software Update
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
Try a secure site.

• Gray Box Icon upper right corner?

I have had my phone for 1 year now and now I have this icon that is a small gray rectangualr box with two dots in it to the right of my battery status on my main screen. Anytime I had a voicemail it had showed up and then I would listen and it would disappear but I have no voicemails and it remains...what is this icon and how do i get rid of it? Thanks!

That does sound like you voice mail indicator. Looks like this one below?
If you have an errant VOICE MAIL waiting icon on your home screen:
* Call your voice mail and clear the message.
* Call your BB from another line and leave a message. From you BB, call your voice mail and clear and delete your messages.
* If the above fails, pull your battery to reset and reboot your BlackBerry.

• What is the bar level icon that appears in upper left corner of my Safari screen? Sometimes is green, sometimes grey - looks like a volume level icon. Started showing up about 3 weeks ago.

This icon appears (then promptly disappears) in the upper left hand corner of my Safari screen every time I go to a different web site. Does anyone know what it is and why it suddenly started to appear about 3 weeks ago?
thanks! JL
