3D Rendering with an old video card

I am using an old video card (A Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 Ultra) and I get the wonderful message stating that my card does not support hardware acceleration. I came across an older post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2462645 and it mentioned the GPU Registry hack. I downloaded it and going to try it but a few questions first.
I am running CS 5.1 will that work for CS5 even though it says it is for CS 4.
Once I download and unzip it how do I install it?  Double click and let it make the changes or what steps should I take?
(The technical documentaion for the plugins links or a missing page.)
Thanks for any and all help!

How much ram does your card have?
If it has less than 256 then it probably won't run open gl even with that
Use GPU registry key which is really only for testing or diagnostics and not meant
for a pernament fix.

If your card has at least 256 ram then really the only thing to try is updating the card driver
(download from nvida, not thru windows updates).

  • Trying to install Bootcamp 4 with non Apple video Card

    Hi folks
So I had to buy a new video card (ATI HD 5850 1 GB DDR5) but of course, I lost acces to the boot screen, so I'm wondering how to install Bootcamp, since I don't have acces to the boot screen. In some point of the Bootcamp installation, the Mac re-boots but it freezes or something like that, so I have to turn it off.
For the other hand, I have the original nVidia 8800 GT which came with the Mac Pro, but's fried and it only works on safe mode. So I'm wondering if it's possible to install Bootcamp by using the 8800 GT in safe mode.
After failing on the Bootcamp installation, I have seen that the OSX already created a Bootcamp partition but in FAT 32 and we know it's neede din NTFS or such. So I was wondering if there is a way to sort this out somehow.
I also have another Bootcamp with Win7 in other hard disk, but quite small, so now I have an empty disk of 300GB, I would like to put all the windows stuff there.
    So:
    1. It seems I cannot use the new video card because of the boot.
    2. It seems I cannot use the old video card because it's fried.
    3. The Bootcamp partition is already there but in FAT 32.
    Any ideas?
Meanwhile, I'm going to try some kind of "ideas".
    Thanks in advance!

Then I google it and I found my thread... Mmmhhh... :/ Anyway, somehow, when Mac boots in order to perform the Win7 installation, after the Apple' chime, a BIG and BLACK pixellated apple apears on a super white background. While it stays, the disk is scratching the surface, then appears an icon of a Folder with an ? on it, The again, the big apple and the scratch, then a Ø symbol ^^ and again, the  with the scratching sound and loops all the time there... I think it's because the non apple video card. But how can be possible... Installation is just, you know, a pair of graphics going there, not OpenGL stuff! xD

PE 13 crashes due to incompatible video driver detected. Running on Win 7 SP1 with ATI 540v video card/driver.  Deleting bad driver file in adobe program data does not fix the problem,  it simply replaces the text file and crashes again.  My video driver is just fine.  Any help out there?

Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

  • Color with NO recommended video card?

The recommended video card is no longer an option. The minimum card would be the nvidia 8800. This card doesn't support rendering in 10 12 or 16bit only 8 and 32 as far as I know. Does anyone know this to be different? Yes it does matter. render times and such with no render farm blow in 32bit and 8 bit is just not enough color depth to prevent banding.

I have an iMac 20" dual 2.4Ghz with ATI Radeon HD 2600 (if it's what you're talking about) and Color works flawlessly(much faster than the original 25fps) with all the bit depths supported(8, 12, 16, float).
This does not tell anything when you are not telling what kind of footage (resolution, fps) you are using.
Color's limiting factor is GPU's power to handle pixels per second (resolution x fps), when you are not choking hdd pipes.

  • Photoshop CS4 Issue with NVIDIA 8800 Video Card?

I have an Mac Pro Intel 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Xeon with 6GB RAM running OS X 10.5.5 and an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT driving two monitors.
I just installed Adobe Photoshop CS4 fresh from a factory CD.
When I perform a Distort -> Lens Correction or do a Free Transform to rotate an image an arbitrary amount, and then follow that with a resize (tried 133% and 166%), the image ends up with a pattern of gray plaid overlaid -- especially visible in the darkest shadows. The pattern appears only on the rotated layers of an image.
This pattern persists if I quit and restart Photoshop, BUT -- there's no pattern visible if I open the same image in Photoshop CS3. It only appears in CS4.
This is easy to reproduce -- I just tried it with an image I created in Photoshop at 5x7" at 240dpi and filled with solid black.
I dropped a Bug Report to Adobe, and they wrote back suggesting "This is most likely an issue with your video card driver."
Anybody else out there having this issue? Anyone with an identical setup want to test this?

