!3d turbo experience/ ti4200 GPU fan speed problems

I have recently bought MSI Ti4200 128MB DDR and have installed the 3d turbo software that came bundled with the card.
Although i have no real problems with the card that i can see, the software comes up with an abnormal condition alarm; saying that the GPU fan is running at a speed of about 1700rpm (the min alarm set point is 2000rpm)
Has anyone had similar problems?
Is there any way of adjusting the fan speed or is it done automatically by the graphics card? ;(

Haha..
I personally wouldn't really rely on 3D! Turbo Experience for fan speed readings. I have a MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 equipped with a tiny little fan which I doubt would do any serious cooling, and 3D!TE tells me that it is spinning at about 5000rpm. But other than that, the voltage stuff is correct I guess haha...

Please HELP, I have a fan speed problem with my Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC
This is a NOT an Intel machine. I am running Mac OS X v10.5.8

When did the fan problem start?
After I replaced the mother board on the computer.
Why did I replace the mother board?
Because the experts at apple agreed with my diagnosis that the major crash problems & kernel panics must have some thing to do with a logic board gone bad. They would not work on it, because this Power Mac G5 dual 1.8 GHz machine is now a legacy model.
What I have done to attempt to fix my fan speed problem? yes I checked the obvious things, here is a list:
    1) yes I checked to be sure that the new mother board was the same part number as the original one, and that all things that were unplugged from the old mother board - were actually plugged into the new mother board.
    2) all the fans work, I can see them spinning if I use a flashlight and look at them (cover on and off to get at some of them)
    3) check all RAM to make sure: a) it was installed properly b) that the RAM worked using TechTool Pro c) even started the machine with only the original RAM that came with it.
    4) I installed a Temperature monitor - to see if there was something reading as very hot inside that was causing the machine to continually run the fans at a high speed. No, no heat issues that I can see. Here are the reading from the sensors in degrees fahrenheit, 2009-10-11 16:11:01 -0500
    CPU A Die Temperature: 75.7℉
    CPU B Die Temperature: 81.5℉

    Power Mac G5 (Late 2004)
To reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer, simply do the following:
    • Turn off the computer by selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu or by holding the power button until the computer turns off.
    • Remove the power cord from the computer.
    • Wait two minutes.
    • Plug in the power cord.
    • Turn on the computer.
    7) followed the SMU reset instructions:
    Resetting the Cuda/PMU
    How to reset the PMU:
    • If the computer is on, turn it off.
    • Disconnect ALL cables from the computer, including peripherals and power.
    • If possible, move the computer to a place where you are not standing on carpet.
    • Open the case and ground yourself by touching part of the metal frame inside the computer.
    • Find the Cuda or PMU button
    • Press the Cuda or PMU button ONCE. Do not press the button more than once before starting the computer up again.
    • Wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the cables you removed in step 2 and turn the computer on.
    • If the computer still does not respond after resetting the PMU, the computer may require service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
    8) ran disk utilities, repaired permissions
    9) found a setting in the system preferences that a chat room person suggested had something to do with fan speed. In Energy Saver, under options, processor performance was set to highest, I set it to automatic - this did not change anything that I could tell - BTW I checked my other G5 (a single processor that works fine) that is the setting that that it is set to, and it is nice and quiet.
    10) restarted the machine, ..
    11) found a Fan Control System Update - but it did not install when I tryed to install it -
    12) booted from OSX install disk and ran that disk utility
    13) used OnyX to fix disk permissions, clear caches and temp items
Nope - still have the same high speed fan problem. ... PLEASE HELP!!
I have been reading in the MacInTouch reader reports - found this: some one said to use this - thermal re-calibration using the Apple Authorized Service Providers' disk - but that's not available, at least I can not find it - anyone? have an answer to finding this - or can do it for me? I am in Chicago.

The Genius at the downtown apple store said that because it's a "legacy machine" they would not work on it, .. so should I push them?
Well, I personally think that's ridiculous, I'd Push them, I'd call AppleCare & talk up the chain if need be... there the ones that have or should have that Disc... man o man... Personally I'll never visit an Apple Store again in my lifetime, maybe try an independent AASP if none of that helps!..

