3G phone doesn't fit Apple Bluetooth Headset Dock

I bought an Apple iphone bluetooth headset and dock from the Apple Store in Regent Street yesterday to go with my new 3G iphone. I got home and find I can't fit the 3G iphone into the dock!!! The dock should fit both the phone and the headset for charging.
I have called the Apple Store back and they have said I can take the product back to the shop. They said it was the first time they had heard this happening. Has anyone else had problems with the dock and being unable to fit a 3G iphone into the iphone bluetooth dock?
Thanks

The new iPhone 3G is not compatible with the original dock. You will notice that new bluetooth headsets being sold are no longer including the dock, which must now be purchased separately. The salesperson should have informed you that the dock included in the box would only work with the original iPhone.

  • Apple bluetooth headset dock

I bought a new Apple headset a mere one week before the 3G launch. And of course, my 3G iPhone does not fit in the dock. Or am I doing something stupid? Or should I return the headset? Frustrating.

Return the headset. The new iPhone 3G is a different shape. Apple is now selling an updated Bluetooth headset which does not include the dock (just the travel cable). Cost is $99, $30 less than the original (which actually covers the cost of a second travel cable, if you need that).
Others have reported success using a Dremel to shave some plastic off the sides of the existing dock so the slightly (~1 mm) wider iPhone 3G fits into it.

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset pair with more than one phone?

    HI there,
Is it possible to pair the Apple Bluetooth Headset to more than one phone, obviously not at the same time. (I have an iphone and Sony ericsson phone and need to use it with both.)
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Regards
    Nick

unlike some of the sony ericssons, the apple headset can only be paired with one phone at a time. that doesn't stop you from repairing it when need be, however...

  • Just the phone thru apple bluetooth headset?  No BT for the iphone's ipod?

Does anyone know how I can hear the ipod option of the iphone thru my apple bluetooth headset? It comes on briefly when swithing to the phone, but I don't know how to make it stay on.

just learned I can turn on BT in the voicemail screen, and then sound comes over my apple bluetooth headset but sound also comes out of the iphone's speaker. Any ideas how to turn of the speaker?

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset - Paring with Windows and Other Questions

Love my new Apple Bluetooth Headset, works great. My first one did have a problem with poor range but this one is a lot better. I've been wanting to use the headset as a mic. Windows XP finds the headset find but I can't tell if it's connecting or not. How do I tell the Headset what device to connect to? It's paired to my iPhone too so it picks up on my iPhone every time I try to connect.
Basically how do scroll through on the Headset what devices to connect to? Usually Bluetooth Headsets can be paired with multiple devices and you do certain button combinations to scroll through the paired devices.

  • Apple bluetooth headset will no long charge with 2.0.1!

So today I decided to update my iPhone (3G), I noticed that my Apple bluetooth headset was low on charge so I plugged in my headset to be told that "This accessory is not compatible with this iphone"!
Not only did apple screw me on the shape of the new iPhone stopping me using the dock for my bluetooth headset but they have now stopped me from charging my headset with my phone! I am now officially going back to my old iPhone.

    Hello Kai.dean,
Out of curiosity... I just tried mine, and its working just fine.
Wonder what's up with yours not working?
I'm using the "travel" cable that came with the Appple Bluetooth (since the 3G does not fit into the base any longer) and no problems at all? Charging... and still shows up on the 3G screen.
I was able to make calls using my Apple Bluetooth, 3G, and the new 2.0.1 software.

  • If the Apple Bluetooth Headset falls out of your ear, try an EarGel...

For me, the perfect solution to fit (comfort and having it stay in my ear) has been to use a Jabra EarGel. I got them from Amazon, with each package containing three pair (small, medium and large)...
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004WINT/103-0456661-0716623
The fit of the eargel on the Apple Bluetooth Headset is tight, so work it onto the headset carefully. But once it's in place, it will stay there with reasonable care inserting and removing it from your ear. Of course, if you just grab the boom of the headset and rip it out of your ear, the EarGel is gonna remain in your ear. Just gently pull the EarGel and it'll come out with the headset attached.
I did first try a Griffin EarJam, but it stuck way out from my head, and in no way followed the line of my jaw (i.e., it kind of stuck out into space). Not to mention the fact that the EarJam is white, so it looked ridiculous. But the Jabra EarGel I am using is clear, and I end up with the absolutely perfect positioning.
I know nobody wants to spend more money after the cost of the headset itself, but the EarGel pak is $9.00 and pretty much a no brainer.
    I couldn't be more pleased...

Here's another option if the Apple Headset won't stay in your ear comfortably.

  • IPhone 3GS and Apple Bluetooth Headset

Just pulled out my Apple Bluetooth Headset after not using it for about a year (since switching from 3G to 3GS).
I have charged it using the special USB sync cord with the headset slot, but before (with my 3G phone) when I was charging, I would see the phone battery status AND the bluetooth charge status. Now, the onscreen representation of the headset does not appear.
I can turn the headset on and off (as usual) but I can not pair it with the phone. Yes, bluetooth is set to discoverable, but the headset does not appear. (I also notice the Apple Store no longer sells this device).
Is there a trick to getting the 3GS to "see" (pair) the Apple Bluetooth Headset?
Anyone? Beuller? Beuller? (Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated)
    Thanks team.

