3G iPhone/Mini Cooper iPod Issue

I bought a 2010 Mini Cooper and the accessories cable that came with the car works to charge the iPhone but we keep getting a message that my phone's iPod is not compatible...any ideas???

I have a Mini Clubman and usually get that message when I first plug in the phone.
I think this happens with most non Apple plug in's but they still work, it's just annoying.

  • Mac mini mini cooper ice cream truck-upgrade to iphone?

have a mac mini PPC g4 installed in a mini cooper ice cream truck.
the lcd touchscreen and carnetix power supply kinda suck.
I'm using the touchscreen as a point of sale inventory system to keep track of stock/slaes, but screen is not bright enough to overcome daylight readability.
I'm thinking of swapping out the 7" monitor with a iphone or ipod touch with some sort of point of sale application. I'd like to then just use the mac mini as an external drive for the iphone. is that too crazy? have i finally gone over the edge in modifications? is there such an application available?

In addition to glare films, you might also try a monitor hood, a la these:
    http://www.photodon.com/p/105.html
I doubt that you'll find one premade for a 7" monitor, but it wouldn't be hard to construct and mount one with some cardboard and velcro/double-sided tape.
The only actual point-of-sale app I can find in the App Store is Ring It Up:
    http://www.pingysoft.com/site/RingItUp.html
Here's the URL to it in the iTunes Store: RingItUp.
There's also a Lite version, though I don't know what the differences are.

  • IPhone 4S stopped pairing with my 2007 Mini Cooper 4S

I'm an IT guy of 15 years. I have been on several deployment teams for PDA, then Smart Phones. Recently my iPhone 4S stopped pairing with my 2007 Mini Cooper 4S. I went through the gauntlet trying to get this issue solved including but not limited to the following.
Trying to pair my wife's brand new iPhone 4S to the same Mini Cooper! (DID NOT WORK EITHER!)
Resetting network settings. (Did not work)
Wiping my iphone 4 and restoring it. (Did not work)
Called Apple support and they offered me a new phone. (A new phone is not going to fix the problem if my wife's brand new iPhone 4S will not pair either)
Successfully paired another phone (Droid) to my car.
My 15 inch MacBook Pro can see my iPhone 4S but my iPhone cannot see my Macbook Pro either!
There is a huge amount of complaints on the internet regarding the latest bluetooth update with IOS 5.1.1, people are having the same issue with bluetooth dropping pairing with their automobiles!
Apple let it slip on the phone that they are aware of this issue.
My phone worked fine until IOS update 5.1.1 I may try to restore back to an earlier IOS.
My phone worked for a few months with bluetooth and was a little flaky since getting the 4S it worked much much better with the iPhone 4. When I got the iPhone 4S that's when spotty issues with the bluetooth became noticible including the system dropping on calls and reverting back to the handset vs the speaker system. I had to apologize to several customers while on the phone. I thought I was doing something wrong, but realize now that this phone has issues with the bluetooth.
In closing I would like to simply say that if this iPhone 4S does have hardware problems then Apple is going to have a lot of ticked off people because it's a hardware problem with the design in general and they will have an iPhone recall or suit on their hands. Because I can assure you this is a bluetooth problem with every iPhone 4S, it's not a coincidence that my wife's iPhone 4S with the same 5.1.1 IOS will not pair with my car either. So for Apples sake I hope this iPhone bluetooth issue can be fixed with an update! Best of luck Apple. I'm not going to beat up on you guys because I am diehard Apple and I love your products, but please fix this issue. We have phone ordinance laws in various burbs in Cleveland and they will fine you for talking on your handset.

Well the good news is all that fell on deaf ears we are all users here not Apple
The clue is in the User Communities title
It is not the responsibility of Apple to ensure EVERY item in the world is compatible
which is why goes to great lengths to share iOS changes and hardware with any "Developer"
that is interested Including BMW/Mini and every other Auto manufacturer
Have you called in at your Mini Dealer to check if they have a Bluetooth update
If they haven't ask why not ,technology is moving forward daily
and clearly if they do not keep up you will have problems
Expect a charge it is Apple that gives free updates to their customers

  • Ipod Classic+mini Cooper

I have a new ipod classic that doesn't connect to the mini cooper interface. My older nano worked fine. Ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I'm not familiar with the mini Cooper interface, but it could be that there are some compatibility issues with the new iPod.
You could try resetting the iPod while it's connected...
    Reset iPod
Also, make sure that all of the software on the iPod is up-to-date via iTunes (make sure it says that software is updated). If there had been an issue, it may have been fixed with a recent update.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Mini Cooper, iPhone 5 iOS 7 and adapter

We have a problem with the iPhone 5 adapter in our Mini Cooper.  Audio and Mini Connected is not working.
At BMW and Mini they told me I need to wait for a new model of this adapter.
When can I buy this compatible adapter?