Man-o-man, pop my cork before I explode on that one, if I had anything to do with it I'd close that store.

  • MSI HD 7850 1GB GDDR5 OC edition Fan speed problem

    Hello all.
I have some strange issue with my graphic card and fan i think. I have noticed that, when my monitor goes to sleep (or when I manually turn off), after few minutes (7-8-9-10) I can loudly hear GPU fan acceleration. And it happens every few minutes. So, everything is ok few minutes, and after that, again I can hear that annoying sound, the sound of accelerated fan. That happens only, but only when the monitor is switched off (whether it manually or automatically switched off).
I bought this video just 2 months ago, as well as other components of the computer. So, everything is practically new.
I have tested my graphic card with MSI Kombustor v. 2.4, and everything was fine. Temperatures, FPS, and all that stuf was fine.
I've never had a problem in any game so far. Everything working fine on high details all kind of games. Temperatures are pretty
normal. In a fact, I think that is temperature is lower than some average. I have a problem only with horizontal lines, but that is because i have monitor with VGA output. As a mather of fact, barely notice them. And, I have instaled latest 13.4 drivers. I deleted the old version with driver sweeper. And in an earlier version of driver was the same problem...
Again, the problem arises when my monitor is off. I have tested with MSI Afterburner 2.2.5 beta and GPU-Z 0.7.0.
All settings in both of programs are on default. So, that numbers at paragraph RMP, when monitor is off, max is 1563. That is 400 more than when monitor is on.
I have tried to test when is minimum usage of GPU fan is 40% (i just clicked on "user define" button on the right side of "fan speed"), and then, RMP number would be 1700 or even more.
    When monitor is off:
    When monitor is on:
So, everything is perfect when monitor is on, again. I don't think that is normal, and I beg for help. Is there any kind of solution to fix this problem? Please. I am thankful in advance. Sorry for my bad English.
    P.S.
I wanted to upload pictures, but forum does not allow me. Or, I don't know how to do that. I only want to show values...

Usualy, i left Opera, uTorrent, Skype in backround. Then, I shut down the programs, and only programs in background are Avast 8 and Realtek Audio Manager (both are in system tray). No matter if you leave a program in the background or not, it's the same.
I really have never met with this type of problem and I have no idea how to fix that. If I complain to the seller, he would run tests like I did, and everything would be ok. And when  I would told him about the fan problem, probably would have told me that everything is okay...
I don't know what to try, really...

  • Bad noise/ fan speed problem with Rev B iMac

Like a lot of other people, I'm having problems with ridiculous fan noise. I've read through the forum and tried the following (with no success):
    1) Reset SMU (x2)
    2) Ran Maintenance Scripts. (x2)
    3) Removed the back and blew dust from fans, ports, etc.
The processor is set to automatic. The problem occurs whether or not I have any peripherals plugged in. I get the noise/rpms when all I have running is Safari and XRG.
On certain websites, the CPU fan will climb to 5600, CPU temp to 79C, with CPU usage at 80-90%.
Does this sound like a logic board problem? Something else, possibly?
Basically, I'm trying to cover all of my bases before I get on the phone with AppleCare. I'd like to try to keep that as short as possible. Thanks in advance for any help/comments.

    iMac G5 (ALS) 17" 2.0GHz 512MB RAM Superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Just an FYI. During my iMacs motherboard replacements (3) I was never asked for a case number once. I spent hours on the phone with Applecare when in reality I already new I had a hardware problem and if I would have just taken it in it would have been fixed quicker. The third time I took my iMac G5 in for service the local tech told me to call up Applecare (3rd time then call) and ask for a replacement stating that if they need to call me he would explain that I had a lemon. In everyone of the three bad motherboards the fans spun out of control so I have more experience than I would prefer on this subject. They did step up and as you can see in my profile I have a new Intel iMac courtesy of Apple.

    MSI x58 Pro MoBo w/BIOS v.8.3
PCP&C Silencer 750 watt Power Supply
    500GB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Yeah, I know that all that info probably isn't that necessary.
Problem: I have a Thermaltake cl-p0533 for my core i7 920.  My fan runs 6000+ RPM all the time.  I've tried using the overclock center, greenpower center, and the BIOS smart fan thing.  In BIOS, I tried setting it to 25% idle and 50c target temp range.  No dice.  I've tried using speedfan and all that I got was the speed knocked down about 300-500rpm for a bit.  My CPU idles at about 33c (according to speedfan and OC center).  The CPU fan speed is supposed to be able to be controlled.  The noise is really annoying.  Any help would be most appreciated.

