3G but no internet connection on some apps – Webproxyserver Error

My iphone is connected to the internet via 3g (APN login from provider typed in right) and some apps are able to connect (mail, whatsapp), some arent. For example Facebook shows me push-notifications, but when i open the app to actually read it, there´s only the spinning wheel and nothing more happens. in safari i got this error (translated) after whatching the spinning wheel for at least a minute "safari couldnt open the site. error: there´s been an error while communicating with the web-proxy-server (HTTP)".
Everything works just fine with wifi, but not being able to connect properly to mobile data while paying for an internetplan is kind of annoying.
any ideas ???

* problem solved *
while switching flightmode on and of and rebooting didnt help. resetting network settings helped. thx.

  • MacBook Pro connects with an IP address, but no internet connection to any apps.

I have tried everything I could think of and read about and am still having the same issues. I access a public wifi hotspot for my internet, but all of my other devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Samsung tablet) work just fine.
I have tried all of these troubleshooting tips:
    - removing wifi connection in system pref and readding
    - removing system config folder and restarting Mac
    - removing wireless network from keychain and system pref
    - connected to phone hotspot and other wifi connections wits same results
    - verified and repaired disk permissions
I cant think of anything else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you to all of you who helped.
Yes, she has a static ip address and a dns entered in on the router - apparently someone else in the household logs in remotely to a work computer. I suggested that she contact the person that set up this secure connection so as not to interfere with anything important. The person did as you suggested - gave her new dns to enter and is going to fix whatever needs to be fixed in order to enable others to log on wirelessly without this situation arising again.
So thanks for all your input which enabled her to get so quickly to the root of the problem. She is up and running now.

  • New iMac running lion 10.7.2...partitioned drive for  windows xp pro ...successfully installed...up and running(duel boot) but no internet connection on windows side...need drivers?.....please help

new imac running lion 10.7.2     partitioned HD for duel boot and successfully installed windows xp pro (sp2)....have internet through eithernet cable on the mac side but no internet connection on the windows side....need drivers????   please help

I too am running xp spiii on my mac with lion. However I installed xp while running snow leopard then upgraded to lion and both are running fine. If you have the support disc that came with the imac all the relevant drivers are on there. The only other thing i would suggest is that you get spiii and upgrade to that.
    Hope that helps

  • My iTunes says I owe $5.25 for songs that I have already paid for and am not going to pay for again but I want to get some apps from the store and now there's a hold on my account. Who do I talk to get the hold taken off

I explained it most in my question but I am getting charged double for songs that I have already paid for and am not going to pay for twice because that is messed up. But I want to get some apps from the store and it wont let me because of $5.25. Who can I talk to about resolving this issue?

You're right, it would have been covered under warranty. But because of the user damage, chances are there's a 200-something dollar fee . If you explain to them that it had a defect previously, they might replace it for you at no charge. **MIGHT**. But they would have to believe that it had a defect previously.

  • Hi there can anyone help me out.  I have Apple TV and I am trying to connect wirelessly through a zyxel wireless hotspot gateway, I know a tad extreme but a friend had one free,  anyway I can find the router but no Internet connection?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Connected to network, but no internet connection

Just returned from a one week trip to CA with my macBook. Prior to the trip everything regarding a connection to the internet worked fine... I have an Airport Extreme network set up at home. For the first five days of my trip, everything worked fine as well. Connected to several different open networks (offered by hotels and Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs). Then suddenly I could not get an internet connection with any browser (Safari, Firefox, Flock). At one particular B&B it worked flawlessly one evening, then the next morning at the same B&B, no internet. Yet I was connected OK to the open network. Moved on to another city, a different hotel and network, same problem. I was connected to the network, but no internet connection. In Safari, the blue bar would get as far as the http:, then it would hang there. Now having returned home to my Airport Extreme network, everything seems to be working fine again in all browsers. Any idea what I may have encountered for those two days? I have another trip planned in the near future, and would hate to have this happen again.

I'm sorry but I'm not posting to answer your problem but just to say that I have a very similar issue when connected to my home network through either wireless or ethernet- connection is erratic and pages hang despite showing an excellent signal strength. I have a divided drive and have windows installed on my Macbook. I have no problems on the windows side. My friends who have ipods and iphones have similar problems connecting to my home network. I have no problems connecting wirelessly to any other network that I've tried. This is a real shame as I want to use Mac software but end up in Windows all the time. Any light anyone can shed on this would be very welcome.

  • Airport network connected on full bars but "no internet connection" and missing lock icon!

    this is really frustrating!
I'm using wireless in my house. when i click on my network it connects and it shows perfect connection which is full bars.
on Network Preferences it says that i'm connected to the Airport but when i go to Safari it shows "You are not connected to the Internet" so i click on Network Diagnostic where the 3 network status on top has the green indicator but the ISP, Internet and Server show red and failed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with my internet connection since I'm able to go online using my sister's computer and also on my iPhone.
There's also usually a Lock icon/symbol next to my network's name but when i'm connected to my network the Lock icon seems to be missing but it still shows full bars connection. I really don't get how it's possible to be connected to a network, but no internet connection, while i can access the internet on other devices.
Please help me out here. I've tried ways like going to library>preferences then put the system configuration into Trash, and going to Network Preferences and removing the Airport service and creating a new one.
and one more thing. all mentioned above are when i clicked on Advanced on network preferences then i clicked on TCP/IP and changed the Configure IPv4 from Using DHCP to Manually. When i'm back to using DHCP there's an exclamation point over the airport icon on the top bar and it says no internet connection.