    Hiya Daniel,
Presume you have media on your countryman as you have the MINI connected app going ?
Firstly, as daft as it may sound but is both the USB and jack plug fully pushed in to the connectors in the MINI, even if the jack plug is not fully in will prevent the audio coming through.
Are you using a non media cable in a media car?
My cable with lightning connector arrived from BMW. Final cost was £51 with a bit of discount.
The connector works excellently, not convinced it improved the sound quality much, but I think it is better than using the lightning adaptor.

  • Aux cable for Mini Cooper too short for Iphone.

Just purchased a Mini Cooper and the AUX cord that connects the Iphone to the Bluetooth is too short to reach my vehicial mount.  I need a longer cord or an extention.  Anyone have any ideas?

You said it was an aux cable. nothing you said indicated it was proprietary in any way. If it is not an aux cable, but a dock cable, those are usually proprietary to the auto manufacturer. If they don't have anything, try e-bay, but beware the cheap chinese junk out there.

I reconnected the iPod with the radio off and then turned radio on. iPod still wouldn't work for me, but the Genius at the Apple Store was able to get it going. He restored the software and advised me to charge it. Now it's working fine. Yea!

  • Ipod connector for Mini Cooper

This week I took delivery of my very first Mini Cooper which I'm very excited about (). I have an aux cable so can listen to my iPod Classic in the car however I can't use the controls on my steering wheel to change the tracks nor are the songs showing on the display. I've read that I need a Y Cable connector (I think!) but not sure which is the one I need? (the car is a 2014 plate)
    Would appreciate any advice!
    Thanks

Presumably, the AUX cable plugs into your headphone socket on the iPod. If so, that method cannot charge the iPod or be controlled from the steering wheel.
Your car's stereo will need a cable that plugs into the 30-pin Dock connector on the iPod and goes into an input on the car that is designed for that sort of connection. From there, the car's stereo should be able to control the iPod and charge it. Note my use of the word "should". The AUX socket of a car's stereo will not work.
I recommend that you talk to the supplier of the car.

  • Ipod And Mini Cooper

I have a brand new 5.5 Generation Ipod Video, and a 2006 mini cooper with the factory installed ipod adaptor. When I plug the adaptor into the ipod (it's a regular dock connector), they recognize each other at first, but after one or two songs, I am no longer able to switch tracks or playlists. It seems like the ipod freezes up. Then when I go to remove the ipod from the adaptor, the screen is stuck on the "ok to disconnect" screen that shows when the ipod is connected. I'm forced to reset the ipod every time I take it out of the car. Any ideas why the ipod and the adaptor don't seem to be working? Everything is fine for one or two songs, and then something happens and it gets stuck. The ipod came with firmware 1.2, and I have itunes 7.0.1 on my computer. The mini dealership advised me to contact apple, they say it's not the adaptor causing the problem. Help!
    imac g4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Here's an idea, but you may not like it. I have had success in "down-dating" my iPod to software verion 1.1. Every time I've updated my iPod to any software version after 1.1, I too lose functionality of the iPod with my Mini's controls after two or three songs.
Sure, you're working on older iPod software, but the audio quality doesn't change. If you have games and other things on your iPod 5G that requires the latest software, you'll have to tolerate your un-functioning iPod in your Mini. But otherwise, "down-date" your iPod software to 1.1 and it'll be fine. You can find that software at this link: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060110.html
    Good luck!

  • IPod nano with mini cooper

I have the mini factory iPod connector installed in my mini. It works great with my iPod mini. I just purchased a nano. when I plug the nano into the car, it works fine, but when disconnecting the nano stays in the "mini" mode. The only way I have found to recover from this is to either reset the nano or plug it into my iMac. Has anyone seen this probelm and if so any resolutions?
    Thanks.

