3G originally activated&synced on Mac OS

3G originally activated and synced and maintained on Mac OS, but I am wondering if I can use a Windows XP machine now without having to start from scratch with my music and apps.....With the new Itunes 9.0.1.8 'HomeSharing" was wondering how to proceed?

Iphone will sync music with ONE computer at a time.
If you sync to another computer, all the music will be erased from the iphone and replaced with music from the new computer.
You can put all of the music/video/etc that you want on your new computer and then sync.
If you have at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.

Original iPad has .pdf files in iBooks.  When trying to sync to MAC these filles don't present themselves so I can select them to be synced.

Did you try using the transfer purchase feature of iTunes? I know that these may not be purchased PDF files, and it is only supposed to work with iTunes purchases, but I have done this myself with PDF files in iBooks.
iTunes Store: Transfer purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
This feature works only for audio, video, and apps that you purchased from the iTunes Store. Any items that you imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources won't copy from your device to the iTunes library. However, copies of all PDFs and books from your device's iBooks app will transfer to the computer, regardless of whether they were purchased from the iBooks Store. • Connect Exchange email without active sync just as I do on Mac mail on Mac book.  Using OWA site.

I am trying to connect my exchange email to my iPhone without using active sync. I am able to connect it to the Mac mail program on my MacBook pro with out ay issues. Can this be done on the iPhone?  Please instruct.

    Hi,
I have a similar issue, just purchased Iphone4, can't get my enterprise emails because i get the typical "Unable to verify" message. My It guys (which are totally unfamiliar with Iphone because we are a blackberry-organisation ) tried to create an acoount on my iphone with no succes, afterwards they said that our email application is not compatible with iphone and that "we will upgrade it but don't know when".
After googeling (without understanding much ) i found that:
Active Sync is needed for Iphone to get emails, Active Sync works only with Microsoft Exchange SP2.
We have Microsoft Exchange 2003 RTM (6.5.6944.3) so no SP1, no SP2.
Is this the issue why we can't get it work?  If yes, is there any other way to get my emails without this ActiveSync?
(we have OWA in case this is usefull).
    Thanks a lot!

  • Exchange server with active sync in outlook for mac

I am currently using windows7 machine and installed outlook in it. The outlook is configured with exchange server2013 with active sync protocol. Everything works fine. Now, i planning to purchase a new mac book, and want to install office for mac 2011
in it. I want to know that, can i configure my exchange server2013 with active sync in that.

Outlook is not using ActiveSync, not Office for Mac uses it. Outlook is using MAPI (over HTTPs) to connect to Exchange Server, while ActiveSync is used only by mobile devices (such as smartphones and tablets) and by Windows Mail client. And for the Office
2011 for Mac, it uses EWS to connect to Exchange. I can confirm that it works fine.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Damir

  • How can I STOP mail from syncing with .mac????

I don't have a .mac account, I will never have a .mac account, I have in mail prefs BOTH boxes under "synchronize with other computers using .mac" unchecked, and yet Mac Mail tries to tie up my entire system "synchronizing with .mac" all the time, especially when traffic is heavy (downloading or uploading). I've got activity viewer on and the stop sign is ghosted, there appears to be no way to stop Mail from doing this useless tie up time wasting process that manages to completely freeze up mail until it's completed and sometimes slow up other programs as well. I only have POP accounts, no IMAP accounts that have to be synced.
This didn't start happening until I upgraded to 10.4.11. Prior to that Mail blazed through everything, and it NEVER tried to sync with .mac.
Is there any way to turn this useless "feature" (for me) OFF?
    Thanks!

I was on Tiger earlier, but just got home to a Leopard machine... and a power outage during the day seems to have blown my Tiger's Monitor, but look for...

I'd try dragging the whole folder, if it exists...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
to the Desktop & reboot, we can always move it back if need be.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.DotMacSync.<ethernet MAC address>.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DotMacSync.plist

We might even have to go in and Copy this to the Desktop then Trash the originl...

