3G better today after AT&T restored service

I'm outside Philly, and like many others today lost my data connection. Funny thing is, now that service has been restored, I'm getting faster and better 3G service than before. I hope it's not only because some turned off their 3G or stopped using data for a while, but has anyone else seen better performance?

Thanks Chris   The phone has been great until this morning.  When using the camera it seemed to shut down, then it was just looping the restart, and finally into recovery   It never rains but pours   Thanks anyway
BTW, the phone has never been jailbroken or anything.  Stock standard

  • IPhone won't turn on after trying to restore to beta version.

I was trying to restore my iPhone to the latest beta version and during the restore, an error occurred and my iPhone won't turn on, and iTunes does not recognize it anymore. Now, when i try to turn it on, the logo appears and then appears the "connect to iTunes" image and IMMEDIATELY the screen turns white and Apple's logo appears again and starts all over again.

If you're a registered developer, you have access to the developers forums. iOS 5 beta can NOT be discussed in the public forums. If you're not a developer, bummer... you shouldn't have installed a stolen beta on your phone, should ya?

  • Email no longer works after an iPad restore

I've tried reinstalling my two email accounts through Settings since doing a restore of my iPad 2, under iOS 7.1.2. I can no longer get either account to send or receive, despite many efforts. Internet works fine.
In both cases I have POP accounts (and please don't sidetrack this with remonstrations that I should use IMAP). One is Gmail and the other is a local provider. They used to work, they don't now.
One thing that has changed is that, as I understand it, Gmail POP accounts can no longer be set up through the "Exchange" option, as I was able to do three or so years ago. Instead I've seen it suggested that I set up the account through "Other". The "Google" setting appears to be for IMAP accounts only.
I've been unable to find clear instructions through Google's help. So far the Google Accounts Team has offered me only generic config settings — not specific to Mail — that don't solve the problem. Ideally there would be definitive screen-by-screen instructions somewhere but I haven't any that work for me.
    Please help!

App opens to blank screen, the borders of the different sections are there.  stays for 10 seconds or do then crashes to the home screen.
interesting note I was trying to send an email with 22 photos before this started happennig(app crashed then as well)
    closed the app
    restarted
    home/lock reset
tried all of the above multiple times
i was able to send an email from pdf expert no problem just now, just for kicks and it was recieved and I got a notification that it was recieved.
ipad 2 ios 8.1.2 just updated today after the issue started (from 8.1.1)

  • I have used Firefox on my computer for several years. Today, after upgrading to the new version, I was not able to open Firefox. I have tried several times uninstalling and re-downloading Firefox. It still will not open! What is wrong?

I have used Firefox on my computer for several years. Today, after upgrading to the new version, I was not able to open Firefox. I have tried several times uninstalling and re-downloading Firefox. It still will not open! Is the new version not compatible with Windows Vista?

I hope that link points to mozilla.com or mozilla.org
You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

  • All applications were "?" On the dashboard after time machine restore to new hard drive...what went wrong?

    Hi folks
I used the cmd R option on booting the MBP and did a disk scan and it reported errors that could not be fixed/repaired.
So I opted to install a brand new 1Tbyte Seagate hybrid hard drive and restore from my time machine backup.
So I installed the new drive in the MBP...it stated that it needed to restore from the internet and I was treated with a rotating globe for about 10 minutes.
It then gave the normal restore options and I opened to format the new drive as a mac drive etc...
Selected the most recent TM backup from USB drive and pointed it to the new formatted HD in the MBP.
So far so good I thought....it said it was restoring....
waited about 4.5 hours and apparently it completed when I was out so I did not see any messages just a normal looking mavericks desktop BUT with "?" In the dashboard where all the applications icons should be?????
I assume something went wrong somewhere so I reinstalled the old HD and restarted TM and it's not starting to backup all 493Gbyte of disk whichI. Understand is normal after a full restore.
So...what to do now??? I'll wait for the 7 odd hours of TM to complete but how best should I proceed with the new HD etc...should I reinstall and copy mavericks to it from a memory stick and then attempt a new restore from the recent TMS backup? Or will this cause issues....
I also have an Inateck hard drive cloning device (brand new never used) so I had wondered if I should simply install the old drive and new drives into this and start the cloning mechanism? OR will this simply clone the errors that were reported on the old drive when it was in the MBP?
In short I'm not sure what to do for the best now and would welcome helpful suggestions as to how to proceed.
    thanks
    Nick

    <<<<UPDATE>>>>
If at first you don't succeed...
Last night after the new 493 Gbyte time machine completed. I once again installed the new drive and restarted the MBP ...waited 10 min for the internet to download the basic disk utilities...restarted the restore from TM and waited 6 hours...Happy days it worked perfectly and like a rocket...the old disk had a read write speed of approx 50-60 Mb/s the new one (hybrid drive) measures at 100-110 Mb/s...programmes open and close noticeably faster and it's better than when the MBP was new...
Apparently this new hybrid drive "learns" frequently used programmes and caches parts that improves start up time etc as time progresses etc...the MBP now starts from cold boot in less than 1 minute compared to 2 plus before...I know minutes should not really matter but it does improve the user experience. I should add I have 16G of RAM installed which does make a difference with Photoshop and Aperture etc.
Hope this helps others or at least encourages people to try hybrid drives over the much more expensive SSD option.