First, I meant 920 (I must be dyslexic or something)
Yes, the CPU fan is connected to the CPU fan power connector (according to the mobo manual).  I've set SpeedFan for the same as I had my BIOS settings.  I've since changed them to lower temps.  I've tried SpeedFan with and without using the SmartFan feature in the BIOS enabled.  My Two case fans are super quiet, so I don't use any regulation for them.  So my SpeedFan settings look like this:
    Speed 1 - minimum value = 25% maximum value = 100% auto variated
    Temp 1 - Desired = 42c warning = 50c
Cores 0-7 = same as Temps 1 settings
I've also disabled the other temperatures for monitoring and fan control
As for the number of wires for the cooler fan, there are 4 going to the mobo.
I don't really know much about add-on fan controller parts.  If that's the route I end up needing to go, any recommendations?

  • MSI H81M-P33 Cpu Fan Speed Problem! Urgent

Hi. Bought a H81M-P33 board and got a problem.
I can´t increase my CPU fan Speed to maxium RPM . Tried to use Command Center and Board Bios without any sucess.
This leads to my cpu (i5 4670) getting hot with stock cooler. When I´m encoding a video it reaches 85º. The best solution I had was to connect CPU Fan to Chassis Fan slot on the motherboard and it increased speed, but still it doesn´t increase past a certain value.
What can I do to solve this problem? Tried everything without any luck. The board doesn´t handle CPU fan speed + temperatura increase well. Is not normal to have a CPU stock volts getting hot.
    Thanks

I know that for sure XFM. The thing is that the board isn´t increasing CPU fan speed as it should. Ofc a better cooler would do the job, but even with stock cooler it can be cooler. The problem is that the fan is always in slow mode :|

  • Does MSI recommend manual adjusting of GPU fan speed using Riva Tuner?

My temp goes to 90c whe laying CoD4. Is it safe to adjust the fan speed with Riva Tuner? Bec. i think this is pretty hot. Or is it?

    Yes its safe
"Bec. i think this is pretty hot. Or is it?"
No GPU usually is running hot, its normal. If you don't have troubles ignore the temp.

  • K8N Neo4 Plat NB fan Speed problems

    Hey,
I recently bought this system (see signature), and just today the NB fan started going haywire… I’ve done some searching on these forums and it appears im not the only one that is having problems with the K8N Neo4 Platinum chipset cooler.
CnQ reports RPM numbers in the upper 7000 (usually around 7500 RPM), and the noise it generates is intolerable.
I’ve tried to manually set the NB fan speeds via the recommended SpeedFan application, but to no prevail.
Can it really be that there are no solutions to this problem other than replacing the chipset fan?
If that is so MSI should really consider selling future revisions of the motherboard with a different fan, or, enable control of the NB fan voltage.
I really hope someone can help with this, all the other topics didn’t provide any other solution than to replace the fan… but the last entry to these discussions was back in May, so I hope additional solutions may have surfaced.
    Thanks

Quote from: Flow on 31-October-06, 01:42:08
It wont go any faster then present though.
In my case the fanmate with setting wide open produces a little less rpm on the northbridge then without this device.
the fan will spin faster if the voltage applied to the fan is higher, and slower if the voltage is lower. so if you supply the same voltage (basicaly use the same connector on the mobo) and keep the fan mate to full, the fan will spin a little bit slower since the fan mate already acts like a resistor, even if set at full speed.

  • N220GT Fan Speed Problem?

Newbie here, so be gentle with me! I hope that you guys can help with my problem? I have a new Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo P900 desktop PC with an MSI N220GT video card fitted. Recently, I have noticed that the video card fan seems to permanently on full speed, making it quite noisy. I have installed Afterburner to try and regulate the speed but although there is a fan section in the display there are no settings shown and nothing can be adjusted. The Auto box does not seem to do anything. The video card temperature is pretty stable at around 39deg. The noise generated by the permanently-running fan is pretty annoying - is it meant to to be this way? Surely there must be some way of regulating it to run automatically rather than full-on all the time?