  • "This message has not been downloaded from the server" - Multiple devices all using Exchange Active Sync

We are having this issue across multiple IOS devices ranging from IOS version 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2. Many (not all) emails sent to the devices are unreadable and simply state: "This message has not been downloaded from the server". Microsoft believes this to be some sort of bug with the IOS devices in the way they are handling the SSL encryption.
    Facts:
    - Devices are connected to an Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 6 via Active Sync (No POP3, IMAP or SMTP)
    - issue occurs on multiple IOS devices within the organization ranging from IOS 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2
    - Issue occurs on both external cellular data and internal wireless networks
    - Not all emails sent to the devices result in the error, but issue does tend to occur more frequently from certain senders/domains
    - Using the same user account on an android phone does not result in an issue (even when receiving the exactly same email that has been sent to the IOS devices)
    - Closing mail app / rebooting device does not resolve the issue
    - Doesn't appear to matter what the mesage format is (can be html, plaintext, etc)
    - Spent nearly 7 hours with Microsoft going through the Exchange server configuration and looking for possible causes. None have been found and all testing indicates things are setup correctly.
    - This is not a case of Issue 2.3 listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324 (verified by Microsoft Support)
    - If we disable SSL on the IOS device and connect via plain HTTP the messages are displayed correctly!
    - If we use a different SSL certificate, the issue still occurs - so not a problem with the original cert.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what would cause this? Does the ISO devices have any sort of log that would indicate why it's reporting this error? The current error is pretty unhelpful.

GFI Have a solution for this problem. It is to do with iOS implementation of reading the message headers when SPF compliance modifications are made by GFI.

  • Calendar & Contacts do not Sync to iPhone via Active Sync

I've been trying to figure this out for 3 days now. I have searched all over this site and the Internet in general and nothing I have found has fixed the issue.
Basically, starting last week, my Push mail from Exchange started draining my battery from 100% - dead in about 8 - 10 hours. I turned off Push and my battery draining issues went away.
On Monday while searching the net for assistance with the battery draining issue I saw a suggestion to delete the account from the iPhone and re-add it. I did this and all h*ll broke loose.
Ever since adding the exchange server back in the following issues exist:
    1. No contacts will sync over from my Outlook Mailbox.
    2. No calendar entries will sync over from my Outlook Mailbox.
    3. Only a handful of existing mail messages synced over after adding it (doesn't matter what I set my number days/months to save).
    4. New mail seems to show up fine, but if I read it in Outlook it does not mark it as read on the iPhone and vice versa.
    5. If I get a new invite for a meeting it adds it to my calendar on the iPhone but I dont' get any of the options to accept/decline.
I have tried everything I can think of an all of the suggestions that have been posted online. I've even gone as far as deleting/archiving EVERYTHING out of my mailbox, including contacts, calendar entries, tasks, all mail sent and received, you name it. Nothing I do gets Active Sync working the way it should.
I've added and removed the exchange account to/from my iPhone so many times I can practically do it blindfolded. I even restored my iPhone to factory defaults and then restored a backup I had from before the problems started occurring.
Other co-workers on the same Exchange server are not having these issues.
Any ideas from anyone? I'm trying to see if I can get some assistance from our Exchange team but I don't know what if any help I will get as this is not a supported device on our network.
One thing that I can't seem to do (probably the version of Exchange we are running) is get to the mobile devices section of the Outlook Web Access Client to delete the iPhone profile.
FWIW, this is an original iPhone running 2.2.

I have this exact same issue!
I was on 2.0.1 running fine until late last week, noticed emails would not show up unless I had opened them in outlook. I thought I ran into a bug so I upgraded to 2.0.2. Now I can sync my email if outlook had them opened previously, but no calendar or contacts at all. I don't think my exchange admins will move me to another server, any other ideas?
I love my iphone but if these features don't work I can't use it. I would appreciate any ideas.

