3D Vision via bootcamp on Mac mini (continued)

Hi
Before I read this archived thread,
3D Vision via bootcamp on Mac mini
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2545736?start=0&tstart=0
I downloaded the latest NVIDIA driver 285.62 for my Mac mini server
(2010,GeForce 320M graphic chip)
for testing hdmi 1.4a frame-packing 3D output under windows7 x64 Boot Camp.
First time,I tried the NVIDIA driver with “recommended install” option,
then it output black screen, I can’t do anything,
so I entered the safe mode,
recover to the origin driver come with Boot Camp 4.01.
I find some suggestion from someone’s experience by Google,
second time, I tried the “Custom install-whole new install”
(or something like this, I did it under international version),
it passed the part where first time fail,
It seems OK then installation completed and reboot.
After reboot,
I can’t enter the boot camp partition by pressing “option”during restart,
The list of choosing HDs or recovery HD option not shown at all,
it just boot into OSX,
I can still see boot camp partition under “Finder”,
but boot camp is gone under Startup Disk control panel.
After repair procedure of Disk Utility,
the boot loader still not shown
& boot camp still gone under StartupDisk control panel.
The driver seems damaged the boot partition table.
I think I need to re-create the Boot Camp partition
and re-install windows 7 again!
Above is my foolish experience.
The question is:
Is there anything I can try to recover my boot loader?
What’s the version of driver successfully support 1920x1080 24p 3D output?
Is the newest NVIDIA driver 285.62 available for mac mini
by modded.inf method mentioned from the archived discussion?
Thank you~

After updating NVidia driver newer than 267.76,
I got black screen after Windows Logo shown during reboot.
After countless annoying tests,
I installed the newest NVidia 285.79 driver without problem finally.
My original prefered display configuration:
link the primary monitor with HDMI port
I already followed the GeForce Driver Installation Guide, step by step,
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=169555
but there's still black screen after reboot.
THEN, I TRIED TO USE mini-DISPLAY PORT INSTEAD AND REBOOT AGAIN,
video signal was connected to my DELL 2707W(only DVI port)
by MiniDP to HDMI adapter/HDMI-DVI cable.
The display is NORMAL NOW !!
Root Cause assumption:
Maybe the driver newer than 267.76 always regard miniDP as primary signal output port,
even if you set the HDMI port as primary.
I think this is a serious bug, but no solution after mote than 30 driver updating.
The following configuration worked on my Mac mini 2010 system:
mini─miniDP to HDMI adapter─
HDMI cable to HDMI splitter─┬HDMI-DVI cable─Dell 2707
                                              └HDMI cable─ 3D projector
but I found that the configuration can't play 3D video...
So I changed the configuration to:
Mac─miniDP to HDMI adapter─HDMI-DVI cable─Dell 2707
      └HDMI cable─ 3D projector
For your reference.

    Hi,
sorry for my english in advance
I have problems to get 3D-Vision to work on my system:
    *Mac mini (June 2010, Alu)
    *Bootcamp, Windows 7, 64-bit
*Acer H5360 projector (via HDMI to Mac mini)
    *nVidia 3D Vision Kit
*the projector is set to "nVidia 3D Vision" mode
    *the projector displays 120Hz
*graphics card in the new Mac mini is the GF 320M
*since the 320M uses an older bootcamp driver (April 2010) i can only use the following 3D Vision drivers from your archive:
    NVIDIA 3D Vision v197.13
    NVIDIA 3D Vision v197.41
    NVIDIA 3D Vision v197.45
*only with one of these drivers installed, i get the "stereoscopic 3D" tab in the nVidia Control Panel
*if i check the "enable stereoscopic 3D" box the 3D Vision wizard pops up:
*the wizard detects the USB-IR-Receiver; it glows green and strong green when displaying the test picture
*the wizard detects the projector as "Acer Projector (0701)"
*everything seems to be ok until now...
*when i turn the glasses on, it glows green - but no shuttering happens, nothing
The 3D Vision glasses won't synchronize or even start to shutter.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi again,
Just tried to download the 259.22 driver and found that the .inf for that version doesn't exist!
Did you just run the standard setup or did you get it working some other way? At the moment, I can install and I get a solid green light on the transmitter, but my glasses don't flash!
Also, I can't seem to set my monitor to 120Hz in the resolution control panel, although the Nvidia control panel detects it as a 120Hz Samsung.
I am using windows 7 32bit, so I guess that may be giving me problems, just trying to figure out exactly what drivers you ended up getting working.
    Thanks again,
    James

