3G iPhone saying I need a restore
I have had my phone for a couple of months now. This morning I woke up and the display showed I needed to connect to iTunes. I did so. When I plug my phone in it said my phone needed to be restored before I could use iTunes...... Okay, I dont have much info on my phone that I would miss and most apps can be replaced. So I go ahead with the restore. It tells me that it cannot be done with an error code of 9. Been to the trouble shooting site, I have tried 5 wires on all 3 of the ports that are on my laptop (my main and only computer). But the outcome is always the same. Anyone help out there Im pretty much dead in the water w/o my phone like Im sure most people are.
Also. When I start the restore, it extracts the files on iTunes. Verifies the restore with apple, then when it prepares for the restore my phone proceeds to change screens from the 'connet to iTunes' screen to the apple logo, then to a progression bar on my phone. At that point it will kinda do a flash thing then the error message will pop up with error code 9 and start from square one again. But like I stated in my above post I have used 5 different cables that have worked for me in the past in the 3 ports on my computer and it has not resolved anything.

Hi folks, just yesterday i can restore my iphone 4 that have a problem when i restore from itunes, when i do the restore from itnes, always showed me the following error:

what I did was this: just when I will finish the process, when the status bar is at the end in the firmware, only put the sim card and go back to take out, I do this like 4 or 5 times and the process restoration ends so well. This method I tried it 2 times and 2 times worked. I spent like 10 hours trying to restore iphone without results, until I started watching the logs and the key is when you are upgrading the firmware sends a command to answer yes. And I hope this helps.

I tried to update my iPhone 4S but I now keep getting an error saying I need to restore my phone before it can be used because it's in recovery mode! But if I restore it I lose all my media and data and I don't want to do that! Is there anything I can do?? Somone please help, i'm freaking out over here!
Anything that was on the phone is already gone. You have no choice but to restore. If you were backing up and syncing the phone on a regular basis, you should be able to restore your backup with minimal data loss.

it says connect to itunes and then says you need to restore your iphone, so i restore it and then it says 'preparing to restore iphone' and has said that for 8 hours then it says it cant be done, what do i do?

My iphone 3gs says I need to restore my phone with itunes. when i connect the phone it says i need to unlock the phone which i cannont due because of the caution on the phone. How do i fix this?
Hold down the power button and home button at the same time until the phone powers on, shuts back off, powers on again and continue to hold it until it shows the itunes logo to plug in to itunes. This should allow you to restore without unlocking it.

It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -
I have updated my iPhone tithe new software and my phone is now saying connect to iTunes I have tried to do this but iTunes is saying I need to restore my phone help! My phone will now not turn on and only shows connect to itunes
Then connect it to iTunes. Hope you backed it up, because the restore will wipe your phone.

I have an old ipod. It worked great until about 2 months ago and now it says I need to restore my ipod but I can't unless I format it, but everytime I try, it says the format could not be completed. Is there anything else I can do to get it to work again?
No app is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

My ipod was updating overnight. I woke up to find the screen frozen with the itunes logo and the usb charger. I've tried hooking it up to itunes but it says I need to restore and update but I've tried to do that and it won't. What should I do?
- Try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring via iTunes

However, when I connect to iTunes, it tells me that my phone is locked and I need to type in my passcode on my phone. Force the phone into recovery mode:
If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -

Try restarting your router by removing power to it for 30 seconds. This may correct the problem.

Everytime my 30g gets close to being full..it says i need to restore..
i have to set my ipod on manual because i dont have enough room on my computer for all of my music..so i have to put the music on my ipod and delete them from the computer. well. everytime my 30 gig is almost full (1gig of freespace or less)it eventually says i need to restore it, and it deletes everything off of my ipod. and i cant really afford a memory stick thingy..thats over 6000 songs deleted within 5 minutes after months of putting it back on. its done it about 6 times now. what do i do?

You have posted this in the iPod classic forum which you don't have. iPod classics are 80G or 160GB only, not 30GB. You probably have a 5th Generation iPod.
First you should not use your iPod as the only source of your music, it is not a backup device.
Perhaps you need to burn some DVD's of your music then you can restore it if you lose it again.