  • Help with Exchange 2007, Active Sync and iPhone 3g - software 2.0.2

    Hello good evening and *******
Now that's said, is anyone else having 'issues' with this?
I'm on install number ten of Exchange 2007 and god knows how many different variations of trying to connect to it on the phone. I can get OWA working on the phone and via the web both on the phone and via my home pc, i've had Outlook at home working and i've had Outlook at work working. Honestly when it works, it's seamless and very very quick however i'd like it to work for longer than a day and have some faith that it will do so.
What I keep finding is that for some reason, despite nothing changing on the server or the phone is that Active Sync eventually fails and for no apparent reason. The longest i've had it working is just over a day ( yesterday) and last night it packed up again.
I think it's something to do with certificates / dns but that's purely guesswork as I thought i'd fixed it last time by setting up the FQDN to point at both internal and external network cards on our internal network.
I would also like to point out that Exchange2007 has been working perfectly throughout all of this, it's just the iPhone / ActiveSync part that dies - unsurprisingly this is the most important bit for me as that's the bit our sales force will be relying on when we transfer to exchange.
I'm no Mac 'fan' and i'm not that much in love with Windows but there seems to be something amiss between Apple and Microsoft and due to the iPhones complete lack of diagnostic logging further compounded by silent error messages i'm at a loss to find out where / why / when it's breaking.
Is there a 2.0.3 update due which will address this problem?
In the meantime i'm off to install Exchange ..... again, set up security certificates ... again ..... and see if it will fix what's broken .... again

    And now it's working!!!
I changed the following in IIS.
Default website - Microsoft Server ActiveSync Properties
virtual directory - read access enabled
directory security - integrated windows authentication, digest authentication, basic authentication enabled
    realm - set to mydomain.com
Changed the same things for OWA
That appears to have done the trick but i've been here before so i'll see if it stays working over the weekend.
As a phone ... i'm impressed, as a web enabled device, i'm impressed but as a Corporate Tool ..... i've yet to be impressed, largely due to the complexity of integration into exchange.

  • Active Sync Not Starting

    Getting this crazy error:
Error starting #ID#C4C490642F5489B6:309EE1:106A49D3C08:-7FFB.Source adapter management is initializing.
Obviously the first bit is the resource adapter's ID. This problem just suddently started happening after a restart and no changes to the RA configuration. Thankfully it's a test box...
Anyway, when we try and start the adapter we get this error and in the WebLogic logs we see this:
    Exception in Scheduler thread:
com.waveset.util.InternalError: Item 'TaskInstance:SARUNNER:#ID#C4C490642F5489B6:142C63F:1069A84A3C0:-7FC6(id=null)' object is null.
com.waveset.util.InternalError: Item 'TaskInstance:SARUNNER:#ID#C4C490642F5489B6:142C63F:1069A84A3C0:-7FC6(id=null)' object is null.
Weird that it thinks the object is null seeing as how we'd made not changes the RA. Has anyone seen this error?

We had a similar problem on the production environment with the same error as listed on the original post. After struggling for almost 2 work days and the weekend, the issue was that the AD gateway service hung, and restarting the gateway service started all the active sync processing again.
The basic problem is that no error is logged related to the Gateway service (either on IDM side or on the AD server), and the active sync processing thread will hang in execute mode trying to connect to AD. No proper error led us all over the place starting with the database resource which the active sync was running against.
So check that all the applicable resources are responding before getting deeper into Active sync debugging.

  • Query on Active Sync

    Hi,
I have a query on Active Sync.
I am making some changes in a couple of attributes. Is there a way or a variable through which i can get only the changed values.
activeSync.chnages gives me the entire value of the changed attributes.
    for eg:
Original value of member of: Group1,Group2
    New value:Group1,Group2,Group3
i am modifying the memberOf attribute. The user alreday has Group1 and Group2 under the member of attribute and i want to add Group3.Is there a way in which i can get the value of only Group3?
    Thanks,
    pdeep

    Hi,
Please do not confuse what is displayed on the screen and when actually happens on the resource. The screen is showing that prior to the change the user will be a member of: Group1,Group2. After the change the user will be a member of:Group1,Group2,Group3.
The actual mechanism to implement the change on the resource will depend upon the implementation of the resource adaptor.