  • I am having keyboard problems when trying to boot up an OS (bootcamp on Mac Mini Server)

I recently tried using bootcamp on my new Mac Mini Server.
I uploaded a windows ISO Image perfectly the way it asked, Windows 7, I followed the correct steps, euqally divided one of the hard drives, and I was ready to actually set up the new Windows section of my computer. During this booting session, my dog came in the room with her ball and knocked the computer plug out of the socket. Now when I turn on the mac, the fan still works, the same Macintosh sound comes up, the screen turns that usual very bright gray, but it stays on that gray. After a minute or two, the screen turns black, with a blinking underline, as if it were confused to choose which operating system it has to boot.
My problem here is that I use a wireless keyboard (not by Apple) -- and I suppose that bluetooth syncronizes with the OS and not the computer system itself -- so my keyboard commands do not get recognized in order for me to navigate into Windows 7 or OS X Mountain Lion. I tried solving this problem by purchasing a brand-new USB keyboard (since Mac Mini Servers do not have the PS/2 entrance). I guess this new USB keyboard didn't work, I imagine, either because the USB slots on the machine are not recognized by the computer's internal system, only by the Operating Sysytems (which I hope isn't true), or that the mac had never used that USB Keyboard and wasn't going to be capable of using it until it had installed the necessary drivers, but without the OS running that would become impossible.
So my question is: Is there a way that I can connect a keyboard to the mac so I can continue installing my alternate Operating System? Is it maybe another problem all together?

It is starting to sound more like Bootcamp failed to install properly.

  • I can't install windows 7 in bootcamp on mac mini 2011

I have a 2011 Mac mini (no optical drive). I have a brand new Samsung external DVD drive conntected via USB. I put the Windows 7 DVD (64-bit) in the external drive and the Windows support software is on a USB stick that is in a USB port. I partition the drive in the Bootcamp assistant, then when it reboots all I see is a black screen. Nothing happens. The Mac mini is connected to a TV via HDMI.

Did you format the drive to NTFS (using the windows installer tools) yet?

  • No NIC drivers for Windows 7 in bootcamp on mac mini

    Hello,
I am brand new to Macs but I have been asked to install boot camp and windows 7 64 bit on a mac mini running 10.6.8.  I have gotten windows 7 on the machine and can boot to it but the problem is there are no drivers loaded for the ethernet controller and I can't get on the network.  I tried installing the drivers manually from the snow leapord disc and it says they have installed but they don't.  I upgraded bootcamp on the windows side to bootcamp 3.2 but still no drivers.
When I go into bootcamp on the mac side and try to download windows support software, it tries to download but fails.  I am wondering if I need to upgrade bootcamp on the Mac side but I can't find any download for upgrading it.
Is there a download for windows 7 ethernet drivers for the mac mini somewhere or can I download an upgrade to bootcamp on the mac side to see if it downloads the windows support files?
    Thanks for any help

  • Install Bootcamp on Mac Mini late 2014 Yosemite Fails?