Did the 6th gen. nano have any changes to the connection port??
    No.
Try resetting the iPod before trying to connect it again to see if that makes any difference. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, try another cable just to be sure.

  • Mini/BMW iPod Interface doesn't show all playlists

The iPod interface that BMW created for the Mini Cooper is pretty dandy. It does have a few limitations, one of which is that it will not show more than 255 items in a list. Meaning, If I have 500 artists on my 160GB Classic, only the first 255 will be accessible using it. The same is true for songs/albums/playlists.
So, to make this long story shorter, I can only get the interface to display up to the 57th playlist. My understanding was it should show 255, based on the instructions.
I have the 160GB ipod classic, and planned to have issues accessing all the artists on it, so I made playlists. I figured if I pick my favorite artists, make "best of" playlists, as well as a bunch of mix playlists, I should be fine. Sure enough, made 'em and had around 90 playlists, none in excess of 255 tracks. I figured I'd connect up and be good to go!
Well, surprise, surprise, only half the playlists showed up. I was getting around 55 instead, and weird thing is that the last playlist would cut off part-way through.
So, last Saturday I spend a lot of time running back and forth between my Mac and my car rearranging the lists and trying to find the rhyme and reason behind what I could access in the interface.
To backtrack, I have the Sat Nav, and just got Sirius installed last week as well. The software is definitely as up-to-date as it can get for now.
Anyway, to make a long process a shorter story: it turned out the playlist list (CD 1) is not solely based on items inside the folder. I don't have the exact number, but the number of playlists is based upon the number of tracks in them, up to around 5000. For example, if I added tracks to a playlist that appeared earlier alphabetically, it would cause the number of songs in that last playlist to decrease by the number of songs I added. If I shorted or removed lists from the top of the order, the number of lists added at the bottom was based not on the number of lists I deleted but the number of tracks in those lists.
I also wiped my 160GB iPod and re-did all the playlists, cleverly titled "Test 1" through to "Test 25."
The result: I could see 20 playlists, each averaging 240 tracks. Around 5000 tracks again. This doesn't seem to be an issue with my iPod, it seems to be the adapter.
Anyway, this wasn't what I expected, and so I give the warning to those with very large libraries that there really is no good way to access all your music without a great deal of advance planning, and even then the best you seem to be able to do is access 5000 of your tracks. Which is actually a ridiculously large amount of music, unless of course you have 11,000 on your iPod and got the interface expecting to be able to access just about everything. However, for most users, it is still a pretty great product.
If anyone finds they have a different experience with their ipod adapter, I'd love to hear about it. I sure hope it's not a situation specific to my car. If there's anything anyone out there can think of that might help from the iPod side of things, please let me know, otherwise consider this a word of warning to avoid the MINI/BMW iPod adapter if you have a large library!

i don't think "all" unwatched appear in there.. only some portion... at least that is how it has worked for me. since i've re added a bunch of my movies a littel while back to the library (after adding meta data to them) unwatched would be something like 100+ movies which likely wouldn't be a good thing if they were "all" listed there..

  • Nano 7G + MINI Cooper 2006 = No charging?

I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S with the standard (circa 2006) MINI/BMW IPOD G3 interface kit, so there's a 30pin iPod docking connector in the glovebox. My trusty iPod 4G Photo (60GB) gave up the ghost, so I got a 7G Nano to replace it, along with the Apple 30pin-to-Thunderbolt adapter, so it could connect to the MINI interface.
The MINI head end will (usually) recognize the Nano (oddly, it will show up somtimes as CD7, and I have to manually re-start the Nano everytime I start the car), but it's definitely not charging it.
Am I doing something wrong, or did I buy the wrong thing? I just tested my iPhone 4S and when connected to the MINI adapter, it noted something along the lines of "this accessory will not charge this device." The Nano 7G doesn't say as much, but it's clear it's not charging it.
    Help?

  • IPAD mini IOS8 storage issues

    Hi,
I just installed IOS 8.1.2 on my IPAD mini and it has used up about 6GB of memory!  Anybody else had this issue?  How idea as to how to resolve this?
    Thanks.

    Hello Millie_c2,
Thanks for providing more information on the issue you're having with the iPad.  Since you're seeing a lot of space being taken up in "Other" usage, please follow the steps outlined below.
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Cheers,
    Alex H.