  • Bb calendar is not syncing with MAC, i am to the point that I am going to switch to an Iphone

When I put the software on MAC, I was asked the first time where to sync and I choose the Address book and Ical.
I originally just synced the phone book.  About 2 weeks ago I attempted to sync calendars to ICAL and I was having trouble until it worked.  Now I went to sync everything again and it doesn't.
I uninstalled the software and installed it and it still doesn't work.  I am try to see if it works to sync to entourage but I don't know how to change the settings to sync to Entourage.
I am getting so frustrated that I am thinking about switching to an IPHONE.  I have had a blackberry for 9 years, and never had a problem, until I purchased a MAC, which I love.
Can you please help me.  In need to sync my blackberry to my Mac, so it can sync with my IPAD.
    Thanks

right. well i had no idea that apple doesnt read its own forums. however, i stand by what i said, i belelive spreading the good word between fellow apple users is equally effective at the goal I am wishing to accomplish. im sure i look like an idiot to you, but i feel you're sadly mistaken :/

  • Address Book Sync with .Mac Always Produces Conflicts

    Hi-
I have my address book setup to sync to .Mac and every time I change an address, it produces a sync error. Then no matter how I choose to resolve the conflict (keep the one on my computer or the one on .Mac), it always fails and the conflict reappears. I've tried resetting the sync data on .Mac and, while that clears things up for a single conflict, the next time I edit an address the same thing happens again. I've always removed any duplicate addresses as I read somewhere that that might be an issue as well.
    Anybody else have this problem?

I have this exact same problem. Moreover, shortly after changing my address, the original automatically comes back! (I have a cable internet connection) In other words I have an unchangeable address. This is especially irritating because when I use 'fill in form' on web pages the address supplied is from my unchangeable address book, so I can't successfully use 'fill in form' either. I have become aware of this after switching my web browser to Camino. You too?

  • Should I use microsoft active sync simultaneously with iCloud?

I sync my email, calendar and contacts on all my apple devices to a microsoft exchange server. Now that Apple has intoduced iCloud I need to know whether one can use iCloud and Exchange syncing at the same time for Mail, Calendar and Address Book.
I tried simultaneously enabling iCloud for Mail, Calendar, Address Book, Back to my Mac (and iPhone) and Find my Mac (and iPhone).
The result seems to be a lot of duplicates everywhere and ultra rapid depletion of battery power on my iphones.
Any ideas how to simplify things?
    Thanks for your help.

NO, you can't, Microsoft Active sync is for Windows devices, not for blackberry devices.
You can use Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync contacts, tasks, calendar and memos.
The Blackberry Desktop Manager Installation Cd is in the blackberry box, if you don't have the cd, you can download the application from this link
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Bookmarks no longer syncing via .Mac

I have noticed that my Safari bookmarks are no longer syncing between my Macs using .Mac. (Every other type of item is syncing ok, i.e. iCal etc)
This MAY have started since v3.1 was installed, but I have no proof of that.
    Anyone else noticed this?
    TIA
    Mark

Okay, I did a little more investigation into this issue.
First, if you have not already read this thread, I suggest you do so: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1448192&tstart=15
Although the particular issue discussed in this thread is a problem with the Sync Server crashing, there are a few interesting insights.
I tried one of the suggestions from that thread. To see if normal syncing behavior could be reestablished, I deleted my current bookmarks, synced to .Mac, then copied back my original Bookmarks.plist file and synced again.
I did this process on two of my machines. Of course, I first backed up my Safari Bookmarks.plist file on each of my Macs. The result, no change in syncing behavior. Although my original bookmarks were repaired by copying them back, the process did not restore normal syncing behavior between the two Macs.
.Mac syncing of bookmarks still has no affect. The bookmarks remain unchanged between both Macs even though they should be merging their respective data.
