3G iphone outstanding spec! Shame about the plastic back cover!

WOW I am so totally blow away by the spec of the new 3G iphone!
I have only one criticism why when Apple put so much care into the styling of the new Macbook Air & the first gen iphone/ipod touch etc with sleek brushed metal finish to the case have they opted for a plastic back cover on the new 3G iphone?
I hope if they are giving us the option of a black or white back cover that they have a rethink and also give us the option of a metal back cover too!!! Just a thought...

There is a simple reason that it has a plastic case.
In side the new phone there are 10 radio transmitters / receivers that all need access to the outside world via a radio transparent material. The radios are the multiple phone standards for world coverage, GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi. A metal case would not allow all these signals to pass through.

Apple does not sell replacement parts. Google may
provide some assistance but there is no guarantee
that third party components will work. Apple or Apple
Authorized Service Provider should be able to repair for a
fee, but will not sell you the parts.

Restore the new phone from the backup of the old phone. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    Also, as applicable,

  • Iam having returning my i  apple wil not take it back because its the wrong back cover any one help

iam having problems with my i phone it has signal problem apple have had a look said the same thing but wil not take it back because it has the wrong back cover it ment to be white and mine is black any one help

What kind of help do you seek? If you changed the back cover Apple will probably consider that a modification and ineligible for warranty service.
You may be able to get the phone replaced for a fixed fee, but I do not know if a modified phone would be accepted.

iOS 7 devices need iTunes 11.1 or newer to sync.  Depending upon your computer and the OS it is running, you may not be able to upgrade to iTunes 11.1 based on the requirements for iTunes 11.1.  What computer and OS are you running your iTunes on?  From the iTunes download pages I see the requiorements are:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

  • Will the plastic backing of my Iphone be ok to leave on?

i NEVER take Flash pictures..and the otterbox on my Iphone 5 leaves the camera well..naked.
so I  left the plastic on and popped it into the case...yeah the flash pics look weird but when I don't use flash everything is just fine...might this harm my phone?
    Thanks Apple Fam =)

    Harm the phone, no.
As you've seen, it will cause pics to look weird when using the flash.
Depending on the ambient air temperature and how hot the device gets, the plastic might melt to the phone/case.
There is a reason why cases have a cutout for cameras... not having one will cause image issues.

  • Volume question...not about the plastic cover...

I have the plastic cover removed and it's still hard to hear people throught the earpiece...
When I first dial the number and put the phone to my ear, I hear the first ring or two and they are pretty loud...then there's a big decrease in volume on about the third ring...almost like the phone senses the volume is too loud and it turns it down automatically...WHAT IS IT DOING?
Is this normal? Anyone else notice this? If it didn't do this I think the earpiece volume would be ok... any ideas?
    Brian

    Brian,
I've noticed the exact same thing with mine. I have hearing issues so I thought it was just me. Lately I've noticed it more and more though. I hope someone out there has a response.

  • What about the plastic insert?

I have a slight problem. I put a new cooler on my video card. When I tried to put the powermac back together I realized that the cooler stuck up too far to completely close the plastic insert. I went ahead and put the main silver cover back on and when I went to use my mac a red light lit up behind the start button and all my fans sound like they're on turbo speed. Do I HAVE to use the plastic insert? If I do can I possible notch it so I can keep the new video card cooler? Otherwise this kind of *****.

    Hi Brent Austin-
According to Apple, and I would presume correctly indicated, the deflector is vital to properly cooling the innards.
I am sure that a modification would void your warranty.
Have you done a search for modded G5 cases? I just did and I think Google may be your friend on this one.
    Luck-

  • Macbook pro the plastic hinge cover making a creaking noise.

I just resently brought the macbook pro about a week ago and now it is making a creaking noise
coming from the hinge whenever I close the lid. Should bring it back for a repair or is it not big of a deal.

I've since figured out that it has to do with the back cover... For those of you qith squeaky hinges- have you removed the back cover at some point?  I found my cover was not on perfectly-straight for the screws... Line the holes up very carefully... In any case, if you have squaking, remove the three long screws from the back cover, and like magic, where'd the creaking go!?

  • Questions about the Buy Back Program

If I purchased a phone today that costed $600 but $200 with new 2 year contract activation, would the Buy Back program money back percentages come from the $600 or $200?
Also in about 6 months if I decided to return the phone for another that costed (imaginary prices) $700 but $300 with a new 2 year contract, would the money I got back from the first phone go towards the new contract price ($300) or would I have to pay for the phone in full ($700)?
    Thanks in advance.

    Crystallee,
Thank you for your kind replies to my question, but I'm still not getting it.
Please let me give a specific scenario that could happen with my situation.
I bought the Nexus s unlocked for full retail of $529.99 from my local retail Best Buy about 3 weeks ago.  I also purchased the "Buy Back" program with it.
I then walked next door to the T-Mobile store with phone in hand and opened a non-contract "Even More Plus" month to month plan.
At that time my current line contract with AT&T had expired, so I had no early termination fee when I cancelled service to start with T-Mobile.
Now, If I decide to purchase a new phone four or five months down the road, my understanding from the sales associate at BB, is that I would give over my nexus to BB in exchange for a BB Gift card in the amount of 50% of what I paid originally, $529.99 for the Nexus s.
I could then proceed to open a new line of service with another carrier that BB sells, i.e. Sprint or Verizon and would only be liable for the new contract price for that new phone, and I would be able to use the Gift card from the nexus turn-in (Buy Back) to pay for the new phone on a new 2yr. contract.
That was the understanding I had from the BB sales associate, who I think was a lower level manager.
Let me know if I have misunderstood the "Buy Back" process as I've described it here.
Thank you again for your patience.  My son would understand all of this.  I'm getting too old! (lol)

  • I want to restore my iPhone 4s and ONLY put the contacts back on it. Help?

I cant figure out how to do this. I dont want to restore from a backup. How can i ONLY get the contacts back? I tried iCloud, but it wont backup anything, it only says "estimating time remaining." Can someone please help?

Sync your contacts to a supported application on the computer, such as Address Book, Windows Contacts, Outlook. They will sync with the phone. Once you have synced these contacts, then restore the phone as new, then sync the contacts to the new phone. Problem solved.

  • About the Roll back mechanism

From the specification I know that when an instruction is a long-delay operation the instructions behind will be roll back, the question is how the queue of the thread recover?
for example, when encounter a store instruction, the instructions in E and D stage of the pipeline will be roll back, but the very instruction stay in the M stage, when the memory acess operation finish, how the schedualer recover the instruction queue?
    Any comment is welcome, thanks

As I understand the documentation, a thread will roll back and (if the instruction in flight is a long latency instruction or a resource conflict) go to a Wait (not-ready-to-issue) state. The rolled-back instructions will not re-issue until their input conditions are resolved. Remember that the F and S stages (where the instructions are rolled back to) are Fetch and Thread Selection, so this is before instructions are picked from any of the threads on the core and before they are decoded. The in-flight instruction will continue from the M stage when the memory operation completes.
Also, I think the rollback condition caused a store operation only happens when the store buffer is full, not on all store operations.

    Hi ...
If you can't remember the Passcode, if possible, restore the device from the computer it was last synced with by placing the device in recovery mode.
Instructions here   > iOS: Unable to update or restore
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be presen
