3D Shadow Effect

Simply put, I want to take a layer that I've created in
Dreamweaver and add a 3D shadow effect around the edges. Is there
an easy way (or not so easy way) to do this.

  • How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate?

How do I include a drop shadow effect when I import an Illustrator vector into Edge Animate? It should be noted that I also have another effect (an extrude & bevel) applied which does copy over when I paste (or create an SVG and import) into Edge Animate. Any thoughts on why the drop shadow disappears but the extrude & bevel carries over?

Which version of Illustrator are you using?
In earlier versions of Illustrator it is not that easy to apply drop shadows with spot colours.
Another reason why it's always important to tell which version of AI … well …

  • Drop shadow effect--I can't get it to stop!

So I have successfully used the drop shadow effect in PSE 6.
But I can't figure out how to disengage this effect.  I started using the clone stamp tool after I was done with drop shadow, and now all of my clone stamps have drop shadows!
I don't want no more drop shadow.  How do I get it to stop?  I've looked and looked and don't see anything obvious.  Thanks.

    Thanks!  That worked.
But there must some way to disengage those effects after you're finished using them.
They usually don't hang around.  I'm glad resetting the tool solved the issue.

  • Inner shadow effect and layers in PSE 9

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone could assist me.
In PSE 9, I opened a photo>selected it>created a new layer and applied an inner shadow without a problem.  However, when I selected the TEXT tool and wrote some text in a new layer on top of the photo and dropped a shadow and/or bevel on the text, the text appears blurry and the shadow effect doesn't look right.  I tried the same effects on the text wihtout adding an inner shadow to the photo underneath and the text looked great. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Try right clicking on the T symbol in the tool box and choose Horizontal Type Mask Tool.
Then type your text and see if adding your layer style looks any better.

  • Shadow effect printing issue

    Hi
I'm having an issue with the shadow effect that must be so simple to resolve because if its not I don't understand why this tool is available. I have created a text box which is placed over another colour area, typed my text, clicked on the shadow button in the toolbar and shadow is applied to my text. It looks fine onscreen, it looks fine when I export to pdf but as soon as I print it doesn't look fine. When printed the text box is filled with a semi translucent version of the colour below it. If I print the text box so that its not sitting on top of a coloured background there is no problem but if there is something behind it then the text box appears.
Hope that makes sense, I'm only a part time indesign user so I'm not as skilled as I'm sure many of you are so please help this me get past this really annoying problem.
    Thanks

  • Exporting a PDF for print, the PDF does not show a shadow effect

I have a drop shadow effect on an EPS object and some type that does not appear when I export the file as a PDF for print. The settings I have it set to are: Adobe PDF Preset: "High Quality Print", Interactive Elements: "Include Appearance", and Color Conversion: "No Color Conversion".
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!

    Will,
Yes, I set my transparency blending space to CMYK. It didn't work.
I don't have a particular reason I am using an EPS over AI other than that's the type of file this object (logo) was saved as. I can get an AI. Is there any particular reason you recommend not using an EPS?

  • How to achieve this specific drop shadow effect?

    Dear all,
Does anybody know how to achieve this specific drop shadow effect in InDesign: a step by step instruction, a plugin, etc?
    Regards,
    Kasyan

    Kasyan,
I generally just use the basic feather. I draw the object with a few clicks of the pen, fill with whatever color, set the tint if desired, then use settings more or less as below.

  • Drop Shadow Effect Cannot Be Seen

I'm using CS4 for Windows and I own several great books for it, yet I'm still struggling completing a simple drop shadow effect on a photo. No matter what I try from using the simple drop shadow fx or complex suggestions building several different layers, I never see the final effect on the photo. I even click and unclick "preview" but it makes no difference. The photo displayed in my CS4 window continues to look just like the photo when I first opened it. Am I supposed to flatten the layers or somehow bring them together into one layer?
    I'm stumped.
I'd appreciate any help. I'm sure I'm doing something completely ignorant, but I'm willing to make myself look a fool to finally resolve this.
    Again, thanks.
    Regards,
    Bob

The drop shadow appears on the transparent side of the opaque/transparency interface. You can't get a drop shadow on a totally opaque layer because there's no such interface. If you're working on the background, convert it to a layer or duplicate it and work on the duplicate. Select the object which is to cast the shadow and put it on its own layer (CTRL J). The area outside the selection will be transparent. Highlight that layer, double-click to the right of its name on the layers palette to bring up the layer effects dialog box. Select the drop shadow effect, and tweak the settings including opacity to define the shadow. While the dialog box is still open you can drag the shadow to any position. Once you close the dialog box, the object and shadow move together.