Trying to install bootcamp with Win 8.1 pro on a Mac Mini (Late 2014) under Yosemite and get to the screen on Win 8 side which says 'Where do you want to install Windows?' and I choose the "Drive 0 Partition 4: BOOTCAMP" and the next button never becomes enabled.
There is a message saying "Windows can't be installed on drive 0 partition 4" and an addition message box which says "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS".
At this point I'm dead in the water -- cannot proceed.
Formatting the drive doesnt work and just screws up the whole process.
I've redone this quite a few times and end up in the same situation everytime.
I also tried with Win7 install I had but that failed completely and it never really proceeded after rebooting from Mac side.
    Any ideas?
Is bootcamp busted on Yosemite? I dont easily have another machine I can try it on.
Is bootcamp busted on Mac Mini? Has anyone tried bootcamp on new late 2014 Mac Mini?
    Thanks
    James

    Hi Steve
Its not a fusion drive. The full spec is
2.6GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz)
    16GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
    1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    Intel Iris Graphics
I wanted the size of the drive large as I'm going to use it for just a small amount of Mac work and a very large amount of Windows work.
I did actually click format during a number of the attempts I've tried. It generally formatted and left me no better advanced. Generally it would removed the word BOOTCAMP from the drive. I've even tried deleting the partition and reestablishing in -- that doesnt help either.
My latest attempt has seen that the whole bootcamp partitioning structure is truly busted. When I go back to the Mac and enter bootcamp assistant it says I cannot do anything now and tells me the partitions cannot be changed. Now I'm really not in a great position.

  • Having problem installing Win7 using Bootcamp on Mac Mini 2011

I'm trying to install Win7 using bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011. I first partitionned the disc using Bootcamp assistant. Then during Win7 installation I select Partition 4 BOOTCAMP, format it to NTFS, then when I try to select the drive, it says that the drive is not compatible for the installation.
    Is there anything I missed???
    Thanks

I had a similar problem when I selected upgrade instead of complete install. I want to make sure your aware that you should click the complete option instead of upgrade when you reach that portion of the win7 install. Then you need to select part ion 4 like you have stated and format it to ntfs.
But it seems that you've already done all of that. My advice would be to go back to the Mac side, restore the partition using bootcamp and again partition it. You need at least 25gb of space for 64 bit. I would recommend using at least 40gb. Just trying to help. I apologize if I misunderstood your problems. But make sure you click on the opposite choice of upgrade, I did my mini last night lol but I can't remember the exact name of the option I think it's complete, then select part 4 and click format....

  • Problems with bootcamp on Mac mini (Mavericks) late 2009

    Hi all!
The problem I encounter is that I get an error message saying that the files aren't available on the software update server (?). I don't get to the point where to partition the hdd or in my case the ssd.
I have tried with an external 500 gb hdd (FAT formatted in the mac mini) and with windows on a dvd but it doesn't work. I use 64-bit win7 ultimate, but can use any win7 version as long as it works. The mac has 160 gb ssd, 4 gb ram, dvd-drive, connected to the internet.
Can and would some kind soul help me get past this problem?
The error message loseley translates (from swedish to english) into: Can't install the software since it isn't available on the software update server right now.
    Regards
    Pierre

Ok. I now have downgraded to Mac OSX 10.6, made all the software updating and now i get to the partitioning part. Yay! But since bootcam now is 3.0.4 the win7 64 dvd won't boot. I suspect I need the 4.0.4 version of bootcamp to make that work. This is now undergoing.
If anyone can offer an explanation for this tedious task to get wn7 64 on the computr, please feel free to spek your mind. I know I would like to with some guys at apple...

  • Can i install bootcamp on mac mini snow leopard server 2010

hello, there are 2 harddisks on a mac mini server 2010 (snow leopard server.)i want to use the other hdd for installing Windows home server 2011 x64 .
but there is no bootcamp on the server.(do i have to download it?)
how can i do this,or do i have to use parallels desktop.
i have also a mac mini and a macbook pro and an alienware and a clevo laptop so i want the 2 servers seperate(and the mac-server on all the time)

You would need to install SL (non sever) on you Mac Mini Server.
You may be able to install the nonsever version on your 2nd HDD
-Partition you 2nd HDD to the max BootCamp Partition
-Install Windows Home Server on the BootCamp Partition (don't know of Windows Server is supported)
    So you would have:
    hdd1 - SnowLeopard Server
    hdd2 - SnowLeopard (non-server) + Bootcamp Partition
    Scenario 2:
If you don't have a need for SL Server SW, then wipe out the system and put only the regular SL (non sever) on disk 1. Partition Disk2 for Bootcamp only.
    hdd1- SL (non-sever)
    hdd2 - Bootcamp
I really don't know if you can copy the Bootcamp app onto SL Server OS to create a Bootcamp partition.

