3D TYPE PLUGIN FOR ILLUSTRATOR?

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is any kind of 3d plugin for illy?

As mentioned, CS 1 and above has one right inside the programme (see Effect menu).
There are/were other third party plugins. Probably they have never been updated to the CS versions of Illustrator. Take a look at:

  • New Host Adapter plugin for Illustrator CC 2014?

I'm seeing that the Host Adapter plugin for Illustrator CC does not work for Illustrator CC 2014.  I've checked that the AIHostAdapater.aip file is installed in the correct AI CC 2014 folder.  But calling AIEventAdapater.getInstance().pingPlugIn() always results in "pingTimedOut".
Is there a new AIHostAdapater plugin forthcoming for Illustrator CC 2014?  Or is it available somewhere to download?  It is not available as an update through Extension Builder.

    Hi Brian,
You can download the CC2014 host adapter plugins for Illustrator from the following URL
    https://github.com/timothybrandspencer/CEP-Resources/tree/master/host_adapters/illustrator
Worked for me(verified of 64 bit installation of Illustrator on WIN and MAC), hope it works for you as well
    Thanks,

  • Does anybody know of a parametric design plugin for illustrator similar to Grasshopper?

I have a situation where I would like to make complex parametric transformations to 2D shapes, much like you can do in Grasshopper for Rhino. Does anybody know of such a plugin for Illustrator?
    Thank you for the help!

If you are talking about Reader (you did post in the Reader forum), then just download http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise. However Reader is free not purchasable. You can download a trial then install using your serial number, which if you didn’t register or write down somewhere you will be out of luck to track down.

  • Plugin for Illustrator v15.0.0 (CS5) to password protect a layer

Does anyone know if there is a new plugin for illustrator that will password protect a layer. The plugin Master Lock only works in Illustrator version 8 and 9.
Is there a newer version that works with CS5 ?

I have just come across this same issue when looking for a way to password protect layers.  Did you ever find anything, or has anyone else found something???  I'm also curious in getting Master Lock for AI v 8 and 9 to see if I can develop my own plugin for current versions of Illustrator.
    Thanks,

  • Pattern maker plugin for Illustrator?

I'm looking for a decent pattern maker plugin for Illustrator. There is an app called Seamless Studio (http://www.colourlovers.com/seamless-studio) that has the functionality I'm seeking, but it's a stand-alone program. Is there a plugin out there that has its functionality?
(PS: I know how to make patterns the manual way, just looking for a faster and easier method.)
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

  • Nice plugin for Illustrator

Anyone using the Vector Scribe plugin from Astute Graphics yet? Holy crap, I can't believe life's about to get better. I can't believe AI can't already do a lot of this stuff. Corel Draw could do it years and years ago. Might just start enjoying working in AI now.

I too got the Studio version on the basis of what I read in this thread. As far as I can tell (from limited time playing with it), it really going to speed up my workflow, especially when re-drawing logos from the rubbish that's normally provided.
One problem (and fairly significant one) is that the modifier keys (Shift - Control - Alt) work only about 5-10% of the time (when using an Wacom Intuos 4 tablet) or maybe they work once and then stop functioning, if I revert to using the the mouse it works perfectly, the shame is I use the tablet for the majority of the time. I guess something else is intercepting/blocking the commands. I not done any conclusive testing but Vector Studio seems to scewing up my Wacom preferences (the application prefs set for Illustrator in the Wacom Tablet Properties seems to be re-set to default and the Illustrator preferences seems to end up as prefs for all other programs, I'm pretty sure this has never happened before I installed VectorScribe, I've uninstalled the Wacom software completly, re-set the Wacom prefs, reinstalled the latest Wacom software but it screws up all over again.

    Anybody else experiencing this problem?

  • Anyone know of a Lion-compatible Quicklook plugin for Illustrator CS5 files?

The Lion update seems to have hosed the plugin I had, which worked OK under 10.6.  Thanks!

Thanks for this suggestion.  I have tried SneakPeek Pro without success.  The installer ran, created a plugin and a preference pane, but invoking QuickLook for Illustrator files still showed me just the file icon.
I have also tried the Adoview plugin.  Same result.
I can't find good information on troubleshooting either of these plugins; this seems to be a pretty underdeveloped area.  That's a surprise.
Any further suggestions (troubleshooting these plugins, hacks, other plugins) are more than welcome.  Thanks!

  • Sketchup Plugin for Illustrator?

Does anyone know if there is a plugin so that illustrator can import skp files? Sketchup files?

Stan, I put both apps through their paces, again, just to make sure my instructions were written correctly. My shadowing and applied styles were on the money. What's really cool about SketchUp, is it's ability to accept numerical input for precise technical illustrations. My company's Engineering Dept uses Pro-E and is blown away at the ease and speed at which I can generate 3D models of parts. It's weakness (for me), is animation. I predict that Google will add that functionality in the not too distant future. For now, I import my SketchUp models into Deep Exploration CAD and apply movement there. Good luck with your project. • Astute Graphics plugins for illustrator CC on a Mac Pro.

I have Adobe CC installed on my Mac Pro 10.6.8 operating system and things seemed to be working fine.  I have tried installing the Astute Graphics Trial version of Ink Scribe but I can't seem to find the plugin in the illustrator application.  The plugin gave me the "Installation was successful" window and when I launch illustrator I get a dialog box displaying the Astute Graphics tools.  Can't find any drop down menu when I click on About illustrator nor can I find a drawing menu from Window.  Does anyone have an answer?