Thanks for your positive feedback.    Its appreciated in amongst some posts that are not as complimentary
Do give us feedback once you have it installed and in use.
One more thing you now need to consider, whether you get the 460 or 560, is your current power supply. Please check the label on the side of the PSU and advise what the max amp ratings are on the 12V rail/s. You may have been given a lower end GPU due to limited power on the PSU.
Fujitsu have their own proprietary PSUs with exceptional efficiencies (94%) and you will need to check with your supplier in case you have to change the PSU regarding the guarantee implications.
From what I could find your model has a Max. output of single power supply of 280 W,which will not be enough for a higher specced GPU. https://globalsp.ts.fujitsu.com/dmsp/docs/ds-esprimo-p900-progreen.pdf

  • Hd Bay sensor and fan speed problem.

My mac mini's fan has always been quiet, running at the minimum speed under any load it was under during normal use.
A couple of days ago the fan started to throttle up to full speed at random times and stayed there for a random amount of time.
Looking at iStat pro I can see the reason is the 'HD Bay' sensor is returning 126c degrees or sometimes a '-' reading. The HD itself would just be running at around 35c-45c along with the CPU and the other sensor temps.
Then it will return to a normal reading after a random amount of time, again looking at istat when this happens it jumps from 126c to 45c instantly. As 126c would cause failure I take it the sensor is the problem and it's a faulty readout.
Where is this sensor located, could it have come loose, or what could be the problem and how can I fix it?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hey,
Have had the same problem (though that time i caused it :S)...
There is a little wire, really thin, attached to the other end of the HDD where the SATA plugs are. The cable goes all the way to just underneath the fan.
Now for me, the little cable, i didnt plug it in whilst i was replacing the HDD. For you might be a different issue, since its actually showing up your HDD temperature but just wrong. So maybe the wire connected to the HDD is not connected properly or has come loose.
You should open it 'carefully' and plug the wire back in. Just make sure that its done within the next few days, since the fan might go haywire, and you might say goodbye to it.
    Good Luck

  • Mac Mini fan speed shoots up with GPU use

    Hello.
I have a 1.83 C2D mini that's recently been giving me problems. I opened it up to install a new airport card (having separate issues with that!) and at some point my fan started acting up. The mini was always dead quiet. Now, anytime I do something GPU intensive the fan shoots up to 4500-5500 RPM (tested with smcfancontrol).
    Here are some examples...
Browsing the internet in safari is normal, 1500-2000 fan speed.
Streaming a movie over my local network from a server through quicktime, ~3100 RPM
Begin watching a video on youtube or running a program like plex or xbmc, the fan goes nuts between 4k-5500 rpm.
If I exit and go back to internet browsing it will slowly come down.
Before anyone asks, I'm on a fresh install of snow leopard right now with same issues, I tried the SMC reset a few times, and I definitely connected the fan wire when I put the mini back together.
Can anyone help me out with suggestions as to what I did or how to fix this? This mini is basically unusable now for my htpc!
    Thanks!

Hi, I have a similar problem. My Mini is from 2005. I will be working online and all of a sudden the fan speed goes waaay up (I make sure to keep the air intake slots cleaned weekly), my connection ends, the screen goes dark (black) and after bringing the screen back into view a few times (clicking the mouse), the computer will shut down. OR maybe it is the Mac running at hyper speed and not the fan.
As I am basically computer illiterate, I have no idea what causes it. I have slower than molasses dial-up and can't even get my AOL to work right anymore.
I had that "Finder" blinking problem after upgrading to this last OSX version, finally got that fixed.
After that fix about a year ago) , my computer ran better. I noticed (for the first time since I got this Mini) that I had an "alias" HD in my home/users folder. Not sure how it got there OR how I recently lost it, but seems I can't figure out how to get it back. Not sure if that is the problem.
Sorry if you don't understand my post, but it's part of my computer stupidity coming out. lol Sure this sure be "parted-out" into several categories
    ok... help please?
    Thanks in advance..... Murphy