  • Unable to play any CD via itunes on Mac mini 10.3.9

My mac mini has been for diagnostic and 'repair' with an approved local dealer, and is now back home. I have tried to play CDs via the disc drive...normally itunes would open, I would click the play arrow and away we go. Now the 'play' arrow and all play menu options are greyed out. I have tried a random selection of my shop-bought CDs, none of which are obscure titles and which used to play AOK, and whose track listings etc were all previously shown in the itunes browser window. All I seem to be able to do is 'eject' any disc once it is in the drive.
All and any help or suggestions will be gratefully received. My Mac mini has 10.3.9 and the itunes is the latest version.
    Thanks to all
    Tony

Hi again Boece...the disc went in OK, but did not launch or load or whatever was supposed to happen. All attempts to eject the disc failed. It would not respond. I followed all the advice in the Apple Mac mini user guide to no avail, (except the one about inserting a paper clip), and then decided that I didn't think it was something I should attempt. I then took it to the dealer and asked them to
    - remove the disc from the drive
    - do a full diagnostic to find out what was wrong with Finder etc.
    - reinstall the programmes and upgrade the memory if necessary
    - save any data they could (without Finder we could not navigate to saved files to save them to an external resource) Catch 22.
Hope that helps, and thanks again for your time on this.

  • No audio via headphone socket - Mac Mini

    2010 Mac Mini 10.6.8
No output via the headphone jack. Audio is working OK via internal speaker / HDMI / Bluetooth / Airplay.
There is a signal going through the socket and cable as noise can be heard (squeal, squeaks, etc, but not a distinguishable output)
    1) Disconnected all USB's etc
    2) Rebooted with different cables for audio and HDMI
    3) Reset PRAM
    4) Apple Hardware Test - all OK
    5) Tech Tool Test - all OK
    6) Checked all setting in Audio Midi/sound preferences
    Any ideas? - Thanks

Trip to Apple store and Genius Bar (Genius my a**e!), where I had a 2 hour wait, 20 minutes with the Genius (I use the term lightly) to be told what I already knew, plus he thinks the headphone output is connected to main logic board and that will cost almost £300 for parts. Dream-on!
On the way home I purchased a £8 Toslink cable (same was £32 in Apple store) plugged it in and hey presto - perfect sound.
So it looks like the headphone socket is stuck in digital mode.
Well at least it's a marginal improvement. Now off to research & establish how many other folks report same issue.

  • Mac mini continually freezes

Hi, I had the RAM and hard drive in my mac mini (PowerPC) upgraded to 1GB DDR (PC2700), and a 100GB, 7200 RPM ATA6 Hitachi Hard drive. I reinstalled Mac OS 10.4 on the new drive. The machine runs, but it continually (at random intervals) freezes and displays the "Your computer muster be restared" window ... you know, the one with multiple languages. I ran the Apple Hardware test that came w/ the machine, and it passed .... so any ideas what's causing it to freeze?

  • Anyone using Creative extrenal sound card via USB w/ Mac mini

There is a sweet deal for Klipsch Ultra 5.1 for $299.99 at London Drugs in Canada.....I'd like to replace my old 4.1s. Id like to buy Creatives"Soundblaster Live 24-bitExternal. Is there any chance anyone out there has done such a thing with thier Mac Minis? Would like to know if someone has this step-up.
    Thanks!

Creative usually doesn't make Mac compatible hardware, meaning that a great deal of Creative stuff that actually runs on a Mac is thanks to the effort of Apple, 3rd party developers or hackers. It's possible to make the Zen work with a Mac, but its support is extremely limited.
    Try these:
    http://hk.geocities.com/hkgiantbear/guide/zen_micro_mac/eng/zen_micromac.htm
    http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/
Anyway, you can always install Boot Camp and run Windows on your Mac Mini whenever you need to access your Creative MP3 player.