  • How do I charge my Apple Bluetooth Headset in the car?

    Hi there,
I have the Apple Bluetooth Headset, but I'm yet to find a way to charge it in the car. I've tried plugging the USB cable it came with into a USB car charger adapter, but it doesn't work!
Can anyone give me any suggestions please?
    Thanks!
    Kt

I'm in the same situation, but I'm considering buying a car charger that can support the 120V plug-in, just like in the house. I'll probably plug-in my MB, iPhone and BT all at the same time. I'll keep you posted.

  • Apple Bluetooth headset available in Australia?

    Hi folks,
We in Australia have been lucky enough recently to have had a brilliant new flagship Apple Store built in Sydney. Also the release of the 3G phone and the updated online Apple Store has been great. But, there's something missing.
I want to buy an Apple Bluetooth headset for my new 3G phone. I either have to grey import it from the States or pay $200 on eBay for maybe a genuine article from Hong Kong.
Why isn't the bluetooth headset available here? Is it a frequency/Gov't issue?

I had similar problem after updating to 1.1.2. Turns out that I left the Headset in the dock while updating to latest firmware. After rerunning a restore without the headset in the dock, everything was back to working and more reliably displaying the BT icon and status in the status bar.
    Good luck.

  • Apple bluetooth headset

Does anyone know if it is possible to pair a old "Apple bluetooth headset" with a IPhone 5S? I've just changed my 3G, which worked perfectly fine with the Apple bluetooth, for a 5s, which doesn't detect the bluetooth at all. Thanks for your help!

did you put the headset in discovery / pairing mode ?
did you make sure the headset was not connected to another device at the time you tried ?

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset - Battery

    Hiya
I know its out of warranty now, but my apple bluetooth headset battery is not in a good way! it lasts for about 30 mins, with no activity!
Is there anyway to replace the battery, or send it to apple to have it done?

If there's an Apple Store nearby, go in and ask.
My battery life isn't as bad as yours, but it's not good either. I plan on taking mine into a Genius Bar in the near future (I bought AppleCare with my iPhone, and that also covers the Apple Headset if purchased with the phone).
I did have an issue with one previously (just after buying it) - they simply swapped it out. Now that they've been discontinued, I'm not sure what they'll do...

  • Apple Bluetooth headset battery life indicator drops VERY rapidly

hi all. Just bought the apple Bluetooth headset yesterday. After it is fully charged the battery life indicator drops to half after only being on stanby for about 15 minutes. I tried fully draining it and recharging but no difference. Is this normal? Thanks.

Same issue on two "old" (with dock) Apple BT Headsets purchased on 3G release day. Returned and exchanged for 2 "new" ones (no dock, $30 refund) two weeks later. The new headsets have the same abysmal battery life. Note, however, that the battery life indicator is not terribly accurate - after dropping into the red by the end of the day, if left on standby mine doesn't actually run out of power and shut down for almost 48 hours.
IMHO, if you like the easy pairing and can charge your Apple BT Headset at some point during the day (I used one of the $30 refunds to buy an extra travel cable for work), keep it. If you need to go all day and use the headset heavily, get a different brand.
    Hope this helps...

  • Update 1.0.1 no longer recognizes Apple Bluetooth headset

Interesting, after applying the update I now receive the following error message when connecting my new "Apple Bluetooth headset charging connector with the headset adaptor inserted into the charging port"
This accessory is not made to work with the iPhone
Would you like to turn on Airplane mode to reduce audio interference (you will not be able to make or receive calls)?
Also, the iPhone no longer indicates that the unit is charging the Apple Bluetooth headset.
Further, I am unable to use my Bluetooth headset. General settings indicates that it is paired but will not allow me to use my headset WHICH I ONLY RECEIVED YESTERDAY! Worked fine prior to the update.
Pitiful update release on Apples part. I am very concerned that Apples QA deployment is lack-luster.

    AH HA!
I figured it out. I unplugged the cable from the usb port on my macbook pro and re-inserted it. voila! it now works.
despite removing the plug-end that goes into the iphone made no difference. removing the cable entirely from both the iPhone and macbook pro fixed the problem thus far.

  • Apple bluetooth headset don't charge

Hi, after upgrading to iOS 5, my iPhone don't want to charge my apple bluetooth headset. I tried to disconnect it from the bluetooth settings on iPhone, tried to connect the headset on the double cable. It pairs, but don't charge anymore.
It is so strange. Previously iOS4 didn't have problems at all.
Anyone knows something to solve this problem?
    Thanks,

    Solved.
I disconnected the pairing from the iPhone settings. Then turned off bluetooth and switched off the headset.
Mounted the cable on the wall to charge it, turned on the bluetooth headset while attached to the cable.
    Everything worked fine.