  • Time Machine loses backups after a full restore.

    Greetings
(Possibly due to parallels, my Imac was running so slow or hanging. As a result,) I ran a full system restore from Time Machine. It worked well. Then I thought I would try a better restore date and used that. After this successful restore, I now notice that all earlier backups have been deleted/lost - or at least they are not available on the Time Machine,
The only event in between was to add to the time machine a windows based account file.
Imac seems to run OK now, but files from around July to now are missing.

After a full restore, Time Machine may start a new backup. You can ctrl-click the TM icon and +Browse Other Time Machine Disks+ to view your old backups. I can't be sure, but you could try to go to TM Preferences and Change Disks to see if you can continue to back up to your old TM folder/sparsebundle. Otherwise, you will have 2 backups now, the old one being dormant, but accessible.

Hi Jen.  My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse.  Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too.  Now to the problem at hand.  I have the same problem.  I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade.  Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade.  But I'm sure other factors are involved.  Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem:  What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it.  Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade.  Hope this works.   Charlie

  • After trying to restore my iphone 2g, it is stuck on the connect to itunes screen

I am using it without phone service.
I connected it to my conputer and followed the activation steps.
then it took me to the sync screen where in the middle of the sync itunes said "iTunes could not backup iPhone because the backup session failed"
all through this the iPhone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen

Come on now, someone must know how to fix this.

  • I am going to have to restore my iTunes to a prior date, how can I retrieve apps purchased after the chosen restore date?

I appear to have "lost" many of the songs, and videos, in my iTunes.  The songs/videos show, but  when I attempt to access them, it says it can't find the file and offers to search.  In the search the song/video shows, but is greyed out.  If I restore I tunes to a prior date, how do I retrieve apps that were purchased after the chosen restore date?
    Thanks,
    Dale

Icloud is made up of many services.  you may choose to use or not use any or all of these services.  One of the many services it provides is that it allows you to redownload past purchases.
"I prefer to keep all of my information on my Mac, and a local backup drive."
As you should.  That is why, if you have lost your comtent, you should redownload that lost content from icloud to your computer and back it up, using the directions I provided to you.
"lso, I don't recall setting up a iCloud account. "
Does not matter at all. You do not need an icloud account.  Forget you ever heard the word icloud.  Perhaps if we stop using that word, you will understand.  Itunes now allows you to download your past purchases again - instead of the one download only rule that has existed orior to now.  You can download your purchases to your computer again.
You seem to be getting hung up on the word icloud, so imply forget you heard it.
Follow the direction in the link I provided to download the songs, etc that you have lost.  Once downloaded, they will once again reside on your computer where you can back them up and sync them to device as you always have.
    nothing at all changes.
    Hope this helps.

  • After using TM restore 45 GB added

In January 2011 I had 84 GB on my hard drive that was used and 75 GB available on my iMac.  I had already installed Snow Leopard, upgrading from Tiger, and started using Time Machine on an external hard disk.  I have not added that 45 GB of material to my hard drive since January.  But after doing a restore of the hard disk from Time Machine on April 15, 2011, I now have used 130 GB used and have 30 GB available to use when I click on Get Info for the hard drive.  What has happened?  There is no way I have put 45 GB of stuff on this machine.  It seems as though doing the restore from Time Machine has made the HD think I have used 45 GB more than before.  Is there a fix?  Where are the 45GB coming from?

Thank you for your reply.  You are correct, Apple does not make the restore clear.  In fact, I will go one step further, the Apple support people might not know, either.  When I did my first restore, topic of my post, the Apple representative told me to go to Finder, highlight the HD and then hit restore in Time Machine.  I remember at the time specifically discussing with him whether or not my disks that I bought to update from Tiger were complete install disks for Snow Leopard rather than just an update.  I did call Apple again and this rep told me the first one made a mistake, the way you are describing it is the way it should be done; in other words, put in the Leopard install disk and work from there.  When you do it the wrong way, the way I did it first, you are just copying the OS twice onto your computer.  It is there in the first place running and then you are copying the other files from the TM as if they were data files, not OS files (or something like that, that's my perception)  So the next time I called Apple they told me to do it with the Snow Leopard install disk, the way you are describing it.
You know, most of the time, Apple support is superior and worth paying for.  I feel in this instance, such a basic thing, the first rep must have known.  For whatever reason, he gave me the wrong info.  So be careful when you call support.  If you get someone who, no matter how nice they are (they are all nice), that you sense might not exactly know what they are doing, get off the phone and call in again.  Eighty percent chance you'll get a better rep.