    DrStrik9
    You were correct.
They suggested that I re-install the plugin.
    It is up and working.
    Thanks

  • Looking for some good text effects type plugins for CS5 or CS5.5

I have a website that I am updating and I wanted to create some really cool text effects. The effects are something that I want to create in After Effects to give it the movie effect with sounds, etc.
What I'm looking for is some add-on software that can boost the text. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Since you're brand-new here, there's a VERY crucial question to ask: have you ever used After Effects before?
The reason: it's not the kind of application you use for a couple of tricks with and expect things to turn out right the first time.  It takes a good knowledge of the AE basics to make it do what you want.
So how do you get the basics?  You go here.
...and if you need this animation in a big hurry, you might want to have a Plan B ready to go.

  • Embedding blog type plugin for fresh homepage?

    Good morning guys,
Just wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions for a common problem im having.
With a few sites - customers want to update the homepage with news etc... (im not using BC, so inbrowser editing wont work).
Before, ive always made a latest news page and then embedded a tumblr blog, but being on the homepage, that wont work as well.
Ideally I would like 3 or 4 content boxes that pull the latest blog posts from the blog page (similar to what a lot of wordpress themes do).
Just wondering if anyone has found a nice solution for this?
Any help or advice much appreciated.

The blog you saw is probably like most, dynamically driven from content stored in a server-side database.  PHP or some other server-side code is used to populate pages on the fly based on the link or search query entered by the user.  There is no feasible way to do this with static HTML pages alone.
WordPress & Blogger are 2 examples of popular blogging systems.
You can use PHP to pull content from your blog's RSS feed into your SHTML or PHP pages.  The link below describes how:

  • Graph plugins for Indesign and Illustrator

    Hi.
Anyone used any decent CC plugins for generating graphs more easily than they are in Illustrator?

    Hello Paul bloxham
I don’t know much about any decent plugins for Illustrator, however I sometimes make graphs using Microftsoft Word then export/copy into Illustrator, then manipulate within illustrator if needed, not used Apples Numbers or other free software as yet to make any comment, but I do get satisfactory results from using Word.
    Hope this is of help.

  • Dimension tool plugin necessary for Illustrator ?

    Hello,
unfortunatley my company bought CS4, but a few employees also sometimes need  to add dimensions to drawings similar like in CAD software for engineer drawings possible.
But it looks like that it is NOT working with Illustrator CS4. (although written in Wikipedia, that illustrator closes gap between CAD and pixel basing software.)
Is there any possibility to install plugin for Illustrator or is Illustrator having such tool ?
    Thanks for helping !
    Jan

I have an AI Javascript that I built for my own convenience, which creates simple linear dimension callouts, as described here.
It is dependendent upon two Graphic Styles and one Paragraph Style which can be added to your documents (or templates) by copying / pasting from the .ai file that is included in the download .zip. However...
It is little unbelievable that Adobe, eliminated dimension tool from Illustrator. Why ?
    Illustrator never had dimension tools.
although written in Wikipedia, that illustrator closes gap between CAD and pixel basing software
Whomever wrote that should be horse-whipped. (Or worse, forced to do techish commercial drawing with Illustrator in a roomful of others who are using either Canvas or CorelDraw.) That is probably the worst mis-characterization of what Illustrator is that I have ever heard.
Did my company buy the wrong software ?
Probably. If dimension tools and a few other very common features necessary for techish illustration are a frequent need, absolutely. Illustrator not only lacks ordinary dimension tools, it also lacks:
    Reliable snaps.
    User-defined drawing scales.
    Connector lines.
    Callout objects.
Live shape primitives (rectangles, polygons, ellipses, arcs) with geometric parameters (corner radii, etc.) that can be adjusted after creation.
Proper corner rounding / chamfering commands.
Any feature assist for mechanically corrrect perspective construction.
Is there any other software from adope, which is able to work on .jpg picture and using dimensioning, too ?
JPEG is just a lossy compression format for raster images. I don't know what it, in particular, would have to do with what you have described so far (using a mainstream drawing program to make attractive commercial illustration based on line work exported from CAD software).
But unlike most of its direct competitors these days, Illustrator does not provide any features (other than the ability to apply Photoshop filters) for actually editing raster images. It can import a raster image (JPEG or other) and manipulate it as an object (rotate it, scale it, mask it, etc.). But there are no pixel-editing features.
You have not very well described what your company's needs are. But just given your mention of dimension tools as being important and your need for something to "bridge" between working product drawings and commercial product illustration, I dare say you would be far better off with Canvas, Corel Draw, or Corel Designer.
Unlike its competitors, Illustrator has always treated anything the least bit "techish" as if it's something to fear. It's competitors embrace it as what it is: a huge segment of the overall mainstream commercial illustration world. And it isn't just this seeming "technical" vs. "paper doily" aversion. Much of it is simply the fact that Illustrator has never kept up with its competitors in straighforward, no-nonsense path drawing features. Illustrator has always sat too fat-and-lazy on its Adobe label for market share.
People (including myself) do technical/commercial illustration in Illustrator all the time. Most commerical product illustration is of that nature. But in doing so, they constantly employ tedious, cumbersome, and time-wasteful workarounds for the pathetically weak feature set of Illustrator--or they buy add-ons which cost half what they paid for Illustrator all over again. (I've never understood that mindset. No matter how well-done the plug-in, it's never as cleanly-integrated with the overall program as built-in features; and you have to put up with everything that goes along with mission-critical dependency upon add-ons from small third-party providers.)