Got my own question answered by a colleague.
He had me create another "Location" in the network pane of System Preferences, then choose it and click Apply. I created a new location which I called 'Airport', chose it and clicked Apply and sure enough, an IP address showed up and all is well.
Justin said it's a network bug in Leopard.

  • Airport Says It's Connected -- But No Internet Connection...

    This is driving me mad...
We're using Airport to connect a 12" PowerBook G4 (10.4.11) to a WirelessLAN (the modem is an Arcor A300 WLAN -- a German make)
We had been having no problems until it one day said "you are not connected to the internet".
I've tried all the restarting the modem rigamarole, and the PB can connect via Ethernet. Opening Internet connect, Airport signal strength is 100%, it states that it's connected to the Arcor modem.
Under System Preferences / Network it states "You are connected to the internet via Airport"
Also, I can see the PowerBook mounted in My Mac Pro's Finder...so it must be connecting wirelessly to the Arcor box --- My Mac Pro is connected to the Arcor Box via Ethernet cable.
Anyone got any ideas, suggestions as to what's going on?
    TIA,

I am having a very similar problem with one of the iMacs here at our office on AirPort. We have four machines using an Airport Extreme, but only one has this issue--a full set of connection bars and access to everything else that is shared, but the internet connection keeps dropping every 15-20 minutes and won't reconnect. From the Airport icon we turn off the Airport, then connect again and it works fine for another 15 minutes until it quits again. I finally had to use a cable to hard-connect that computer to our network and now it works fine, so it can't be the computer itself.
What to do? I'm afraid this problem will start with the other machines, as well. Can anyone assist?

  • Airport Express signal fine but no internet connection

We have been using an Airport Express for wireless Internet access and recently are unable to connect to the Internet. We use a Comcast cable modem, through a Linksys router, to the Airport Express. We can connect by network cable to the router and access the Internet, but are unable to connect wirelessly. We are getting a signal from the Airport Express (the light is green), but no Internet connectivity. We have restarted and done a hard reset (holding the reset button while plugging the Airport Express in) of the Airport Express, but it did not seem to help. The hard reset did not result in resetting the settings, so perhaps there is another way to reset it or perhaps there is another problem.
    Has anyone had similar problems?

I tried power cycling the cable modem, downloading new firmware (why didn't Software Update tell me about this?), deleting the DNS servers, hard reset of AirPort Express, factory reset of AirPort Express, fiddling with AirPort Admin Utility, fiddling with AirPort Setup, all of the above in different order and different combinations, and it still would not work.
Power cycling the cable modem was one of the first things I did, and that resulted in getting Internet connection through the cable modem onto the ethernet cable; just no Internet through AirPort. Finally, after a factory reset of the AirPort Express did not help, I decided to power cycle the cable modem again, even though I had already just confirmed again that I was getting the Internet through the ethernet cable. Once the cable modem finished the power cycle, it finally worked! I was back on the Internet via AirPort!
I'm not exactly sure which solution fixed it for me, but I suspect that it didn't work at first because I did not power cycle the cable modem afterwards. In other words, if after changing AirPort settings you still are not connected to the Internet, try power cycling the cable modem. Do this every time for each change you make to the AirPort settings.
The other thing I learned is that unplugging the cable modem from the wall power outlet or turning off the power strip will NOT power cycle the cable modem properly. Instead, you must remove the power cord from the cable modem. I tried all three of these methods and for whatever reason, the only time it worked was by removing the power cord.

In my earlier post I asked do you have any Anti Virus software installed?
Do you have access to another computer so you could download another browser, perhaps onto a USB stick and then install it on your Mac just to see if the problem is Safari specific:

Installed Snow Leopard OK, but when uploading the Mac OS X Update Combined, it would not save. It said it could not connect to update server, but my internet connection is working. Any suggestions on fixing?

Run software up date, write down the update name and version. Go to the Apple site and do a search for the updates one at a time and download them one at a time. Use an ethernet connection, sometimes software update "crushes large updates. I have experienced this before.  Hope it helps.  ATB

  • TS4006 Someone stole my ipod5 brand new but did not connect to the internet. I had 3000 pics of my vacation - please help. Is there anyone who could possible locate it even without being connected to the internet maybe through some app that I had or whate

Help please. Anyone has a way of tracking my ipod touch 5 even offline. had all my 3000 pics from this vacation here in the US. I had some apps....anyone please. The Find my ipod is notable to lock or locate because is offline....HELP PLEASE I will take any advice... It was stolen in a McDonalds that had wireless but was not connected...

I'm an plug and play, aka, intuative Apple OS "cooler", or a guy that has been most likely to "tilt" even the most bug free Apple software and maybe even hardware, and unqualified to give advice, except for the fact that I had my iPad and then my iPhone boosted a year ago. May I ask, did you ever log in to your app; "Find my iPhone" and go through the registration process? If you did, you would have had to have registered it into "mobileme" or the ancestor of mm, the name escapes me, or you would have had to "iCloud it", the implications of which, I'm just barely scratching the surface (<--ADHD) but that's the kind of thing I would have, and did do, even though I didn't have a clue, what it was for, or understand how to incorperate it into my resources at the time, I'm just a "register here" factory, that registers first and askes questions later. If you did this, I suspect you may have a reason to hope a a GPS kite string that millions of theft targets like us are longing to see, return your device, for Christ Sakes! i do know that, if you did you, can access the signal blip, location from any smart device, with internet access and your log in/password, that you will need to remember, track down, or if all else fails, ask Support to assist, by in my case jogging my memory, until it came to my low watt brain, the log in id, I had used.
Boy what a lot of blather, hope it was helpful, somehow, my point was that Cloud is the modern MobileMe, and it's prediscessor. Mozl Tov!
