3D type will not snap to vanishing point?

Hi all I watched this video on how to snap 3D text to a defined vanishing point. Seems pretty straight forward but it does not seem to be snapping to the plane I defined?

  • Illustrator CC will not snap to grid, no matter what!

    Hello,
I apologize if this seems a redundant post, I've read many people asking this but have seen no definitive answer, so I wanted to simplify the question and see if we can get a real answer:
I'm using Illustrator CC, and snap to grid DOES NOT WORK FOR ANYTHING. For instance, if I try to draw out a rectangle, the top left corner will not snap to the nearest grid where I start to drag it out. For another instance, if I use the pen tool, it WILL NOT snap to grid. To be clear, I have "snap to grid" checked under the view menu, and do not have "snap to point" or "smart guides" turned on. Alternatively, any combination of these being on/off still will not yield a snap to grid. I have also experimented with the "align new objects to pixel grid" under the "transform" window on and off, which did not help either. Even with that checked on, existing objects will not snap to the grid. In short, nothing snaps to the grid - this is occurring on 2 different computers, one at home, one at work, both running the same version of illy CC. I don't get it, it seems like there are a lot of people having this problem but I cannot for the life of me find an answer, it seems like a life-or-death option that should be available, I know that I am lost without it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
As a caveat to this, I have tried most every option under preferences, so unless you know of something hiding deep, I doubt that changing a preference is going to be the solution here. Thanks all!

    Thanks Larry,
I have seen this posted as a solution, but to be clear it is not just a matter of rectangles not snapping, NOTHING will snap to the grid. Not a rectangle, not an existing object, not the pen tool, nothing. Even if I create a rectangle and go through the steps of expanding it to get rid of this new "live" feature, it still will not snap. So, I'm afraid that rectangles are not the culprit here, and I know from reading the forums that others are having the same issue with snap to grid simply not working at all.

AE will not snap to the screen anymore! Does anyone know how to fix this problem??

You've moved AE up in the corner of your desktop to the point where you can not see the top bar. Try dragging it to another desktop. If that doesn't work, shut AE down, reboot, and then launch AE again.

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by one or more of these:
    a. Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
    b. Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
    c. Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
    d. The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Note that the information I have provided is what Apple recommends, If other users suggest different solutions than found here, then be sure what they recommend does not impact on your warranty, if any, or ability to get continuing Apple service.
Please don't start removing drives or changing cables unless you know what you are doing and have exhausted other non-invasive alternatives outlined here. If you perform any work yourself that is unapproved by Apple, then you will void any warranty you may have and lose all further Apple Support.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD. Simply boot from the Recovery HD to perform the above.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • JFrame will not close giving null pointer exception

Hello ev1, Heres what I'm doing, I have a menu with JButtons that when pressed will take you to a game (this works fine). When your done with the game, you press a button that closes the JFrame(game) and starts the menu again (this gives the error null pointer exception). Heres a brief summary of the design:
    FullScreenSetup class
has openWindow() that sets up a new full screen JFrame. (works)
has closeWindow() that removes everything in the contentPane and sets
    visible(false).
    GameMenu class
    uses FullScreenSetup via FullScreenSetup window;
uses window.openWindow() to set up the window.
also sets up the buttons and handles them when pressed
    VideoPoker class (the game)
    uses FullScreenSetup via FullScreenSetup window;
runs the game and has the button that should close the window and go
    back to the menu.
heres how i thought it should work, in the actionPerformed method I have
window.closeWindow(); <- this gives me the error
new GameMenu(); <- this is my ultimate goal (hopefully brings me
back to the menu screen to choose another game)
I hope what I have written is enough for someone to help me because I know what it is like to read through hundreds of lines of code to help someone. Thx.

What I cannot understand is that when going from the menu to the game I use window.closeWindow(); so that I can clear the menu and paste the game on the screen this works fine. so why does it not work a second time?

  • Cs6 will not snap to guide and items won't light up when i hover over them.

So apparently there is now limited support for cs6 which is a damn joke.  I just did an update this morning and since then nothing will snap to my guides that i have set up.  And also when i hover over an item it dose not light up to show what item I'm going to grab when i click the mouse.  I feel like i am just missing a setting and have googled it and have not found anything.  The tech at Adobe would not tell me anything.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow do i feel dumb.  Yup that was it.  I must have hit it when i was grouping or ungrouping on accident.  What is that a shortcut for?  Thank you very much for your help.