    Hi guys,
Hi, and welcome to the forums.
hope somebody can help me with this issue with TM.
I decided to restore my entire system from a backup I got in an external hard drive ( formatted mac Os Journaled). I didnt exclude any folder from the backup.
Basically using the mac osx installation disk
Which one? If you used a Leopard Install disc, that's the problem. You need to use a +Snow Leopard+ disc to restore a +Snow Leopard+ backup. (Unfortunately, Apple doesn't exactly make that clear -- you are far from the first!)
If your system is not too large, and didn't take more than an hour or so to restore, just do it over.
If it's a lot larger, though, you can just install Snow Leopard. Your Mac should boot up normally, but don't use any apps yet. First, download and install the 10.6.5 "combo" update. Info and download available at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324 Be sure to do a +Repair Permissions+ via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) afterwards.

  • No Service on iPad2 after upgrade to iOS 8. Turning device off and on resolves the issue, but after a while No Service again. Any advice?

TUrning it off and on temporarily resolves the issue, so after a while No Service appears again. Any advice?

Add me to the list. iOS 8 caused the 3G on my iPad to drop out. No Service shows up and the cell number disapears.
Rebooting or resetting Network Connections restores service for a time.
Then the iOS 8.01 comes out and causes the same issue with iPhone 6.
Two two things are for sure: Apple is slipping and the upgrade has serious issues. Oh, and I thought flip phones were dead. iPhone 6 bends into a flip phone. Sometimes I crack myself up.

  • 2012 R2 Essentials - Client Restore Service installation did not succeed.

I have setup the computer backups successfully and I have verified that the workstations are creating the client backups. The issue I have now is trying to setup the Client Restore Service. Initially, it said I was missing the ADK which was expected since
it was a fresh install so I used the link and it downloaded the ADK for Windows 8.1.
Now when I try to setup the Client Restore Service in the wizard, after I click on Start it updates the status to "Customizing WinPE images..." and after 5 minutes, I get the following error:
Client Restore Service installation did not succeed.
Cannot customize the client restore image.
The specified image file did not contain a resource section.
If I click on Start to begin the process again, and I browse to the C:\Windows\Temp folder, I can see the two mounted folders for the customizing process:
    C:\Windows\Temp:
GenBmrWinPETempPath: 8096c353-79cb-4d74-ae8d-3c287fdb735c : which remains empty and removes after failure.
GenBmrWinPEMountPath: c32700c9-7391-4caf-9a7e-af420e96d327 : mounted WIM with directory structure but removes after failure when it unmounts.
During the process, I also see the boot.wim in the following folder, "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Data\ClientRestore\8.100.25984_8.100.25984_6.3.9600.16384\0409\sources", with a filesize of 172,644KB.
the GenBmrState.xml file contains the following information:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><GenBmrJobExecutionInfo xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><Status>Idle</Status><LastStage>CustomizeWinPE</LastStage><OemImagesExist>false</OemImagesExist><AdkReady>true</AdkReady><ImageReady>false</ImageReady><MediaReady>false</MediaReady><WdsImageDeployed>false</WdsImageDeployed><Results><GenBmrJobResultPair><Key>Wds</Key><Value><Failed>true</Failed><Reason>CustomizeImageFailed</Reason><AdditionalErrorCode>0</AdditionalErrorCode><AdditionalErrorMessage>The
specified image file did not contain a resource section.
    </AdditionalErrorMessage></Value></GenBmrJobResultPair></Results></GenBmrJobExecutionInfo>
Does anyone know how to fix the "The specified image file did not contain a resource section" error?

Thank you for your reply! Hopefully answering your questions will provide further input! I did look over the article you linked but that is the same procedure I followed except I receive the error after the ADK is installed and I click on the Start button
which says it is "Customizing WinPE Images..."
    1. This is a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials installation from the Essentials media. It is not a role added to another edition of Windows Server 2012 R2.
    2. Yes, I have rebooted many times and the problem still persists.
    3. Yes, the WinPE-Setup.cab file does exist!
    4. I am copying an excerpt from the log that pretains to the error!