    /dev/nvram
ever I restart de computer have execute "chmod 777 /dev/nvram" for fallowing access for users
and with users i can't use video i810 alone use vesa
with root i can use driver i810 on xorg, why??
    I don't understand?!?!?!

The problem with my video is with root i can play games 3D, with users i can't, my config video card on xorg:
    Section "Device"
    ### Available Driver options are:-
    ### Values: <i>: integer, <f>: float, <bool>: "True"/"False",
    ### <string>: "String", <freq>: "<f> Hz/kHz/MHz"

i think the udev always create this device on start and always create with the permission alone read and write for root, but I just find that the group is kmen and I add my user in the group.
I restart system and verify the result.

  • Broken & Frozen Images with Radeon 7000 Video Card

I recently purchased a used ATI Radeon 7000 64 MB AGP video card in order to upgrade my Power Mac G4 Sawtooth. This is the Mac Edition card, not a reflashed PC card. I followed the seller's instructions to download and install the drivers and the ATI display panel. I shut down the computer, removed its Rage 128 Pro card and installed the Radeon 7000.
I turned the computer back on, it booted up okay and displayed the desktop and apps just fine. The problem came when I tried to play video -- I inserted a DVD as a test. The OS opened DVD Player and started the movie, but the screen broke up into patches of pixels and froze up. I couldn't escape or force quit; I had to turn the computer off.
This also happens when I bring the computer up from sleep mode. The screen breaks up into the colorful pixel patches and freezes up.
Additional info: computer running OS X 10.4.11. Sonnet 1 gHz processor, upgraded 1.25 gb memory. Computer monitor is an acrylic 23" Cinema Display, attached to the DVI port on the Radeon 7000 using Apple's ADC to DVI adapter.
Anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

    Hello,
according to his other posts, he removed the card from another V240. Therefore this might be a Sun XVR-100.
The minimum OS is Solaris 8 plus the XVR-100 Installation CD.
The Installation Guide and - CD is included with every card. Either locate these items or login to SunSolve (or use docs.sun.com as suggested by rukbat) and download the Installation Guide.
You won't get any output on the monitor during power-on without a attached keyboard. The card requires the installed drivers to work in a graphical session.
Just to say it didn't work is way too less information. Please take the time to describe a problem more detailed in future posts.

  • I would like to inquire about thepurchase of docs to go, with my old credit card. but I cancelledit due to fraud transactions. how can I retrieve docs to go and transferred it to my new ipad? without charges.?

I would like to inquire about my purchse for docs to go last 2013, in my ipad 2, using my old credit card Citybank , I cancelled the card because of fraud transactions, How can I be able to transfer the docs to go to my new ipad 4 ? the messageis there is a billingproblem.
                              Please advise.

First of all, I suggest to remove the banned credit card from your account. If the banned credit card is still on the account, iTunes Store would sent a preauthorization request to the financial instute which would be declined as the credit card isn't active. To remove the credit card, please follow and choose "none":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1918?viewlocale=en_US
If "none" is not an option, the latest order is unpaid - maybe due to the fraud transactions. In this case you have to contact iTunes Store Support to clarify the order. If it is fraud, they can forgive the order. If the order wasn't fraud, then you have to pay first (just choose a active payment method or redeem a gift card).

  • Having problems with RT and video card?

I have just upgraded to FCP 5 Studio. I found that my video card was not able to handle the RT Extreme, so I upgraded to a recommended ATI 9600 64 mb video card. However I still do not get any video that plays in the viewer windows. I only get a pixelated screen of the menu bar. I am running two monitors. The second monitor is only 32 mb,but I only use it for the menus part of the program. Do both video cards need to have enough memory to run the video RT? If so, can I unplug the monitor that does not have enough memory and run the program properly? Can I turn off the RT feature? Thanks for your help.

This is the Final Cut Express forum. You should post your question in the Final Cut Pro forum and/or the PowerMac forum.
wrt RT settings in FCE, you can adjust them in FCE System Settings > Playback Control