  • File created with Document Content Type will not be saved back to Sharepoint library

Recently some of our users, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 with Office 2013, intermittantly are not able to save files created using  document content types template back to sharepoint library. Instead the location is set
to their local storage. The same templates used by Windows 7 users with Office 2010 are working fine. Setting the SP sites as Trusted location in IE and Clearing IE Cache did not help. Adding the SP site in Word Trusted Location did
not help. Any suggestions how this can be resolved is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you could not save office file back to the SharePoint Document library.
It may have to something with your Word Settings. When you click new and it opens in MS Word, word treats it as unsafe because perhaps it is not saved. To make it work:
Go to Word (2013) -> File Menu -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings
-> Protected View Tab -> Uncheck "Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations" (2nd option)
Here is the similar post, you can take a look at:
    http://blogs.interfacett.com/word-2010-not-saving-back-to-sharepoint-2010-by-default
If the issue persist, you can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

  • SignalExpress 2010 - Chart time axis format will not change to floating point or anything else

I just downloaded and installed the new and shiny SignalExpress 2010 to replace the old version. And immediately run into major problems:
The x-axis time format refuses to change to floating point or scientific even if I choose them from chart properties. The format is always absolute, e.g. 12:23:54.743. This makes the usage of the chart and the whole application impossible! Is this a known issue and is it going to be fixed soon? And where can I get the old version of the SignalExpress (2009) so I can install it again?

Here is a screenshot of the problem:

  • The Document Type "" will not be added because it uses a file extension that is already associated with a prior Document Type.

I’ve removed the MMDocumentTypes.xml file from the folder Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014 -> Configuration -> DocumentTypes and put it on the desktop. Also, I moved the Extensions.txt file the same way. After a restart, I get the same error message. I uninstalled every extension one by one in every place that I could find (Adobe Extension Manager/DMXzone Extension Manager/https://creative.adobe.com/my_addons), and I uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver… I’m still getting that message. Please, tell me how I can get rid of this error message. It's driving me crazy!

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for your reply. It all happened because of the DMXzone LESS CSS/LESS COMPILER products. When I first got CC2014 a few weeks ago, I went on a rampage downloading all the "cool" app extensions that I could find like most new CC users. That was a big mistake. Half of them don't load correctly, or they get errors. Download from the "add-ons" page at your own peril. After editing the MMDocumentTypes.xml and extensions.txt files to get rid of the original LESS definitions and redefining them, it loaded without the error, but the icons on the "Create New" section of the welcome screen were gone. I completely deleted Dreamweaver again, and this time I included all preferences. After a clean install with no preference files or extensions, I got it working properly. I have to say that the Dreamweaver cloud sync feature in CC saved a ton of time because it had my site definitions waiting for me. Stay out of the DMXzone, if you don't want to be in the damage control zone. =)

  • Adobe flash will not load - gives only a black screen

For all the (3) users on this computer.   For most browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) The browser window goes 100% BLACK when a flash program link is opened and most of the time the cursor / Pointer freezes (occasionally disappears and all keyboard actions are blocked.  Have to force quit or kill the box with the power key (which always bothers me.)  No Adobe links work directly via the link in mail or in browser.  Symptom in Mail is either the original window goes BLACK or a separate window opens in Black.
    Current OS X 10.9.3 (13D65), Memory 4GB on 2.4 GHz Intel core i7 in MacBook Pro  15" Late 2011.
    Relevant?? Items:
    1.     The Adobe company checking device says Flash is not loaded.  I have had flash 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 working before the latest of   OS X upgrades were made.
    2.     An aside, I recently (4 months ago) used a MacKeeper app.  Today (not used except for information gathering) the "System Scan says my ProtectMac anti-virus is active and no security problems noted.  Also noted was "Serious" issue relating to one of 128 issues (474.3 MB of 'junk' files-36.9 MB in 'Logs", 437.4 MB in Caches.)  "Performance" listed as 'Fast.'  No action is taken and System Scan app closed.
    3.     I seem to have lost my copy of Flash 13 in the Applications folder and the install file tries to load  "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_14_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg"
This makes sense as to item 1. above.
    4.      Another user loaded adobe flash 11 from a download file called, "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg."  I do not understand the meaning of  the part of the file name that reads "_11au_" as it seem to differ from other downloads for "_11eu_".  Additionally the copy retained is filed in history and had only the user permissions of one user.  Also that copy _11au_ has no mention of Browser Type in the name description of the .dmg file; but the "_11eu_" does mention Safari browser.   Since it was from July 8, 2013 I assume it doesn't matter and it should have been superseded by Flash 12 OSX.  Mentioned here only for interest.  Also, It may have been saved on this computer in case of rebuild for another user on the home network running 13" MacBook Pro 10.6 Leopard.
    5.  Attempts to reload Flash 13 from 'AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_13au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg' as the "Adobe Flash Player Installer" connects to the latest version not yet installed and keeps downloading the Flash 14, which fails and locks up the browser.
    6.     The download from get,Adobe.com starts out O.K.  After the installer file.dmg completes well, Step 2. is to open it, that, too, works well with an open window of a mounted device on the desktop.  The next step is to double-click the icon.  That only works so far.  A window opens and it has a progress thermometer but it never downloads any product and the link is declared "unavailable" immediately.  Refuses to load and will not always give the pointer back or let the browser continue.
    7.     While creating this 'Summary' something changed.  Using Spotlight I found a different version of Flash Installer on my Mac.  I clicked it to go to the Black screen after installer download competes and got a totally different response.  I was set to take snapshots of the windows as they progressed.  The ".dmg" Icon on the desktop changed from default plain white disk to the red "Flash Player" I had not seen for last 40 days.

Everything went normally and loaded but I cannot test it as all browsers were closed.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
