3d surface plotting in Labview (Mac version)

I would like to be able to do 3 d surface graph on as discussed in Document ID: 27GI5SG4. It appears that this works only in the Windows version of Labview. Is this function going to be ported to the Mac version or is there another way to produce the same effect.

The 3d graphs for LabVIEW are based on ActiveX technology so they are only good for the Windows environment. I'm not aware of anything in LabVIEW that will produce similar results on the Macintosh. You may look at displaying your data in an intensity graph - it would still give you the ability to display 3 dimensions.

LabView student version registration on Mac OSx

Hi,
I installed the latest version of LabView student on my Mac a few weeks ago, so I've 5 days left to "try" this version. I have the latest version of OSx too, so I had to boot in 32 bits, but that's not the problem there...
I would like to register because I'll have to work on LabView during the 3 months to come, but I really don't know how to do. I looked for an answer on this forum but I didn't find any answer. My school gave me a key for LabView for Windows, but I don't know if it works on Mac too, and anyhow I don't know where to type it.
So, what are my options ? I wanted to download the profesionnal version and enter my school's key, but I didn't find the Mac version on NI's website.
Maybe it's very easy and I'm too stupid to understand that. In that case, I'm sorry for the stupid question... If someone can help me, it would be really nice !

Your english is just fine. Your best bet will be to dual boot into windows os. Licensing is different for that of a Mac, and the key that you received from your school will only work on a Windows OS.
If you would like, you could purchase a Mac OS version from Studica for around $20 USD. You will only be able to use LabVIEW Student Edition, Control Design & Simulation, and Mathscript RT on a Mac OS though. Also, you will have limited access to hardware such as myDAQ.
Again, this is why it is recommended to dual boot into Windows.

Maximum matrix size for surface plot?

Morning,
I've streamed data from an experiment to TDMS, and would like to display it in DIAdem. I have M channels of N data points and would like to display them in a surface plot.
Usually, I'd expect to do the following:
- Build a X axis (Generate Numeric Channel - N points at dX interval)
- Build a Y axis (Generate Numeric Channel - M points at dY interval)
- Build a Z matrix (Convert Matrix from X axis, Y axis and the M channels of N data points)
I can then plot the X Y Z triplets to a surface plot.
Alternatively, I can build the X and Y arrays and plot X Y Z in matrix mode. This has the added benefit of not forcing interpolation, which *always* crashes
Now the kicker. For my dataset, M = 192, N = 290 000 and I'm unable to plot more than the first 20% of the data in X. I suspect that Diadem's limited to displaying 2^16 in surface plots, but no error is returned. Does anyone know if this is the case?
I can decimate my data to fit the limit, but it's never nice to have to throw away data!
(For clarification, the data is a raster scan of a sensor over a surface. I could drop the sampling rate and/or increase the speed over the surface, but that's a secondary concern)

Actually, it's the creation of an intensity plot that I'm more interested in, for two reasons. I can split my data into smaller segments and then compare measured data against my CAD model, but it's also handy having the global intensity plot available for human overview. Amusingly, almost any way I try to split the data besides decimating means that the split between datasets will be in some region of interest, which makes it awkward for non programmatic review Meanwhile, the problem with decimation is that I have four channels of data for each of those slices: channels 1 and 2 are analogue signals and averaged to give one plot, channel three is another analogue voltage that is plotted in another, but channel four is a digital waveform with some pretty short pulse widths. Decimate too much and you'll barely see any meaningful data when plotted on an intensity plot for this.
My instinct before starting was that DIAdem would handle the large dataset better than LabVIEW, which it did if I only wanted to plot YT data. However, after changing tack and heading back to LabVIEW I found that it was able to churn through things a bit better.
I'm happy to send an email to describe what I'm doing in a bit more detail, as well as provide some of the resulting plots, as it's a sensitive project. Understandably, even if I could upload the data for someone else to work on, I'm not sure how much use 1.7 Gb of TDMS is to anyone else!

3D Surface Plot Cursor Error

I can't seem to get the cursor(s) to function on the 3D Surface Plot. I right-click on the front panel plot, go to properties, and select cursor - but then I get an error and LabVIEW crashes. Has anybody had any sucess with this? I've tried it in both LabVIEW 6.1 and 7.1

I have used the cursors in the 3D graph a couple of times with no problem. There are a couple of advices that I can give. Place the 3D graph strait form the pallet, do not create an ActiveX container and add the 3D graph. Open one of the 3D examples and see if you can add the cursors to a graph that was previously created. You can also try to unregister and reregister the ActiveX control for the 3D graph to make sure that the OS registers the control correctly. You can find the ActiveX control in the system32 folder (cw3dGraph.ocx) and here is a document on how to register the control.
I'm also including here an example that uses cur
sors, see if you can open it and run it. The second attachment is a style file for that 3D graph that includes a cursor. You can load this file by right-clicking on the graph and select "Import Style..". Hopefully you'll be able to load the style and start to work from there.

3D surface plot export _ missing scale on the projections

Hi all,
I am using 3D surface plot subvi in LabView 2010 SP1. After plotting the data, I can export the images (.bmp, mata file etc.). While exporting the projections of the images, I am not able to get the axis scales on them, though when I export the isometric view, I do have all the scales in the exported image.
Any clues.

Hi Daniel,
I am using surface plot helper to plot a 3D data set. On the front panel indicator of this, there is an option to export the image files in various formats, once you right click on the graph. I have attached two of the exported files. One is an isometric view and another one is the X-Y projection obtained by using the projection palette attached to the 3D surface plot. As you notice, the scale bars are missing from the projection.