  • PSE 9 Shadow effect

    Hello,
I applied a drop shadow effect on a photo.
How to change the direction and intensity of the shade??
    thank you
    Bonjour,
J'ai appliqué un effet d'ombre portée sur une photo.
    Comment changer l'orientation et l'intensité de l'ombre ???
    Merci

    followup to my previous post:
If your PSE version does not have a built-in way to specify the drop shadow's intensity, here is a round-about way.
Note: this works only if the layer is not simplified; e.g., text layer or custom shape.
    1. Ctrl-click the object layer to select just the object (minus the shadow).
    2. Copy/Paste the selection to a new layer.
NOTE: if the object was created from the shapes toolbar (Rectangle, Custom Shape, etc.), Ctrl-C will not work (Edit>Copy  is grayed out). In this case you must do Edit>Copy Merged, or Shift-Ctrl-C.
    3. Ctrl-click the new layer to select the object.
    4. Simplify the original object's layer and delete the selection, leaving just the shadow.
    5. To lighten the shadow, make a Levels adjustment and move the black output level slider to the right.
To darken the shadow, duplicate the shadow layer. Multiple duplicates darken more each time.
To change the shadow color, Ctrl-click to select the shadow and fill with your color. To later change the color, add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer above the shadow layer.

  • Unwanted shadow effect?

    Hello Acrobat Forum:
I've had an annoying problem with PDF created from InDesign CC for months now, and I can't figure out what's wrong because it seems intermittent, and I can't narrow the variables to figure out when it's happening or why.
Sometimes, a PDF I create from InDesign has an unwanted shadow effect under much of the text, and the colors come out dull and darker. Here is a screenshot of the same PDF file exhibiting the problem and one that does not exhibit it.
Oftentimes, I will export a PDF and it's fine, but then I'll edit something and re-export it, and from that point on, any number of exports to PDF will result in a drop-shadowed file. The drop shadow effect is present at all view magnifications except extremely zoomed in (~1600%)....then it goes away, but the colors are still too dark.
When I export PDF, I am using the same preset I've created each time (including the same ICC profiles), but the results can vary for some reason....
    NO PROBLEM:
    PROBLEM:
I did manage to find a small discussion about a similar problem, and the suggested solution was to use "Gracol" as the ICC profile the PDF is forced to use during export. That is not a good solution since many times, people I send files to for review will preview PDF attachments in web-based email browsers whose PDF plugins don't support anything but sRGB....
Any ideas what is causing this problem? Or, when it occurs and when it won't? Or, what solutions there might be?
    Thanks for reading!

  • Shadow Effect for a Truck

    Desperately looking for some expertise!
I need assistance in creating the shadow effect underneath a vehicle and its tires. I have hunted through as many books as I can find and even looked at the D&D in the current issue of Photoshop User but I'm having no luck (yes I am a novice)!
This is for an ad for a fire truck that I am doing for a national publication and I have to get it right! If this is really difficult can you suggest someone in Central New Jersey that may be able to assist.
    Thank you,
    Rich
ps: I am using CS3 on Windows XP.

    G'day Rich
It might be an idea to look at some vehicle pictures to get an idea of the shape of your shadow.
You would then make a selection of the shape and put in on a seperate layer behind your vehicle picture. (vehicle picture would have to be cutout i.e. surrounded by transparency)
Then fill this selection with the colour of the shadow, this colour is often not grey but is best selected from the colour of a real shadow. Then blur it (filter > blur > gaussian blur) then add noise (filter > noise >) and finally change the blend mode of this layer to something like multiply, this effect will depend on the actual colour of the background you are using.
There are other ways to do this as always in Photoshop.
Sometimes the actual shape of your vehicle layer could be used to make the selection and then transformed but this doesn't always work.
If you could post a pic it might help to better advise.
My very first ad was also as a novice for a worlwide travel magazine! so good luck with this and don't be put off by unhelpful comments!

  • Shadow Effect Not Publishing in Slideshow

I have set a shadow effect on the Hero image box that does show in the design mode of MUSE.
But when I preview it in MUSE, preview it in the browser and when it is published, the drop shadow is gone.
    Any suggestions?

you can not switch-off the drop shadow.. it is intended by Apple to make titles more readable.. (imagine a light yellow title on some bright white background.. )

That's what it looks like with xf89-video-intel-git, libdrm-git, dri-git, and anything else git and intel graphics related I can find.  Any ideas what's wrong, or what I would even call this problem so I can look around and see if anyone else is having the same issues?

Ok, I went into the XFCE4 setting manager and opened the "Window Manager Tweaks" module, Under "Compositor" if I disable display compositing the shadowing effect is gone, making the display much more usable (thanks!).  But now compositing does not work.  Guess I'll go report this to XFCE, or is the XFCE compositing manager handled by someone else?

  • 3-D or Shadow effect

I'm trying to either create a 3-D or Shadow effect on a table
    using either
    Dreamweaver or Fireworks.
A good example of the shadow effect can be seen here -
    http://www.smartaffiliatesecrets.com/.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

The shadows on that page are images, as you can see here:
    http://www.playingwithfire.com/shadows.html
It was done by drawing a rectangle of the necessary width,
    then adding a
glow and drop shadow to it. The rectangle with shadows and
    glow was
sliced and exported to whatever HTML editor was used. Judging
    by the
really outmoded HTML, it probably wasn't Dreamweaver.
The top and bottom shadows are in their table cells as
    spacers,
preventing collapse. The bottom and side shadow images were
    removed and
used used as background images instead, so they tile as the
    length of
    the table expands.
