3g connection for ipad2 wifi

Hi can anyone help?before i start i am no comp tech so please dont woffle tech terms or i shall be lost lol ! i have bought hubby ipad2 wifi for his birthday ( saved as hard as i could but couldnt afford 3g version ) how can he connect when there is no wifi available?he hasnt got an iphone so cant run through the data allowance on that but i wondered if there is any devices? it ok when he is in his hotel but during the day he is out and about in his car and cant always find a wifi hotspot !!hope there is a solution :-) thanks

You can get mifi devices which take a sim card and act as a mobile hotspot. I don't know what country that you are in, but have a look in your country's carriers stores for 'mifi' or 'mobile internet' and see if they have anything available - those that need to be plugged into USB ports (e.g. for use on laptops) won't work with the iPad as it doesn't have a USB port.

Siri does Not work on the iPad 2.  iOS 7 is not even out yet, so we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to upgrade to it.

  • Printer klling internet connection for all wifi devices in office

    Hi!
We bought office jet 8600 pro and connected it to the main office desktop computer through ethernet cable. This main computer is also connected to wifi router.
All other laptops in office are using wifi router for internet and for printing.
As soon as we installed new printer it started to conflict with alll wifi devices in office. Basically all laptops and phones loosing internet connection for 2-15 minutes. Usually when somebody from main computer is using printer.
I read in another thread about similar problem and tried to fix this by checking firmware version of router and making a static ip for printer. I put printer to 192.168.1.250. It didn't work, internet keep going down. As experiment i made a static ip for my own laptop too -192.168.1.50. it didn't work too. Need help. Thank you!

Sorry. Actually we have 2 routers. First one is working as a connector for ethernet and another one is a wifi router. Printer is connected to the router(connector). Wi-fi router is connected to router(connector) too.
If printer is connected to the router(connector) every 5-10 minutes wi-fi for all computers in the office become restricted (without internet access).
As soon as you are pulling out the ethernet cable from printer, everything works fine.
There are two computers that sharing printer by ethernet cable. Others are using wi-fi connection through  both routers to connect to the printer. Wi-fi printing is working good by the way.

  • Wi Fi Connection for IPad2

I have done all I know to connect my IPAD2 to my home wireless system. I used DHCP and entered the password it was accepted but I still can not connect. Any Ideas out there?

Try the 'Renew Lease' button in the WiFi settings of the iPad, it is in the details of the WiFi connection you have selected.

  • Hotspot options for Ipad2 Wifi

    I am very confused.
Before purchasing the ipad2 i did the search about the tethering trough iphone 4 (AT&T) and I read that I could use iphone as hotspot. I contacted AT&T 3 different times (chat, over the phone, at the store) and they tell me that I cannot use iphone 4 tethering to have my ipad 2 get connected on the net. I don't understand why the other device can be connected through iphone 4 but not ipad 2.
I am looking for the other options for me to get the internet connection with ipad 2. Or if anyone has the success tethering through iphone 4.
I have CLEAR but they don't have the app I believe so I cannot connect. I am thinking about canceling that.
I am a bit disappointed as I thought it wouldn't be as complicating as it is.

Check this thread.  It begins with Verizon, but someone discusses ATT's tether plan, and how you can lose the grandfathered unlimited plan.

  • How can I connect my iPad2 WiFi (no 3G) to my wired DSL modem (not wireless capable)?  is there an adapter I can connect to the modem?

Yesterday I ordered an iPad 2 WiFi version (no 3G) and I want to know if it's possible to connect it to my DSL modem that is not wifi/wireless.  Is there some sort of wifi adapter I can buy to connect to the modem or do I need to buy a wireless router?
    TIA

If you have a desktop that can do "Internet sharing" and wi-fi, you may be able to use that instead of buying a router. I haven't done tihs recently but played with it with my iMac before I bought a wireless router.
But a router is the better option. They're not expensive and recent ones have some decent security. I have a Netgear WGR614 (v10) with a firewall built in making me double firewalled on the desktop (where all the really critical stuff lives like banking info and all) and it has an "access control" option where you not only password your network but specify exactly which devices can connect at all. Something I like because the signal reaches the street outside the house. That's a bit more "reach" than I like. Though, funny thing, my brother (who's iPad is authorized to use my net) did a quick update by pulling into my driveway once while I wasn't even here.
Any wireless can have a surprising reach. I live in a fairly rural area and I pick up on other peoples' wireless all the time. Which, out here, I did not expect.

  • Anyone used Airport Express to use hotel wired connection for iphone wifi?