Facing memory error during shifting from 3d stem graph to 3d surface graph in labview 2010

hello all,
earlier I was using 3D Stem graph in labview 2010. Now we want to move to Surface plot for same data.when i am trying surface graph it shows memory error.
I have 10240 data.
I was using vector method in stem graph so now for Surface graph i have thought that i have to make matrics of 10240x10240 and its diagonal elements should be my Z co0ordiants.

3D surface plots with intensity value to overlay at each point?

i have a data set with XYZ points and an 8 bit intensity value (0-255) which i would like to overlay on the 3D plot. Is this possible with the 3D surface graph in LabVIEW?

You have an interesting question. There is no built in functionality for plotting a "4d" plot on LabVIEW's 3d plot. You can make the existing tools work though. What you need to do is create 256 plots on a 3d parametric plot. Each plot will show just one color and each has been modified to show just the data points. Provided you have enough data, you can make a surface appear solid. Please see the attached VI.

Missing data in 3D surface plot.

Got an easy one for someone to solve. I've created a 3D plot, but the plot doesn't show all of the data.
I'm reading data from a set of .txt files and trying to visualize the results via the 3D plot. Each txt file contains a set of 401 data pairs (y location, measurement). A scalar (x location) is assigned to each file set, then added to an array containing data from previously read files. The resulting array is parsed, rearranged, etc. before going to the 3D Surface Plot control. Looks goofy because this .vi was originally used to combine data from multiple .txt files into a single file.
As you can see from the screen shot, the 3D plot only shows data from 400 to 445 (input data goes to 800). I checked the plot input arrays/matrices to ensure all of the data was read from the .txt files (it's all in there). What am I missing?

You might want to transpose the z array so the dimension better match the x and y array sizes. Also eliminate the zero at the end of the y array.
Delete the first column from the z-matrix, it seems to duplicate the y array.
Your data and array gymnastics are incomprehensible and way too complicated. Can you tell how you want to read the input file in some simple words?

Problem printing 3D graph surface plots

I have a LabVIEW vi that I have written that uses 3D graph surface plots. The front panel and 3D plots look great on the monitor. However, when I use the file > print option to print a snap shot of the front panel the 3D surface plot graphs are missing. All of the other controls and indicators print correctly, but the surface plots are missing completely. Any ideas on what may be the cause?

Shocked by lack of features on Mac version compared to Windows. Why?

Just downloaded Premiere elements 11 and shocked to find that the full set of features are not supported on the mac version, most notably the chroma, green and blue keying effects/ filters. Why is this?? I use a mac not as a fashion statement, but because they are the industry standard for creative businesses. ALL photographic, graphic design, editing etc suites use macs, so why give these features to windows and NOT macs? Makes absolutely no sense at all and I am shocked not to mention disappointed!!

There are differences between the Mac and PC platform, and not just with Premiere Elements, but also Premiere Pro. The PC gets more Effects, and Transitions. This was first noted in Premiere Pro CS 3, when it was ported to the Mac. Before, with Premiere Pro 1.0, through CS 2/verson 2.0, the program was PC-only. When PrPro CS 3 was introduced, the Mac-users took note that their PC friends got more than they did.
At that time, there were many posts to the PrPro Forum, regarding the differences. Adobe engineers commented on the differences between how the two platforms handled some aspects of the program - and mainly display functions. This list of Effects & Transitions in CS 3, for Mac and PC, will show what was different between those two platforms: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/460313?tstart=1470 [Note: this was for PrPro, and it has/had many differences, from PrE, so this is not a clear difference chart between PrE for the Mac and the PC, but you can get the idea. It is for background reference use only.]
Something similar happened, when PrPro went from CS 4 to CS 5, which was a 64-bit program ONLY. A lot of Effects and such were lost in the new version, and some were "old stand-bys" for users of the earlier program. In time, a few DID show up in later versions of PrPro, but not all. Some were 32-bit only, and Adobe deemed it too expensive to port all of them to 64-bit, so they were just dropped, and have never reappeared. The same thing happened with many 3rd party plug-ins. Once, they were all 32-bit, and that worked up until CS 5. Most suppliers then went back to the lab, and recoded their plug-ins for 64-bit, but not all. Some just dropped their support for PrPro.
While this does not help you get your job done (ATR's blog post will, however, and that was also why I suggested other Effects for Keying), it shows that PrE is not alone with the differences between platforms.

le and supposed that it was a bug fix release for his version - because the v17 ov18 number is not often displayed. It is usually just 2014 CC.

OK. You've kind of skipped over the reason why you want to go back five hours, but my assumption would be that you've made changes to a Pages file that you want to revert.
There are two ways to tackle this. From Pages itself, open the current version of your document, and from the File menu, click Revert To, and Browse All Versions. You'll then be in the Time Machine interface for that file, and can browse back to the version you want.
Or, outside of Pages, you can select the file (or the folder it was originally in, if you've since deleted it) and enter Time Machine from the TM menu (it sounds like you've already tried this?)

That link is no longer available. Use "Migration Assistant" to copy your Applications from your old mac to the new Mac, then immediately run software update. Aperture Version 3.2 will not run on your new mac with Mavericks, you will have to Upgrade to version 3.4.5 at least - you can download this update from the Support page: Aperture 3.4.5
Then launch Aperture and enter your registration key and try now too update from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 from the AppStore. The AppStore will change your Aperture registration to an AppStore version, so you will able to reinstall by downloading from the AppSTore in future.
If you want transfer only Aperture and no other applications, do it manually: You will have to copy not only the application but folders from the libraries as well:
/Applications/Aperture.app
/Library/Application Support/Aperture/
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/