I'm thinking of getting a Airport Express to take overseas. It appears a lot of hotels offer free wired internet access but charge for wireless.
    Anyone done this?

Yes. You connect Airport Express to the hotel room's ethernet connection. You have the Airport Express distribute IP addresses (NAT). You can then connect computers and devices to your Airport's wireless network.
Some hotels don't have wireless but charge for wired. Using an Airport Express in this manner allows you to connect more that one device for the one charge.

  • Can i backup my new TC while leaving old TC connected for the wifi?

My original TC (500gb) is full so purchased a 2Tb.  I want to do initial backup with ethernet while leaving the old TC connected as the wireless device.  My router is in another room and I don't want to move my computer into a different room for days.

Ah, details. Sorry for the confusion.
Might be worth the time savings to invest in a long Ethernet cable and run things that way overnight to allow the copies to go at a much faster pace. Backups usually run at about 30-35 GB per hour or more using Ethernet, so you get 300-350 GB copied overnight.
Otherwise, you have no choice but to relocate and reconfigure things.

  • Amazon Q&A - E4200 - Drops Connections for Wifi Thermostats etc.

    Date: Sep 18, 2012 1:01:07 PM PDT
I have issues as well. Drops connections for thermostats (Wifi) and other devices. Range mediocre as well. Will be replacing it. Linksys has gone downhill.

Hi  there. Is your E4200 a hardware version 1 or 2? Have you tried to change the wireless channels on the router? If you're trying to connect to the 2.4 ghz band you can try channels 1,3,6,9, or 11. There are external factors that we have to consider when it comes to wireless connectivity - distance, interference with other wireless devices. If you have tried those, you can try to update the firmware of the router which you can find from Cisco's homesupport site (http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/E4200).

Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

  • Ipad2 'fails to connect' to my Wifi.

My Ipad2 'fails to connect' to my Wifi whereas my Iphone 3GS successfully connects and works without issue on the same router. Wifi is WEP encrypted with 26 character code. The Ipad 2 sees the network, yet will not connect. I have tried the 'reset network settings' option and I'm looking for any further suggestions?

The process of checking your router settings depends on the router you have.  You will need the manual that came with your router.  If you don't have one, you probably can download a manual from the router manufacturer's website.
Basically the process is starting your web browser on a computer that is connected to your network.  Entering the IP address of the router in the web address line.  Usually the IP address of the router is the same as the IP address of the computer connected to your network except the last number is 1.  For example if the IP address of the computer is 192.168.0.132, then the IP address of the router would be 192.168.0.1.
The next question you may have is how do you find the IP address of the computer. If you have a Windows computer, go to Start/Run or Start/Programs/Accessories/Run. Type in "CMD" (no quote marks) and press the Enter key.  A DOS window will appear.  At the command prompt type "ipconfig" and press the Enter key.  The resulting listing should show you the IP address of the computer and the IP address of your router (listed as Default Gateway.)  If you have a Mac I can't help you, because I don't have a Mac, but I'm sure someone on this forum would be able to help.
Once you enter th IP Address of your router, you should get a login screen.  You will need to log into the router.  Note that the login password is not the network passcode.  If you do not know the Admin login name and password and you are sure no one has changed the password from the default, the router manual will have this information.
When you are logged into the router you need to consult the router manual to find out how to check the settings.  If purchance you have a D-link DIR-625 I can help.

  • HT2497 Using Time Machine for home wifi just fine. Switched to cable modem from DSL.  Now having trouble connecting laptops to wifi. ISP says it is not their fault. Mac books won't connect on their own.

Changed from DSL to cable modem. Now Mac book pro won't connect to wifi - Time Machine?
One Mac ok, other not. Help?

Thanks. We have been using an existing Time Machine for wifi.  Cable modem replaced DSL router and was hooked up to Time Machine. What's odd is that 3 computers and iPad2 are connecting to home wifi just fine, using exact same network and password as before. My Mac book pro and an older iPad are not. IPhones are also connecting to home wifi just fine. I managed to get my Mac book pro hooked one time by copying ip address from a Mac that was working (entered manually) then turning that one off. That's not what I need.
The error message is "no ip address".

  • The IOS5 download seems to be conflicting with my IPAD2 wifi connection.

I have downloaded the IOS5 upgrade to my IPAD2.  Since then I have had difficulty with the Ipad connecting to the wifi.  Every time I manually  get it connected to wifi the wifi will disconnect with my other devices such as my Iphone.  I have tried just about everything and nothing works.  Any ideas?

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.
